After 23 years in IT and building my own systems this my first AIO, so despite having an idea of how to set this up it was handy to have the vid as a reference whilst getting it installed. Thanks.
What an insanely helpful and informative guide. Astonishing amount of effort was put into this and it shows.
Hey man just wanted to say thanks for the video - I have built plenty of PC's prior but never one with an am4 board so this video was quick and easy to follow. You even used the same cooler I picked out so many thanks.
I like how he already answers all the questions a viewer/buyer would have. Truly admirable.
I love how U already answered our questions before starting, Thanks for not wasting our time
100% but i kept watching :D i even like what i bought way more now :D he sold it to me even though i already have it
Thanks for this wonderful guide . I completed an installation with this video running and I feel quite accomplished thanks to you . Much appreciated 👍🏾
Fr dude THANK YOU i have spent hours looking for ONE vid to help me and this had everything im about to cry omfg
Good instuctional video guys.
I have the first version of this AIO, and I'm more than happy with it.
Mines set up on a R5 3600, on a B450 AORUS ELITE m/b. Works a treat, and never goes over 62c. Mines also front mounted.
Content out of this world I subbed. Don’t change your video style
I had to pause the video to write this comment before continuing it. I really appreciate the question/answer parts in the beginning of your videos. It's great to not have to look for answers elsewhere when watching your content. Keep it up!
thank you for your guidance. i definitely shouted a few expletives out loud trying to do the amd clamps, but alas, your help ultimately prevailed and all is well.
Bro the time, the explantions, the video editing at the end... SOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDD
Extremely cheap, high quality, cooler master back at it.
@Blue B they have improvised and built it to the ground up, they even extended the surface area to prevent leaking
I have a Gigabyte B450M DS3H but i dont see a CPU_OPT is there any other header i can plug it into or any 3-pin to sata/molex converters i can use?
@@heat.- just plug it into the cpu fan header lol
i agree. at cpu volt 1.25V at 4.4Ghz, multicore cinebench test had only 60deg celcius. which i wud say is pretty stable...
Does it fit all case ima build my first pc not sure if this a dumb question
Great installation guide, very clear instructions
Thanks so much for the vid!
I was desperately looking for an installation video in my native language, but your video helped me so much!
Honestly one of the best setup guides I've seen for one of these. Pity I can't mount it like you did because there's not enough space in front of the case, but that is a slick way to get around needing to directly mount the radiator and fans separately.
This helped me through my first build! Thank you!
This video is amazing. The angles, explanation & everything. Thank you from a first time builder!
Thanks!
@@GearSeekers I know this is a late comment but I lost the backplate for this aio. So how do I know which backplate do I get?
@@yousifsultan628 u probably gotta contact cooler master directly asking for another backplate and they might send one in.
You are very good at getting the questions out of the way. I like the way you answer all things you really could ask:)
I like how u answered all my questions within the first 3 mins. Keep it up man
Solid insights into the install of this cooler GS team. Those RGB cable connector clips would be clutch on my ML240R RGB that you showed us how to install. The struggle is real with RGB connectors coming apart any time I pull of the back panel. Wonder if Cooler Master would send out those clips to owners of previous designs?
Bought this 3 months ago. So far its still good and works great. My only complaint was clipping/mounting the metal clips onto the AM4 bracket. That took me a long ass time and kept moving out of place. Might have to redo it again to reapply the thermal paste as i kept moving the block on/off while trying to attach it which could of created some air bubbles. In 90F weather i get around 70-72C while gaming, video encoding around 70-75C with spikes hitting 78C. My AIO is set as an exhaust.
Great video. Easy to follow and concise. Also while not directly stated in the video, I'm happy to see that based on the title of this video, it is am5 compatible.
After 2 months of changing my motherboard I came back to your video and I fixed my rgb problem so thanks for that extra bit you added in
Yes! Awesome video. I'm waiting for this aio for cooler master to send it to me. Cant wait to replace my air cooler, so my Ryzen cpu gets the cooling it deserves 😍🙌
How much difference did you notice? Just ordered mine I run a 2700x did you use the wraith prism before hand?
I’m getting this cooler tomorrow, I’ve never installed an AIO before and I’ve been using a stock cooler for about a year, but I’m not nervous about it because I know I have this video to guide me through it, I love how clear and in depth it goes about the installation and especially the question and answer section that everyone seems to love. Thank you for this
how did it go?
@@artist3856 pretty well, thanks for asking
Do you need to put liquid
@@johnathan8313 nope, the liquid comes already in the AIO

I watched the last video after buying the old version and that was great, as was this, keep it up Nick!
How long did it last?

Great explanation! Please accept my humble like, sir.
I'm new to building PC's and I was so lost trying to install this. Your video helped me a ton, thanks man!
great video! Helped me throughout my first build.
remember to align the arrow with the 12v pin when connecting the RGB to the motherboard.
Thank you man, was looking for a half hour which way to connect till I found your comment. Helped me out a lot. :)
Not sure what that means. The motherboard doesn’t have an arrow indicator

I recently purchased this over the X53 Kraken. Saved so much money. Trust me, I was torn between on what to get! Super Quiet!!!
Elo any problems with it yet?
C02Gaming no problems yet. I have it in my ncase M1. I don’t see why I need to pay $150 for nzxt. Don’t get me wrong, if they were same price I might opt for the nzxt. Financially makes no sense.
@@elo_888 still good?
I made the same decision! Glad we both found such a good deal
Tyler still good! It’s in my NCASE M1! I’m not here to shill it. My first cooler master product honestly. I’m big on saving money and spending it where it makes sense!
Cheers ! Watching from the US and following this great install step by step
Excellent, thank you. I'm going for the none RGB setup with be quiet fans. Helped me a lot, I liked the stress on not to over tighten. Well done.
Kudos to Nick for remembering all those model numbers and letters and spitting them out verbally like Eminem
He got script in front of him stupid 🙄...
Does this come with distilled water? My pc crashed because the CPu had cooling problems... Help please
Thank you so much for this guide. This was my first time doing anything to my PC by myself and I was about ready to cry lol
Thank you again !! 💛💛
Thank you for this video! I just finished my first build and the cords are a little intimidating. I watched this twice and finished my cooler cording with you!
Make sure to connect cooler pump and cooler fans only to the CPU _FAN (boot verifies device working before start for cpu protection safety) or CPU_OPT headers because those are speed controlled by the motherboard only going max only if heavy useage then it will be louder. Many people only hook to fan power output for for system or chassis headers which are 100% PWM powered at all time unless changed in BIOS which makes it loud running max all the time when it does not need to 99% of the time.
I wish you wrote this clearer but thanks for the making the disctinction. I'll make sure to use the CPU_FAN output for boot check.
The bracket on this thing made me go from having fun to wanting to yeet my whole system out the damn window. But otherwise nice cooler.
You ain't kidding brother! My hair is luckily still on my head, but I tore out a LOT of it doing that! There HAS to be an easier way to mount it to the CPU, good god.
Bro I thought I was just stupid or something. This is the shittiest design Iv seen
Yeah, seriously an unneeded pain
Hmmm....about to replace a 120L that came with my prebuild...with a 240 when it arrives. Hoping for a simple swap. (First timer.)
For me it went smoothly, don’t know why everyone has so much trouble with it
Thanks for this. I was happy to see that it’s OK simply to use the RGB header on the motherboard instead of the molex link to the power supply. Good eye! Clever. So. . . I get no demerits for failing to use all parts in the box! And now I know what the CPU_Opt header is for. So many gaps in my education filled in under 15 minutes. . .
Thanks bro. This really really helped my son and I out! He is supper excited now. You did an excellent job,
beautiful. literaly
They are fan headers for different types of fans (different purposes)
CPU_FAN - This header is for the main/only CPU/heatsink fan, the BIOS will (or at least should) refuse to let the system boot if a fan is not detected, preventing the CPU from overheating and damaging itself
CPU_OPT - This header serves the same purpose as CPU_FAN, the only difference is not having a fan connected to this header will not prevent the system from booting, some heatsinks may come with two fans, or may have clips on both sides where a second fan can be connected for a “push-pull” configuration (one fan pushes cool air into the fins, another fan pulls hot air out), it can also be used in liquid cooling where the pump is connected to the fan header, the pump would connect to CPU_FAN and the radiator fans would connect to CPU_OPT, the idea is as long as the pump can keep the liquid flowing, even if the fans were disconnected or failed, some cooling can still be achieved, if the pump was disconnected or failed, the liquid would remain stagnant and the hot liquid would not make it’s way to the radiator to be cooled, as well as the cool liquid would remain in the radiator and can’t make it’s way to the CPU to serve it’s purpose, therefore not cooling the CPU, even if the fans were sill running properly, CPU_OPT can warn you if there’s a problem, but it won’t shut down the system or prevent booting like CPU_FAN will when it detects a problem
SYS_FAN - This is for a case fan or “overall system” fan, this brings fresh air into the case or blows warm stagnant air out of the case, keeping airflow
Just like CPU_OPT, not having a fan connected to the SYS_FAN header will not prevent the system from booting, but it can warn you if there is a problem with the fan
If these are 4 pin fan headers, the motherboard, and in turn the BIOS and the OS, can control the speed of the fans, so in theory, you could connect the case fan (or one of the case fans) to CPU_OPT with no issue, but a case fan connected to the CPU_OPT header will ramp up in speed when the CPU gets hot just like the CPU/heatsink fan connected to the CPU_FAN header will, and will slow down when the CPU is adequately cooled, while the fan connected to the SYS_FAN header will run independently to CPU temps, either taking its cue from a different thermal sensor or by some software based control based on the BIOS and/or the OS (and on the OS side, either the OS or some third party software)
Best explanation I've ever read. Thanks
Thank you commenter from 3 years ago, you saved me a lot of hassle!
Your editing skills and information is amazing !!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Literally a Perfect video for what i needed, thank you my dude.
This video is a great tutorial and does a great job at answering the most common questions, but I really want to emphasize the importance of the orientation of your AIO. Front mounting the AIO is perfectly fine, but MAKE SURE THE RADIATOR IS AT THE HIGHEST POINT ABOVE THE PUMP AND THAT THE TUBES ARE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR. Almost every front mounted AIO that I've seen in advertisements has the tubes on the top of the radiator above the pump. If you do this, air bubbles will form and transfer to the pump, which will increase temperatures and create excessive noise. If you cannot put the tubes on the bottom because it's being blocked by a PSU shroud, mount the AIO on the top of the case.
First off if the hoses do not reach you have no choice ,second of all I had the first AIO made in that orientation and it ran fine for 10 years.
@@davejohn255 that doesn’t mean it was as effective as it could be. There could be bubbles and more noise then there would have been without
as long as the top of the radiator is above the height of the CPU pump, it doesn't matter if the tubes are on top or on the bottom, the air bubbles still gather at the top of the radiator. the moment you mount the aio where the top of the radiator is lower than the height of the CPU pump, then it is bad.
Not all Gigabyte boards have an AIO pump slot (cpu_opt). In that case, I think you need to buy a separate molex connector to power it from the main supply.
you should just be able to plug it into a system fan header
Yes, if you’re motherboard only includes 2 cpu_fan and no cpu_opt then plug a fan header into one of them and plug the fans into that, and plug the pump into the other
@@coolgamerman909 does this kit come with the header? looks like he did do something like that
Thank you a lot, saved me a tons of research mate. Subbed forever!
Thank you for the video. This is only my second pc build. I didn't want to use the included controller and this help me a lot
Hi I just watched your video and I wonder where should I plug the cpu opt one if I don't have one?(ex b450)
i have the same problem, how did you do ?
For a sec I thought that this was the old one
bought the first gen of this unit, ML120L in 2018 and now looking to buy the newer unit. building a B450 AM4 system and wanting to add the ML120L RGB v2. nice video, should have talked about propert hose orientation to avoid failure. air bubbles in unit can cause issues if radiator is not setup properly.
omg thank you so much! I was struggling to figure out why my fans were set on red but i didnt realize it was because it was plugged into the controller, not the motherboard
I can't even get the screws to catch the mounting clip for AM4. It's like the screws are too short. Very frustrating! EDIT, 2/8/21 - The mounting screws are in the Intel bag. Silver color. Too much like right to include mounting screws in both the AMD and Intel mounting bags. It's secure now.
Thanks. I got tricked by this as well.
I am literally about to buy this, I'm glad this was posted so I can see what it's like first

Very thorough explanation! Thank you!
How would you recommend putting it in the nzxt H510 or the Lian li Lancool 2 x
Same I came from the 800 dollar pc build and the cpu cooler is so bad so I also wanna know how to install this in the h510
If I’m being totally honest, I’d say don’t use either, use the Cooler Master H500 (Not H500M or H500P, just H500). It’s supports 240mm rads and is also a good budget case
I recently installed this cooler and used your steps in my install. Everything is working like a marvel with one exception. I have a b450 tomahawk max and went the same way you preferred. Installed the rgb splitter to one of the rgb ports, specifically the one that says jrgb2 and connected the fans and pump rgb to the splitter. The RGB is not turning on. The pump works, the fans spin and i can control them so I know that's connected properly but the RGB won't work. I tried with both dragon center and mystic light software to no avail. Any suggestions as to what i could be doing wrong?
Bro use jrgb 1 that maybe located at the bottom left of your motherboard
Did you find a fix?
I'm having the same issue. Ever fix it?

Thank you I didn’t know where to put the power of the cooler pump. The 4 prong was a good hint for my b450
10:05 I'm SOO confused someone helppp!!
He shows 3 of the cables and 1 with a hole in it, but then he shows 2 with holes in it
and also, where did the 4 cables come from??
So basically the 3 cables with the prongs plug into the RGB cables on the fans/pump and the single cable plugs into the controller or an rgb header on your motherboard. That splitter comes included with this AIO.
i am so confused with all them cables man

I bought on on Black Friday of 2018. What a great bit of kit, at any price. Liked it so much I bought another one on Black Friday of 2019. Keeps both of my over clocked apu\cpus nice and cool, eliminates a LOT of the case heat of air coolers, easier to install without too many worries of interference with other components, and the cost is not much more than the best of air coolers.
