    I really learned something. I thought urbanite was what Han Solo was frozen in during Empire Strikes back. Love the ideas. Love the glasses. Love the braided pony tail. Love that you are on TV...

    You are adorable. I did this at my old place and made like a French courtyard. We had a fire pit in the middle so we began by placing the stones in a circle around that and spreading out. We filled the cracks with dry mortar, then sprayed it down. It just looked so cool, and we would get many compliments on it. Going to be doing it again at my new place only on a much larger scale.... And like you say, it is a ton of work especially in the heat but the results are so worth it and the price is right. 👍

    Great for retaining walls , often delivered free. I get mine from a local driveway contractor who is happy for the free dumping. These can be be built much higher than 2 or 3 ft with a leaning back batter . It also needs good support behind . That is a depth of some hard fill, rubble etc ( not dirt, which can wash out ) packed in behind. When building a dry wall ( no mortar ) I like to have a range of thin bits to poke in here and there to stop rocking. It can be quite a challenge, obtaining enough of this material. Save thinner pieces, broken tiles are also an option. Building the wall is easier if you strive to keep each layer level and raking back at 90 degrees or so to the batter. Sometimes you need to chip bits off to make better fits.
    This work is physically demanding so get some bars ( I use old metal water pipe with a squashed end because its light ) and develop easy ways of moving big bits of this heavy material around without lifting. I have been building these walls for years on my property, one over 4 metres ( two on the go at the moment ) I hope this info from my experiences helps someone.

      Indeed! How about a 26 ft long gabion wall with really really old concrete? When you say "labor intensive" you ain't said nothing! Between finding the rubble, moving the rubble, stacking the rubble....took me 3 years, but it's the only one I know of, and it does look super cool. Now using cut slabs from a highway demo to build a real retaining wall. Each cut slab is 8 in thick, about 4 ft long and maybe sometimes somewhere around 12-16 inches wide. Looks really groovy!!!

      @@shannonmikus550 Good for you. Good to find ways to keep the weight off the body , those slabs sound heavy.

    They all look great. I was pleasantly surprised by the first arrangement ( Topo art...).
    The end result all ways turn out great. The cement filled retaining wall looks like stacked, I'm used to seeing running bond. I Know, ...it's art, ...looks very nice. Some very great ideas.
    Great job Sara.

      @@sarabendrick7252 don't know too much about making the videos, I'm just am avid fan of construction and Landscaping. I've seen videos ranging from few minutes to a few hours. So I think it's how much you want to edit. I usually watch 15 - 45 minutes... your videos are very artistic. Thank you.

      I picked up some on craigslist for free, you can always hit up a landscape contractor. They'd be happy to take it off your hands.

    One wants a drainage plane behind the wall to carry off the water to minimize chances of failure. Improperly drained walls fail and there are plenty of examples here on YT with details on correcting the errors.
    Water pressure behind wall, bad. Escape route, good.

    • @SaraBendrick-Torres
      @SaraBendrick-Torres  10 месяцев назад

      Yes I completely agree! For this small wall we have voids in the concrete for water to move through!
