I recently replayed it and I ignored the Minute Men entirely lol so that annoying bullshit never even starts up. If you don’t join them it isn’t a problem

    • @j.m.2022

I recently discovered a mod that only allows Preston to give out one Minuteman quest at a time and makes it such that, for the most part, you have to actually ask him to receive another quest. It also makes it such that you have to actually tune your radio to Radio Freedom for it to give you a quest. It's really made a difference for me since it allows me to control the pacing much more effectively. I no longer feel like I have to avoid Preston and my game experience is immeasurably improved by just this little adjustment. Bethesda really messed things up by programming Preston to throw out those quests every time the player was anywhere near to him.
It would still be even nicer if one could reject a settlement acquisition quest outright so that I could group my settlements in particular areas of the map (so that I don't have to run very far to defend against settlement attacks) - but maybe there is another mod for that and I just haven't found it yet in the Xbox list.

32:50 65535 is the maximum level because that is the max value a 16-bit integer can hold, which is what they must be using as the variable type for levels in the game. (which you did a great job of illustrating that the data overflows, which leads to the crash)

Play it with grindterra mods, royal galaxy and no more duplicates, in extreme you will care it makes it pretty close to older proper dungeon hunting role play. These are tiny downloads that transform the game in a major way...animation is still bad so you have to deal with that.

The biggest sin of the Minutemen which makes them unacceptable as a faction is that they are boring af. I'm not even talking about them being moral paragons. They just have boring quests, boring characters except that one older lady, and are ultimately overshadowed by the Institute, BoS and Railroad which have their own problems but at least they have some flavor.

One of my favorite main stories in gaming is a full conversion mod for Skyrim. Enderal features a fantastic story and some side quests that I will never forget. It's still insane that it's free, and while I'll never be entirely comfortable with paying for every mod for a game, I would understand paying for full conversion mods. Enderal took me 90 hours to finish, which is double the game length of most games. Enderal features some excellent VA (and some bad VA) and has some cutscenes that are better than anything in Skyrim

Oh, man, hearing you talk about this game's story has given me flashbacks on how much I hated it when I first played it. And it's not that it's all terrible, it's that is frustrating how better it could have been and the amount of stuff that goes nowhere and/or is forced upon you without having no control to the end result, beggining with the character choice. It doesn't matter if you choose to play as the war veteran Nate or the seasoned lawyer Norah, both play the exact same way. That's a huge missed opportunity. If you're forcing me to have a backstory, make that backstory count. Have Norah be better at talking and worse at fighting and viceversa. Make Nate's combat skill count for stuff and Norah's intelligence play out in some situations. Give me a reason to choose who I play as beyond cosmetic options.
But no. Of course not. Because this game is too afraid of not pleasing every player.

It seems that every faction is the worst, except for all the other ones. Reminds me of Tyranny but in that game you can just say "scr** all of you" and complete the game on your own. But that was a cRPG, not an openworld sandbox FPS survival crafting basebuilding RPG

I have an unfortunate issue, that forces me to disable Survival mode when I get to level 50+, where the higher level I get the more likely it is for my game to freeze. The issue is limited specifically to Survival mode, and it really starts to get exponentially bad the higher level I get. To the point where VATS and transition loading screens are a gamble.

When it comes to the Evolution of V.A.T.S. : in F76 it became pretty much an aimbot.
I don't know if they changed it by now, but last time i played (roughly half a year ago) it still was this way:
When you activate the System it autosnaps to the target nearest to your crosshair and with the right perks let's you autosnap to specific bodyparts (like the head or Fusion core) without hindering your movement.
Only Downside is that the Hitchance is Statbased (but you can push those so high it doesn't rly matter) and that each shot costs AP which, with the right Gear and Perksetup becomes a nonissue too.
Once you set your perks up and got the right gear, you can just hold activate vats, hold down the mousebutton and watch your crosshair snap around until everything is dead or you ran out of ammo.

Survival mode was fantastic, that's the first and only way I have played Fallout 4. Power armor was so so vital, especially in the early/mid game, and managing power cores became a necessity. No fast travel was obviously tough early, but when I joined up with the Brotherhood of Steel and they offered me the Vertibird Flares, which work like a real-time/in-game fast travel, that was so impactful. I absolutely recommend that everyone plays Fallout 4 on Survival - I'm positive that I would not have have enjoyed it as much if I didn't do that.

The most ridiculous plot hole in the whole game is that Kellog has some "immortality tech" that keeps him the same age forever. If they have that ability, why doesn't Father also use it? It's mind boggling that they didn't make the Kellog you encounter during the main quest into a synth. They can clearly copy the memories of real people into synths yet they just made him immortal in some vague way. I'm still mad it about it a decade later.

I think the biggest problem with Fallout 4, obviously the story, is it felt like they wrote the entire story for Fallout 4 before developing the game. Then tried to develop the game around that story, and give the player illusion of choice. However, the illusion of choice is blatantly obvious after playing and you didn't have a choice. While with a game like Fallout: New Vegas, it felt like they started with the factions, wrote the entire story with each faction, and then mixed things here or there. So while there is still some illusion of choice it's less obvious.

Many hours in all the BGS Fallouts and what I loved about FO4 was the map. The only real wide open downtown, many unmarked locations, and just a cool sand box. I loved the feel of the FO3 map though. Also, there are so many wicked battles with buildings and areas loaded with stacks of hard enemies. I enjoyed several complete survival runs as well and did it without power armor. All the walking got old though even with vertibirds.

Aside from the issues that had been identified, my main qualm is how inconsistent some of the plot/storylines/quests are just because of either laziness or because of poor writing. I personally want to go with poor writing.
I love the quest to turn Curie into a "human" synth, from a Mister Handy robot.
But for some stupid reason, you can't do it for other robots, even worst, not even for robobrain bots.
I'm sure there are some lame excuse for this, from either the writers or some lame reasons from the hardcore fans, but I really wished that I could have my Codsworth or Ada as a "human" synth.
At least make it a simple optional questline, otherwise, it just feels so inconsistent.
Even if it's a matter of not important enough to make it at launch, just do it over patches.
I just want Codsworth to be the Alfred to my Batman.

Fallout 4 is just a 3 way war between the BoS, Institute, and RR. The Minutemen don't give a shit and are just trying to protect the average joes. I can appreciate their mission, but unless you put in the work to gather supplies (guns, armor, building materials, etc) or use mods the MM cannot be a truly effective defense force.
Sure a random settler may pick up a "better gun" from a raider or whoever attacks the settlement, but the actual MM troops will assault the Institute with pipe guns and laser muskets at player level 100+. There is a CC pack called Gunners vs Minutemen that really does remedy this problem, but only for that particular group of friendly NPCs.
The fighting is scaled to your level so when you show up you could get your bog standard Minutemen troops with pipe guns and little to no armor, or you can rock up to troops wearing sturdy/heavy armor with proper laser guns and even the occasional suit of PA. Makes Quincy even better for farming runs bc you can get combat armor and multiple suits of PA each time the place resets

It's annoying that Bethesda could have fundamentally changed the entire story for the better with just one caveat. Make the player a synth. The twist being that Sean created a synth in the exact image of his father, implanted it with memories ect. and sent it out there to see if it would seek it's "child" on it's own accord and how. This would turn the story into a Blade Runner esque "what really makes us human" and would even explain some of the downright silly encounters like the infamous child in the fridge. All those things are planted by the institute to see how this advanced synth would react and if it would deviate from it's goal. Wouldn't have turned the game into a milestone in writing but would've made it way more engaging imo

Fallout 4 was always a sore spot for me. When it came out I was in that stage where you go from "I love videogames because videogames" to "I love videogames as an actual art and therefore feel a need to look at them critically". I was in a constant tug of war with myself trying to love it but just aware enough to recognize alot of it's huge flaws. It was like the crushing feeling as an adult realizing your favorite 99 percent sugar breakfast cereal is actually pretty crappy and bad for you.

  • @joigiss653
    @joigiss653 Час назад

I got so many "lost" hours in this game I gess only New Vegas has more playtime. Where you talk about numbers of synths infiltrating as a fixed number I think is not entirely correct, I did an experimennt in one of my playthrough a clear Dimond city at level 12-15 and found about 4 synth componets. Reloded and repeted it at level 50-55 and then found over 10 synths componets so I concluded that the longer you leave the Institute alone the more they infiltrate commonwealth. That said it might also just be random when you drop an none quest npc if he is synth or not.

Good on you but no way this is even enjoyable without mods, there are no playable animations for melee/unarmed there is so much missing in the perk system in order to play this for fun mods are a hard requirement.

Fo4 does need to get shoutouts for being great, in relation to some other similar games. The skill system.. and Encased/underrail/age of decedance, etc. Fo4 is doing it right. you can't quite brick your character at creation. yes, it heavily influences, but its not totally bricked. like you can do in Encased, age of dec, blackgeyser, and other game with similar systems. underrail does also let you "adjust" to a limited degree. Good. Encased does NOT give you more attributes, neither does blackgeyser. Bad. realizing my character was 1 int away from the "good ending" on my encased char, was not a nice feeling. I bricked them in character creation.
Survival base/settlement builder. Conan, enshrouded, soulmask, kenshi, aska, valhiem.. to this DAY, fo4 still has one of the most robust and fleshed out settlement building of any game. even those specifically designed for it. seriously. conan and enshrouded just added "living" npcs. and fo4 is still better at it.

Imho the building and progression system is a lot better in Fallout 4 than in Fallout 3 and New vegas and thank god they got rid of all the useless skills.
Is right to say that the main quest and the factions of the base game are really bad (but Brotherood of steel are really cool), but i also think that the main quest is bad in almost every Bethesda games (maybe only in Morrowind is a little better).
Not the best RPG that i have played, but there are a lot of RPG that are much worse tha Fallout 4.

If I were to review this game, the score would be something like 5-6/10. Simply meh. Not bad, but also not good. I prefer actual rpg elements and good storytelling to the sandbox. But to be honest I still had better time with it than with Starfield.

I wish Bethesda would quit being so damn lazy and fix the next gen version. I was having a blast putting dozens of hours into it again and I go to robco and it is completely bugged, couldn't leave, walls were see through, literally unplayable.
Still think Fallout 4 is a king of an escapist rpg

Prepare to catch an insane amount of flak for your takes...what makes it worse is that you made this video when people are usually off work, but engagement creates ad credits so...I guess it's great? Reminds me of how the news works, intentional baiting or going after divisive topics with just the goal to gain money...not that this is what your intent is/was...just that it's crazy how similar the process is for a lot of even small creators.

F3/FNV/F4 all have inherently flawed cultish or even batshit crazy factions
its very clear that they spent a lot of time and energy to make you actually not fully like any of them
sort of like the Traits that give you a buff on one hand and a debuff on the other.
I think it is deliberately confusing and off putting and create an odd "charm"
where you seem to be the only person who is fully sane

I like pretty much everything about FO4 save the story. I am not a parent, I have no desire to have children of my own, I, while I am capable of being compassionate towards a parent losing their child and being isekai'd 212 years into the future, I'm incapable of true empathy and understanding for such a character, and therefore unable to truly put myself in the characters shoes. So shouting about Shawn every 27.3 seconds in every other conversation really pulls me out of the world and the character.
A simple "Pragmatist"speech option everytime Shawn came up that let you focus on the whole "Isekai'd 212 years into the future" and deflect the whole "missing child" thing would have done wonders for immersion and role-play for myself and others lile me.
You're 212 years from home, in a strange world, with unknown dangers, few friends, and few resources, any sane person would worry about their own survival and establish themselves before sprinting off into a radioactive wasteland unprepared to chase after a child they don't know the location of, and that's probably not still alive seeing as *gestures broadly at irradiated hellscape*

Nee Vegas is also afraid to let you commit to a faction until a certain point, I don't know why people don't talk about this. Once you reach the Lucky 38, all factions forgive everything you ever did to them so the player can change their mind if they wanted.

I really don't understand the hate Fallout 4 gets. The overarching story imho is better than "looking for a water chip " or even NV and the revenge story of another chip being lost among cosplayers of cowboys and greco Romans. Fallout 4 main story was more personal , left you with questions of "are you actually a synth" , etc. Plus it was more dense than previous games in terms of exploration environments and the gunplay was leagues better than previous games. Im not a fan of base building in most games but I was really into this one. Found that island and built my base and tony stark iron man suits like shrine for all my power armors.
Out of the Bethesda owned Fallout games , NV had the best dlc , Fallout 3 has the nostalgia going for it and 4 was a better overall package imho .
