Hi Mikey oh your dad is gorgeous...and I loved his analysis of this performance etc. And you sir were showing so much enjoyment and may I say pride of John that it almost made me cry.... Loved this reaction and we Aussies love you .... I would love to hear what your dad thinks of another great Aussie Guy Sebastian... he writes from the heart.
That concert was 1988,he was 39 at the time. I was there, not in Melbourne but in Perth Australia. And I was watching the whole stage, and singing along with the rest of the crowd . I even saw him throw the microphone stand up in the air every time. I asked my friends the next day,did they see him do the throws, they said no,and they were closer to the stage than I was. I said wait until it comes out on TV,then they would see, what I saw that night. But Farnham only does them during high energy songs. I fell in ❤ with Farnhams voice when I was a year 1 school kid,and that was the late 70s then, I heard part of the song raindrops keep falling on my head, and he had no back up singers or group,he was a solo singer. And that was before little river band came along.👋💕🇦🇺
Mikey’s dad you are so right, I loved this version in it’s original form, I loved farnsey’s version more, but the older I get the more I feel the lyrics
John originally released his version of this song on 3rd July 1980, and John Lennon upon hearing this version stated "This is how the song was meant to be sung"; John Lennon actually did a slow piano version of Help before his death, unknown whether it was before or after hearin John Farnham's version. John was born 1st July 1949 in Dagenham, England but emigrated with his family to Australia in 1959.
The oft repeated claim that John Lennon said he preferred John's version/ he played it as it was meant to be played. Want to be the first person to actually provide evidence that Lennon ever said it? No, RUclips comments aren't evidence.
John was born on July 1st 1949. He is an Australian legend and Icon here. Doesn’t matter that he was born in England. He doesn’t want to live anywhere else. ❤❤❤
his last performance was at the firefight concert at the age of 70! and still had it and i thing it was olivia newton johns last ever live performance check that out guys
This song and performance never gets old. John Farnham is the greatest male vocalist of all time. The agility in his voice, endless range, emotion and passion, mic technique, everything is perfect. Even in his later performances, in his 60’s his voice is still epic. Even though I’ve seen this performance a thousand times you feel the passion and are captivated by the whole performance. I don’t mean any offense but I don’t know how Mike snr can sit through any of John’s performances emotionless.
Mike senior was not emotionless imo. Right from the start 2:26 in, you can see him react. The detail is in his eyes, imo 😉 he was really feeling John’s vocal; plus, his comments afterwards showed that he was not emotionless 😊
@@divinemadness7119 I don’t want to argue about this, but imo there was virtually no changes in facial expressions, as you were smiling, etc and obviously really enjoying the performance. Yes his comments were positive and he said he really enjoyed it, but my comment was imo emotionless during the performance. Like I said no offense intended and I enjoy your reaction on John.
Mikey your old man did a great job of breaking that down. John was not that old at the time, but had suffered significant career setbacks after bursting onto the scene as a teenage stare in the 60's. He and his producer took SERIOUS financial risks to rebuild his career with the "Whispering Jack" album. So I am guessing he really felt the lyrics when he was singing them. Loved you enjoying this while your old man listened, thanks for reacting again matey
Happy New Year Mike to you and your dad. Your father is spot on. I'm from an older generation where I can look back at "golden oldie songs." Therefore over the years you get to hear and appreciate different versions of songs. Some great, some terrible than the original. When you're young you go to concerts and HEAR the music. When you're older you LISTEN to the music. You don't just KNOW the words... You FEEL the words a lot more.🤗 It's great to see the interaction between you both and the opinions you both give, coming from an older and younger generation. It's a nice touch. Take care ❤love your honesty !
Great reaction guys, I could see that your dad was getting emotional towards the end nothing wrong with that. Some times as an older person we realise that we are past our time and our best years have gone but we are happy to have lived during this time. Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Fleetwood Mac, Yes, John Farnham, Kiss, Heart, Cold Chisel, Rose Tattoo, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Jimmy Hendrix and the rest. The bands we hear today will be lucky enough to see the end of the week?
Mikey, you've got such a lovely smile! Love your reactions! Can you react with your dad to Ï AM AUSTRALIAN by the Seekers? It would be interesting to see what he thinks. Thank you for being you!
Happy New Year to you and your dad. So good of you to share John with your Daddy. We all love how much you love our John. Your Mike Snr gotbit so right....Johns version of this song really hits you and makes you listen to and take note of all the words . ❤❤
His comments about slowing the lyrics down got me thinking… maybe Dad would like Kasey Chambers performing Loose Yourself originally by Eminem. Another spectacular reimagining of a song by an Aussie.
2:26 in & I can see that your Dad is feeling John’s vocal 🥰🥹

Hi there...this was from 1989, I worked at the concert and Help was his final encore song for the night...he must've been so tired. 😊
Farnsey was about 40 at this event
Look out Mike, your Dad is very good at this. Make sure he doesn't start his own channel 🤣😂🤣😂
goodness you two look alike and have the same mannerisms ... amazing and nothing better than a dad and son having a great time together. Love this
Love your reaction and your dad's. I can see how proud you are for showing this performance to your dad.
Fantastic reaction, dad made some brilliant points!
Mikey…l love your smile at the beginning of the song…you know what’s coming!
Mikey’s dad you are so right, I loved this version in it’s original form, I loved farnsey’s version more, but the older I get the more I feel the lyrics
Another great reaction from your dad. Very knowledgeable by him. Thanks Mikey
Lovin this content with your Dad Mikey, your a lucky guy to have such a cool dad, sounds like he has some good taste.

Love your father's reaction Mikey ❤
I love these videos with your Dad. Loved seeing his reaction and insights, and fun seeing you watch it again. Thank you Mike (s). ❤
That really got your dad in the feels. That was a beautiful reaction.
When Paul McCartney heard John singing the song he said that was how the song was meant to be sang and performed
Great reaction Mike and your dad's adorable.
I live just down the road from the town Little River, where the band got their name from

Awesome comments!
Hes amazing.
Thank gone his An Aussie ❤❤❤❤
Pretty sure he sold out this stadium 13 times on this tour.
Even outsold Michael Jackson who was touring at the same time. ❤

Good onya fellas
Jope you're not seeing or supporting the current little river band 🤔...the imposters! 🤬
Great reaction by your dad. Did he also like the Seekers?
The truth mikes pa.
I hope your Dad’s ok, his eyes looked a bit moist there
Mikey……you have gotta react to Guy Sebastian…any song of his but I’m partial to Believer
I don’t agree with your father’s analogy of John at all. He sings Help to his own musical arrangement. No one else’s. Do your research first please
rambling at the end should be c ut out, complete crap
