Max Payne is a 2008 neo-noir action thriller film based on the video game series of the same name developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Rockstar Games. It was written by Beau Thorne and directed by John Moore. The film stars Mark Wahlberg in the title role as Max Payne, Mila Kunis as Mona Sax, Ludacris as Jim Bravura, and Beau Bridges as BB Hensley.

I think it’s the Telltale one. Walk somewhere, talk to someone and Quick time events. Shame that the gunplay is only a quick time event and you miss most of the time.
Kunis actually does speak Russian, if I remember correctly.

I still think their Sleepwalkers First Viewing was beyond gut-busting. It never ceases to cheer me up, watching these two have so much fun.

Punisher: War Zone, Rambo, and Wanted had way more action than this. Coincidentally, they were also released in 2008.

I thought this movie was New York Minute, because that's exactly the amount of time I spent watching it before I turned it off.

You can also look up a video about her talking about her parents. I believe she's Romanian, but her mother was Ukrainian.
She was born in the Soviet Union, in present day Ukraine.
The city she's from is currently in Ukraine, but at the beginning of the 20th century it was in a no-longer-existent country called Bukovina, half of which became part of Romania and half of which became part of Ukraine (which was part of the Soviet Union). My ancestors are also from that city. I'm not sure how to spell it, but it's something like Cernowitz.

At least there's no loading screens
I think the loading screens had more cinematic worth than this movie.
There was no action to load.
Yet another movie where no one involved with making the movie was in any way familliar with, or played the source material. The only information that the writers were probably given was, "This was a gritty game about a detective/cop. Here's some still shots of the game. **Hands over 3 pictures** Make it happen. We're shooting in two days. Have that script ready pronto! Oh. And we have to make this PG13."
@Erik Lerström There wasn't a small number of people who played that game. It was quite a hit when it came out. But that's besides the point. They didn't make it for the "Transformers Crowd" either. There weren't enough explosions. I think that they were TRYING more for for the angsty, "Underworld" crowd actually, and failing miserably.

Well, Mila Kunis' parents are from the Ukraine, so she CAN speak Russian (actually there's a cool clip where she chews out a Russian interviewer in Russian for picking on Justin Timberlake)...............it's PLAUSIBLE she can be Bad-Ass; merely not believable on Film

11:22 Second after that there is real Max Payne voice actor from the games(and physicaly too for 3rd game) James McCaffrey. Totalling at 6 seconds worth of screentime of a throwaway cameo....when he should star Max in this instead which could help this movie suck less by quite a big margin just if he could get something to work with and played Max, but no....
@Erik Lerström Bankable actor my ass also after flops like this and The mummy its obvious that big name actor doesnt ensure jackshit. McCaffrey would make all max payne fans go to watch it and would play infinetly better tham Marky mark does in this. There are very few movies where Mark is any good

Great First Viewing, Guys! Now if you will excuse me, I have some *10 Minute Power Hour* episodes to watch.
I had never played the game so I went in blind... MAN was I disappointed. The trailer leaned REALLY heavy on the angles and demons and end of the world action. It looked like a sequel to Constantine (which I actually liked...)
MAN I was annoyed to find out it was just a hallucination and the whole movie was just... BORING....
@Erik Lerström Yeah pretty much. That's what trailers and advertising are supposed to do... get people interested in seeing their project. Frankly, I don't trust reviews as a rule. I have such an eclectic taste in movies that I usually don't base my decisions on what other people think... I didn't even know it was a video game at the time. And like I said, I liked Constantine and most of the comic fans hated that show... So 'faithful to source' doesn't mean it won't still be fun.
Either way, I actually saw this on DVD... so while it was disappointing, it wasn't a costly disappointment.
@Erik Lerström Not really. There have been a lot of big budget movies with extensive promotions and trailers that just looked dumb to me so I skip. This looked REALLY cool... but the trailer didn't accurately describe the show it was attached to. Honestly I have a bigger problem with the ratings and critics and reviewers who now seem to decide what everyone watches. If they see a good movie when they're in a bad mood... suddenly the movie bombs. That's a lot worse than seeing a movie based on a trailer.

it's not even CLOSE to the disaster they're trying to make it to be . . . they need wacky reaction shots for their wacky thumbnail to get their wacky views from wacks like me, so they of COURSE have to overreact to the whole dry, dreary piece of shit movie.

I dunno. Max Payne 3 the game did it way better. I was genuinely amused with some creative decisions there. Like, Max being an alcoholic and his slo-mo abilities being caused by abstinence. That shit was brilliant. The gamma eyerape was cool and all. If they did a movie like that, with motivation and good writing, it would be awesome

@@legoking6165 Yes. I think I've seen a video of Mila Kunis on a panel speaking russian, defending Justin Timberlake in front of a rude Russian reporter. She seemed fairly fluent although I don't speak Russian so I don't know how good it actually was.

Safe to say that Warren Ellis is one of the few people who knows how to make a video game story work in a different format. I don't know if Castlevania was true to the game or not, but I do know that I enjoyed watching it and found myself invested in the characters.
