- The NBC All-Star Hour of 1983, edited to the Cheers-related segments. This bit of promotional fluff includes the casts of Cheers, Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, Knight Rider The Facts of Life, and We've Got It Maid, as well as Nell Carter, Johnny Carson and Bob Hope, among others.

Cheers was the best series ever from day one. No one has done better, before or since.
Nell Carter was the Queen of NBC, they loved her. She was the FEATURED performer on ALL of these 80's specials. What an awesome phenomenal talent.
This was a lot of fun to see. The Cheers cast played their parts like pros despite the silly plot. Diane and Karnak doing a scene together is kind of epic.
Damn I miss these days
Diane fawning over Pierce Brosnan makes me wish we'd have seen Shelley as a Bond Girl.
Loved Remington Steele. I was an old movie buff so loved all of his movie references. Liked the pairing of Pierce Brosnan and Stephanie Zimbalist and Doris Roberts as the secretary.
Carla with the Facts of Life girls 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This must be what it looks like if Cheers was recorded on videotape instead of filmstock before a live studio audience.
And the Emily Dickinson idea is now a series on Apple TV.
Great stuff here!
The irony of this is that in the end, no one was there. The 1983-84 season is still considered one of NBC’s worst. The network wouldn’t experience a turnaround until the 1984-85 season. Thanks to the success of shows like The Cosby Show and Miami Vice, the network went from number 3 to 2 in one year.
Almost all of 1978-84 was one big goose egg for NBC, with 1983-84 being the holy fail. Everything they rolled out that year except midseason Night Court was a turd sandwich.
You gotta hand it to the cast members for keeping a straight face introducing the new stuff like Mr. Smith. They must have had some really good cocaine that night.
@@75aces97 Well Nell Carter infamously snorted so much of the stuff which explains all the energy she had for a big lady!
And in 1985, with the arrival of other hits, like "The Golden Girls", that skyrocketed NBC to the top.
@@jayanxiety Coke will give you energy but it doesn't give you talent.
I like this
They should have done this later. Possibly in Season 4 when Cheers was more popular
Foreshadowing, perhaps--Diane and Hollywood?
What the hell is this? I do not have any memory of this at all.
This was a year before Frasier joined the Cheers cast and started pawning over Diane.
And before Coach dies and Woodie takes over for him.
And before Diane left Cheers and got replaced by Rebecca
Watching ST. ELSEWHERE in the bar, yet the bar is actually part of the ST. ELSEWHERE canon...which of course was all in Tommy's mind anyway. Discuss....
this special promo shouldve caused the universe to implode
The Cheers cast must think back on this and cringe but they were just about to go up in the ratings when this aired. Ironically, Cheers was the only good show among all they were plugging in that special. Coach's comment about a laugh track had to be a dig at Cheers fans who thought the Cheers laugh track was too loud when there was no laugh track. That's why Cheers ran a disclaimer at the start of every episode after the first year.
From 1983.
Do you have the 1985 NBC all star hour? They had all my favorite shows on that year.
Here from reddit!
Do you have all of this show?
Also Is this the full show or just the cheers part?

So any wonder why "Mr. Smith" didn't succeed as a series?
Hasselhoff calling out ABC and CBS in his intro, but, the irony being that the 1983-1984 season was one of the worst performing years in the NBC’s history. Every single series that debut that fall was cancelled by the end of the year.
Everything from "Mr. Smith" to "Hot Potato".
John Wayne would've told me the truth up front. Punk
Still looking for the full show for 1983, 1984 and 1985. Maybe we can make some trades. If so anyone?
'84 and '85 are complete in RUclips. However, '83 (this video) is the only thing they have. I wish they have the complete show. I've enjoyed watching it!!!
"That Darn Emily"
What's the worst idea since "My Mom The Lawn Jockey"
Hard to say. I'm pretty sure NBC's strategy that year was to take every bad idea they could find and shove it into one fall lineup. Diane couldn't possibly have come up with anything worse than Jennifer Slept Here, Mr Smith, Manimal, Double Trouble, or We Got It Maid.
There's no denying this is lame but considering the assignment, the writers and actors did a pretty decent job of pulling it off.
Bad audio
The horrible audio makes this unwatchable.
That is silly
9:24 Don’t worry Nell, America didn’t buy it either.
lame, lame, lame, lamest of the lame...
I take it you weren't around in the 80s?
