I'm a Building Designer from Australia, so I'm really fascinated with your build! How did you go about designing the shed for the solar panels? I’m interested to know what is the purpose of the bricks at the lower level of the wall, and why you rendered them? I also read in one of your reply comments for this video that the houses in Mentawai's are "silent" houses. What does that mean?
I also want to say that I am SO impressed with the chainsaw operater and how accurately he cut the palm trees! Wow!!

The extra dark room can be a future nursery for your baby. Now with electricity, it can be easily lighted up. But it will be a challenge to send the child to school in future.

I can tell you from watching quite a few other home builds from many places in the world your home building progress is moving along quite well compared to other people's journey. Plus many of these other homes have to combat with very cold winters with snow.

Your life on the island is fascinating ... Marjolein you will have to find other things to keep these videos going. How about getting some animals, chickens that lay eggs, etc and starting serious gardening, making compost, etc. Planting fruit trees, etc. You are going to run out of content otherwise.

Hey Danny! Ja het kan hier inderdaad redelijk serieus stormen af en toe 😂 vooral hevige regen hier in de tropen is wel een ding. Daarom dat de huizen hier allemaal op “stilten” staan. Ook de daken zijn speciaal ontworpen om hevige storm en regen aan te kunnen ;)

Yes there’s quite a few mosquitoes here, but mostly in the evening.

Yes, in the Mentawai Islands it’s not common to use coconut wood for building as there are a lot of other and better choices. But in Java, it gets used quite often. The wood is rather soft but for our shed it’s fine 😉
