  • Crochet It Creations is hosting the Textured Fun Blanket Crochet Along (CAL) and you are invited to join in! Each week for 6 weeks I will release a new textured fun square to make!
    Get the written instructions HERE - crochetitcreat...
    This is Square 3 of the CAL - the Braided Cable Stitches. Stitches used are double crochet, front post double crochet, back post double crochet, and front post treble crochet. Techniques used is a foundation double crochet rows and chainless starting double crochet. The Braided Cable is a more advanced technique.
    The Square will measure 7". You can make any size blanket from Baby to King. See the post HERE for all the CAL pattern details - crochetitcreat...
    Materials needed are an J 6mm Crochet Hook for this square, an I 5.5mm hook will be needed for other squares. Medium weight yarn will be used. I used Big Twist Yarn (6oz/170g, 371yds/339m) found at Joann's in the colors Medium Teal, Medium Grey, Soft Grey, and White. 2 skeins of each color to complete the throw blanket, if using 4 colors and Big Twist Yarn. Plus 1 additional skein to sew squares together and complete the border. Or about 3300 yards for the throw blanket, which measures approximately 50" x 60".

    So after doing this block (finally) successfully, I found the following to be very helpful, because I kept getting lost. Its helpful to understand what makes up the design, so you can see why things don't look right when you don't follow the pattern. Row 1 base, Row 2 single cross over (picked up in back) Row 3, backstitch, Row 4, Double cross over (picked up in front), Row 5, backstitch, Row 6, single cross over (Picked up in back) Row 7, backstitch, Row 8, Double cross over (Picked up in front), Row 9, backstitch, Row 10, single cross over (picked up in back) Row 11, backstitch, Row 12, double cross over (picked up in front, Row 13, back stitch - I crossed off each row as I completed it so I could keep track. Mind you, I ripped this out multiple times until I "got it". Its work pursuing. Keep at it and you will get it. She says in the video 13 rows. The written direction say 15. Its too short with 13, so I did 15.

    I’m glad to see that I’m not the only person having trouble with this stitch. I’m not a beginner, and this is the hardest stitch I’ve ever learned. I’m determined to get it right, but I don’t really know what I’m doing wrong.

    The written pattern says "Repeat 2-5" for rows 6-15, but in your video, you only said up to 13 rows, then do the border. I love this pattern. It was a little tricky at the beginning, but I got the hang of it after I finished the first square.

    The written instructions say 15 rows, not 13, as stated in the video. I am now confused on where I should be ending. Can you confirm the number of rows, please?

    I'll have to practice this a few times to get it down. I want to take this pattern and apply it to a few projects I have in mind

    It would be helpful to slow down and give specific details as you work the stitches instead of saying “these stitches”. DBP around these stitches. Which ones? I can’t see the stitches you are talking about. Just a suggestion.

    • @RobinDowns-uy8od
      @RobinDowns-uy8od Месяц назад

      Yes, I agree! “these stitches” is not clear and the camera work doesn’t show clearly either.

    Your squares look very pretty. I tried to follow along with you but you go too fast for me. I got confused when you mentioned about front post, wasn't too sure what you meant. I was looking for something easy to do. I tried but couldn't do it.

    This is way too fast, the written pattern doesn't make any sense for this square as it says "fptc around 3 stitches" not "next" 3 stitches, came here for clarification, got even more confused.

      I think the video is great for this reason. Most experienced crocheters will figure this out based on the picture as well.

    Your written pattern says to repeat until row 15. This didn't make sense to me, so I came here and in the video you say stop at row 13, which clears up my confusion. Might want to correct it it the written pattern. ☺️

      So which is right? Mine seemed to small to stop at 13 so I did 14 and 15.

    What ate the multiples for this pattern? How many do we chain for a 6" square?

  • @annabuchanan2565
    @annabuchanan2565 2 года назад

    Jessica, the first two squares have 14 rows. This one you say in the video to do 13 rows. I can’t find the written pattern but from other comments it says to do 15 rows. Both of these will make the squares a different size will it not? Plus the border will be to the back side if done the same way. Please help with my confusion.

    I'm hoping you can tell me what I'm doing wrong. By the time I'm pulling through the last two loops of the FPTC, the first loop on my hook is stretched out twice as big as it should be, if not more

    Um must be a communication error because I'm still not getting it. I tried early on but after completing the rest of the 5 square patterns and coming back it's still not clear. It's a combination of unclear instructions and the camera not being able to see what you're doing.gotta put this down and try again when I'm no longer frustrated.

    Way too fast and no explanation as you were back posting in the 12. You didn't even specifically guide us into what stitches we were to back post around. Just not a great tutorial at all.

      It is a good tutorial, rewatch and pause simultaneously can get it. You can slow videos down on RUclips or read written instructions, they're very clear.

    Sooo, I have like zero experience but always like to aim hard challenge stuff , that’s just me. I actually purchased pattern and people say they have no problem following you.
    Buttt is there another slower step for braided cable? I’m struggling so bad on 3-4th row. 🫠It don’t look right and I tried 5 different ways and still don’t look the way yours do. And your screen for me to watch kind of blurry a little bit when you speed up. But like I said zero experience. If someone has slower step on how to do it for maybe up to 6 rows I be super happy!!!
    I do have post square stitches done and quite proud of myself. After I got the hang of it it was easy peasy. That’s all I got so far, just started yesterday. 😀
