This was a SPECIAL concert for the Australian troops in East Timor, l think it was Christmas time. How much more Australian then The Angels, could never get offended by Aussie music.
It sure was great/Proud to see our ADF people. Another great Australian anthem!! Thank you so much for going to so much trouble to help celebrate our Australia day!...Much appreciated.
Doc was in the Australian Army and always had time for serving members and vets. R.I.P. Doc, saw you at The Dorset Gardens Hotel in Croydon in outer eastern Melbourne in late 1984 and it was one of the best shows that I’ve ever seen. Your energy was off the charts! What a great memory it still is for me. This was great to see, our John up there with Doc!!!
There is a clip of General Cosgrove saying that when asked if they could sing this at the end of the show...the powers that be said NO! but General Cosgrove asked what time did the 'live' feed end...and he told them that they had his permission but knew it wouldn't go 'live' lol. what a champion lol Well they closed the show with it and the troops loved it. Thanks Mike for all you support and love to us Aussies... I guess you know we've made you an 'Honorary Aussie' cheers mate 🦘🦘🦘
Oh by the way, it wasn't the Angels. It was the Farnham band augmented by members of the military orchestra, fronted by John, Doc and Kylie. It was compered by Rampaging Roy Slaven and H.G. Nelson and also featured a reggae band, the Dili All Stars, comprising Australian and Timorese artists.
In all the JF videos ive watched, I've only ever seen him swear twice. That's to his credit. It's also fantastic what he gave to our troops. Thanks Mike 😊
No certainly didn't John and everyone we're having so much fun . It was Awesome , Just Aussie Aussie Aussie 's being their natural fun cheeky selves. Something special for all the Troops ❤ love John Farhnam such a natural
My sister told me years ago that I swear like a wharfie 😂 but I do know when not to, I never did it in front of my father. And we went to good schools and there was no swearing on the house growing up but once you leave home and get into live bands and hanging with your friends, swearing becomes second nature. This song is perfectly Australian!
This show was in East Timor for the soldiers and other servicemen mainly from Australia but also NZ and a few other places that had just freed East Timor from Indonesian control. Thus East Timor was just coming out of a decades long war of civil unrest, genocide, oppression, rebellion, and brutal reprisals by a foreign invader. For what the main audience had been sent there to sop, and what the local population had experienced for many years, a bit of coarse language and swearing was never going to be a big deal. Australia went into East Timor to assist a small repressed people gain their freedom from a brutal repressive Indonesian regime that probably had avaiable more than ten times the military personnel available to engage immediately in battle but quickly backed away when the Australia military showed up.
From what I remember, he was told he wasn't allowed to sing it, but he sang it anyway. It wasn't shown when they played the concert on TV they cut it. Farnsey's so funny. Absolutely no offense.😂😂😂
@AnnieD.1982 morning Annie. You know, everytime I have a day off, I get sick. Is it hot down your way? So hot here at the moment. I'm wearing a neck fan and have my 75cm industrial fan going as there's no air-con in this part of the house. It sure is summer...haha!!
@@Jojomac-ix7oi Oh no!! That's not good!! 😔 I tend to be the same, as soon as holidays start, I come down with something. It has been hot this weekend. 35/36 again today. A little overcast which helps 👍 A neck fan!! Love it!! Gotta do what you can 😄 Our air con is definitely on and keeping us cool thankfully. Heading out to have lunch with friends today so looking forward to that, just not the hour drive to get there 🥵 You take care my friend. I hope you feel better soon. Keep cool!! 🥰🤗💗💗
So good!! Thanks Mike 😅❤❤ Your face when John sang was priceless. Love it! 😂 John is such a good sport, and this was a phenomenal concert for the troops 🥰❤❤
Glad you enjoyed the clip. BTW this was the Farnham Band augmented with members of the Military Band. I immediately noticed Angus Burchall on drums, Chong Lim on keyboard, Lindsay Field and Lisa Edwards up the back on backing vocals. When I checked they were all there:- Chong Lim, Angus Burchall, Lisa Edwards, Lindsay Field, Stuart Fraser, Steve Williams, Joe Creighton & Jack Jones. This was definitely not "The Angels", it was only Doc Neeson (their lead singer).
It’s ok this song is apart of Aussie culture it’s not going to offend . Doc Neeson The Angels lead singer had left The Angels due to health reasons from a car accident . This is The Farnham Band on this concert . This concert was in East Timor for the Australian troops for Christmas 1999 . Doc Neeson was a chalky teacher in the army before joining The Angels in the 1970’s . This project was all Doc’s idea he approached Glenn Wheatley John Farnham’s manager to make it happen . Doc was replaced in The Angels due to infighting , original members are sadly riding on Doc’s coattails just to stay relevant. Doc past away in 2014
John could definitely swear with the best of us. There’s nothing surprising here . Our FN brothers and sisters wouldn’t get offended by this. I bet they yelled it along with John.
John may have been born in pommy land but he was more Australian than most and a very proud Australian of the year. The poms try to take credit for him but he would disagree with them himself lol

Mike, we are not offended. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Most surprised “go John Farnham”. Thinks for looking after the Aussies

Of course, he swears he's an Aussie .
Doc was heavily medicated after a motor vehicle rear ender left him with neck and back injuries.
That was brilliant!
Thanks Mikey. Always love your reactions...❤❤❤.
Good morning my friend.
Day off today? 🙏 🥰🤗💗💗

RIP Doc
Doc Neeson was a Vietnam Veteran, and when he met General Cosgrove, he wore his medals for the first time.
Did you offend us Aussies? NWGFFO.
Big Mike. As I said before, great to have you back. Please, keep going. Love u mate!😊
John could definitely swear with the best of us. There’s nothing surprising here . Our FN brothers and sisters wouldn’t get offended by this. I bet they yelled it along with John.
haven't you learnt yet? us Aussies don't take offense unless you pick on our vegemite !
John may have been born in pommy land but he was more Australian than most and a very proud Australian of the year. The poms try to take credit for him but he would disagree with them himself lol
Thank you so much, it😂 was fantastic. Don't worry about the f word I know us Aussies don't care
No offence… most people hadn’t seen it as the concert feed was cut before they did that song… John knew this… 😍
Definitely didn’t offend us…John is an Aussie and would have had fun there
Doc was taken fr9m us at far too young an age.
YOU SHOULD DO A REACTION VIDEO TO John Farnham (4k) On the Ray Martin show - Please Don't Ask Me (1993) 4k High Definition Conversion IT'S A CLASSIC
Its unAustralian to be offended by this. If anyone is offended, then they can go and get ..
Yep, and KYLIE didn't sing the line , UNAUSTRALIAN!
Farnsy is a lot of things - most of all an Aussie, which means at least a little bit of convict (man).
How could something as Australian as that being performed for our troops offend any Australian.
Interesting Kylie didn't sing it. She has a bit of a potty mouth apparently. And there's nothing wrong with that.
😂😂😂
Wouldn't be a true blue Aussie if she didn't 😂😂
I had never seen this before. Thanks for showing it. Happy Australia Day 2025.
KYLIE didn't sing the line , UNAUSTRALIAN!
Yeah, but I love the way John Farnham gives everybody "permission" to be themselves.
