Another great upload. By way of suggestion, I think you may well be looking at a Combat 95 smock. The 85 series was God awful as I recall and were nowhere as practical as that smock you have presented/described. As always, a great channel and thanks for sharing ATB

The newer SAS/Royal Marines smock (after pattern 95) is a superb piece of design! since I got my first one (Gen III DPM/MTP) from the Chilean Navy (the Royal Navy`s "sister navy") I have never used anything else. First I wore it with a polyester fleece underneath, but now I changed to a pure wool high collar sweater (a big quality difference, especially here in Patagonia). If it is very cold, I use a light down jacket over it and the smock on top (which is always waxed). For trekking through the woods or sitting by the fire (resistance against punctures and sparks), this cotton garment is a much better option than synthetics! The only thing I would change in the original design is the mesh lining, since it sticks to the velcro, and sharp things like pencils protrude through it.

Without going up stairs and digging for a tape measure, what I can say is that it isn't an exact science so I wouldn't want to I'll advise, I was very lucky to have a surplus store nearby and try one on. If using mail order no harm in one size up the extra chest room would be helpful, a return policy is usually possible.

As has been said, it’s actually the second iteration of the Soldier 95 smock. The one before was made of a different, rip stop material, with a hood that buttoned on. There was one more ‘version’ after that that did away with the small pocket on the arm, which was replaced by a Velcro patch on each arm for flashes. The first mtp smock was also this design.

85 has two pockets one on each arm one is a first aid pocket. The other is a pen ruler pocket . Which you don’t have on the 95, you have here. 85 had a small zipper, Bulbous pockets and small green buttons. No hood.
