Although I do appreciate the Indian representation in this game, that hairstyle is giving 90's Disney Jasmine vibes. That worked because Jasmine was very stylized and her hair broke the silhouette around her head in particular, mimicking volume, aside from the massive plait. I just found that interesting as an Indian. A lot of modern Indian women don't often conform to this single or double plait look, since it's a counter to looking attractive for a lot of people. I got an ad for this on social media a couple weeks ago and it didn't even have a wikipedia page and I could barely find any traditional coverage for it. Weird because it looks like a game with some money behind it.
It still doesn’t look like a game for me, especially when I have so many others to play, but I’m shocked they went with a 50 dollar price tag. If they had gone with ~25 they would’ve at least had a chance of getting some sales.
This is why I watch Mort, he doesn't jump on hype train/hate train and gives objective reviews where he can list negatives without angry ranting. Don't think I'll pick this up even on deep sale.
@@bxile730 Don't think this game had any sort of hype train, I was just speaking in general about some creators hyping things up or hating on things to an unnecessary degree just to get more clicks.
It's because he already had the game before anybody. Then they BARELY advertized the damn thing. Namco/Bandai must have been forced to deal with this flop
Some of the ruins in this title look to have straight up copied assets from Jedi fallen order, like to the point where I'd really like to see a side by side comparison of the meshes between the two games. Most of environments look really good and the setting has a well realized aesthetic but there does appear to be some copy pasting going on here.
So.... the ending though I jus rolled credits. The game gets very fun after u get the Faze ability. I'm jus upset at the abrupt end. The world buildin is pretty cool but where will this story go? I enjoyed what I played 4 sure though
To the people who are salty because someone's opinion of a game differed from their own and think the only explanation for this is foul play, bribery and unethical enrichment: You're making a fool out of yourself and nothing more. Getting your panties tied in a knot over a difference in matters of taste speaks volumes about your mental acuity and overall emotional maturity. This is a glaring personality deficit and entirely insufficient. Do better.
I'm nearing the end of this game. Playing on PS5. I actually like it and I don't think that it's overpriced. But also, technically, it could be more polished and I expected a bit more of the story. Characters could be better. Gameplay is the star here. Would give it a 7/10 so far.
Thanks for the video. Your reviews seem to be getting more downvotes than usual. After effect of Dragon Age? Hate clicks FTW! Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.
For some reason this footage makes me think of "a plague tale: innocence". Similar production values, similar graphical style etc. Also stealth focused. Maybe before €10 I would try this. Setting sounds interesting though.
I think theres some really great ideas this game tried to capture. Its unfortunate that theres quite a bit of bugs that offset the vision. Maybe better next game
I finished it aswell to form my own opinion on the "hardest" difficulty, its a mid game truly in the middle. Graphism are okeyish, story is too short not enough build-up for the stakes, stealth is meh but the combat is fun when you understand what the devs tried to do. I just rushed enemy camp punching everything like a wallmart jedi, was fun. Not worth 50$ tho, make it 20 or 30
kind of amazing how big games are blowing it now days. award shows need to add a new award called the biggest bomb. Like i think it peaked withb 30 players lol
So in summary it's like Bound by Flame for example, with interesting lore and universe, very short story and a bit janky. Will buy it on sale, thanks! Been looking for something completely new.
I like the way this looks but yeah thats a bummer about the overall size, and that the story tends to be told rather than shown. I've never understood that decision with this medium. It's a choice for sure, but why not utilize more visuals. Then there's the price... yikes As always, appreciate the time and effort!
Honest feedback: Please include your opinion on the overall quality of the writing (dialogue and story), not just the story itself. I think it would enhance your reviews and give a sense of the care taken into making the product.
When I first saw this it reminded me of the RPGvania game Ender Lilies where you level ghosts and the attacks look similiar, though it is 2D and not 3D here. Also that stealth we are seeing in these AAA games is so dated. The creativity in the AAA space is basically zero.
I'm a bit baffled how a no hype game that clearly isn't a AAA game (no AAA game launches at $50) is getting dunked on like it is. It's just another underfunded game that isn't terribly good, but I guess we live in a world where a no hype, not quite budget bad game is "killing the industry".... somehow. The game doesn't even have a wikipedia page, no one was banking the future on this.
Underfunded? It had at least a 4 year development cycle (if not much more) and it was published by Bandai Namco. This isn't an indie studio grinding away for 2 years on loans from mom.
@uvicjames there's plenty of low-budget studio movies that have much bigger budgets than indies... doesn't mean they had enough money to pull off an ambitious vision. Look at any of what they released and tell me they had a big budget. I'd be amazed if they spend more than a couple hundred thousand on the webisodes. The game is below the usual $60 price point (much less the increasingly normal $70), which indicates they didn't spend very much developing it. There's almost no marketing behind it... i did a news search and it's almost exclusively stuff on their website that didn't get picked up by anyone until about a month ago when a few sites decided it was everything wrong with gaming. These guys were trying to create a multi-media sci-fi franchise, and their result could have been used for Witness Relocation because it's clear no one invested the kind of money necessary to do that with a new IP. Point to one thing that looks like they seriously invested in this.
Mortym is the best. unbiased reviews from someone who specializes in the RPG genre, Strictly about the gaming. You can tell who’s really playing games and who is just online whining and crying 💯
My main issue with this game besides those issues you brought up in your video was balance during the boss fights. This is not advertised as a Souls or Elden Ring like game but the bosses are designed much like those in the two games mentioned. Multiple tiers of them that you have to defeat. In most cases you are strongly disadvantaged because they have weapons and you have nothing but your fist and feet. In the case of many of the main bosses many of the skills you would employ to get an edge on them are not possible because they all have abilities that neutralize them. I have played this game and love the story, love some of the game play features, but I absolutely do not like the bosses and find it so frustrating primarily because I expected a little difficult in a narrative action role playing game but not Souls or Elden Ring like, really! How am I suppose to defeat that? I have uninstalled the game and will go on to something else as this is a 'Paint Me Disappointed Game!"
After watching some of the characters dialogue in this game its a hard pass for me. But still liked the review. If you like the game buy it play and enjoy. Just not for me.
Man, this comment section is infested with clowns who are mad that your review of DA: Veilguard didn't conform to their pre-conceived hatred of the game. And this isn't even the Veilguard video lmfao. Talk about sad and pitiful.
That's one thing I like about the algorithm: best way to not support a creator is to not engage, but that's basically a Sisyphean task for these people.
as someone who couldn't give a flying flip over 'value', thank you for applying the same review criteria to ALL your games. all that matters is how the game plays - 99% of games can be test run before purchase now, if you waste money without trying it out first, that's entirely on you.
100% of games can be test run after purchase as well thanks to the fact that you can always refund before you get to 2 hours of playtime. And 2 hours is usually more than enough to judge whether a game is trash or not.
This game looks all cool but it looks like I’ll be selling my disc; glad I didn’t buy digital. The game literally won’t let me fight and will only let me use push or activate canisters
Welp I'm enjoying it a lot. Maybe I'm just easy to please when it comes to games, lol. The combat is really fun, and you feel like a bad ass. Story is kinda meh so far.
Sounds like this one is a skip but there's potential down the line since it's the 1st game of the studio... if it's not closed down for "not meeting sales expectations", that is
If this game had launched a decade ago, it would have gotten the same lukewarm reception and a 5-6/10 score, but without an army of weirdos attacking it and harassing anyone involved with the game. A decade ago, the studio could have had a second chance to make something new and address the main flaws of their first project and potentially release something decent, and dozens of people would still keep their jobs. But nowadays this studio is most likely going to be shut down and never get to make another game. It's actually kind of sad that a majority of "gamers" would rather cheer for games to fail rather than give out healthy criticism, giving the devs a chance to learn and get another shot to make a better game. The future of this industry is so bleak and these toxic weirdos are responsible for that.
It's not even the gamer's fault and you know it. It's the corpos thinking this should make close to a billion and they know it's bad. So they throw the baby out with the bath water no matter what and refuse to realize it's THEIR fault. We don't HAVE to buy anything and they need to learn to have a heathier development process where people are forced to deal with a game ending up bad because nobody can point out when something is broken, makes no sense, etc.
@Deedee48-jg9om it's about 50/50 on steam after a review-trolling-event. So, at worst, it should be okay. Looks like it has a nice art style from the gameplay thus far.

Man I'm glad you did this so I didn't have to! The lore seems interesting but it doesn't look particularly unique or well put together enough from the gameplay standpoint that I'd want to put money on it. Now I know it's something I can wait until I find it dirt cheap.
I got an ad for this on social media a couple weeks ago and it didn't even have a wikipedia page and I could barely find any traditional coverage for it. Weird because it looks like a game with some money behind it.
Holy moly you played 100% this game??
Mort is so real for putting up with this game just to deliver us a legit review lmao
The cursor on the screen would drove me crazy
I can't believe you actually managed to 100% this game. That's truly loving your work. 😂
Great review as always, i dont always comment, but i really appreciate your work!
There's no such thing as an objective review
@@bxile730 Don't think this game had any sort of hype train, I was just speaking in general about some creators hyping things up or hating on things to an unnecessary degree just to get more clicks.
@@bxile730 - Pretty bad game? YOU DIDN'T PLAY IT DUDE. You have no right to have an opinion about it.
critiquing obvious faults is important or similar issues for a game title/genre to improve.
Do better.
Also a big tell when you take projection into account. No moral backbone / forming of one's own opinion. Only following the latest grift.
I'm nearing the end of this game. Playing on PS5. I actually like it and I don't think that it's overpriced.
But also, technically, it could be more polished and I expected a bit more of the story. Characters could be better. Gameplay is the star here.
Would give it a 7/10 so far.
Damn never heard of this game and sounds like it’s not worth looking into lol.
Thanks for the video. Your reviews seem to be getting more downvotes than usual. After effect of Dragon Age? Hate clicks FTW! Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.
Unknown RUclips Jazz 🎶
It's a ten bucker.
Game looks ok, but $50? Dang, I’ll wait for a sale!
Not worth 50$ tho, make it 20 or 30
All i want in a 3rd person game is lots of Drip
kind of amazing how big games are blowing it now days. award shows need to add a new award called the biggest bomb. Like i think it peaked withb 30 players lol
I doubt id pay for this, but if it ever comes to gamepass I'll 100% play it.
So in summary it's like Bound by Flame for example, with interesting lore and universe, very short story and a bit janky.
Will buy it on sale, thanks!
Been looking for something completely new.
hmmm... will i be able to understand this if i didn't play Unknown 1 thru Unknown 8?
No
Dude seeing that cursor throw me off. Can’t ignore it lol
I watched a bit of the gameplay and saw the jank. Maybe if it gets fixed, I'll consider it.
There is a Buddist saying: Who else will enter the hell if I don't?
100%ing this truly speaks to your dedication! Also love how you assign a "worth it" price
I like the way this looks but yeah thats a bummer about the overall size, and that the story tends to be told rather than shown. I've never understood that decision with this medium. It's a choice for sure, but why not utilize more visuals. Then there's the price... yikes
As always, appreciate the time and effort!
Wow, much more positive vibe from the preview video and the veilguard review (in the comments section)
Just watching the game footage while you were talking was enough to make me happy I skipped it.
Mort Overdose kicking in 🤩
Comment for Al Gore Rhythm.
Does this Mortismal guy ever sleep?Amazing ...
Mortym is the best. unbiased reviews from someone who specializes in the RPG genre, Strictly about the gaming. You can tell who’s really playing games and who is just online whining and crying 💯
Damn son you actually 100% this hahaha
I certainly look forward to playing this eventually as I do want to know more about this universe
I literally just started the download for this. I hope the review is good 😅
My main issue with this game besides those issues you brought up in your video was balance during the boss fights.
Just not for me.
its 24.99 now
Man, this comment section is infested with clowns who are mad that your review of DA: Veilguard didn't conform to their pre-conceived hatred of the game. And this isn't even the Veilguard video lmfao. Talk about sad and pitiful.
Eh just gotta thank them for the views and keep on making my videos, all they are doing is increasing engagement and making my content reach farther
@@MortismalGaming yup!
That's one thing I like about the algorithm: best way to not support a creator is to not engage, but that's basically a Sisyphean task for these people.
@@MortismalGamingmmhmm😌
This looked fun, but man for 50 bucks that is way too much if it is so short.
as someone who couldn't give a flying flip over 'value', thank you for applying the same review criteria to ALL your games. all that matters is how the game plays - 99% of games can be test run before purchase now, if you waste money without trying it out first, that's entirely on you.
100% of games can be test run after purchase as well thanks to the fact that you can always refund before you get to 2 hours of playtime.
And 2 hours is usually more than enough to judge whether a game is trash or not.
@@user-lz5vh9bb5w well, not on every platform/launcher as far as i know.
Damn, my man walking through the fires of RUclips Hell w these past couple of reviews. Good on you man, nothing but respect. 🤘
Gronk!
I only liked to get you some ad revenue for spending money on this thing.
Never going to play this game. Never going to 100% any game. Loved your review.
One of the most infuriating protagonist ever.
Sounds like this one is a skip but there's potential down the line since it's the 1st game of the studio... if it's not closed down for "not meeting sales expectations", that is
Hard to say really, sometimes games meant to expand a universe like this arent actually made with the intent to specifically be profitable
There is no smoke without fire.
Ill definitely pick it up on sale. The graphics look pretty 6 the gameplay looks okay.
Im sure it wont be my favorite, but itll be a nice changeup
@Deedee48-jg9om it's about 50/50 on steam after a review-trolling-event.
So, at worst, it should be okay. Looks like it has a nice art style from the gameplay thus far.
This game bombed there won't be a part 2.
@ehenningsen
@@CAPCOM784 Not my problem. I'm here for part 1
free comment!!!
Any game with grass that always makes you invisible to enemies is an instant no-buy for me.
These kind of stealth mechanics are really stupid.
I think it looks pretty sweet - can't recall a single other game with a similar graphic design.
So game should be renamed to Unknown Short Jank 9 - Awakening, and can be had for $50. No thanks. Great review as always.
The bullet out of the gun doesn't line up when exiting from the barrel..
still getting downvoted for veilguard video eh? god i hate gamers sometimes
His video was posted a lot on places like 4chan. It's pretty much the scum of the earth.
Makes the videos reach farther, and ironically is what actually makes me more money
@@MortismalGamingmake that money sir.
Valuable review, Mort!
I've changed my mind and will keep this on my Wishlist. Based on a few things you mention, I'm looking for a sensible (to me, and no, it's not $0) value proposition. Repeated mention of technical state is a key concern.
There are some other games of the past few years this reminds me of and I did enjoy those.
