You can't even compare Georgian language with other languages. It just stands on its own, completely independent. Even among the Kartvelian groups there are languages that are not related to anything at all: e.g. Svan or Mingrelian
Now I'll tell you something, other Slavic countries apart from Poland sound similar to the way you listen to them, while Russian and Poland sound different
Eh, I'd say it isn't very connected to formal education, but the degree to which you try to seek out information bears some influence on it for sure imo.

Polish uses the latin alphabet like English or German, Russian uses the cyrillic alphabet , both , polish and russian are slavic , but not very similar to each other at all
I don't think they're exactly mutually intelligible although some words are used in both languages and mean the same, ie, dzien dobry (Polish) dobryi dien (Russian), which I think mean 'good day.'
Yes, but alphabets also don't necassarily mean anything in that. You can write most languages in most alphabets, the exceptions being some niche sounds or letters, or lack thereof.

It's also a huge difference to be an Albanian growing up and living in Albania, compared to being a second-generation Albanian immigrant in Germany or whatever other place in the world. Like, the British guy mentioned the Caribbean cuisine he knows better than the typical British one as part of his ancestry; the German girl gave some info on her travels, but didn't say anything about her experience as being part Albanian, so I guess this is what "disqualifies" her as representative of the Balkans. Also, I'm guessing the author of the comment wants to see a battle royale of insults play out between said Balkaners, like "A Normal Day in the Balkans" video kind of thing... Not gonna lie, it sounds tempting to see it, but most young people from these countries actually don't give a fuck about the conflicts from early 90s and don't insult each other over the aftermath of Yugoslavia's death. At least that's what any Balkan-born person ever told me so far.
Polish and many Slavs might seem rude, but they are more honest and straight forward with their language. Where you would have a southern American say: “Bless your sweet heart”; a polish person would be like: “Are you nuts?”
Mmmm Georgian food and wine 🤤 btw. There is an amazing Georgian restaurant in Krakow in Poland, I always go there when I travel to Poland plus have the best Polish liquors 🤤 And sure, British food is known for being quite bad I’m afraid, but living in The UK for many years I have learned that actually the local produce is excellent. And the local restaurants are now trying to regenerate this by creating amazing British foods. Don’t believe me? Even just go to Marks & Spencer and you will understand what I mean. Or a local farmers market in London or in a country side where you can buy incredible British cheese, cider, bread, fruit and veg. It’s all evolving 😊 Btw. I agree, German bread… it’s amazing 🤩 🍞 especially the dark bread varieties. So we all have incredible foods, we just don’t know it always. Great discussion 👌🏼
its quite interesting that Poland is less wealthy than Germany and UK but everytime Im in UK its shocking how many homeless people are there on the streets, begging for money, or just leaving in a tent on sidewalk. I literally never saw something like that in Poland
That is because everyone in the Eastern Bloc and Soviet Union had free housing. Nobody is homeless in the former Soviet Union or Eastern Bloc for that reason
I am Polish and I remember Russian language lessons at school when Poland was still under the influence of communist Russia - CCCP. In general, I hated learning Russian - it's similar to Polish, but there are a lot of differences. At the end of each lesson, the teacher gave us an instruction to learn the next words. It was interesting because the word "zampomnijtie" / "zapomnij" occurs in both languages, but in Russian it means "remember", and in Polish it means "forget". Therefore, I had the extraordinary joy of forgetting the Russian language.

As a Pole I can say that we are poor - in terms of the connection between prices and salaries, we have similar prices to Germany, but we do earn less (the median brutto salary in Poland for 2022 is just a little above 1000euros, when for Germany it's around 4k; the minimal brutto salary in Germany now is 2100euros, polish is 632). And when you compare prices of some products from Lidl/Aldi/Rossman - they are even cheaper in Germany!! On the other hand, services are still kinda cheap here - just ask the ones who emigrated to the UK or Germany why they always do their nails/hair here ; ) So for me, this is how you measure poor/rich - how much you can get for your money. And when I compare how much I can get with 2100euros, to 2100PLN, we're definitely poor.
Dude, you have no idea about economics at all and you write nonsense. The best indicator of the wealth of a typical person in a given country is GDP Per Capita ($59,402 for Germany; $44,345 for Poland; stats from worlddconomics), not the average, median and minimum. And looking at the GDP per capita, you can see how wrong you are with these prices and salaries, even the minimum, average or median you gave false, but everyone can check on the internet. Even if you earn the median in Poland, 20zl gives you definitely less things. And prices are similar, just in Poland we earn less. @The Pretorian Tbh I believe if there are more Polish people living on some area it probably should be part of Poland, if German it should be German. I don't know if u remember, but there was voting made by Polish government back then about where should those lands be merged, Germany or Poland, and people living there decided. I would also add that Germans took quite much people then from inside their country and especially moved to those lands only to win and take more lands, soo... Summarizing, maybe back in the days those areas were German, but it means nothing if current people living on these lands are mostly Polish and feel Polish and want to be merged to their country. Seems reasonable for me. I wouldn't say anything along the lines that Ukraine and other countries should be merged to Poland because those areas were won by us many years ago in wars. Maybe back then it would make sense but not now where most of this people don't want to be part of Poland, they have their own language, culture etc. it really doesn't make sens. If u don't want to believe me, maybe at least u can believe in the definition of "Country". As a Ukrainian, I agree with some points about Eastern Europeans. We are rude - yes, our mentality is more aggressive overall. Maybe, it's special for Ukraine, because we needed to fight for our independence our entire history, and here we are again, but it's true. However, we are more direct. It creates difficulty for me now. I have lived in Germany for 1 year and it's tough for me to understand when people say something to be polite, and when it's true. Also, we are poor - true. When I lived in Ukraine, I earned a 2-3x salary compared to the mid one, but even then I couldn't even think about buying some personal devices for so high price (because the price in Ukraine for this was the same as in Germany). When I heard people mentioning that they have these devices and that they are better than something from the Chinese market, I thought that they are just trying to show that they are reach. Also, for travelling - when you live in a poor country and earn very little compared to other countries' pricing, you cannot afford to go there. I remember I wanted to go to Italy, and it would cost about 4 monthly salaries for 1-week vacation. Now I can afford all of these and it's not that expensive with a Junior position and a very average salary.

But of course every central European country has its own twist to it and also their own dishes.

And when you compare prices of some products from Lidl/Aldi/Rossman - they are even cheaper in Germany!!
On the other hand, services are still kinda cheap here - just ask the ones who emigrated to the UK or Germany why they always do their nails/hair here ; )
So for me, this is how you measure poor/rich - how much you can get for your money.

Russian is not even similar to Belarusian and Ukrainian. Well, now it is, but that is because of 1772-1918 intense Russification. Russians literally wanted to erase other Slavic languages and enforce use of Russian in that period. Compared to other Slavic languages, Russian is least related to them. Russian was created from Ruthenian as core and adding influence of Asian (Siberia) tribes languages to the mix.

The basic mistake is to say that all Eastern Europe or all Western Europe is the same. Among the countries of Eastern Europe are those that are developing very quickly economically (Poland is second, right after China in the world ranking of the pace of economic development ) and those that are developing very poorly, and even have an economic collapse. @@Ivan-fm4eh right you are! 😁
Literally, first line from wiki: "A country is a distinct part of the world, such as a state, nation, or other political entity.".

Germans aren't exactly Western European. They are rather in Central Europe and Eastern Germans have more in common with Eastern Europeans, also relating to history. A better representative of Western Europe is UK, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg...
I feel like Germany is more of a mid-western country and therefore it’s not really able to relate to the western stereotypes as much as for example a French person could
The fact they sat down to try to represent countries that have history of empires and division. Kudos...Europe has a massive history.
What people can take away from this is the diversity of Europeans which they take very seriously. I am from New York City which was settled by Eastern and Western Europe initially and culturally they are very different and they WILL tell you.
They should do more...educate the populace.
