    Thanks for another video Justin!
Promoted listings is still gives me weird vibes.
About 3 months ago I put my entire store at 2% (like you) and I did notice a jump at the beginning.
Still some items that I comped and thought for sure these will sell, didn’t. So I would go back and check other eBay sales, and other sales were happening for other stores for same or similar items.
I ran a few tests , I would do shoes a little higher 5-9% (since there is more competition) but I would still look for my listing on my “work phone” and I was pretty low on search results.
Don’t get me wrong I still have been getting good sales, my 90 day is a little over 18K
I removed my entire store from promoted listings about a month ago. And I’m still tracking about the same.
I wish more people did tests and we all shared them together. Maybe someday.
I’m coming up on 30days with 0 promoted , 100% my traffic is down. Impressions almost half! but my sales still continue to climb.
Just “thinking out loud” or typing lol
Thanks again for these videos! See ya soon.

Just FYI - We've bought 3 lots of old Canon Powershot cameras (8-10). Easy sales and got them for $4-8 each. HOWEVER after getting an unusual number of returns (plus eBay will override you if you say NO RETURNS, so don't bother) we did a little investigation after also starting to review actua SN #'s and found we were getting returns of NOT what we sent out. These were being bought Internationally, mostly S. Korea and Japan...it was actual bait and switch. Just an FYI...

Speaking to your point about listing random things to see if there's any demand: I bought a storage unit at an auction a couple months ago for $40 and it was mostly junk as they typically are, but amongst the trash I found a stack of newspapers and magazines from Medellin, Colombia from the day Pablo Escobar was killed in 1993. I almost threw them away, but instead decided to list them individually and ended up selling all 5 pieces in less than a month for $800 total. You just never know what "trash" might actually be worth something so there's no harm in giving it a shot!

Your comment on something be stated as "new" at a yard sale reminded me of a situation that happened to me a few weeks back.
I picked up a pair of shoes and the person selling it said "those are new!".
I proceeded to turn them over and saw they had a generous amount of mud in the treads hahaha.
They then said they wore them once and found them too big, but obviously they wore them outside at least once, and I would not consider that "new".
Needless to say they ended up asking way too much for me (to resell them, it may have been a decent price for someone buying them to use) especially considering they were used and I would have to do a deep clean.

Re the promoted listings rates, it stands to reason they will continually go up as more sellers start using them. If only a few are promoting a small promotion will put you up there with them, but if hundreds are promoting you'll be competing for a higher position in search, hence needing a higher dollar amount. More and more influencers are recommending to promote at 10% and as more of their followers heed the advice...

feeling the pain , slow sales last week , a few lowballs declined on items i know will sell at full price eventually. I firmly believe in keeping that cash flow rolling but i saw this same thing last Summer ( my first Summer selling on eBay ) taking a deeper look into Product Research , gives a clearer picture of how seasonality plays into some products. As an example i found some Patagonia Wool Flannels , the selling price on them historically is much higher in January as compared to July. I dont see myself selling them at the low point no matter how slow its been. In fact im not even going to list them until possibly October just to avoid the endless declines in low ball offers, lately im getting low ball offers through messaging if i dont have the listing set to offers. Holding out ! stay strong ! LOL ! great content as always and nice finds !

Justin, thanks so much for all you give to the reselling community. I'm a happy Flipwise customer, and I hope this is the appropriate place to suggest a product enhancement. I would love to be able to take a photo at the point of purchase (estate sale, garage sale, thrift, etc.), record the purchase price and notes, and, ideally, automatically geotag. As my store grows, I'm finding it harder and harder to remember where and what I paid for something. Today, we complete Flipwise data after we list the item; someday, I'd love to be able to start my inventory in Flipwise and track where I list it...

Justin - You and I coincidentally listed the same item (a Cuisinart food processor part) at the same time. You had yours listed for $34.99, and I had mine listed for $34.00. I do not promote anything. Mine sold 16 days before yours did. After subtracting the extra 2% you paid to promote, you still ended up a few cents more in net profit, but mine sold faster. I know, it is just one data point; however, I think our average time to sell and profit margin numbers are comparable (for the year so far my average time to sell is 2 months with a 56% net profit margin on $23k in gross sales). I had roughly 80 items listed on January 1, and I now have 180 items listed, so my eBay "store" is less than 1/5 the size of yours.
I have been very successful improving my sales by following your advice to list at least 5 items a day and to treat this like the real business that it is. You still have not convinced me, though, that promoting my items will be a good bang for my buck.

Been selling for years now, and the question I have is: eBay has somewhat recently upped their "recommend specifics" to what I consider unnecessary levels...do you fill these in, or just hit the check mark that says "don't remind me about these anymore" and go on with your day? Do buyers actually search for these criteria? Am I wasting time trying to fill them out, or missing sales by ignoring them? Thanks!

Promoted listings is whatever the percentage is on the price of the item. the shipping and the taxes. At 5% I lose about 35% to 40% off my items I find many times. Long time eBay seller here. I attend estate and garage sales every week. I inventory everything I purchased on paper. At the top I put the location of the sale and the total I spent. if I know what I paid for each item I do itemize by item. If I don’t I’ll estimate that amount giving each item a value so that the entire lot adds up to the total amount paid. Then I enter everything I purchased into a spreadsheet grouped by each sale and by date. This makes it easy to figure the cost of item sold when I post my sales each week. I actually use 3 spreadsheets for my accounting.
      1) Master Inventory.
On this spreadsheet I enter every item I buy grouped by date and location of sale. This sheet has the following columns:
Date, name of item, cost of item, sold amount and date sold.
      2) current Inventory:
When I enter my inventory into my master inventory sheet I also copy that info into this spreadsheet grouped exactly the same way. When I post my weekly sales I’ll remove all sold items from this spreadsheet. This allows me to know the exact amount i paid for the entire inventory in my warehouse at any given time.
      3) sales by month spreadsheet.
This keeps track of my sales and the net profit by month.
      I hope this helps!

Even when i add up my all of my sold items, it does not add up to my 90-day total (I'm new so this is all of my sales). Lastly would you be able to show us what we should be keeping track of on a spreadsheet? (for tax purposes) I have a google sheet with the item, purchase price, purchase date, sold price, sold date. I feel like I'm either keeping track of the wrong things or not enough things. Thanks!

That's a great question. I'm in the same boat. I'm fairly new at this. But I did figure out that the amount that they pay me out is minus the shipping and fees.
I started a spreadsheet listing the item, the date posted, the date sold, the listing price, the actual selling price, the fees, the shipping that I paid, the final amount and my net profit. I'm hoping this information is good enough for tax purposes. I write the mileage on each receipt. I'm not in a position right now to add on any subscriptions or apps to do the math for me.

I’m a top rated seller and want to get ensure I don’t get dinged for not adhering to the 1 day timing.

Justin, now that you have been using PL for about a year, what has been the trajectory of your sales lift longer term? My thought was that turning them on may lead to a shorter term spike (like the doubling you reported) but longer term I'm wondering what that inflated number of impressions (shown to people who may or may not have been keyword searching a match to your specific item) does to the click through and sales conversion rates that eBay tracks. These metrics very much have an impact on organic search placement. My resistance to using PL is that I would not want to "trade" my high organic placement for a PL placement that rotates among all the other promoters and could damage my placement/sales down the road. I have done many tests on promotions and can confirm it only took a few days for my organic "top 20 search slot impressions" to drop from around it's normal percentage of 18-20% into low single digits. Has your sales lift held steady at double of where you were at pre-promotions? Or did you find that was a shorter or mid-term bump that eventually left you close to where you started before you promoted? Basically, how is your sell through rate currently compared to what it was before you ever used PL? Thanks!

Just to add, I haven't run into anyone who uses promoted listings who has a Top 20 Search Slot Impressions percentage (in Traffic section) over single digits.

Justin, had a weird thing happen a few days ago. My daughter occasionally comes across things that she then brings me to list on ebay. This time she had a World of Warcraft item. Since neither of us were very familiar with it, we each used ebay lens; came up with nothing. Then we each used Google lens...sitting in the same room, just a few feet apart - and each of us has an Android phone - yet we came up with different results! Which we found very confusing and frustrating. Hers led her to ebay listings, so did mine... yet again, when we typed in the exact same words to ebay, mine could not find any results, while hers found similar but not identical results to what we had typed in. This can be extremely confusing, especially to newcomers. Got any suggestions?

@@LemonPieTV 🙄 you obviously enjoy testing games more than spending time finding more items to sell. any disc in good to mint condition doesn't need to be tested. also, it's unnecessary to put in description if it's tested and working. No one cares; you're selling a physical item at the end of the day and a lot of people just want to own the thing. They don't want it to use it. I sell super scratched discs of rare media / games for $50+ and will specifically say it's untested. Buddy explained about the testing and saving your time.

The stain was blood, of course I didn’t know that until I tried to clean it. The seller paid for the return shipping, they paid me back for the cost and taxes. But they didn’t give me back what i paid for shipping. I just left it as a loss. What’s your thoughts on this.

My page doesn’t have any edit or anything that can help me find the SKU most videos say it should be under the pictures. I was wondering is it because I don’t have a shop I am at my wits end any help would be appreciated. Thanks for all your videos you have helped me so much. I have only been selling on eBay for only 4 months and going well but want to list a lot more but need to organise my shelves. I have had a shop with Etsy for 4 years so have some experience with selling. Cheers Tricia from Australia.

Do you have any tips for sourcing on Facebook Marketplace that doesn't make someone want to sob, drink heavily, and then sob some more? I'd love to be able to source from there but the search tools they have seem to work about half the time at best. For instance, I check local pick up only within 50 miles and, without fail, there are items 4 states away that people would love to ship to me. Or I ask for items from the last 24 hours or newer and there is still stuff from 3 weeks ago. It's an absolute nightmare! Is there a way to browse individual categories and sort by the newest listings or something I'm missing? Or is it the backwards unintuitive nightmare that I think it is?
