Since finding this channel some weeks ago I went from listing personal stuff out of necessity to LOOKING for stuff to list for profit. Very motivating. 👍
One thing to keep in mind, Justin is probably a well established seller. There is a difference between being well established and a new seller. It takes awhile to get your store noticed. When you have some good reviews buyers can see that will help also. In the early days, it isn't easy.
It's not about your "store". Its all about showing up in search based on what people are looking for (and how fast they can get it). Having an account in excellent standing with consistency helps the algorithm.
I carry a wicker basket for carrying stuff. It's classy, it's convenient, and I believe people like giving deals to people with wicker baskets hooked on their arm.
We don't do promoted listings because we run sales, so it would be even more money out. We do do the end/sell similar thing though. I struggle with the variety of ways you can be successful, my brain wants one path. You spend so much time trying to analyze the ebay abyss, it's maddening.
And then comes Paralysis by Analysis. I try to tune out the noise and stick to the fundamentals. "Sucess is the sum total of tasks completed every day, day in and day out."
@@HLB512keywords in the listing? I’ve never done that, seems like a waste of time when you could be listing more. Just buy things that have a good sell through rate, price competitively and run sales every week. I also do promoted listings and stuff sells pretty quick for meZ
Interesting and informative video. My husband and I go to a lot of estate sales where we live and none of the companies allow buyers to bring in their own bags to put unpurchased items in. However, most have shopping baskets and the hold tables are closely watched so no problem there.
Always enjoy your videos here in the uk. Cheers. Not strictly true that promoting rare items is pointless as you are only considering that paying for PL only affects search result placement. In actual fact promoted listings also helps to feature your item in many many positions across the ebay platform/world and beyond. Search placement is just one benefit out of about 60 or so benefits and placements. No I don’t work for eBay lol.
Hi there. Thank you for your content. I always learn something new. My question is, how do you check comps at a garage sale? I always feel so uncomfortable in front of the homeowner.
Hi Justin , another great video! Just a heads up, if the ring product is used sellers may receive a return. Companies like ring and also blink do not want their products sold on the secondary market. If those cameras have been paired to an account, you will not be able to reset the username and password. You must have the previous account and password info to reset. Unfortunately, I know this from personal experience.
There is another website, but you can't post website addresses here. It starts with "130point" and you know what to add to the end. It is made for sports cards, but it pulls up anything in the last couple months with the listing title.
Hey Justin. I absolutely love your videos..good job and please keep them coming. Question....when you list do you schedule a release date and time or do you list and release the same day. Thanks
As someone who sells mostly shoes I have to point out size 13 sells much better than size 9. Right now there is about 100,000 more pairs of size 9 listed while about the same number have sold.
Hello Justin, thanks so much for your videos, really helpful as I have just opened a store. My question is can you use Flipwise in the UK ? Many thanks Rebecca
To save on costs, I reuse Amazon packages and take cardboard boxes from Dollar Tree that they were going to crush anyway. Is there a major downside to doing this over paying for boxes?
Same. In fact at Estate sales, I go into the garages where recycling is still in process and I scoop up their bags from shipping. They are usually happy for me to take this stuff off their hands. It's "garbage" to the estate companies.
Not sure if this happens to you but found if we lower our promotion to the minimum of 2% after a few weeks we see our impressions dropping greatly as well if we list under seven items daily, that also affects our impressions. We have tested this multiple times at six month intervals during same Q cycles. With the same items just increasing promotions to 7% flat for all, the impressions jump and sales trickle in, not changing anything else.
Hey Sellers - one thing to remember if you are selling full time/have a business - you can write off the promotion % on your taxes!! ...Great video Justin! 🍻
Is there a way to make it so the “auction” tab isn’t preselected when making new listings? It’s a pain in the ass to start the pricing section by unclicking auction every single time.
The other thing when you promote, it can also put it in similar searches. Like search St. Louis blues bobbleheads, and sometimes it will sprinkle in St. Louis cardinals bobbleheads.
I have found that the acrylic food processor parts have some crackling and hairline cracks. Are these typical? Do they hurt the listing or do they not even need to be worried about?
How do you deal with packages with the thrift price written in pen / permanent marker on the original packaging, or the item itself? I'm a new seller but feel like I want to avoid having that shown.
Promoted listings can work for one of a kind items. For instance I sell postcards, pins, matchbooks, photographs, and when I promote them, they will show up to people looking for other things, like someone searches for an ashtray from a restaurant, and eBay will also show them my matchbook from that restaurant and even though they weren’t looking for that item, they might buy it. Same thing happens with postcards, someone searches for a matchbook from that restaurant and my postcard for that restaurant is shown and even though they weren’t looking for that, they might buy it.
Do you generally charge for shipping on every auction or do you ever choose a set amount or free shipping? I originally added free shipping into most of my items because a majority of my listings are $100+ so paying $10-15 for shipping and still making $85-$90 on a $100 item was still profitable. However, I quickly realized people were sending me "offers" and it put me in a sort of double jeopardy position because they were offering less money and I was still paying for shipping so if I accepted it would be a double whammy compared to someone that was selling at the same price but charging shipping. Ex Them listing $100 + $10 shipping = $110 total...Me listing $100 w/free shipping = $90 total. So if someone sends me a offer for $90 I'm now down to $80 after shipping or $30 less then the person that charged shipping. I would end up losing both shipping cost and offer price and felt turning down offer after offer might lose potential future customers?
I love that that your COG is so low. I usually sell clothing and jewelry. But I’m trying to branch out. There’s a community yard sale happening this weekend. Hoping I can get some good things. Do you ever tell people at garage sales you’re a reseller? If yes what’s the reaction?
Hey Justin, absolutely love your channel. I am looking to up my reselling game by delving into wholesale opportunities but am completely overwhelmed by all the options. Do you have any recommendations on where to start or how to evaluate potential sources? Cheers and thanks again
Your ring doorbell set has a sticker like my electronics return pallet that I bought about 1 year ago. That same red/white sticker was on every item. Not a good sign if its being resold for the 2nd time already. (Liquidated and now garage sale) best of luck
About the mail delivery issues thing, there is something sellers can do. I had a $600 phone stolen off my porch and when I contacted whichever company was in charge of delivery I can't remember, they told me all they needed was for the seller to contact them and confirm that they sent it. It sucked so, so bad that they absolutely freaking refused to do that. It was a gift for my kid and I know everybody has a sob story, but I worked my ass off for that phone. EBay wouldn't help, the seller wouldn't help, and I've not bought anything off eBay since. It's been 2 years.
@@LaurieAnnCurry It sucks that it happened, but seeing a stranger show compassion on the internet for someone they don't know always makes me warm and fuzzy. Thanks for reaching out.
The delivery company, whoever it was, has GPS coordinates to show where the item was delivered. If it was indeed delivered to your address, then the Seller's responsibility is satisfied. Why in the world would you expect eBay or the Seller to be responsible for the CRIME of theft from your porch? It's your responsibility to provide a safe place for the item to be delivered. You could have had it delivered to your workplace, etc. If you feel the eBay Seller should be responsible for a crime committed by a thief, then it's best you do stay away from eBay.

Such a great tip! Never knew about this. Thanks for your videos and for answering our questions. I never thought about paying in rounds at the estate sales. The lines can be quite long at times, but between me and my husband, we can definitely use this strategy. And those IKEA bags are amazing!
The sold listing trick to see the price works when the seller accepts a best offer, but what about when a seller sends an offer? The listing stays green with no line through it, so we don’t know if the seller sent an offer and what it really sold for.
I’ve had problems selling to bases as well. My postmaster general told me that it’s a common scam that they get away with pecause the military is so slow especially if it’s overseas.has to go through normal customs and then military checks. eBay did not side with me.
I switched from part time selling to full time a few months ago and I’m not sure what to do about occasional listings that I personally own. How to value them for tax purposes? I guess I can dig up some receipts but not for all.
Hey Justin, I tried to sign up for Flipwise but it isn't available for Canadian sellers yet. Do you have a time line for when it might be available outside of the USA? Also really enjoy the videos.
When you end listings and Sell Similar, do those count as "New Listings" in terms of listing consistently for the eBay algorithm? Would you still need to add new listings that day to be consistently listing?
Ok I’m intrigued about garage sales and estate sales. I’ve been wondering though… is it tacky to pull out google lens? 🥴 Not sure I would know how to source like that without it yet.
Years ago there was a website where you could copy/paste the sale address and the best offer amount would come up. I am guessing Ebay threatened some legal action because the website had some vague message that "This service has been disabled because of people abusing it" whatever that means.
If ebay suggested price is near what I was thinking of pricing, then I just go with their weird number. It feels like it gets boosted in search results, so I like it. I won't use ebay suggested price if it's way lower than what I value the item.
Hey Justin Resells! Just found your channel and I'm loving it! Subscribed! Quick question: I mixed up labels on two orders by accident. Any advice on how to sort this out on eBay? Thanks!
I just went through this myself. I was lucky because my customers returned the items to me with 1 opening a nad. I sent the correct items once received back. It was an honest mistake and I let the customers know. I was apologetic for the mistake and both left me positive feedback after they received the correct item. It happens and I just try to be more careful going forward. I’m not worried about the nad because it was my fault and it will eventually fall off.
I just went through this as well. I apologized profusely and asked each buyer if I could send them a shipping label to the correct buyer so they popped on the new label and it got to the correct buyers. So glad it worked out. I had it happen when I first started selling and one buyer was great, the other was a NIGHTMARE. It eventually worked out but the nightmare buyer left me bad feedback.
Can you talk about filing taxes? Do they take a lot? Or how do you show for it? I used to sell my personal clothes but never made a ton of money just wanted to rotate my closet but this year I’m selling more (both personal and goods I find thrifting) and not sure what I should expect when tax season comes around. Hoping it will be worth it and not have to owe a ton back
Does flipwise track full shipping expenses(label+material) or label shipping expenses only? The material cost (consumed) would need to be estimated quarterly based on starting/ending amounts. Unless flipwise could add a estimated amount to add onto the label price for shipping supplies consumed to get a true(estimated) shipping cost per item.
Flipwise retains the connection between all listings for the same item, so you can end/relist (or sell similar) and it'll keep those connected to the product. You can see this in action here: ruclips.net/video/1M-GP3Bz9WA/видео.html
Justin you showed a pair of Doc Martens and commented that they needed to be cleaned up. Do you do that? Or sell as is on something like leather boots? Love your channel!
??? I have about 1500 items of brand new with tags clothing. I’ve been selling 3+ years. I’ve been steady listing 10+ everyday and my sales are only 3-5 daily. My items are in the middle price range, highly saturated retail clothing and many with this brand sell low and are racing to the bottom. I promote my listings, run sales and send offers. I was buying in very large bulk but haven’t purchased anything for 2 months now because of low sales and the length of time it takes to sell. Do you think it would help me to start another store and/or list more daily? Thanks.
Hi! Appreciate all the info. New to reselling. Do you add buy it now to all listings, even ones newly posted? Do you factor that in to the initial pricing?
What do you do if an item is received damaged? I just had this happen and was going to try to get in touch with Ebay but because that is sometimes very frustrating and the item was only $22 , I decided to refund because I think Ebay would have pushed it anyway and wasn't worth the hassle of having the buyer return the item. But I'm curious what you would do?
@@johnsymons667 yep. you can generate sales reports by going to the Insights screen. you can run more robust reports using the export feature: help.flipwise.app/article/26-how-do-i-export-my-data and finally we are building an Income Statement / P&L report function now so that should be available soon
I wonder about the rate of sales I have vs the amount of listings I have to figure if I'm doing well, I must be becomming impatient to sell. I figured I sold at a 7% rate this way, but that was for 1 week, I figured for your store to be about 3%, is this a figure you even care about? Is it something you included in your app? Another popular youtubers/ebayer stated he had about a 1% rate. I just don't want to be a hoarder and I don't want to store stuff people don't want to buy.
Hi I recently got your flipwise program and am loving it! Question, I'm going on a week vacation soon, and am going to put my shop on vacation mode. Is that a good idea? Should I find a way to list while I'm gone?
Vacation mode will show potential buyers that they can still order from you, but that shipping will be delayed until you return. Personally I choose to just turn off sales while I'm away because I think many buyers won't pay attention to the delayed shipping warning and could be upset by having to wait for me to get back home to ship it. Recently I have been using the scheduled listing feature to even out my workload throughout the week and have been loving it. You could use that to schedule listings to go up every day while you're on vacation to keep your store active.
@Zweihorne hey thanks a million for your response! those sound like good ideas! how can i turn off sales, i tried checking settings? and sorry for so many questions, but would it look weird if i have items going up for sale while my sales are turned off? thanks again for your amswers!
Hey, Justin If you sell an item on auction for 100 dollars. Then, the buyer sends a cancel request 2 minutes after the auction ends. What do you do? Grateful.
Justin, after a person paid for an item of mine, they quickly sent a message and asked if I could mail the package to a different address in a different state. Would you do this since this is an option amazon offers like buying a gift for someone or is this a scam?
I do it for grandparents. A lot of times they are buying gifts and just forget to change the address. They let me know they want it sent to their grandchildren and I have no problem doing it. I have grandchildren and I’ve done it myself many times.
Has anybody else had this issue where when you create the ad on your desktop computer and then try to revise some thing from your phone that it deletes all of the item specifics like brand all the way down?
Justin I am a newbie and want to ask if somebody else has an item listed that is just like mine and they price theirs at $14.00 and I price mine at $12.00 both with best offer. The EBay sends a message that says you have received an offer for $13 and whoever accepts the offer first gets it. Why is that? Should I accept it? I don’t think that is fair with mine being less than they offered on the other person’s original offer of $14. Please explain “offers work” Thanks!
Are you sure you’re not being offered a chance to buy (not sell) that item. Anytime I check out someone else’s item I get those offers and the first time it happened I thought I made a sale. 🤷♂️
I don’t agree with promoted listings, especially for second hand sellers. It’s basically trying to make more money putting sellers against each other. If you have good items at a good price they will sell regardless, so why pay EBay extra on top of the fees they charge
People are lazy they don’t scroll they don’t change up the wording, it’s not just putting your items higher it’s putting any of your key words in the face of a buyer using that word or selling that brand. Think of it as flirting. It may not be the prettiest or the best dancer, but this person comes right up to you and says I like you so they get the dance.
Dude if the item is low value like $25 or less. Just refund them. It’s pretty petty to get in a high ground about the post office for something cheap. Quality service and happy customers are way more important than having an extra $25 dollars. If it’s a more valuable item absolutely no refund your and your problem. But if it’s not much money do what you can does it really matter if their lying.
Refunding everyone who asks only encourages more people to say they didn't receive it. eBay culture has already encouraged this and is making the problem wirse
Do you know how to find someone who made an offer and offer was declined. Did this by mistake and want to accept the offer. Any help from you big brain will be most helpful. Thank you and keep making these great vids, learning a lot. Rob in KY
You could try in your eBay messages. eBay will have sent you a message saying who made the offer and how much. You might be able to track down the buyer from their username and contact them maybe?
I have a camera on my porch. I can prove I didn't get the package. eBay gives me a refund. I also have cameras on my street. I can prove USPS never came down my street. eBay gives me a refund. USPS, unfortunately they lie
They way you tell how much something sold for on offer isn't an exact science. You sort highest to lowest, and it's going to be somewhere between whatever is above it and below it. If there isn't anything, you can try using more vague search terms (from the title of the item) and then use your browser to search for that exact title. Sometimes you can get a closer idea as to where it's price fell that way.
This is ridiculous. I can get Barry to go ahead and buy my item and pretend like we got a good price or I’ll just look for the lowest price item and use that price so everybody gets a good deal😮 please stop confusing everybody nobody does that dude start off at a penny, and let people bid on it

What was your thinking on pricing the top item at $103 instead of $99?
$4 extra dollars! Or maybe all the others were listed a little higher.
If ebay suggested price is near what I was thinking of pricing, then I just go with their weird number. It feels like it gets boosted in search results, so I like it. I won't use ebay suggested price if it's way lower than what I value the item.
@@loutewl6903I do the same seems to work out
Another great video. Thank you for showing how to find the best offer actual price hack.
Thank you stating the percentage you use for promoted listing. eBay "suggests" 8% most of the time.
Yeah sometimes they’re as high as 12%, which is insane.
Never skip a Justin Resells video ✅
hi, great job, I like your channel.
kindly tel us more about how you avoided VeRO since you are selling many branded items?
Huh? Im so confused…😂
Its his program for ebay tracking sales. He shows it in almost every video.
your can track both
Justin - does Flipwise consider a "sell similar" relist as a new listing? Or when eBay relists after 30 days? Enjoying the program! Thanks
I'm a new subscriber. I love your content, presentation, and attitude. Great stuff!
Hey Jason! Thanks for answering my question! Deb
Thanks.
Sorry for wrong channel - but just to make sure flipwise is not available for continental europe / austria - is that true?
We are not yet available in the EU unlsess you sell on eBay.com
Hi! Appreciate all the info. New to reselling. Do you add buy it now to all listings, even ones newly posted? Do you factor that in to the initial pricing?
I have a video on that: ruclips.net/video/-O32DfKrQy0/видео.html
Always great info!!
Odd Question here! Am I able to run reports from Flipwise? TYIA!!
Yes! But what kind of report specifically?
@@justinresells Sales and expenses
@@johnsymons667 yep. you can generate sales reports by going to the Insights screen. you can run more robust reports using the export feature: help.flipwise.app/article/26-how-do-i-export-my-data and finally we are building an Income Statement / P&L report function now so that should be available soon
@@justinresells thank you so much!! I’m learning a lot from your videos!!
Does flipwise recognize "time to sell" if you end item and sell similar or does that mess up the numbers?
yep! it retains the connection between all listings for the same item
I just don't want to be a hoarder and I don't want to store stuff people don't want to buy.
eBay has been super slow for me posh has been steady. Usually it’s opposite.
@@Zweihorneis there cost involved with scheduled listings? I remember years ago there was??
@Zweihorne hey thanks a million for your response! those sound like good ideas! how can i turn off sales, i tried checking settings? and sorry for so many questions, but would it look weird if i have items going up for sale while my sales are turned off? thanks again for your amswers!
Do you collect receipts from garage sales for tax purposes at end of year ?
great question 😊
How do you with packages lost in transit.
Another great informative video!!
Great tip - thank you!
Thank you

Quicktime
Hey, Justin
If you sell an item on auction for 100 dollars. Then, the buyer sends a cancel request 2 minutes after the auction ends. What do you do?
Grateful.
I would cancel.
If the buyer remorse is strong,They could claim item isn't as described and started a return request
Good video, thanks. We also promote. Use it as an advertising write off.
Excellent video
Your are being offered a lower price to BUY an item, not sell yours 😔
Personally, I find that ebays fees are just too high.
What do you recommend as a better selling platform?
I thought you were gonna say you use 130pt to find best offer prices
130 is great I use that as well as terapeak
@@RawGradeFlip oh ok cool
I don’t agree with promoted listings, especially for second hand sellers. It’s basically trying to make more money putting sellers against each other. If you have good items at a good price they will sell regardless, so why pay EBay extra on top of the fees they charge
People are lazy they don’t scroll they don’t change up the wording, it’s not just putting your items higher it’s putting any of your key words in the face of a buyer using that word or selling that brand. Think of it as flirting. It may not be the prettiest or the best dancer, but this person comes right up to you and says I like you so they get the dance.
I do 3%
Dude if the item is low value like $25 or less.
I find a consistent policy to be better. Plus, giving away money is not the reason I’m selling on eBay.
18:00
I have a camera on my porch. I can prove I didn't get the package. eBay gives me a refund. I also have cameras on my street. I can prove USPS never came down my street. eBay gives me a refund. USPS, unfortunately they lie
Man I wish I had better garage sales in my area. In San Diego, they’re just not it, sadly. Maybe one day! Haha
And then I see your answer with terrapeak... nice. Doesn't work while mobile though, does it?
@@tohonoI saw recently today that Terapeak is now available on mobile. Its in small print, isnt spelled out either, thats all I recall.
@@tohonothey have released it on mobile now too. It’s on the selling tab/icon mid way down.
This is ridiculous. I can get Barry to go ahead and buy my item and pretend like we got a good price or I’ll just look for the lowest price item and use that price so everybody gets a good deal😮 please stop confusing everybody nobody does that dude start off at a penny, and let people bid on it
