So I almost bought the halot sky after your review, but at the time you suggested I wait to see things to come, shortly after that this went on presale and by far was the best printer purchase I ever got. After a month and 2kg of aqua 8k resin ive had 0 fails, the NFEP still looks brand new, and the results are amazing. Much better experience working with especially after all the headaches I have with the photon ultra
How much was the printer?
@@kaiminamoto hmm id have to double check what my final out the door cost was cuz I took advantage of all the early buy coupons and such so I paid less then final retail plus got some extras like 2kq of aqua 8k resin and and extra vat and screen protector

Really appreciate your reviews. I purchased an Epax X1-K a few years back based on your recommendation and it's still trucking along just fine. Never had a failure that wasn't my own fault. Would you say this Phrozen Mighty 8k is currently the best choice for a large format resin printer? Specifically to print minis and terrain for wargaming.
great review like always greg! I got this and the Saturn 2 coming. I'm thinking i'll be set for years. The early bird price on the Phrozen 8k was $700 with 2 bottles of the 8k resin, some extra fep sheets and "bonus item" much closer to the Saturn 2 price. I agree that $899 regular price is a little steep, but i think $540 for the Saturn 2 is a crazy good price.
I got a Saturn 2 coming sometime soon myself and I was also looking at the Phrozen as well. I probably would have pulled the trigger on the Phrozen if I hadn't missed out on that early bird price. That said both printers seem like they'll be great. Would be curious to hear your review after spending time with both of them, that goes for Greg too!

@@splatterling4539 i wish... they had some delays... they are saying mid September now :( Saturn 2 has been good, though i have had more failures then I thought I would have had.
@@jonathansmith2791oh man I'm sorry to hear! But yeah, around here in Europe i'd have to wait around five weeks for a Mighty 8k ATM. Three for the Saturn 2. Do you have an idea why these fails have been happening? :/ The S2 seems like such a steal in comparison..
Would love to see these models you printed standing side by side with a 4K and other printers to see the difference.

Looking to replace my Form 2, which I dearly love, with something with a larger build area, business partner suggests the Form 3L, but it’s a bit too big and stupid pricey, after your reviews, I think I’m going to go with one of the Elegoos, though checking on large prints with the camera has some advantages
I accidentally killed my Phrozen sonic mini 4K recently and was either going to upgrade to the mini 8k or mighty 8k. Any chance of a print side by side comparison with something that's got a lot of detail? thanks heaps for your reviews.

Hi Greg! I never have thought I would miss a 3d printing channel in 2 months. While looking at your prints there is no layer lines vizible on your prints. In your next reviews may be could you print an extra ellipsoid to make us see the layer lines clearly may be put at a diffrent angle.

I just discovered your chanel. Could you please do a review of the Anycubic Photon Mono X 6k? I just purchassed this printer and would love to hear a pro discuss it and explore it's features from a pros/cons perspective.
So in the end, did you have sanded your building plate? I have this same printer and i failure my firs print - it stick to the fep no to building plate. I wonder do i have to sanded it?

What’s your best advice for hollowing? I try it and always fail, if I don’t hollow perfect prints?
I now have a new printer on the top of my list. I have also been interested in the Anycubic Photon Ultra DLP printer they had on kickstarter last summer. Curious to learn how the DLP light sourcing compared to the standard LCD printers.
Tech was great but resolution wasn't high enough. the 2nd iteration is coming soon, supposedly higher res so we'll see :)
@@3dprintingpro212 I remember in the kickstarter they tried to claim that a higher resolution wasn't needed to match the 8k LCD printers because the way the light was sourced allowed for more even distribution and that somehow translated to similar definition despite lower resolution. At least that's how I remember it being explained. I might be wrong.

I really curious what resin and settings you use
I have a Question about my Elegoo Saturn 2 Printer I would like to ask you? When I try to use Lychee as my Slicer it always saves the file as a Chitu file and not Lychee. I have gone so far as to delete Chitu Box Slicer from my Computer but when I check the Remote drive I have sent it to it still says Chitu file how do I complete use Lychee.
Where did you go? Loved your stuff. Hope you are OKAY you were a great addition and spear head for supports and 3d miniatures......
What settings would you recommend for minis
Are you testing at the default layer thickness of .05mm, or is it cranked up to the max .01mm? I'm new to printing and setting up a model I've been creating for 1:87 scale on the Mighty 8k.
Also, have you ever mixed resin? I've heard the aqua 8k is brittle, and saw someone run a print using 2:1 Aqua 8k and Conjure Rigid Engineering Black resin.
I normally print at .02mm layer height, and I've mixed tough or flex resins in to make minis more durable :)

Hey Greg i have a Question. I bought the Elegoo Saturn 2 8K. It arrives end of August. I printed my minis on my Elegoo Mars 2 Pro with the Waterwashable Resin Grey from Elegoo. When i print on my Saturn 2 8k, do i need a 8k Resin? Or is this not necessary? I Mean how big is the difference between the Regular Resin and a 8k Resin on a 8K printer?
Not a huge difference but I DID notice a difference. It's more than marketing hype (which I originally thought it may be) :)

Hey. Long time viewer, first time caller. I just got my first printer the Creality Halot One and I'm printing pre-supported miniature from patreons and having some problems. When I have a mini in the middle it prints perfect but the models in the corners of the plate only print the bottom layers and supports, the models break off or parts are razor thin. So it sticks to bill plate but model wont stay on supports or missing limbs/razor thin. Any ideas what i should look at to try fixing this problem?
SOunds like a light source issue where the edges aren't getting as much light possibly. Try raising exposure by 10% and see if that does it. :)

Can we print a one piece model standing straight up on the build plate? I thought we have to always put the model in a 45 degree angle?
nope angle on a mini especially might change on how it needs supports and also minis are usually curved in all different directions :)

Elegoo vs phrozen 8k which you pick? (Mighty vs saturn 2)
Tough one, they print about the same, Elegoo is cheaper, the Phrozen has the nicer touch screen and the camera, I think the camera is obviously the big difference and if it means anything to you :)
@@3dprintingpro212 There's also the carbon filter in the Saturn 2 to consider as well. If you're not printing in a workshop that may be something to consider. Personally I'd rather have the filter than a camera. The network features on the Phrozen are pretty nice, though.
@@Asytra True about the filter, except that tiny filter I feel doesn't really totally do the job imo.
How do you like this one versus the Epax E10-8k?
Both really good, but in terms of price and performance right now I'd honestly Pick the Saturn 2 over either right now

Waiting for mine to arrive in about 2 weeks. Keep the price difference in mind versus the Saturn that Elegoo is Chinese and Phrozen is Taiwanese. Phrozen is overall higher quality and your money doesn't go to an authoritative regime

Phrozen Mighty 8K LCD screen is made from plastic not glass. Whatever you do make sure you never get resin on it since it will eat right through it. This is not covered by warranty. Dont know how Phrozen manage to overlook the possibility of users having accidents and getting resin on the screen.🤨👎🏾.
