We bought a 20-foot travel trailer and the Pathfinder tows it with no problem, although gas consumption suffers while towing.

@Doug I agree that the experience at a Nissan dealership is awful. While your car is new, they do a good job taking care of it. I drove a new Pathfinder for a week (rental) while I was car shopping. That is not an easy task for me at 6'4". Ultimately went with the Pilot. I will say the seats in the Pathfinder were probably more comfortable, but the steering wheel felt too far away even when extended to the max, and the space between the door and the seat was too tight. I also had a constant fear of breakong things in the Pathfinder. It looked fine, but there was too much play in the plastics on the controls and steering wheel. The steering wheel felt like a cheap video game controller covered in leather. The drive mode selector was about as rigid as a soda bottle top. There were other areas that left me with concerns about how well it would hold up long term. The driver assistance in the Pathfinder was frustrating. I found it complaining or actually turning off some of the features if I didnt have both hands closer to the 10 and 2 position even for brief periods. The infotainment screen felt like it was slightly angled away from the driver and the tuning knob on the right hand side was a stretch even for me. Another issue, though probably something I would have gotten used to if it were my daily driver, is the placement of the remote start button on the key fob. It is where the Lock button is on most others. On a couple of occasions, I came back to the car with the engine running after thinking I had locked the car, and unlike others I have driven with remote start, it didnt turn off after 15 minutes. I will say the 360° view cameras were good and the overhead view might be a slight bit better than the Pilot. The Pilot also feels smaller and lighter than it should for its size when driving. Though the steering can feel extremely light with the lane assist turned off. Price being equal for similar features, Pilot should hold its value much better with better reliability.

I bought a brand new 2023 Honda Pilot Sport three weeks ago. It is bigger and looks better than previous generations. It's gas mileage is average, performance is OKish, nothing impressive. The brake is not responsive, you have to push the brake harder to get it stopped. But, The second day, the check engine light on. Here is the message:"Emissions system problem. Power may be reduced. See dealer". I immediately drove it to the dealership Service Dept. But, that Service Advisor said I did not make an appointment and has a kind of "do not care" attitude. It took me lots of efforts and almost 5 trips, eventually, they said it a sensor issues which is in some kind of value of the gas tank areas. They put order to replace the value and sensor. But, it has been over 15 days and no ETA from the supplier! Plus, the driver side wiper blade simply flew away the first time I turned it on in the heavy rain. It took three phone calls and two appointments to get the new wiper blade installed because it need to be "ordered" also. On the left side of back window, the bottom trim is not glued well and can easily peel off and has not fixed by the Service Dept yet. Since 1996,I used two Honda Accord which were very reliable. and a Honda Odysessy van which had transmission issues after 6 years. After that, I bought new Acura MDX and drove it for over 15 years and very reliable. That is the reasons I come back to bought this 2023 Honda Pilot. But, looks like Honda's build quality dramatically degraded. If I have choice now, I will NEVER buy Honda cars again. First, the manufacturing quality is very bad from my experience with the brand new Pilot, secondly, the experience with the Service dept is very bad also. Especially with the ordering of parts, it take over 15 days , no ETA ! what's hectic ! From the Honda manufacturer to the Service, the Honda is degrading big time. I will not recommand anybody to buy the 2023 Pilot.
One major difference that i have noticed is the fuel economy, i have a nissan pathfinder 2022 and i can easily get 29 to 30 on highways and long trips, on pilot that is simply not possible. in the long run this would mean nissan pathfinder can save at least $1200 per year. its makes a huge difference in long run
How did you calculate $1200 savings? Hypothetically if you save 5mpg/yr if gas was $3/gal you’d have to drive 60k miles/yr to save $1200. @$4/gal drive 45k miles/year. Typically most people drive 12-15k miles/yr so would be closer to $300/yr if there was a 5mpg savings.
Hahahahaha, it's like comparing appless to rotten food. Never again, Nissan. Your quality, reliability, and more sucks. Nissan its like a Ford, make sure you have a good mechanic, or money to spend at the dealer. 1,000.000 time a Honda.
Boy u know times has changed when the Pilot & Pathfinder after taxes will be almost $60,000. I remember back in early 2000s - 2016, they both were priced around $25k-30k. In the next 5 years, they will 75k
@@CarsandTechInfo in 2030, a Toyota RAV4 will be priced at $60,000 - $65,000. In 2016-2019, the RAV4 was $17,999. Now in 2024, they’re $40,000 - $45,000🥴
I HATE THAT DAMN PUSH BUTTON SHIFTER ON THE HONDA!!! Why in God's name would you ruin a car with that crap.... Number ONE REASON why I won't by another Honda! CHANGE IT HONDA!
KIA? Really? I'll take Nissan or Honda over KIA any day of the week. Yes, KIA got shiny wrapper but it is not as reliable, well ok, it will survive for a year or so... Toyota did ok last year but with their new I-4 Turbo engine line it's not gonna work for me. Between this two I'm going with Nissan Pathfinder defiantly Platinum package in Baja storm color. 😁
Nissan has historically poor long-term quality and reliability. If you’re leasing, this may not be as large an issue. If you’re planning on keeping the car for a while, the Pilot will win every time.
I have had the 2022 Pathfinder for a year and half so far. It's been good smooth and quiet ride . Finally took it on a family road trip recently and the car was amazing. I have an SL trim . I think people will consider Pathfinder after walking into a Honda dealership seeing how overpriced the Pilot is. Nissan has alot to prove with replacing their transmission but I think they will steal some customers.
Yeah..same here bought 2022 SL premium last year. I was about to get the highlander couldn’t justify waiting for 3 months. Our family indeed needed new family car due to our previous leased expired. We’ve done many road trips and the seats is so comfy. The best gas mileage was 8.0L/100km during break in period. I got the boulder grey colour and love the gunmetal rims that flows with the car. Overall, friend of ours really do dig and we get a lot of head turners saying great looking car. We love this car no regrets!!
Pilot VS Grand Highlander I think should be the next one. Both should be really close and I can’t wait to see what you guys think would be over the other!
If you live in the hot country then stick to Honda, Nissans have the worst AC, my sis has the Nissan rogue, her AC is so terrible that I sometimes sweat in the car.
just purchased a pathfinder and very happy with it. liked the pilot too but in my area dealers are still demanding msrp or marking up from msrp and only offering 4-5% financing.. Nissan is discounting slightly from msrp and also was offering 0% making the pathfinder significantly less expensive and a no brainer for me. also i think (personally imo) the pathfinder looks better.
Those Pathfinders be hitting different when I see one pass me with the blacked out v-motion/pathfinder lettering 😍 The Pilot also looks extremely good compared to its last generation. I do notice Nissan/Honda tend to make a lot of similar choices in a lot of their vehicles design elements/features/packages
I just bought the 2023 with the blacked-out grill in 2-tone red with the black roof and black roof rails. Hands down the best looking of all these mid-size SUVs.
We got a 23 Pathfinder Platinum and absolutely love it. The interior is amazing and the biggest seller was physical buttons for the radio, and the storage under the center console. Plus, there still is not any inventory for the new Pilot and heard some first year issues already so glad we got a Pathfinder. And no need to compare to Telluride or Palisade, KIA/Hyundia are throw away cars that'll leave you stranded. Pilot, Pathfinder and Highlander are definitely the top of the segment.
So if comparing the two in the video where the pricing was almost the exact same price then you have to go Honda based on reliability and costs on down the road. If Nissan wants to sell more they should reduce the price by 3-5k.
Great comparison, they are similar vehicles, I would raise Nissan's points a bit considering that Honda-Acura continues to use a timing belt on its V6s and not a chain, as it should.
toyota and honda msrp 50k, then actually paid 55k to have it. nissan msrp 50k, then actually paid 45k to have it. after 5yr, toyota and honda sale 35k, and nissan at 25k. thats the way to make you feel you have superior resale value.
I really like both new redesigns. The popular opinion for the old pilot was that it aged well, but I completely disagreed; it looked so 2016. However the old pathfinder looked like it was from 2010. Really glad you are reviewing the new models.
Bought the 2022 pathfinder SL with the premium package for 45k. You just can’t beat it. 20 inch wheels, 360 cameras, & all the bells and whistles. I like the pilot too, but I just prefer the rugged look of the pathfinder.
@@XDMIIIIIIIII its ridiculously quiet, and the rumble of the engine is really nice too, not too quiet, but not too loud either. Test drove the pathfinder and the telluride and the pathfinder felt so much smoother
you see how many things been changed in their new models, and you know how thoughtful their redesign. they both did great job to let toyota understand his current shrinked highlander model not gonna win in this segment competition. you guys compare the highest trim of the two, but when you go lower trim, honda actually removed the acoustic glass front window on sports trim and acoustic windshield on LX, which meas the lower trim gonna be extreamly much more noise than the one you test. also this year the EXL trim only have front row leather and Leatherrite the 2nd 3rd row seats. cheap honda
Pathfinder - love the zero gravity seats and ProPilot Assist. Better deal than overpriced marked up Honda. Even though the pilot may have a higher resale value, your paying for it up front with the markup and high APR.
I went with a 23 Pathfinder SL. Family of 4 and we came from a 21 Wrangler. I like both, but got a better deal with Nissan. We are enjoying the Pathfinder. Extra 3 inches in the 3rd row would be nice in the Pilot when the occasion rises, but that is not often. We have captains chairs in the 2nd row. The SL comes with everything that a EX-L level Pilot would have. Smaller LED drivers screen, No HUD, and no ventilated seats. I'll wait for next summer to see if we hold or trade for a Grand Highlander or CX-90.
@billyjones589 (48k) MSRP. If I was buying now I could have went under 2-3k. They took my complete jeep loan, so I was pretty happy. The SL we chose has 20" wheels, 2nd row captains chairs, blacked out emblems and most features a Platinum trim has except: - HUD - cooled ventilated seats (I only have heated seats) - memory seats - electronic tilt steering wheel adjustment. Probably a couple of other items, but not really deal breakers.
Thanks for that comparison 👍 We appreciate your effort. I would have to choose Pilot over Pathfinder because of the lake of reliability of the Pathfinder these last couple years...
Actually the V6 in the Nissan is good and the transmission is identical to the previous pilot. As much as Nissan has issues, I wouldn’t worry about this gen pathfinder. Last gen though? I wouldn’t pick up a used one since that’s way too big of a car for a CVT
still go with the honda ...... if they where only rear wheel drive base mazda is going to kill it with the new rear wheel drive cx90 rear wheel drive inline I-6 good review
Both are great. However, no one can touch the current Nissan Pathfinder 18 month lease deals. With One Pay Lease combined with Multiple Security Deposits you can drive a brand new base for $215/month or splurge for a Platinum at around $400/month
Exactly, I planned on getting a Highlander until they switched to the turbo 4 cylinder. That's what led me too look at the pathfinder. What a blessing that was, I love it.
The base model of the pathfinder before taxes is $45,000 Canadian. The pilot base model before taxes is $50,600 Canadian. The pathfinder is the better deal all through the trims as it always undercuts the pilot. $74,000 Canadian for a 2023 Honda pilot black edition??? No way am I buying a vehicle for that price.
Another thing… I know folks in America are tall, but how about we talk about SHOULDER ROOM IN 3RD ROW?!?!?!? THAT’s arguably more impactful for comfort than leg room considering that 2nd row can move forward a bit…
I am in the market. I looked at both. Nissan is winning for me. Ultimately the comfort of the seats especially the driver seat. I melted into the drivers seat it was so comfortable. The Pilot was very uncomfortable and I know it sound weird but there was no where for my elbows. Anyway Nissan for me, bonus my kids found the Nissan more comfortable as well
Idk if the Pilot has the same feature but the pathfinder second row rolls forward by pushing one button and it can do it with a car seat in it. The competitors don’t have that feature and for families that’s a big deal. Especially if you have a baby in your arms and you only have one free hand to use. That’s a whole point or more
Bought my wife a 23 Pathfinder platinum red two tone with the black roof. Captain seats are our favorite part of the interior. We love the car. Took it to Disney and that drive was a dream!
There is no logical comparison between these two vehicles. The Nissan is sporting a few decade old 3.5 liter V6 motor that was not new when it got put into the last generation of Pathfinder that came out in 2013. On the transmission front, Nissan could not afford the risk of putting another POS Jatco transmission into the Pathfinder so they went with the ZF. This proves that Nissan has the engineering capabilities of a worst in class manufacturer. I will concede that Nissan did pull off some styling kudos here. Hopefully people are smart enough to only drive a Pathfinder sourced at a vehicle rental counter.
I used to have a 2012 Pilot for 10 years. Now I drive a 2017 Pathfinder. My wife has a 2021 Pilot. If were to get new iterations in the near future, we'd get either one. Pilot ALWAYS have amazing space, especially for a family of 5...but the new Pathfinder is a very handsome SUV.
I think both are very nice. The big hit on the Pathfinder is the first year bugs downgrading it's reliability statistics. Great move to dump the CVT - they should do that on their whole line.
@@zuhairjanbi1887The only complaint with the telluride was the app. The UVO system is trash. The auto engine off thing stop working. With the Path, I feel like is builded with better quality. Leather feels better
I really like this new Honda Pilot, worse I have an accord and 2 other Hondas before this one. Looks like a great contender. However, even though I never owned a Nissan before, the one feature my wife wanted (Panoramic Sunroof), makes the Pathfinder is better value for money. I don't think this PF will be unreliable. Just take care of the VQ and all should be well. I didn't try to test drive the Pilot simply because I am not paying $10k CAD extra (before taxes) to have worse fuel economy, less towing capacity. PL SL is 23 MPG and I alot of highway which yields 27-29 mpg, driver's seats is 12-way, passenger is 10-way where I am and is 8 passengers.
I'm looking at both of these right now. I have a 2020 Passport and I will tell you, it has electrical issues that make me lean toward the Pathfinder even though Nissan doesn't quite have the reliability reputation of Honda. With the Passport many things just don't work correctly. The cruise control doesn't pace properly, the auto high beams don't ever work, the radio crackles and pops, and the phone audio also crackles and pops.
I test drove both as well as the Toyota Highlander , the Nissan Pathfinder ( in my opinion), was the smoothest , and had the nicest interior, and was the quietest

Dept yet. Since 1996,I used two Honda Accord which were very reliable. and a Honda Odysessy van
which had transmission issues after 6 years. After that, I bought new Acura MDX and drove it for
over 15 years and very reliable. That is the reasons I come back to bought this 2023 Honda Pilot.
But, looks like Honda's build quality dramatically degraded. If I have choice now, I will NEVER buy
Honda cars again. First, the manufacturing quality is very bad from my experience with the brand
new Pilot, secondly, the experience with the Service dept is very bad also. Especially with the
ordering of parts, it take over 15 days , no ETA ! what's hectic ! From the Honda manufacturer to
the Service, the Honda is degrading big time.
😂 madness
No they wouldn't reach that much bc that's where the MDX & QX60 are already priced depending on the model
@@CarsandTechInfo in 2030, a Toyota RAV4 will be priced at $60,000 - $65,000. In 2016-2019, the RAV4 was $17,999. Now in 2024, they’re $40,000 - $45,000🥴
The decision will go to how much discount you will get from Nissan and how much markup or delivering wait time you will tolerate from Honda😊
Honda will outlast Nissan, Nissan has too many issues like transmission problems. Thanks😊😊😊
Honda Pilot better
I would pick the Honda
Nissan has historically poor long-term quality and reliability. If you’re leasing, this may not be as large an issue. If you’re planning on keeping the car for a while, the Pilot will win every time.
really u camper Nissam with honda cars ur insulting the honda brand engine
Не чё не понял ,учите русский язык и будет вам счастье..
Agreed. Also bought the SL model with premium package. You’re not missing much from the platinum at this trim. Great car so far.
You get it back on resale for Honda.
Pilot VS Grand Highlander I think should be the next one. Both should be really close and I can’t wait to see what you guys think would be over the other!
Mazda CX90 vs Grand Highlander is more like it.
Nissan is discounting slightly from msrp and also was offering 0% making the pathfinder significantly less expensive and a no brainer for me. also i think (personally imo) the pathfinder looks better.
yesterday we bought the pathfinder platinum with the same deal, 0% interest we are so happy is so pretty!
I’d take the Pathfinder!
Also me just yesterday, is so beautiful and confortable inside we love it ❤
Those Pathfinders be hitting different when I see one pass me with the blacked out v-motion/pathfinder lettering 😍 The Pilot also looks extremely good compared to its last generation. I do notice Nissan/Honda tend to make a lot of similar choices in a lot of their vehicles design elements/features/packages
I noticed that too about similar options and designs decisions
Overall this was a fairly close comparison.
I just bought the 2023 with the blacked-out grill in 2-tone red with the black roof and black roof rails. Hands down the best looking of all these mid-size SUVs.
@@ClassicFIHD the 2023 what 😂
@@TrussttN01 Pathfinder
We got a 23 Pathfinder Platinum and absolutely love it. The interior is amazing and the biggest seller was physical buttons for the radio, and the storage under the center console. Plus, there still is not any inventory for the new Pilot and heard some first year issues already so glad we got a Pathfinder.
And no need to compare to Telluride or Palisade, KIA/Hyundia are throw away cars that'll leave you stranded. Pilot, Pathfinder and Highlander are definitely the top of the segment.
good review, both options are better than the Telluride.
Honda Pilot 👨✈️
Pathfinder all the way. More in stock and below msrp. Better towing. Seats are awesome
Yeah, the better towing on the Pathfinder is my decision maker.
Honda made best engines in the world , maybe better than Toyota , but just avoid 1.5liter turbo engine
I’m buying the Nissan. The VQ engines are so reliable.
Thanks!
For everyone doging Nissan , Honda pilot Has A long list of Problems Also!!!
Went with a Rock Creek over the Trailsport due to the $7000 price difference.
Honda pilot 2023🎉
The new Pathfindet has 44.5" of front leg room!!! This is for driver and passenger! Great for tall people.
As an investment, Honda and Toyota are far superior in resale value
toyota and honda msrp 50k, then actually paid 55k to have it. nissan msrp 50k, then actually paid 45k to have it. after 5yr, toyota and honda sale 35k, and nissan at 25k. thats the way to make you feel you have superior resale value.
After the warranty expires on both the Pilot will keep running after you bought about 10 or so Pathfinders.
Yeah Nissan reliably sucks since Renault bought them out
I really like both new redesigns. The popular opinion for the old pilot was that it aged well, but I completely disagreed; it looked so 2016. However the old pathfinder looked like it was from 2010. Really glad you are reviewing the new models.
I believed he already did
Yes, we're hoping to compare some more combinations soon 👍
Honda pilot
Pilot body looks like old bronco body where the Pathfinder looks 2024...
Bought the 2022 pathfinder SL with the premium package for 45k. You just can’t beat it. 20 inch wheels, 360 cameras, & all the bells and whistles. I like the pilot too, but I just prefer the rugged look of the pathfinder.
How’s the ride quality? Is it soft?
@xdm1488 oh it feel planted and plush
@@XDMIIIIIIIII its ridiculously quiet, and the rumble of the engine is really nice too, not too quiet, but not too loud either. Test drove the pathfinder and the telluride and the pathfinder felt so much smoother
you see how many things been changed in their new models, and you know how thoughtful their redesign. they both did great job to let toyota understand his current shrinked highlander model not gonna win in this segment competition. you guys compare the highest trim of the two, but when you go lower trim, honda actually removed the acoustic glass front window on sports trim and acoustic windshield on LX, which meas the lower trim gonna be extreamly much more noise than the one you test. also this year the EXL trim only have front row leather and Leatherrite the 2nd 3rd row seats. cheap honda
Honda interior is already outdated
Pathfinder - love the zero gravity seats and ProPilot Assist. Better deal than overpriced marked up Honda. Even though the pilot may have a higher resale value, your paying for it up front with the markup and high APR.
Honda Touring All Day
Honda pilot: lets redesign every year to get the highest markup.
Nissan pathfinder: lets redesign every 10 years
Winner - Nissan pathfinder.
Both are great, but when you compare the price pathfinder has better pricing option than pilot. I would get Nissan.
Nissan has the most comfortable seats in the industry. I had a Murano for 5 years, no issues.
What kind of deal did you get on the Pathfinder?
@billyjones589 (48k) MSRP. If I was buying now I could have went under 2-3k. They took my complete jeep loan, so I was pretty happy. The SL we chose has 20" wheels, 2nd row captains chairs, blacked out emblems and most features a Platinum trim has except:
- HUD
- cooled ventilated seats (I only have heated seats)
- memory seats
- electronic tilt steering wheel adjustment.
Probably a couple of other items, but not really deal breakers.
Thanks for that comparison 👍
We appreciate your effort.
Thank you!
@@CarConfections the pilot has 113 cubic feet
still go with the honda ...... if they where only rear wheel drive base mazda is going to kill it with the new rear wheel drive cx90 rear wheel drive inline I-6 good review
Love the front of the Pilot, but its taillights are so uninspiring and bland.
Love the V 6 because the 4 Cylinders with Turbos just do not have the lifespan.
Pathfinder looks much better than the Pilot so I give it 10 points right off the top lol.
PILOT
pilot looks better
Both are great. However, no one can touch the current Nissan Pathfinder 18 month lease deals. With One Pay Lease combined with Multiple Security Deposits you can drive a brand new base for $215/month or splurge for a Platinum at around $400/month
PLEASE explain I would love a good deal .. Tell me how u structured that deal .. Thank U
I hope these two will be top sellers in their class to show other brands it was a bad idea to downsize their engines in a 3 row suv.
Exactly, I planned on getting a Highlander until they switched to the turbo 4 cylinder. That's what led me too look at the pathfinder. What a blessing that was, I love it.
Pilot for its reliability👍👍
I own a 2006 Honda Pilot, 280k miles with regular maintenance.
Anyway Nissan for me, bonus my kids found the Nissan more comfortable as well
I'd take either of these over a 4Cyl turbo competitor, may bo get the best gas mileage but Honda and Nissan make some reliable and good sounding V6
13:35
Pathfinder 56.8 decibels Pilot 59.6 decibels and no .5 point for the Pathfinder? 🤔
I bought My wife 2023 Honda Pilot and kept My 2005 290,000 Miles still drives Like New ! They are Wonderful Vehicles ❤️😊
Idk if the Pilot has the same feature but the pathfinder second row rolls forward by pushing one button and it can do it with a car seat in it. The competitors don’t have that feature and for families that’s a big deal. Especially if you have a baby in your arms and you only have one free hand to use. That’s a whole point or more
Both are nice, but I will chose the Pilot!
Bought my wife a 23 Pathfinder platinum red two tone with the black roof. Captain seats are our favorite part of the interior. We love the car. Took it to Disney and that drive was a dream!
I bought the same with the premium package. Last weekend I towed a 5,600-pound travel trailer with no problems.
The Honda engine is by no means a new development. It still uses 90’s timing BELT.
I like both , but I have a Pathfinder right now , great vehicle , the Honda , is a smoother ride
What I only like about the Pilot is the dual exhaust. other than that, Path for me.
The dash design is a but clear to me compared to the pathfinder.
Honda all day long. Great video thank you.
You're welcome!
Pathfinder is the way to go.
Please MDX vs Pilot
One requires a bigger budget. End of review.
I'd go with Pathfinder, just because of second row seat flipping with car seat installed.
After test driving all models of the same level, I chose pathfinder . love it
I think both are very nice. The big hit on the Pathfinder is the first year bugs downgrading it's reliability statistics. Great move to dump the CVT - they should do that on their whole line.
I would most all the thumbs up are from Nissan owners who had one of the CVT's that failed before 100,000 miles.
$5000 bucks to fix a design flaw.
I'm a Honda guy since day one! But I'm in love with my Pathfinder Platinum. I trade in my 2020 Telluride for a 2023 Platinum and wow!
What is your opinion on both pathfinder vs telluride?
@@zuhairjanbi1887The only complaint with the telluride was the app. The UVO system is trash. The auto engine off thing stop working. With the Path, I feel like is builded with better quality. Leather feels better
4wd pathfinder…. I like the Nissan . better interior looks more modern, better screens I like the design better. They are very similar but Nissan wins
Just purchased a 2023 Pathfinder Platinum over Pilot for seat comfort. Honda seats just do not work for me. Excellent gas mileage and comfort.
I can see Honda and Nissan are stepping up their game, Both design looks insane!
There was a recall for this they have to rip car apart to replace all the connectors. There’s a video. Insane. But have it done if radio is crackling.
About equal until you get to the handling and transmission. Advantage Honda. Only reason I haven't picked up the Nissan, the ZF 9 speed.
Nissan pathfinder Looking awesome, honda pilot good for reliability ,
