Make sure not to use it in a cold environment since the saturation is also based on the temperature. What i experienced is that it didn’t crystallize at too cold conditions.

Thank you for the explanation. I'm a little confused about the use of the wetting agent. According to the product links in your description, the agent is used for water based paints. However, I thought the Rust-Oleum paints you recommend in your description were epoxy/enamel based paints. Are they not? Or, is the repelling nature of the of the two part of what creates the effect?

@@anthony_trillanes The problem I had with dish soap is trying to get rid of the bubbles. You don't want those drying up on the surface of the part.
I've had some luck with the crystals but often they didn't form how I like and they only formed were the solution stayed on the part. I think it also depends on the size of the part you are using. I think it works best on large parts with not alot of angles. But for now, I gave up on the project.
I think the problem may be the silver paint. It does not let water stick to it. I watched the video again and he briefly mentioned he clearcoated it and wetsanded after. I will try that. Maybe the solution sticks to the sanded clearcoat better.

One question. Is there a shelf life on the crystal formula after it is mixed?

Thanks, but the amazon link does not bring up the bag of crystals you have in the video. And they are out of stock. The suggested replacement is nit good.

Thanks for the post; although, If had a screen shot of your ratio 1000/L for use at a later date, I going to have to inform you that it looks like a 7 not a 1.

How are you etoe? How long does a mixture last for?

You can do that with saran wrap! A base with another color! Place the saran wrap over the top coat. Slowly peel back the saran wrap! Same thing!

No it absolutely is not. That’s a marbling effect not jagged angles/crystals.

@ETOE another question please. I tried the Crystal FX and it did work however I got super super tight crystals, same patten as on your helmet but imagine about 100-150x smaller. If by chance do you happen to know what can cause a a smaller pattern?

Does anyone know if you can use de-ionised water instead of dislilled in this process ? Thanks.

Strike that, I found that making distilled water is easy and free.

Need help, anyone. I got some good crystals, but when I tried to rub off the topcoat it didn't come off. Even with 150 grit sand paper the topcoat is still hard to get off. I'm using Krylon Spray Paint. Am I using the wrong type of paint? Am I supposed to take off the topcoat sooner? Any help would be appreciated.

Will this work with water based acrylics? Or only solvent paints?

It does but you need more experience in doing it.

So long.

Yes you can use adblue as well but it costs more per gallon.
