    Jeez I’d kill to have grandma Romano take care of my house and family.

      You know they ALWAYS included the family eating real meals and snacks in that show and it was amazing that it was normal back in the 70s but watching now, seems shocking (in a good way) because it’s so unheard of now. Makes the show and characters so relatable and real!

      Wow!! That's amazing!! I loved watching it. Barbara & Mark were so adorable together, & I felt so bad for Max & Little Annie when Julie decided to leave them. Max was devastated. He had the support of Ann, Barbara, Mark, Grandma, & who can forget Schneider!. He decided to stay, because he thinks they couldn't survive!. I thought that was to cute! ♥️

    ...looking at this Episode, NOW (..with Adult 'eyes'), it's showing us Barbara, as a WOMAN, at a breaking point, dealing with a different set of 'family dynamics': ...with Julie...ahem...'gone', she's dealing with being a Wife, A Lover, Sister-In-Law, Daughter, Grand-Daughter, Working Woman, Friend, co-Worker, Home Owner.... (cont.)
    ...If anything, she's having it worse off than Ann did, as a Single, divorced Mother; To see a young Girl blossom into Womanhood, and have ALL of that thrust on her in her early Twenties (..in the early 80's, no less) is no small feat....Ann should've help stem the tide with advice, comfort, and guidance, but I understand that It's being done to show Barbara can put her foot down, and HANDLE this situation....
    ..but...One DOES 'feel' for her, because, many others COULDN'T 'handle' this type of life change.....JULIE couldn't .......

      The actress playing the grandmother was Nanette Fabray.

    • @jameshamilton8245
      @jameshamilton8245 Год назад +3

      Nanette Fabray. She had an MGM contract in the late 50's and early 60's. . One of her more visible outings was the second female lead in The Bandwagon. Incidentally, she was the aunt to both Annette Funicello( famous as one of the original Mouseketeers and later all those Beach Movies opposite Frankie Avalon) and Shelley Fabares. (Who got her start as Mary on the Donna Reed Show) Nanette did not take credit for influencing her neices into careers in entertainment except that maybe her example allowed the girl's parents to see that a young woman could remain ladylike and still have success in the business.

      I don’t get the Valerie B hate. It’s not Shakespeare but as sitcom acting goes she was always serviceable and charismatic enough. I feel like there’s something going on with these comments and it’s not actually about her.

      @@PikesvilleAl You really can’t be serious. Nothing against Harrington as a person but he was basically the same simple borderline caricature in every episode of every season, rarely doing anything that rose above one-dimensional. That wasn’t his fault. It was the way the character was written. But I don’t see how he could be fairly credited with holding her or any other actor’s hand on the series.
