Life is short, go for it.
Just pulled the trigger on a 2023 black on black street glide special. Questioned the decision right up to the moment I signed the papers. I am 74, and just healing from a bad accident on my bagger fatboy. Well, can't wait any longer. No time. So it's hard until you sign off and then it feels right. Go with your gut. Make yourself happy!

Don't forget you have shorter shocks on the Special. Add $1000 more! The ride is very stiff as is. Awesome bike though. I had my 2010 for 10yrs. Moved to a 2020 Road King Standard now. Enjoy what you get!
the standard has higher shocks? Didn't know that.
I have a special. If you're financing, look at how much different the payments are. I don't think it was that much. I'm so glad I got the XS.

@destinationh-d1 Yes. Got a longer deal due to the fact that the bike was brand new..
Harley-davidson treated me well. For the most part and were willing to work with me.
I have a low rider s with 117 and it’s the best engine I’ve ever owned. I’m going for a street glide ST too for a couple of reasons, first it looks gorgeous and it has extra ground clearance, blacked out and of course the 117. It’s relatively a good deal compared to CVOs or collections bikes. My advice is do not get anything less than 117.

Other than cosmetic, what do you notice the most on the special?
Well it’s faster. I seem to sit up on the bike and lower to the ground. I had a passenger today and she normally rides on the back of a sgst and that bike places her higher from the ground. Overall the special looks better and has enough power right out of the showroom

Get a 23 street glide I didn’t like all the wind noise on the 24 I just bought one 2 weeks ago love it

I love my Heritage 114 but I think you should ride the SG and see how you like it both on highway and especially slow speed manoeuvres. If you’re comfortable in tight spaces then go for it! Don’t settle for less to save money. Ride the Heritage it practically rides itself and really corners!! Feels as light as a Sportster! But get what you really want so you don’t regret it later!

It was my second choice as the setup I had on a cross country run was windshield and soft bags. It was tempting but at 74 I have limited time to in this world but to get what I really wanted. So SG special it is. Love the heritage though
I'm in the same boat as u. But isn't the batwing fairing hard to look over as you're cruising? I have a 98 sporty and a 03 Fatboy, gearing towards a street glide .
You should be able to see over the fairing just like using a windshield on another bike.

The differences in the standard and the Special are definitely more than “aesthetics”. The SGS has a 114 where the standard has a 107. Shocks are different on the special as well.

Test drive a street glide and a roadglide
I don't like how far the fender on the road glide is from where you sit. That's the only thing.
You can do way better than a SGS
Suggestions?
@destinationh-d1 touring would be a road glide st (if you wanna spend the money) or a Challenger ir Pursuit.
Cruiser would be a Breakout, Lower Rider S or Low Rider ST. Or if you are impartial and want to go against the grain like me, an Indian Sport Chief baby!
Edit: if you buy and HD, you will spend at least $10K customizing it. That us fine if you want (I like to do it too). You won't have to do that with Indian. But nothing is sexier than a blak and chrome SGS.
I like the hard bag look, so that narrows it down a bit. But, appreciate you watching!@@joevsfood
hummmm 34 subscribers...probably just getting started making videos. you might try a few things...one, look and test ride a BMW...lighter, better options (that are standard), more power, more comfortable and easier to ride. second, we really don't care about the books you've read...so, stop showing their covers. third, we don't particularly like to see you or anyone bloviate behind a camera...add more scenic shots and ride shots on your videos. fourth, sounds like you might be buying a HD for the wrong reasons...just saying. and finally, keep up the good work and keep making videos...good luck.
