OPR mentioned it in their Q&A at on his 1/26/23 livestream. He said he wants to fill out the rest of the existing armies in a 3-1 ratio. Where 3 existing armies and 1 new army(like starhost/eternal Dynasty).
Fair, but I would personally prefer 0-1 ratio. I get it, they are taking a piece of the Warhammer pie and IMHO are the best among the modern approaches that have done it. But now it’s just being a Warhammer rip off. The models, the lore. The lot. They can only go so far with that and they’ve gone from being the alternative to the cheap knock-off. I can already play OPR with Warhammer armies and I can get Warhammer armies. So do something original please
@@FauxHammer Look at it this way, elves, dwarfs, orcs, and all those other beasts has been used by countless authors for their story. Some are very similar and others are very different. But each try to and make their own take on them. OPR is just doing the same thing. Also. they are being smart and using the market. There is a want and need out there for those "copy cat" armies. Yes with a big of searching you can find a couple of units in this style, and a few in another. OPR is making a full army in their style with their lore and their world/universe. Yes they are inspired by certain races and lore, but they are still their own. Much like how many authors have done in the past with countless variations of elves, orcs, dragons, and many others.
@@orangedragon4713 I don't disagree. I;m just saying, they made their point, and got a hell of a foot in the door. It;s a personal taste thing. I know what sisters of battle are, I know what Skaven are. But as a content creator, I love warhammer and I love OPR and I feel stuck in the middle of this shadow-war between the two companies and I hate it. 'm no longer excited about Ooooh GW but cheaper when it comes to OPR. (again personally) but when they release the SSH and ED models, I;m like yeah!!!! they are new and interesting. Even the Plague Demons have a very refreshing, somewhat TLoU inspired, take on them.
The usb location is a lot less annoying to me than than many printers having the power switch at the back. Having room down the side is easy for me. Getting to the back is annoying. Main problem I've had with the saturn is that every time I level it I seem to get a bias that causes frontside adhesion failure. Also it is sooo easy for resin to get down the screw holes that hold the bed down if there is a spill or a fep tear. and once its in there the screws cant go all the way down and have to be significantly offset with something like a nut. I don't even know when it happened to mine in my year of owning one. but it did. Also having to lift the whole enclosure over the top means I cant put a shelf in over top and just have like 2ft of empty space on the wall above it in my small studio.
i got a saturn 2, i guess it has been updated. wen it is not printing the fans are of no sound at all. and i got a protection screen allready mounted. im happy too see that elegoo learns from its mistakes.
i bought the saturn 2 because of the bigger build volume. i allready have the creality ldh002, and im really limited. but now i am amazed how fast i can now mass produce at way faster speeds and i now can do bigger projekts.
It's kinda funny that you mentioned that if you drop a resin print, that it will break. When 'Alumalite' came out years and years ago, the guy actually took a piece, and force threw it hard on the ground..... it bounced around a bit and when he picked it up, we couldn't find where it initially impacted.
I don't need a new printer but this printer makes me want one. It would be nice to get rid of some of those layer lines. I keep waiting for my Saturn to run itself down but Elgoo makes great machines. I honestly feel like my Saturn is getting better the more I print.
I started with that 8k spacegrey resin and im SUPER spoiled because of it. I can't believe there could be any better resin for that particular printer. It's beyond perfect and after receiving 2 new bottles last night im chucking the cheap resin straight into the bin..
Hey fellow Brit. Just picked up a Saturn 2 in the sales thanks to the aid of your videos. Please can I ask where you source your methylated spirits or ipa? Everywhere I look seems quite expensive.
Oh I didn’t get an update on this one. Lucky me. Hopefully it’s what I want. I’m looking for that perfect level of detail more than how fast it prints. I’m a painter first and foremost
I'll be waiting for the comparison vid, I'm looking to upgrade and this exact question is on my mind right now... in saying that if you want some fantasy minis to mess with hit me up!
Yeah, I really dislike the ball joint build plate. More than once, after completing and scraping off my print, the subsequent print failed because the build plate got misaligned from the forces exerted during the scraping. Never had this problem with my other printers that use the 4-screw tightening system. With this printer, just so that I don't have to second guess if there was any misalignment, I essentially have to zero-in my build plate after every print. Very very annoying.
4K, 8K, these numbers do not mean anything until you know the size of the LCD. The Phrozen Mini 8k has a really small print area so it prints minis at a 22 µm definition, but you could as well be talking about the Phrozen MEGA 8K with its 15" LCD screen and a definition of... 43 µm, worse than a 200$ elegoo Mars 3 and its 35 µm definition. See what I mean ? The µm definition tells you how fine you get detail on a print and its screen size how large a piece you can print. If you only print minis as a hobby a small printer with a 28 to 35 µm is what you should be looking for. The rest is convenience. To get the most of the finest definition available (22 µm), you'll run into higher cost resins and models not sculpted fine enough to take advantage of such a printing definition.
Aside from the definition that Gnomish replied to you with I find the biggest selling point of these printers is the size of the build plate. Right now I am on a Mars 2 and it does limit the size of things that I can comfortably print. I am seriously considering getting a 10" printer just for the size alone never mind the increased detail possible with them.
My Saturn 4K died recently, so I upgraded to a Saturn 8K (note, not the Saturn 2 8K in this video, mine is basically the old Saturn but with a very slightly larger build plate and a better screen). I've noticed a marked increase in quality between the same models I've printed from the 4K to 8K models. I am not sure its worth upgrading a perfectly crommulent 4K to get 8K, unless you are super detailed orientated. It is, however, well worth it to pay the difference between 4K and 8K if you are in the market anyway.
@@DaveDeBaeremaeker you know what I love about RUclips, I love seeing comments from sensible people who have hands on experience sharing the truth! Comments like this
Regarding the USB placement. (Very annoying) You could use a 1ft long cable extender and have it poking out underneath the printer at the front and plug the USB stick into that.
I know, a few people have said this, but it’s still something sticking out the side, so I can’t marry up other devices as close as I want the option to do. And another component to go wrong
Just made my first couple prints with my saturn2 ( its a different maching than my epax x1) and I had a print fail, but thats not the problem, its the vat, it to shallow, and very difficult to pour the resin out of, and then my bottle tiped and spilled resin all over. The vat is WAY to SHALLOW on this size of a vat, taller would be better, it an angle thing. And the USB thing, a real pain.
Yeah the cat could do with being taller for sure. Makes sense since you are printing bigger things, you’ll need more resin, I’ve run out a couple of times with big prints
@@FauxHammer Its not even so much about how much it holds, but that with it so shallow, you cant pour it out without it running down the corner of the vat and onto the back side of the fep, its just to short to have a good angle for pouring
@@nobody342 oh that;s p[retty much every 3D printer now. there was one ever that was good, I can;t even remember which but it had one corner where the lip sat proud so even as it ran over the corner it would drop off that lip rather than run down the corner of the VAT, this is why i never bother removing vat's anymore.
Shouldn’t do… if you click it it may take you there. But just change the region to yours in the top right, it’ll work. But thanks for remaining cautious for my benefit
@@jamesa1995 i wish this was made clearer, in fact it;s the opposite with the instructions explicitly stating "DO NOT REMOVE THIS LAYER". I assumed it was affixed to the screen in such a way that removing it would damage the polariser. hense the addition of another screen protector.... sigh
@@FauxHammer I mean it probably could damage the polariser but no other 3d printers have tempered glass layers just a thicker glass layer. Tempered glass screen protectors crack really easy too, as mine did just levelling the build plate
Just an FYI, Elagoo link code seems to have an error in it! Loved the video though, the more I watch from you the closer I get to pulling the trigger on a Printer.
How is the review of the 8k edition coming? I am dying to buy one of the two, and there are money to be saved. The review for this one was really good!
Ramus, I was in the same boat, but the Saturn 2 was cheaper than the 8k directly from Elegoo, but from Aliexpress. So it was a no-brainer for me to get the 2. The price has risen since I ordered it last month, but the difference is still not significant, so I encourage you to check it out. I just got it 2 days ago and I'm having a lot of fun learning to use it.
In my opinion a waste of time. Never needed it. I think it’s a gimmick. Roughing up the plates will make base layers adhere easier. But I can’t see the benefit in this versus just upping the exposure time. If prints aren’t sticking, for me that’s always been poor levelling (sometimes my fault, sometimes the printers fault) or poor settings
Ok tech guy time ...The fan runs all the time for active cooling just be happy it doesn't quit the average temp of any proc is about 480 so I'd rather it run all the time otherwise it would only kick in when the GPU was being taxed 🤔
I can’t condone printing Warhammer. So I’ll assume you mean proxies. In which case, I would say the Saturn 2 is better. Both in detail and size/scale of what you can print
hola como estas amigo saludos desde Colombia, donde puedo conseguir ese accesorio que usas en el minuto 7:02 muchas gracias y también el protector tengo pensado comprar esa impresora para hacer mis figuras te agradezco la ayuda
Those kind of printers, compared to the wire fed ones : are they able to print strong parts, parts that can have a mechanical role ? Or is everything kind of weak ?
Will do. It’s in my plan to compare those 2 and the Mighty 8k. If you want my immediate impressions. Saturn 8k is ace, but the M2 is a much more robust printer.
@@FauxHammer thank you so much. I’ve been debating on which one to get because I’m working on creating a RUclips channel that covers things for people with disabilities on how to assemble, paint, and add electronics to 3D printed statues. The only difference from what I can tell so far are price, air filters, joints that hold the plate, other things and resin. Like Elegoo has 8k resin while Anycubic doesn’t (but can use if they want).
Any chance of doing a direct comparison between the Saturn 2 and the Anycubic M3 Premium? The ball level system of the Elegoo makes me nervous. I think it's too narrow of a support, allowing for torquing of the plate and hence 'print shift' on taller pieces.
only think i dont like about it, havig bought it in the winter, is that it doesnt heat the resin to be at a stable temprature - this should be an external kit. and lack of networking would be nice,
@FauxHammer oh that's great, Kos in Greece? I was on Crete 2 weeks ago :) I did preorder m5s, but I am not sure about it to be honest. I have only mars 2 and it's really impressive for the 1st printer. I was curious about new mars 4 with 18um xy. But that rectangle 19x24 on m5s and Saturn 3 I am not that sure. Anyway have a great holiday 😀
$500! I wish I only paid $500 for mine. The cost for anything and everything in Canada is ridiculously too much. I paid $730 after taxes for mine and that was with $215 off.
wow, that's crazy. This is one of the reasons I only ever quote the RRP which comparably between the different brands is shown in USD. It can be mad around the world. I'm in the UK and we pay Import fees too, but not that much!
I have a lot of wicked3d models, would this machine be big enough to print those models or would I have to scale it down some? I am considering this printer for 1/6th or 1/4th models. I am not sure if this would work or should I go large format printer.
I have no probblem with Wicked models on this at either size. but you will need more print sessions for their full scale ones. Predator and prey diorama was 3 print sessions Tip for you., download Lychee or Chitubox and then just add the printer. After that drag your parts in to see what fits. it's obvious when you think about it but it's also the last thing any of us think to do.
I need help, my Saturn asses new out of the box I have been trying to get the Rook test model to print for 3 days now and it has failed every single time. It literally will not even print anything like nothing print at all I have relevel the plate clean the bat out and everything but nothing is working! I am about to cry. I really need help can somebody please reach out to me and and and help me get this fixed cuz I spent so much money on this and I'm fuxking freaking the fuck out because I dont kmow whats wrong with it!!
Have you tried joining any of the Facebook communities? That’s always best to start there. You say nothing is printing. That suggests the screen is nit lighting up. Have you run the lcd test on the printer? (With the vat removed)
I have had such problems with this printer that elegoo even sent me a replacement. I still cannot get consistent prints on the front half of the build plate. I have tried everything I can think of including even building an enclosure to keep the temp at a consistent temp. I have tried all of the 8k resins on the market and still no. Can you share your setting for the Elegoo 8k space grey settings so I can compare to what I am using?
@@jamesa1995bro I have just spent about a month trying to figure out why only half of my prints would adhere to the plate and I think I've finally cracked it: try leveling the plate on two pieces of printer paper instead of the leveling card that came with it. Since I made that change I haven't had a single failed print. Alternatively you can actually level the build plate on the fep itself, which makes it easy easier to do as you don't have to remove the vat. Just make sure there's no bits of cured resin in the vat as you can puncture the fep
Saturn 2 > Saturn 8k. Why? The method in which it creates the UV light to cure resin. The Saturn 8k has more light bleed and because of this VERY fine details suffer some.
I would actually buy elegoo products if it wast for that ball point building plate. Not happy with anycubics general building quality so I have bought a phrozen mighty 8k
The amount of fookin trouble I have had with this piece of sh*t is off the chart. Ok, maybe I'm pushing it a more than I should my latest model is a railway signal lamp in OO. The body is half the size of a match head and it's hollow for an LED. But for two weeks this crap has failed to print a model that was perfect printing over a month ago with every single print failing and it's not that complicated. Best bit, it has a design floor that sees the column bend as the plate hits the bed, squeezing out resin to produce an elephants foot.
@@FauxHammer Sadly no, quite a bit of my stuff is off the build plate. So this latest run of fook-ups started with an increasing amount of elephants foot, then I get a few layers and nothing. This thing has cost me a fortune in resin and not a lot to show for it...
As far as I'm aware of the Saturn 8K was before the 2 and the reason they made the 2 is because the 8K wasn't well recieved. Looking at the website the 2 is more expensive than the 8K so the 2 is the latest and greatest Saturn
not quite, I just released my Saturn 2 Vs 8k video. and I checked, the Saturn 8k is the newer printer. Why is anyone's guess. Elegoo trying to corner the market most likely.

I don't even know when it happened to mine in my year of owning one. but it did.
Also having to lift the whole enclosure over the top means I cant put a shelf in over top and just have like 2ft of empty space on the wall above it in my small studio.
i got a saturn 2, i guess it has been updated. wen it is not printing the fans are of no sound at all. and i got a protection screen allready mounted. im happy too see that elegoo learns from its mistakes.
oh good, sounds like it has had a firmware update then.
I have this beauty and i really love her!!! The best printer i have ever bought! 👌🏻highly recommended!
i bought the saturn 2 because of the bigger build volume. i allready have the creality ldh002, and im really limited. but now i am amazed how fast i can now mass produce at way faster speeds and i now can do bigger projekts.
love the Saturn 2. absolute bargain of a machine.
It's kinda funny that you mentioned that if you drop a resin print, that it will break.
When 'Alumalite' came out years and years ago, the guy actually took a piece, and force threw it hard on the ground..... it bounced around a bit and when he picked it up, we couldn't find where it initially impacted.
This resin can, I didn’t test all resins
I don't need a new printer but this printer makes me want one. It would be nice to get rid of some of those layer lines. I keep waiting for my Saturn to run itself down but Elgoo makes great machines. I honestly feel like my Saturn is getting better the more I print.
What are layer lines?
your desk drawers/organizers are awesome
Which ones?
I started with that 8k spacegrey resin and im SUPER spoiled because of it. I can't believe there could be any better resin for that particular printer. It's beyond perfect and after receiving 2 new bottles last night im chucking the cheap resin straight into the bin..
Yeah, I’m loving it still!
Hey fellow Brit. Just picked up a Saturn 2 in the sales thanks to the aid of your videos. Please can I ask where you source your methylated spirits or ipa? Everywhere I look seems quite expensive.
This is the exact one I buy, but I buy 25L at a time because it's so much cheaper at £30 per 5L rather than £46 amzn.to/3sHUwBn
I’m going to buy one of these to run next to my Saturn 1!
you'll see a decent difference.
Is there a reason you pour the resin onto the top of the build plate, instead of directly into the vat (Aside from looking cool on video) ?
It was to show how small the vat is. I have the same problem, when it gets high it splatters out.
It’s more cinematic
@@FauxHammer thanks! Just making sure I'm not missing anything. Definitely looks great on film!
Oh I didn’t get an update on this one. Lucky me. Hopefully it’s what I want. I’m looking for that perfect level of detail more than how fast it prints. I’m a painter first and foremost
Hmm, gonna have to watch the saturn 8k one now
Yep
Almost buying it because I'm tired of all the post processing fdm requires, I just wish there was a way to test the smell on my apartment first
But a bottle of resin
The usb port issue i sloved it with usb extension cable, not idle but elegoo should have designed it to be on the front.
Yep
I'll be waiting for the comparison vid, I'm looking to upgrade and this exact question is on my mind right now... in saying that if you want some fantasy minis to mess with hit me up!
I want some fantasy minis to mess with “fauxhammer@fauxhammer.com”
@@FauxHammer Sent!
I just learned you can level in the vat, rather than cleaning it off and using paper. game changer
@@FauxHammer Oh, I didn't know that, handy.
Question...If you have a 4K resin printer, is 8K worth it? Is the difference that noticeable?
Depends what you’re printing. Minis? Maybe a little
My Saturn 4K died recently, so I upgraded to a Saturn 8K (note, not the Saturn 2 8K in this video, mine is basically the old Saturn but with a very slightly larger build plate and a better screen).
@@nobody342 oh that;s p[retty much every 3D printer now. there was one ever that was good, I can;t even remember which but it had one corner where the lip sat proud so even as it ran over the corner it would drop off that lip rather than run down the corner of the VAT, this is why i never bother removing vat's anymore.
did they ever fix the USB errors that seem to be the most common complaint?
Would you be willing to share your print speed profile numbers for the Saturn 2?
I would love to help support the channel by using your affiliate links but they only seem to work in the US in Canada. Maybe you could fix that??
Shouldn’t do… if you click it it may take you there. But just change the region to yours in the top right, it’ll work.
But thanks for remaining cautious for my benefit
It has a screen protector as you mentioned its a tempered glass overlay under the tape. Which can easily be replaced as i replaced mine.
can you replace the tempered glass overlay without replacing the screen? It was never made clear.
@@FauxHammer yea? its just a tempered glass screen protector its just underneath the tape so you have to take the tape off to replace it
@@jamesa1995 i wish this was made clearer, in fact it;s the opposite with the instructions explicitly stating "DO NOT REMOVE THIS LAYER".
Oh thank you! Updated now
What do you do with all of the resin that's only there to hold it and then break off when the print is done?
The supports? bin them
How is the review of the 8k edition coming? I am dying to buy one of the two, and there are money to be saved. The review for this one was really good!
Aiming to have it out by Wednesday next week.
Yes watched the video, and yes I intend to buy as my first printer. What’s this about sanding the plate?
In my opinion a waste of time. Never needed it. I think it’s a gimmick.
Roughing up the plates will make base layers adhere easier. But I can’t see the benefit in this versus just upping the exposure time.
If prints aren’t sticking, for me that’s always been poor levelling (sometimes my fault, sometimes the printers fault) or poor settings
40k has cool designs and i find it nice to have good proxies.
i do like what this is allowing us to create.
Ok tech guy time ...The fan runs all the time for active cooling just be happy it doesn't quit the average temp of any proc is about 480 so I'd rather it run all the time otherwise it would only kick in when the GPU was being taxed 🤔
Can we get a link to that suction cup handle that you're using?
sure, I use these amzn.to/3ZL3HMO
I debating between this and the mars 3 pro. What would you recommend. I want to print warhammer 40K. This would be my first printer also
I can’t condone printing Warhammer.
Just Amazon. Suction cup.
@@FauxHammer thanks
Forgive me if you’ve covered this elsewhere, but why do you pour the resin into the vat over the top of the build plate?
Just for cinematic effect, but I get loads of comments about it
1:36 sharper detail clearly on the right
probably my camera. but I hope you watch my upcoming vid that shows 8k details on a cheap 4k printer.
What usb do you recommend me to buy to replace the one that come with it
A decent brand like sandisk amzn.to/3O0slnJ
Those kind of printers, compared to the wire fed ones : are they able to print strong parts, parts that can have a mechanical role ? Or is everything kind of weak ?
You can use abs like resins which are a bit hardier, I use mostly sculpt resins for sharper detail. So he’s they can, but not typically
Can you please also do a comparison between Elegoo Saturn 2 and Anycubic M3 Premium because I haven’t found one.
This exact video is being edited as we speak
only think i dont like about it, havig bought it in the winter, is that it doesnt heat the resin to be at a stable temprature - this should be an external kit. and lack of networking would be nice,
none of them do yet, I'm expecting a new printer in a few months that does.
Are You going to review anycubic m5s?
Yep, it’s arrived at home and I’m on Holiday in Kos. On it as soon as I’m back and after UKGE
I keep getting wobble lines with my Saturn 2...any suggestions?
If you mean like layer shifts then it suggests that something is not tight. Vat, build plate. Z-arm.
I paid $850AUD which is about the same in CAD, dont forget 1AUD is about 0.68USD. So the printer was about $570USD
The suction handle is an absolute epiphany!!
Do we know where that cool little one is for sale?
I have a lot of wicked3d models, would this machine be big enough to print those models or would I have to scale it down some? I am considering this printer for 1/6th or 1/4th models. I am not sure if this would work or should I go large format printer.
I have no probblem with Wicked models on this at either size. but you will need more print sessions for their full scale ones. Predator and prey diorama was 3 print sessions
Tip for you., download Lychee or Chitubox and then just add the printer. After that drag your parts in to see what fits. it's obvious when you think about it but it's also the last thing any of us think to do.
I need help, my Saturn asses new out of the box I have been trying to get the Rook test model to print for 3 days now and it has failed every single time.
Can you share your setting for the Elegoo 8k space grey settings so I can compare to what I am using?
if you see my Saturn 8k video, they are in there. exactly as I sue them. but your temp is most important.
its likely not temp - in fact its likely either the vat being warped or the build plate not being level or moving when you tighten it.
@@WontonDestruction ive done all of those things and more - replaced the plate and wallah problem solved
