eBay doesn’t care about your receipt.
eBay doesn’t care if the item was in the box
All eBay cares about is their pocket and the buyer

Sorry, that's incorrect. Receipts will save your butt! I had my receipt when an expensive package got scanned with a scanner at the distribution center and it had the wrong zip code! They lost it but because I had the receipt they found it and I got my money 👍

      No… it’s 💯 correct.
      eBay doesn’t care about receipts.
You could have put a rock in a box for all they know. eBay doesn’t care about the package weight. It proves NOTHING
If a buyer doesn’t receive an item the seller will be issuing a refund. A receipt means nothing …

eBay doesn’t care about a receipt!!!
It proves NOTHING to them! You could have placed a rock in a box for all they know. eBay cares if a buyer gets an item. If a buyer does NOT get an item it WILL be the seller who is responsible for the refund
eBay doesn’t give two 💩about any receipts if a buyer claims they didn’t receive items they ordered
eBay doesn’t give a 💩if you take pictures of the item in a box.
If a buyer does NOT receive their package it WILL be up to the seller to initiate a refund . Thats how eBay functions.!!!!

I know everyone has a different situation. I do USPS daily pickups everyday and my mail man scans all items, whether 5 or 20 everyday. Counter workers can be different but I never have had an issue having them scan items. I dont do receipts with daily pick ups but 99.5% of the time I never have issues once its scanned. My USPS kicks ass her in the OC!

Anything over a certain dollar amount I'll always get a receipt for. I sometimes will also include a photo of the way it was packaged in the listing. Buyers like to see care in how their items are being shipped, and it helps provide additional proof of the item being sent. Good advice

  • @jfree111

If the box was empty, the Post Office would refund you postage because it didn't weigh what you paid. I've over-weighed items and had the PO refund me. Albeit, only a few cents, but that should be proof that it was delivered with weight.

  • @CherylAnnRose

I didn’t use to make sure to get a receipt and what happened was a few of the items that I didn’t get a receipt for just disappeared after dropping it off with no tracking. I lost about 3 items before I figured out that by not getting a receipt a thief working for the post office couldn’t resist stealing. If happened once, I’d figure legit PO mishap. After 2x, I swore I’d never do that again but a few months later incredibly long line and decided to take a chance. Dropped off my packages and one went missing. 3rd time, shame on me. Not, going to happen a 4th time. I do pay & print my labels at home but sometimes there’s a line for the self help center and often people using that don’t have a clue what they are doing and you can wait longer than the other line. Get and hang onto your receipts!

My town is in full summer tourist mode with ZERO mail delivery (pick up at post office/PO Boxes only), and my USPS is currently hell on earth (I walk out and come back later at least twice a week, lol). I have no option but to stand in that line, but I do feel safer getting that receipt. Thankfully it's only about a half mile from my house.

I'm in Houston. I was told by multiple USPS counter workers, from 3 different locations, that in the future, they will not scan packages on prepaid labels. They all told me prepaid labels will be required to be dropped in a separate bin, or placed on the end of the counter. They also said the future is to have no counter people, or 1 at the most, and all to go to the self serve kiosks. This is part of the USPS upgrade. You know the one that has already happened here with the sorting facility that caused packages to sit for up to 3 months before moving!! Currently usps will only scan 5 packages at a time. After 5 they make me go to the back of the line and wait for 5 more scans. This is crazy since prepaid scan much faster than to start from scratch. This is by design to piss you off and make you start using the drop bin. Also. The self serve kiosk is nothing more than a receipt for you. If it is lost, and was never scanned by usps, they tell you so sad to bad you never dropped it off. Ebay accepts the scan as shipped at least. I've had orders scan when delivered. This new system is supposed to scan automatically as it goes on the conveyor line and to each location. No one knew when this was happening. They are union so they won't know until it happens. We will have no recourse when this starts. Scammers are only getting worse.

    • @CherylAnnRose

You deserve to have proof of Chain of Custody. And nobody should have to go to the back of the line when you've got everything pre-labeled. Time to raise heck! Perhaps try printing a manifest. I think it's one scan for all. I haven't used it yet but I see others doing it.

I never get my packages scanned at drop off. I know it’s a risk but honestly in over 3000 packages I have only had USPS lose 3 of them which is .01% so I don’t care. It’s not a big enough issue for me to waste time getting packages scanned.

I'm in the Los Angeles area, I request pickup at my home, my mail guy knows that if these aren't scanned, I don't get paid, I also get a confirmation email that has been picked up.. I make sure that the prepaid labels are well attached, I may even print the address on the Back in Black Capital type just to make sure it's easier to sort.. maybe even duplicate poly bagging.... easier for the carrier to deliver... colorful stand out in the postal stream just makes them more memorable... in a sea of brown boxes & white poly mailers... also helps if you pack them so you can throw them like a frisbee... getting cheap on packaging is a bad move... customers do appreciate the extra little steps & thoughtfulness... being in a major city it's amazing the speed that which the postal stream moves even my Media Mail they fill up those planes till they're full, so Media Mail may move as quickly as grounded advantage / priority... don't do much sourcing .. I'm older I have a house to clear out...

That's great info on the USPS receipt. Another reason to get a receipt is I am pretty sure when that receipt gets generated the tracking is updated that USPS is in possession of the item. The first couple items I shipped, I did not get the receipt and in some cases the tracking wouldn't update till the next day. As soon as started getting receipts the tracking would be updated by the time I got back home from the Post Office.

still doesn't seem like the receipt would help you - buyer could say you shipped them rocks weighing that same amount... also, you can put the weight in and buy the label from ebay, then go to the kiosk at the post office, print the label and it will give you a receipt showing the weight even if you ship an empty box

    • @Looker4522
      @Looker4522 Месяц назад +1

The benefit occurs in the situation given here. The customer said the box was empty. It works there so that is a benefit even if it doesn't cover the box of rocks situation. Plus the Post Office receipt shows the weight out to 1/100th of an ounce. It is unlikely anyone could duplicate that weight at home since labels we put on the box only show down to 1-ounce, not 1/100.

The post office does not weigh the package when scanned. The weight is associated with the tracking number you get when you buy the shipping label. (you have entered the weight when buying lable) The receipt from the post office is only good when you have to make a claim for lost or damaged item. Ebay will accept the scan by the post office if scanned at receipt or later by a machine.
