What's New for 2023: Following a full redesign last year, the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder introduces a new off-road-oriented Rock Creek trim level. Wireless device charging now comes standard on the SL, while second-row captain’s chairs are optional on most trims.
The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder harks back to its roots with the new off-road-focused Rock Creek edition. The Pathfinder has evolved over decades from a small two-door SUV in the mid-1980s - Nissan’s answer to the Chevrolet Blazer, Jeep Cherokee(/jeep/cherokee/), and Toyota 4Runner - to today’s three-row family shuttle sharing little with its predecessor except a name.
The new Rock Creek trim evokes some of that old-school mountain goat with off-road-inspired styling, a (slightly) lifted suspension (5/8-inch), all-terrain tires mounted on beadlock wheels, and a tubular roof rack. Synthetic leather and cloth-blend upholstery with orange contrast stitching highlights the interior, while a surround-view monitor incorporates several camera views to help maneuver on the trail. The Rock Creek is also rated to tow up to 6,000 pounds, more than most rivals.
Despite the off-road homage, today’s Pathfinder still makes its natural habitat on pavement. Following a full redesign last year marked by new styling, upgraded interior, and improved powertrain (listless old rubber-band transmission replaced by new nine-speed unit), the Pathfinder has vaulted back into contention with today’s top three-row midsize SUVs, including the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, and Kia Telluride. Offering ample features

Always enjoy your reviews. But it seems like you're always reviewing the highest trim level. I'm guessing most viewers don't have the budget for that. It would be helpful to know more about the more affordable trims. Just a thought. Keep up the good work.
I believe he doesn’t get to pick the trim. He reviews what they send.
@@nicholasolsen4698 fair point.
I agree.
I liked Nissan Pathfinder platinum the most because it has two maps, one is on the infotainment screen and the one I like the most is the map on the dashboard, which car experts don't show features that are not in other cars
Our engine died in our Mazda cx-9 at 140,000 miles. My wife just left to test drive the pathfinder. Solid review sir.
Which is more on ground clerace this Pathfinder or the X terra im looking at both as an option. And what is more comfortable
Does it have apple car play?
we just bought 2 rock creek pathfinders and absolutely luv them
Do they have the bathtub effect? Meaning you sit down inside the vehicle? We have 22 platinum, feels like you are in a old claw tub.. and the brake rotors went bad after 20,000 miles.. a known issue, to us now, not when we bought it..
@@goatboycasto Do youused the Pro-Pilot much? If you do the brakes are working all the time.
@@ClassicFIHD yes all time and brakes do work
@@goatboycasto That would explain why your brakes are shot at 20,000 miles.
@@ClassicFIHD I will say that after a software update in summer it has stopped the hard breaking, no more hard breaking for people mowing grass 20 feet from the road..
Come on Mr Everyman Driver... 5:17 mark is a laugh. There are two buttons on each of 2-row captian's chairs which automatically lift the back of the seat and moves the entire seat forward (so one doesn't have to remove the child seat if one is installed in the 2-row) giving plenty of room to jump to the 3-row. Quick and convenient. How did you miss that?
New transmission makes a huge difference, also the exterior and interior looks fantastic compared to some other makes. It’s a very competitive segment with so many players and their best products. Great video in between..
I like this Baja storm paint color
They need the Xterra back
Yes. That would be great
To compete with CRV and RAV
Oh hell yeah that was a SUV to me plus I love the door handles
I still drive s 2010 X-Terra. I love her but fear her time is nearing an end, 185,000 & now a “sweet” smell from the vents when it starts.
I am bringing her to the dealership but I fear I’ll take one of their Pathfinder’s for a test drive & leave with two vehicles. 😂😂😂😂
But I agree… I’d get another X if they made new ones.
Whattttt I didn’t know it was a 2021 model
@@deontahoward3248 OOPS! Typo. I meant 2010. 😂😂😂😂😂 I did just correct it.
I've had my new SL 2023 (with a deluxe package) for a month. I love the exterior design of the car and I love the comfort, technology, and space of the car even more.
But there is a very NEGATIVE point, the torque
Daily on busy streets, it doesn't have enough power for fast starting. But it's a great travel car, so I bought it.
I switched from Explorer to Pathfinder.
I have a lot of difficulties with the format of the seats nowadays. All are very narrow.
I had a Lexus 450 and I couldn't keep the car because of the seats. I made a travel to California, and it was a nightmare! But don't get me wrong, the car was awesome. Great engine and technology.
I tested the CX90-Mazda, Telluride-Kia, and Accent -Subaru. None of them the seat was comfortable for long hours on the road.
The palisade was very good though, comfortable the width of the seat, but the design I don't like it very much.
I bought the sl yesterday.😂
I have the same vehicle and the torque seems plenty to me. I even towed a 5,800-pound travel trailer with no problems.
I have a 24 SL and have had NO problem moving this thing from a stop. One thing to keep in mind this car has a very low 1st gear so shifting from 1st to 2nd is kinds what makes you feel like the car is sluggish.
I can sit behind myself in all 3 rows. I’m 5’10

pathfinder has the same engine as the 2023 frontiers?
No. Pathfinder 3.5L V6 284 HP, 259Lb/Ft Torque. Frontier 3.8L V6 310HP, 281Lb/Ft Torque
Does it have a spare wheel ?
Yes
Nice SUV , Nissan has made a nice looking SUV
Looks like the old Xterra! They won't make those anymore, it was to good of a value. Bring Back VALUE!
Damn, the calves on this guy! 😮
lol! I was thinking the same thing....
Hello
Rear wheel drive and regular auto trans
Are you John Cena twin?
Didnt know john cena doing car review now. Cant see you though
Very nice, but then the new Pilot came out 😮
With all their fuel injector problems lol
that test track is a joke , that's nothing to show going off road . most of it looks like a lot of driveways I've been on
Good
Why do they call these things SUVs when it looks like it couldn't barely get over a speed bump?
That is not off-road driving at all. To where I live and work that is very soft road, one of the best road so it seems that I have to delete this vehicle from my shopping list
I miss the old school pathfinder, instead of this succor moms car
Nice SUV with the CRAPPIEST ABILITY TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL.
Renault and Carlos Ghosn RUINED this brand’s reliability reputation.
Beautiful SUV and nicer than the competition! 2022 Pathfinder did not have a CVT! It came with 9 speed 2nd gen.transmission.
Beautiful vehicle inside and out. I just don’t trust Nissan’s quality.
Meh. I'll wait for the 2024 Sante Fe. Better MPG and less expensive and better warranty
Smaller vehicle, duh!
@@ClassicFIHD Not by much. 2024 Sante Fe is bigger than the 2023 model, only 5 inches shorters and wheelbase only 3 inches shorter than the pathfinder. And actually more cargo room thanks to smart packaging.
@@zjones9876
What is the cargo capacity of the 2024 Santa Fe? Pathfinder has 80.5 cubic feet with all seats down. The Pathfinder is 3 inches wider. What's the tow capacity? I have already towed 5,800 pounds with my 2023 Pathfinder. Sante Fe looks ugly to me as well and I have no interest in a turbo that runs on expensive high-test gas.
@@ClassicFIHD 75 cubic feet with all the seats down. the price difference in having to buy premium (which you don't need to, you just lose about 20 hp) is more than made up for in mpg savings. It can tow 3,500 lbs in most trims and 4,500 in off road trim which is more than enough for a small boat or camper.
@@zjones9876 2 MPG does not make up for the $1.00 more per gallon for high-test. And I'm thinking if you do not run high-test you won't be getting 25 MPG. I do tow over 5,000 pounds.
Don’t skip leg day
Modern SUVs are nothing more than minivans with non sliding doors. You compete with every sedan based suv. You can’t compete with actual rugged SUVs like the Grand Cherokee and 4RUNNER. Nissan was a good brand decades ago and for some reason they decided to turn their rugged off road capable suv into a tall sedan with no ground clearance and very little suspension travel. This is a joke.
The majority of drivers have no need for a “rugged SUV.” If they ever leave the pavement it is for the gravel driveway to their beach house. I do have a need for that, so I buy a truck meant for off road. The Pathfinder would be for toting my family around.
Nissan please do away with the cvts youll sell more cars people just dont trust them😩
