Depression, a pervasive mental health condition, is often misunderstood as mere sadness. While sadness is a normal human emotion, depression goes beyond temporary feelings of unhappiness and can significantly impact daily life. Dissociative disorders involve disruptions in memory, identity, and consciousness, creating a sense of detachment from reality. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) encompasses various subtypes, including Inattentive, Hyperactive-Impulsive, and Combined types, influencing attention span and impulse control. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) stems from exposure to traumatic events, leading to persistent distress and anxiety. Socioeconomic dysfunction reflects the impact of financial and social factors on mental well-being, underscoring the interplay between economic conditions and mental health. Trauma therapy becomes crucial in addressing the effects of traumatic experiences.
Schizophrenia involves disruptions in thought processes, emotions, and perceptions, often leading to challenges in distinguishing between reality and delusion. Psychosis, exacerbated by alcohol and drug use, can further exacerbate mental health issues. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is characterized by unstable relationships, self-image, and emotions, sometimes overlapping with psychotic symptoms. The intricate connection between mental health and substance abuse underscores the need for comprehensive care. This diverse array of mental health conditions emphasizes the importance of tailored approaches, ranging from therapy to medication, to address individual needs and foster holistic well-being.

Seems like narcissism is huge these days, drives others to become anxious and depressed, or suffer PTSD because of them. Governments are the biggest gaslighting abusers around.
You're absolutely right, narcissism can have a negative impact on individuals and society as a whole. It's important for us to be aware of these issues and work towards creating a more empathetic and supportive environment.
Narcissistic traits yes the condition no
Narcissism itself does NOT CAUSE PTSD OR CPTSD.
trauma is not an annoying boss, or an a-hole in traffic.
This is important.
If you call what happens as a result of average, every day things trauma , then by comparison, you are taking people with these disorders deal with every day, and making it into an every day irritant everyone handles just fine.
GOVERNMENTS DO NOT CAUSE PTSD by giving people misinformation.
PTSD and CPTSD are quite literally brain damage.
You don’t have that within an ordinary disagreement with your spouse
You don’t get PTSD because you’re anxious or depressed
You get PTSD because of a traumatic experience
A really bad one
Like your life was in danger, or you were hurt or you were afraid for your life
I’m so tired of being thrown around- when I try to explain why I dysregulation, or drift off, or some inappropriate emotion is triggered for no reason and I say I have CPTSD, the most prevalent response is “oh yeah, me too..’
Unless the people around you are in a position to understand that what this disorder is, is not an ordinary thing, they were refused to expand their perspective to include something they may not know.
You want to talk about gaslighting?
How about someone equating the systemic child abuse that you suffered for 15 years to the helicopter parenting they had?
All I seem to hear these days are a bunch of people diagnosing themselves with disorders they don’t have under the guise of a expensive view on mental health
All it does is give people like this more names to call people they don’t like. 🙄
I totally thought this was gonna be like a tier list of the 5 coolest mental illnesses. This is far more informative 😅
I understand that C-PTSD is not in the DSM. And see that you included one-time life threatening incidents AND ongoing abuse under the umbrella of PTSD where some may use the unofficial C-PTSD label (for long-term abuse or neglect) to differentiate between the source of the disorder. For those who've experienced neglect (not abuse) and suffer from "C-PTSD" is it fair to say flashbacks are not memories of incidents but are rather "emotional flashbacks" (Pete Walker, Complex PTSD: From surviving to thriving)? Or would you label that as being triggered into an emotional state? I feel like this leads to the debate on lumping BPD into PTSD since there is so much overlap in symptoms and many still consider BPD stigmatizing despite the current research. But I appreciate how you keep BPD and PTSD diagnoses separate because I think they each require their own treatment plan. In cases where there is comorbidity it seems valuable to have a therapist who can effectively diagnose, and understand which issues to treat first to obtain the desired outcome/see actual healing. Perhaps this is not something that can be addressed in a comment response and to be honest it's not essential for my personal healing journey. I think it's moreso the inner geek that enjoys delving into the technical side of these things. I would love to hear your thoughts on this!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insights on this topic! It's always interesting to delve into the technical aspects and explore the different perspectives surrounding complex mental health issues like C-PTSD and BPD. Your comment raises some thought-provoking questions about the nature of flashbacks and emotional states. It's important to have open discussions and continue learning about these conditions to better understand them and provide effective treatment.
If you have had systemic trauma over the course of years that has resulted in brain damage, There is no need to do jumping jacks To identify something in your life that follows the definition of a flashback
My family started out with three children and I’m the only one still alive, and the BPD diagnosis I received when I was younger not only wasted 25 years of my life on CBT, it gave the people responsible for my trauma a different name to call the profound brain damage I didn’t know I had.
Can we please stop muddying the waters surrounding these terms to placate people who don’t want to have BPD and expend that effort destigmatizing the condition?
They’re different on a very basic level and that needs to be clear
Not that you can’t have comorbidity, but the chances seem very slim.
If you haven't checked it out already, Dr.Fox wrote a book called Complex Borderline Personality Disorder: How Coexisting Conditions Affect Your BPD and How You Can Gain Emotional Balance - if I remember right, he's got an entire chapter/section on how BPD overlaps/interferes with C-PTSD / PTSD specifically, what that means as far as therapy goes, what it may present like, etc. May be worth checking out if you haven't already! :)
@@tylerwells4808 thank you!
If you haven’t checked it out already, theres a definition of ‘flashback’ in the dictionary. A hint: ‘a sudden, vivid remembrance of past events.’
Again, I know this isn’t a popular road to go down, but the symptom you’re talking about does not include anxiety or depression on its own PTSD and CPTSD exist due to specific events that are basically burned into your brain, that are recalled involuntarily
I know this because I have been experiencing them for 45 years.
You may want to consider the fact that diluting the definition to sit a desired narrative for yourself can affect actual people that suffer from the disorder.
You may want to consult.. science. Or psychology.
Or Websters. ;)
Wow. I’m very surprised bipolar wasn’t in the top five.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Had no idea Schizophrenia was one of the most common. I've been meaning to educate myself more on it because of the stigma and lack of awareness around it (including my own inaccurate assumptions about it).
It's great that you're taking the initiative to educate yourself and challenge the stigma surrounding Schizophrenia. Knowledge is power!
It’d be nice if you did another top 5. Thanks
Hi ! I would love to hear the others. This is such helpful information for people to learn about. Thanks !!! 🙂
Great info. I would love to learn about the other types
Allways up for new Data so make the next one lol learning alot of the things with ptsd and depression has allowed me to learn how to separate some symptoms from bpd ,ptsd, and depression as i think I got hooked on seeing alot of them as just my bpd including how you say depression can interfere with relating to others as that has been a symptom I thought was my bpd but as I'm learning they might not be and this has helped me move out of my bpd traits eazyer

The are so many broken people in this world. I have run into a more than my share.
It's good episode ❤
Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed the episode.
Can you touch on COVID and if any others have become destabilized or having increased struggles with their MI. I'm a nurse so I may have been subjected to different things in ER. I don't remember much, lost blocks of time, haven't worked much since, increased SUD, impulsive suicidality. I'm 48. I haven't been so unstable since my teens /early 20s. complete collapse, it's baffling i don't understand why I'm still struggling
I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through such a challenging time. COVID has definitely taken a toll on many people's mental health, including healthcare workers like yourself. It's important to reach out for support and take care of yourself during these difficult times.
Please do the next 5😊
Thank you for your suggestion! I'll definitely keep it in mind for future videos.

stopp that’s literally what went through my head when i saw the caption
That's probably not a great title. 😅
yea lmaoo
I think it’s a bit rude to say “ top 5” like it’s a sports reel .
Lol, I think, respectfully, he's just stating the top 5 in order of numbers of persons suffering with the illness. Not that one's a winner and ones a loser..it's not America's Top 40 countdown. 🤣
Is there a serpent seed reptilian race here with us? I work for Wernher von Braun's daughter and I tend to think so, (they're lovely to me, albeit my reasons withstanding) I struggle because i believe serpent seed doctrine is gnostic and not Biblical. What's your take? Thank you!
