    So out of curiosity, what were the final settings you managed to dial this beast in to? 1.5 exposure? Did you play with lifting or retraction speeds, tolerance compensation or any other settings?

    I have fallen in love with the Might 8K, straight out of the box works like a dream. One of biggest quality of life add ons I got for it was a flexible build plate from Wham Bam. Being able to lay the plate flat and then take the Phrozen scraper (which is the best I have ever used) makes it SO much easier. While I can't prove it, I also believe that the flexible build plate reduces the amount of torque being applied to the Might 8k plate so you are not going to have to relevel your plate as often. I have gone through 4 bottles resin since getting the Might 8k and the level is still perfect. Phrozen has made me a true believer in their printers and while I was going to getting another Mighty 8k I may get the Mega 8k instead. Phrozen makes resin 3d printing into the dream of push a button and walk away!

      Yeah I love the mighty but the Mega is a whole new beast. It worked so well out of the box and I’ve printed far too much 😂

      Dont use flex plates people, they shift on big prints. I had about 10 of them for my various printers and after it messed up on my e10 and Saturn, had both of them shift... i didnt install the rest and removed them.

    • @MacAttack001
      @MacAttack001 9 месяцев назад

      @@scottyboy6269 I have not had any such problem on either my Epax E10 or on the Might 8K. I have printed plenty of large prints along the way. Are you using Wham Bam's flex plates or some other brand?

    • @scottyboy6269
      @scottyboy6269 9 месяцев назад

      @MacAttack001 whambam and other brands all shifted. What exactly are you printing though I'm doing 1KG figures
      Honestly they are a waste of money as aligning them on magnet improperly leads to issues, theres no easy way to remove build plate from cleaning station unless you leave it on build plate which is rather pointless having it. Someone will say that its easy to get off the plate but so is just using scraper takes minimal effort.

    • @MacAttack001
      @MacAttack001 9 месяцев назад

      @@scottyboy6269 The biggest print I've done to date was Mierce Miniatures Lludial dragon, now the biggest dragon that I own. Speaking for myself, I take the flex plate off the Mighty 8K build plate, remove the prints put them in the cleaning tank. One of the problems with the scraper on the build plate is that you are applying torque to the joint where the level is set, which can quickly lead to needing to relevel the machine. The other is gouging the build plate with the scraper. Aligning the flex plate with the magnet has not proven to be a problem for me. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this matter. Hopefully, we can both agree that Phrozen's machines are great! :)

    I've had this printer for less than a month and had nothing but trouble with it.
    I've used up 3 bottles of resin which was mostly fails, half the time I can't get a build off the plate because of the holes making lumps and now the fep sheet has a hole in it and i can't find a replacment.

    with the bubbly bits printing because of the holes- my Whale 3 does the same, however the bubbles get stuck in the holes and do not pull out with the raft/ model. So even that little complaint is still wayyy better than some!

    Guess the holes help with that build plate releasing so to me that's a "pro" vs. the "con" of the bumps on something flat to the plate - I'd just sand or use a raft and lightly support :)

    I have the Mighty 8K because I couldn't wait for the Mega 8KS. The built plate size is so good. I would recommend not to use ACF film, as it breaks easy with the big size. NFEP film works better and is stronger.

    I am an Elegoo Saturn 2 owner and I would like to upgrade to Phrozen Mega 8k S to take advantage of the 15-inch platter. I tried to design using the new version of Chitubox (2.0) where you can load the profile of the Mega 8kS. To my great amazement, I learned that the print time forecast, instead of decreasing (as I thought), actually doubled. According to the software, the Phrozen Mega 8kS takes about double the time to print the exact same project compared to my Saturn 2. I therefore wanted to know if it is an evaluation setting error of the Chitubox software or if the Mega 8ks is really more " slow" of the Saturn 2. (I would add that the print time data that emerges from Chiutubox is the same as what I see when I select the standard Mega 8K, so I suspect that the chitubox profile of the Mega 8KS is the same as the standard 8K.
    )

    The manufacturers still need to stop the rapid increase in size and addition of mostly pointless bells and whistles to focus on more important things like Quality Control and Standardized settings. It really doesn't matter how big these things are when you can put 2 of them next to each other and they will have wildly different results for no reason.
    Also I would like to see a little more clarity on "sponsored"/"I got this for free" for the maker as I am living proof that the units sent to YT Creators don't come from the same pile as the units sent to customers. (at least not from Elegoo)

    • @GrayScalpMiniatures
      @GrayScalpMiniatures  9 месяцев назад +1

      That’s a really interesting observation about the units not coming from the same batch. The Mega I’ve been sent is a standard retail unit and I only got supplied mine at the same time as they started shipping the orders to customers, hence why my video wasn’t released before launch.
      I’d definitely like to see more standardisation. That’s one reason I brought up the operating system on this machine as it just seems weird that it’s not consistent with their other machines. Not going to bother some, but moving from one device to another, at least within the same manufactures, you’d expect them to be damned similar in experience.

    I have a bad experience with Elegeo. The Jupiter SE came to me with a flaw on the casing, it looks like this: a black stain (the result of poorly mixed components) and no quality control. As a result, the equipment has already lost 30% of its value. All I can say is best regards the company is a middle finger and I do not recommend it to anyone.
