Technically Germany, Switzerland and Austria are definitely Central Europe too. I think it's a little sad to adopt the age old stereotype of "East vs West" and have the devide between Germany and Poland. Geographically it's very incorrect. Vienna is more east than Prague.
They included Romania, Hungary And Moldava, So no. If it would be about Slavs, Why not name it "what Slavs think....".
@@gerikiss1306 and vice versa i'm from Poland I have some basic knowledge of french, german, russian and latin, but if it comes to hungarian unfortunately I don't hear nothing even closely similar, it's totally different experience
@@nini5484 it doesn't say Slavic. It says Eastern and Central Europe. Germany, Switzerland and Austria ARE Central Europe.
What 'technically'?? It's geographically nonsensical to even have such a division. Do you even know how geography works? (BTW *geographically* there is no Europe, only Eurasia. The division by the caucasus is an outdated and non-scientific division). The 'west/east/central' division has always been cultural, not geographical. Germany, Switzerland, Austria do not share cultural similarities with these other countries. The Czech republic might be an exception , but that's it.
@@CNFrostXY I Guess being 500 years in one empire (Wich was in frequent contact with Germany And Poland) doesn't make Austria, Czech, Slovakia And Hungary even slightly culturaly related, right? 😅 Being neigbours and having populations mixed Also never influence the culture I Guess :)

I don't understand why some people are so upset because of our Central European identity. You may call us what you want in your culture and language but it doesn't change the fact that we have the right to identify as whatever the hell we want. It is OUR point of view and OUR identity, not yours. And some of us choose to identify as Central European. So what? Deal with it.
Your vision of Europe is not the only one out there and frankly we don't care what feels correct for you. Also, it takes a little bit of knowledge about the history and culture of our region to understand all those fine differences that lay at the base of our ethnic identities. Central and Eastern Europe is not a monolith like so many Westerners view it to be (mostly due to their ignorance about the subject).
I personally identify as Polish, Western Slavic, Central European. You may call me Eastern European if you want although, due to our recent history, it would be a social blunder in my opinion. So please calm down, open your mind a bit to a different point of view and have some respect for us in the comment section.
Westoids feel the need to disregard thousands of years of history in favour of the cold war era division (which was only a brief 45 years, plus it has also become outdated by now) to satisfy their superiority complex.

According to Wikipedia Belarusians and Lithuanians drink 15 litres of pure alcohol a year per capita. The second place belongs to Czechia and South Korea with 14 litres.
Czechs drink a lot of alcoholic beverages, but majority of them is low volume beer which results in lower total alcohol consumption.

The saddest thing is that that Slovak girl did not say a single positive thing about our country, Slovakia. She liked everything else but her homeland. I am disappointed, but not surprised. A patriotism is still taken as a crime in Slovakia. When you compare it with Poles and Russians and South Slavic countries where patriotism is alive, you see that all these people in video think nicely about own culture, kitchen, language, etc. Slovaks are taught to think we are of no value, no history, nothing interesting here... which is so far from the truth. I am glad that there are at least some foreigners to show how amazing Slovakia and Slovaks are. I recommend anybody interested in my culture to check out the Chasing Kimberly RUclips channel. :-))) My husband is Polish and I can see how proud he is of his Polish culture, history, language, kitchen and more.

The witcher Geralt has quite a "Slavic" name, "Slavic" notes can be heard in ono- and toponomics. There is leszy and kikimore - but there is also an Andersen mermaid and a Beast taken from Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont. It should be repeated once more: the cycle about the witcher is a classic and canonical fantasy, with Slavicness in it, as Wokulski told Starski, as much as poisons in a match.
The witcher is probably more Anglo-Saxon than Slavic

The written language is full of characters the other nations don't use (k, q, z, y, w), which are all pronounced as "ș" (romanian "sh") or "j". But I learned very fast the pronounciation and in the second day in the camp where we were hosted (near Zamek Korzkiew castle - 13 km by Krowodrza Gorka, in Krakow), I was reading erotic / porn poems (without understanding the meaning, just pronounciating correctly) to a 19 years old Polish girl. She was really impressed. ;) After that, when they wanted to tell us about the locations we had to reach or a hard word, the organisers asked me to pronounce their names. They sad that I managed myself perfectly with the porn poetry. :))
