It actually looks very cool... NO significant rust, needs some wheels, tires and a nice clean-up will make a pretty nice back to the basics SUV... This thing is screaming "Save me!" You can't save every car that walks through, but if any truck deserved a shot, this one is it.
davemc187 I had to order one to get a manual transmission. I told the salesman at the Chevy dealership that I wanted a black one, no frills other than air conditioning, and the biggest engine. He tried to sell me the ones on the lot that in no way resembled what I wanted. I left and went to the GMC dealership, told him what I wanted, and plunked down the down payment. I had it in 3 weeks.
A NO rust SUV like that is very rare nowadays. You should sell it to someone who'll be willing to put in a little elbow grease to fix it. IF you do sell the thing as a whole, be sure to include some wheels ^^
Well, I think the cable under the seat is an trunk release cable. Have seen it in enough vehicle and it's a pretty common thing on some 80s and 90s cars. It's mechanical to rough to save I think. Maybe you can put some wheels on it, hook up a battery and see if it's starts otherwise sell it as an project. Or find a donor one with rust and use it for the mechanical parts that are broken or missing on this one. Most of the time rust is the biggest issue on these ones...
Lot of good parts! The fact its a 4 door 2wd 5speed blazer is rare. Not like million dollar rare. But its screaming "Save Me!!" I have a 2wd 2dr 1988 s10 Blazer. Love mine to bits.
Oh man, what a rare duck. 94, 2wd, 4 door, 4.3 vortec with tbi intake, NV3500 5 speed, and loaded sle model. DEFINITELY had to be a special-ordered unit back in 93-94. I wish I was down there, id save that beauty in a heartbeat! I love those little S-trucks, ive had a bunch of them. they are getting to be a rare commodity up here in the great white north, aka Michigan lol. any chance you or one of the guys there is gonna try and save it??
The 4-door version they started making once they realized that the Cherokee and Explorer (both four doors) was not a fad. It doesn't look too bad as an afterthought. The two door versions were better looking IMHO.
I used to have a weird thing for these too, my mechanic friend casually said, "I couldn't never keep one of them running..." I didn't think much of that til I really did become sunk in one, now I listen to double-negatives and ASE Silver advice more. Many trips to Shelby and just a big money pit. I run across tips n wonder if I should have tried this or that, but in the end if ya running look at what u get best case scenario... Im sure that other folks can do better with these than me, and that's why if I ran across one for free it would end up in your yard immediately, less the spindles for my H Body. No offense, I prefer carb 350 to any Vortec. Thanks for the videos, cheers!!
I am thinking that this may have been a recovered theft given how the column around the the key switch is all busted up. If it had comprehensive coverage, the insurance company probably would have totalled it out because it probably doesn't have a great deal of value. I am pretty sure that the Blazers and Jimmys from this era had a chip key. The busted console and key switch may have damaged the chip reader which would have prevented it from starting. That is a very nice Jimmy for the age. I can't say I have ever seen a 4-door with a manual transmission. I do hope someone saves this one. It looks to have been well cared for during its life and I think it deserves to still be on the road. if the old 4.3 cannot be gotten to run, this would be a great V8 swap project, especially with the manual transmission!
Negatory, I dont think the chipped key thing came around until the later 90s. My 93 did not have a chipped key. So far it hasnt been saved. But Im still holding faith
I never understood how cars could make it past 150K. You must live down south somewhere. Where I come from a car turns into Martian dust after 15 years or so.
+Lone Wolf They must not put too many chemicals on the road in the winter then. Here in Chicago most junkyard cars are in the 80K-150K range, some have a little more if they were driven a lot. Most cars last around 15 years or so, but there are a good number of rusty as hell 60s-70s-80s sleds too.
The ONLY new vehicle my late father ever bought was a 1982 Chevrolet S-10 truck when he was 43 years old. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the square body S-10s. That is very rare to have a 4.3 with the 5 speed, definitely not a California truck! Hope it gets saved!!!!!!
Our neighbors, one of my childhood friends had that model GMC Jimmy. It was dark green, grey leather, digital dash(looked real cool), I think it had pushbutton 4wd, that was right around the time that actually became a thing. That truck was a huge pos for them, always in the shop, had to have a new engine put in it, keep in mind this was late 90's/early 00's, it was maybe 4-7 years old when that happened. Their other SUV, a 1990ish Nissan Pathfinder 4 door, V6, 5 speed, groovy burgandy velour interior was a much nicer, less trouble prone vehicle, despite it having something like 400,000 miles on it at the time lol.
What a neat Jimmy! That 4.3 with 5 speed is awesome! Someone should use their rusty one for parts and save this one! I miss my S10 Blazer alot! My brother's 93 S10 Blazer has 350k miles and keeps on keeping on!
The plastic piping on the 80-90s car always stuck out like that. Lol. I had a laugh seeing that as I had forgotten. Loved in the door ash trays that spun like that.
Why do people down there throw away cars like this?!?!? I'm driving a 2001 Subaru Outback that has more holes than Swiss cheese! If I was down there I would buy that in a minute.
Interior is a lot like my 86 Chevy S-10. Unfortunately time did take its toll on it and so the fenders are bad, the one side of the bed is bad, the tailgate is shot with both hinges rusted off. But the interior on the other hand, is actually quite good! There is a small crack around the speaker like you showed here, but the doors are perfect! But of course the original owner loved their base models so except for an upgraded motor and cooler for snowplowing, everything else was as base as you could get it. Still very fun little truck though and only 58,000 original miles on it.
That SUV was a nice vehicle at one time. 205K is good service. I liked the 4.3's. A neighbor where i used to live had a GMC S15 with one for years and seemed like a great truck. However, the starter failed and was a real pain to change, made worse by the fact that the rebuilt starter didn't work and he had to fight this all over again!
That is exactly what i did when i found my 1992 s10 shortbed 4.3 daily driver with only 93k org miles. The 1st owner that owned the truck had passed away and it sat for many years in the driveway with junk piled in the bed, sitting under trees with sap dripping on it.The tires were rotted.I got it for $800. I pour gas down the throttle and she fire right up after sitting for so many years.
Floor cable maybe a driveshaft disconnect for a TOAD? Flat tow behind motor home vehicles will have that to disconnect the driveshaft so the trans doesn’t turn while towing @jaysmart
4door 5speed thats rare! I have a 94 jimmy just like it but 4wd. Needed an engine i got a jasper tbi 4.3 in there now. Save that one! If noone wants it ill have to get my ass down your way and pick it up! Those with a manual are perfect!
I definitely wanna see more of this especially a video of pressure washing it I want to see it cleaned and I really would love to have that Grill I would buy it for my 85 gmc s15 I have I been trying to find that grill but haven't had no luck till now and it's in good shape
SmileMore. Yup I've had them in S10s to. But it was a Ford motor first but not passed 85 as far as my research goes. Trying to find another ranger 85 with the 2.8 is a long shot! It's setup a little different then the Chevy one, both were good motors I thought.
SmileMore. Sorry wrong reply I had three come through at the same time for the same channel but anyway yeah those Blazers are cool to have. I'm always on the lookout for one myself
I measured the length of the wheelbase between the 2 door and 4 door square body Blazer's a few years back just to see, it's only 7", it looks a lot longer.
Wow that is in great condition, usually the frame is shot on them or the rocker panels are blown.. really sweet Jay , you should be able to make some good money off that bad boy in parts ! I too also have had the door opener on the driver side stick on an S10 that my friend let me drive..it comes with age lol.. also yes i hate the side post batteries makes it hell ..
I gave it a go today, it does not have any spark. Maybe a bad coil or something in the distributor. I may try again sometime next week if I get a chance.
That knob might be a custom fuel door release??? I know those fuel doors didn't lock, so maybe they installed one???? Or it could be for some James Bond gadget, like Thumb Tacks or Oil Slick😂😂😂
Save it save it save it save it save it save it save it save it!!!! Damn she's clean. My pops left me a 92. Outside it was beautiful, underneath, absolutely gone. Killed me to junk it. Looking back now I was only 18 so I fucked up.
Oh man, i would love to have that truck, it would match my dad's 92 s10 4.3 5 speed 4x4 ext cab. This one even has nicer paint and interior. And I could get a motor.
kinda sad to see these now rare suv i mean if you were around in the 90's these were a common sight now yer lucky to see a few, these were good trucks i'd buy them if i had the money,
My friends bought a new 1993 sonoma like that with the 2.8 and 5 speed. It ran great but was one of the most gutless engines ever. You had to wind each gear out pretty far just getting on the freeway or going up a hill.
I had a 91 S-10 with a 2.8 and a 5 speed. Those 2.8s were absolute garbage. The only saving grace was that it had a 5 speed slapped on the ass end of it. Man, that engine was a dog.
Probably went to rebuild the column. There are 4 crash pins in the column and when people pull themselves up & in via the steering wheel, the column starts getting the "Death wiggle."
I love them too, they look just cool enough. Do you have anymore 9th Gen F-150’s you can do a video on? I just got a 1996 F-150 and I’m really into them.
Had a 95 gmc Jimmy black color black leather interior 4wd push button on the dash automatic.. killed me to let it go the main engine seals went I had no where to park it till I had the money to fix it. Even then dump some oil in and it kept chugging along! Same 4.3 vortec and had the Allison transmission I was told.
My uncle had a 91 S10 Blazer 4 door he got brand new. The fan switch on his was bad. Worked fine on high but as soon as you put it on low, it would blow the fuse.
I was wondering about a locking rear end? Ive seen the state service trucks have setups like that for the rear ends to lock for when accessing power lines.
IDK. That was obviously a civillian vehicle, though. I've seen levers just like that in otherwise non-towable vehicles being dragged behind RVs, but w/ automatics. If it had wheels still on it, I'd say let's trace that sucker down.
I vote to save it too.
It actually looks very cool... NO significant rust, needs some wheels, tires and a nice clean-up will make a pretty nice back to the basics SUV... This thing is screaming "Save me!" You can't save every car that walks through, but if any truck deserved a shot, this one is it.
I've got one too many projects going on to add this to the mix, I do hope somebody can scoop it up though!
Will it start?
Can you do a will it start video
teddy Clark no, it does not run
No, it gotta die! Crushed into a tiny cube... That's the way economy goes!
Very nice. Rare to see one in a 5-speed manual like that. Could make someone a fun project to rebuild.
davemc187 I had to order one to get a manual transmission.

Or find a donor one with rust and use it for the mechanical parts that are broken or missing on this one. Most of the time rust is the biggest issue on these ones...
These had an electric button to pop the rear hatch glass, it was located on the radio bezel panel in that square hole.
I was thinking Locking rear differential maybe ?
release for hidden drug storage box
Jay Smart Maybe it controls the parking brake?
Lot of good parts! The fact its a 4 door 2wd 5speed blazer is rare. Not like million dollar rare. But its screaming "Save Me!!" I have a 2wd 2dr 1988 s10 Blazer. Love mine to bits.

I had a 93 s-10 nv3500 with a small block tbi 350 plug&play summit mounts$headers 11' clutch good to go
I live in michigan like you and see no old blazers or s10s. Mostly cadillac brougham
Im michigan tooo
Michigan too and haven't seen one of these in years
Use to have a 92 s10 4.3 Great motor. Besides eating gas. Never seen a 5speed in the blazer (SUV) bodies.
I have seen a few but arent very common! Especially in a four door !
The s10 Blazer 5 speeds in 1st and 2nd gen are rare
Had 2 door 89. Miss it
Best 4 wheel drive I've ever had. This is almost worth fixing up
Had me a 1990 S15 Jimmy 2 door with the Gypsy Package, 4.3 V6 and 4wd. damn I miss that more than my Jeep cherokee xj.
They were good competition for one another. But that old jeep straight six outlived them.
The 4-door version they started making once they realized that the Cherokee and Explorer (both four doors) was not a fad. It doesn't look too bad as an afterthought. The two door versions were better looking IMHO.
Saabkyle04 is probably watching this and crying his eyes out. I would.
I used to have a weird thing for these too, my mechanic friend casually said, "I couldn't never keep one of them running..." I didn't think much of that til I really did become sunk in one, now I listen to double-negatives and ASE Silver advice more. Many trips to Shelby and just a big money pit. Save it please someone save it dont let it get ate up for parts😭 damn nice blazer

Jay Smart, you're not alone. The S10 trucks have been a favorite of mine most of my life. Especially the first-gen Blazer S10 (two door).
I think SaabKyle saw this and had a stroke
Used to have one with 450k miles on the original motor and it also had a 5 speed manual
I never understood how cars could make it past 150K. You must live down south somewhere. Where I come from a car turns into Martian dust after 15 years or so.
Scott Krafft north dakota my pickup has 248k miles on it and its body has no rust on it
+Lone Wolf They must not put too many chemicals on the road in the winter then. Here in Chicago most junkyard cars are in the 80K-150K range, some have a little more if they were driven a lot. Most cars last around 15 years or so, but there are a good number of rusty as hell 60s-70s-80s sleds too.
Scott Krafft heres a word of advice never buy a dodge i hate mine some much.
+Lone Wolf It's a bit too late for that buddy; already learned the hard way. My mother's died at 46K (yes 46K). Rusted faster than a 90s Hyundai.
I own two Jimmy/Blazers, and (despite all of the crap they've put me through) I love them.
My favorite body style of that series. Drop in a 350, lift it, and have fun.
Clean up, put some wheels and sell it
Need to dig around and see what wheels I have !
Jay Smart buy that sucker now......right now....restore it
Jay Smart okay nice
Jay I’m not even a Chevy/GM guy but even I know that you’ve gotta save this thing man!! SAVE IT!
I had a 1989 s10 blazer 2 door rear wheel drive with a 4.3 v6 loved it back in the early 90's
They were great little trucks
Would you consider Pressure washing it I want to see how good that paint looks and I bet everybody else would like to see us well..thank you
*do you know how many years i searched high and low for one of these trucks set up just exactly like this one is? 2wd with a 5sp is rare AF*
Our neighbors, one of my childhood friends had that model GMC Jimmy. It was dark green, grey leather, digital dash(looked real cool), I think it had pushbutton 4wd, that was right around the time that actually became a thing. that black gmc jimmy reminds of mine I had a 93 4x4 gmc jimmy 4.3 vortec SLT package with the sunroof
You need to save that Jimmy!!!
I've got a 2001 blazer with 230000 miles on it and the body is in perfect shape I love it I'm turning it into my POV for running calls.
Interior is a lot like my 86 Chevy S-10. Unfortunately time did take its toll on it and so the fenders are bad, the one side of the bed is bad, the tailgate is shot with both hinges rusted off. I think I need to add this to my collection....
put some wheels and tyres on it , give it a good power wash , and it's a still a good truck .

Besides missing the tires and the steering column hanging not a bad truck.
Try and start it you know you want to.
Floor cable maybe a driveshaft disconnect for a TOAD? Flat tow behind motor home vehicles will have that to disconnect the driveshaft so the trans doesn’t turn while towing @jaysmart
I have a 93 Chevy blazer s10 Lt Tahoe ment I love it to death it’s my project truck!! Save it for sure it deserves a chance!!!
4door 5speed thats rare! I have a 94 jimmy just like it but 4wd. Needed an engine i got a jasper tbi 4.3 in there now. Save that one! If noone wants it ill have to get my ass down your way and pick it up! Those with a manual are perfect!
Your not the only one I love that year of GMC Jimmy what a rare mix tho I would try to save it
The body on that is very clean
I definitely wanna see more of this especially a video of pressure washing it I want to see it cleaned and I really would love to have that Grill I would buy it for my 85 gmc s15 I have I been trying to find that grill but haven't had no luck till now and it's in good shape
I wish I could find a good running jimmy with low miles. They're great little trucks and then I could say, Jimmy drives a Jimmy!
This one has some higher miles. But its in very savable condition.
Jay Smart I'd totally consider it if I had the room and I was closer! Totally a fixer upper though. Nice find.
That's rare in the Minitrucker world! Even better when they have that digital cluster. Theres guys out there lookjng for those door's with all power.
Frank M i got one its a oldmobile bravada 1994
I have a really early 90 four door with digital dash. 200k on it. Still pretty good shape.
A rare find! Whats the story on the black monte behind it?
I measured the length of the wheelbase between the 2 door and 4 door square body Blazer's a few years back just to see, it's only 7", it looks a lot longer.
I had an uncle who drove an early 90s Jimmy like that one for ages, but thanks to Minnesota winter weather, the frame eventually rusted away on it.
Save it and possibly make a video of you pressure washing it
I personally will not be saving it, but for giggles I could probably pressure wash it
Yes I agree I wanna see that too all cleaned up
A 1994 Jimmy with a manual transmission and RWD is VERY rare, pretty much all of them were 4wd with a 4 speed automatic transmission
SAVE THAT TRUCK
OK :D
I Like Your Videos 👍
Save it
This makes me sad I’m an avid s series enthusiast. Don’t seem many of those left.
That cable is to release the drive shaft so it can be towed behind an RV that would be why the high miles but good condition
I had a 92 Tahoe Blazer. It was a "luxury" trim, great truck other than the fact it didn't run...
I’m going to guess they towed it behind a rv and that cable is a driveshaft disconnect.
Love to buy that as is and restore it.
I always appreciate a rust free truck.
I love how he says "SCRAPPED?!" on these videos when most deserve to be there haha.
There shoulda been a nighttime exclusive commercial for these vehicles that would go, “Jimmy, get your ass over here!”
Use to drive my crazy on my 93 doorhandle. But I never did anything about it either! lol
Put a battery in it and see what happens! And I'm sure you can find 4 matching GM wheels around there for it!
I gave it a go today, it does not have any spark. Maybe a bad coil or something in the distributor. I may try again sometime next week if I get a chance.
Another rust free truck that should be fixed and not parted out.
If you snag all four factory fender flares they're worth it to put on your s10. I been looking for a set forever.
BravadafieD i have a set i could sell you
Save it. Clean it and daily it.
10:32 what’s that Monte Carlo doing there
The knob under the driver's seat probably has something to do with the rear axle, but judging by how easily it moves, I'd say it's been disconnected.
I literally just bought a Jimmy the other day!!!!
MADD!!!I'd love to find a 4dr five speed!!!!
Man a 5 speed manual behind the 4.3, that's not too common. Hope you save it man.
EDIT: oh, no key, well least you're parting it out
That will make a good fixer upper
You can't find those older model blazers here in ohio unless its full of rust. Thats an easy fix.
kinda sad to see these now rare suv i mean if you were around in the 90's these were a common sight now yer lucky to see a few, these were good trucks i'd buy them if i had the money,
My friends bought a new 1993 sonoma like that with the 2.8 and 5 speed. It ran great but was one of the most gutless engines ever. You had to wind each gear out pretty far just getting on the freeway or going up a hill.
Glenbo24 That's the exact truck I learned to drive stick on. A 93 5spd 2.8 2wd Sonoma. Gutless wonder for sure. It was barely 5 years old at the time.
I had a 91 S-10 with a 2.8 and a 5 speed. Those 2.8s were absolute garbage. The only saving grace was that it had a 5 speed slapped on the ass end of it. Man, that engine was a dog.
Probably went to rebuild the column. There are 4 crash pins in the column and when people pull themselves up & in via the steering wheel, the column starts getting the "Death wiggle."
that is a 86-95 toyota pickup/4runner with a 22re 4wd power steering setup that is in the back seat.
Save that truck. Also I think that cable is the gas cap release
I love them too, they look just cool enough. Do you have anymore 9th Gen F-150’s you can do a video on? I just got a 1996 F-150 and I’m really into them.
We have a few but they are just completely stripped down
Cool save it :)
That's cool I have one exactly like that except mines is 2 door 5sp
Had a 95 gmc Jimmy black color black leather interior 4wd push button on the dash automatic.. killed me to let it go the main engine seals went I had no where to park it till I had the money to fix it. Even then dump some oil in and it kept chugging along! Same 4.3 vortec and had the Allison transmission I was told.
BrambosWorld you were told wrong about the transmission.
My uncle had a 91 S10 Blazer 4 door he got brand new. The fan switch on his was bad. Worked fine on high but as soon as you put it on low, it would blow the fuse.
Interesting. Did he ever figure out the issue ?
They are so hard to find around me!
Keep it do it back up its to good to scrap
Is that a gas tank pull tag, to open the fuel door so you can put gas in. If not, I feel like I've seen one very similar to it before
Obviously, it is the dip stick for the rear differential oil. Just walk to the front of the car.
The wasps in the brake drum when he reached for the drum...
I want it!! Can never find one around here.
I think that's a drive shaft disconnect lever. Must've towed it behind an RV at one time or something. Do a pressure wash video of it!
But then again, it's a manual, so that wouldn't make sense, would it?
I was wondering about a locking rear end? Ive seen the state service trucks have setups like that for the rear ends to lock for when accessing power lines.
IDK. That was obviously a civillian vehicle, though. I've seen levers just like that in otherwise non-towable vehicles being dragged behind RVs, but w/ automatics. If it had wheels still on it, I'd say let's trace that sucker down.
Headlights and grille would be awesome to put on the wall
Nice project, very clean body
Who doesn't hate the side post batteries ? I would trace out where that cable pull goes and see what it might have went to.
Man that thing is in great shape it shouldn't be sentenced to death
could you do something like a Will it Start series? where you try to start some of the cars that come to the yard
It's in good shape
