This video is another immaculate piece of art. I love this bike. The bike of my dreams. I would not buy it so much for touring, but because I cannot think of anything better for my spirit than to ride this on the open highway listening to my favorite rock albums during a morning ride to a cafe 1 hour or 2 away from where I live. This channel has the same values regarding motorcycling that I have: traditional brands, sturdy materials, beautiful designs, commitment to the lifestyle, and always stating the subjective and the objective without fear. Here is to you, Mr Darcy & The Ol' Man! Have a great weekend with motorcycling, good food and plenty of rest. Thank you for your service!

Well done, sir! Harley-Davidson does indeed make superb touring motorbikes. At this stage of my existence and having a physical handicap I can no longer handle such a large motorbike safely.
Again, well done. A beautiful motorbike.

Street Glide is my favourite Harley. It is supremely comfortable, agile at slow speeds, engine has mountains of torque, and is a joy to ride. It only has 2 negatives: Pushing it around, and the eye watering price. One of the finest examples in the world of classically styled touring motorcycles.

I'm that guy that likes the older stuff, and sometimes like to talk a little shit about their new stuff Ha Ha (got a 91' Fatboy and a 71' FX) But DAMN the Street Glide Special is SEXY! And I LOVE the idea of blasting Rock-N-Roll in your face all while riding a Harley Davidson!
Great review as always Ol' Man

Put down 300 miles today after work for my Sunday therapy. My 2023 sgs is just a Beast.. 90mph the entire way. From Sand Diego to Arizona. From the ocean through the mountains then the desert throttle rolled on. M8 114 is just killer

Very well said. I ride for 50 years all types of bikes, but I never rode a Harley. I like some of Harley models (since 2018). In a great majority of Softail models I feel cramped or I feel the air box touching my leg. But sometimes i feel tempted . I reached the conclusion that maybe the price per kg/Lbs. is not so much higher than in a "normal".bike. The question is that I dont need to buy so many Kg/Lbs to have great pleasures. Yes; its a question of sensorial pleasure; not about perfomance, dynamics, or charge/pilion capacity. In fact in GB or anywere else in Europe a 125cc is more or less enought, regarding the legal limits as you said. I love the torque and the stock exhaust sound music from both my Royal Enfield Classi 500 euro 4 and from my Moto Guzzi Breva 750. Do I need rationaly anything else?. The answer is Nooooo!.

Beautifully designed and quite pleasing to the eye. Harley Davidson has stepped up the quality of the components and the fit and finish. They make a fine machine. Great, honest review, thank you. Disagree slightly on the idea of looking elsewhere if you don’t tour. I have no interest into touring but still love the bike. It’s great for cruising and surprisingly good at back lane scratching as well, there’s something rewarding about hustling a 800 pound motorcycle round country lanes!

I couldn’t agree more with your description of what this bike is for… I road tested a Road Glide and a Sport Glide on the same day. Road glide has been the bike of my dreams (until I road tested one). The Sport glide is what I went for because everyday social riding is what I do and the road glide would certainly be overkill for Sunday riding.
If I ever go across Europe though I’d be going for the Road / Street glide over my Sport glide.
Great video, keep up the good work 👍🏻

I ride a 21 street glide special, it’s stage 2, some other mods also, and it’s the best bike I’ve owned. Whether local runs, long distance, these street glides do everything well. They look badass also. I have a Softail slim in my garage also, for local riding or other, I generally pick the street glide.

Never owned one. Ridden more than a few. Forward controls aren't my personal favorite. Always thought they were too Expensive, too Heavy and too Slow... They're not really slow any more but they still tick those first two boxes. I know lots that have owned them and switched. I know lots that do currently own Harley and wouldn't ride anything else. It's a personal choice. My choice is still to be made... Keep up the excellent content...

I have to say though, that Harley Davidson just makes the best looking touring bikes in the world! Imo of course. They are expensive and heavy, but man, there’s nothing like a Harley Davidson!

    Evening old man,
Let me start by saying that I am a Harley owner, a 2019 street bob owner which I'm reasonably happy with.
Your point that Harley make the best touring bikes made me think of an encounter a few months ago.
My local dealer literally threw me the fob of a road glide special demo, which I have to say looked and sounded incredible.
I'm a similar height to yourself and within half an hour of riding the bike I had definitely formed an opinion that for the amount of money the bike cost it was without doubt the most disappointing bike I had ever ridden.
The buffeting from the screen was ridiculous, weither I sat up, crouched down, either way it was awful. The ride out was on a beautiful day if a little breezy and the side winds proved difficult to hold the bike on a chosen line.
When I arrived back at the dealer I told him how much I wanted to enjoy the bike but felt massively disappointed.
And to compound matters he had valued my bike, which left a balance of £19000 . Utter madness.
For me Harley is a lifestyle, and no way are they a better tourer than RT BMW's, honda goldwings and not to mention many more.
Sorry, but that's only my opinion.

Hurray some one who actually says how it is. I’ve owned 7 Harleys, the last 2 were street glides. Great bike as you said if your mile munching but no so good on narrow country lanes.
I ride mostly 2 up and have toured all over the Uk. I’ve done Scotland to death because I love the place and I can honestly say riding the highlands on a street glide was hard work. I have a BMW k1600b option 719 which was bought from new and the prices are very similar for a new bike. I did the Route 500 last year on it and compared to the Harley it light years ahead. It is so easy to ride and handles all the narrow lanes with ease. You are quite tight that you should buy a bike that will do what you want it to do. Street glides are an American bike built for the American market it does well in Australia too because of the long straight roads. I’d love to get another Harley but at the moment for me they don’t do what I need a bike to do for my sort of riding. That being said when I stop touring I will in all probability go back to Harley, that’s if we’re still allowed to buy petrol vehicles. …..great vid by the way. I always watch as unlike some your not afraid to give the negative points of a bike. Keep it up please.

I refer to them as "the Iffy Stand"..
The fairing fixed to the frame is the "Shark Nose" and the one floating on the front end is the "Bat Wing", both are classic, though with the single headlamp I find the Bat Wing more so and the Shark Nose can look particularly bitchin'..
You probably know how well the handling tightens up with some progressive springs and longer units at the rear, the remote reservoirs work particularly well too.
I think it's great that Harley haven't ironed out the character of the Iffy stand, even after all this time.

In addition to wanting the price of it to be lower. For a small person like me, it would be great if there was a reverse gear as well.

The R 18 has a much lower centre of gravity and therefore doesn’t feel heavy. Engine torque delivery very similar.

I went and had a look at one of these, today, at our local Harley dealer. I've got to say, fit and finish was not what I expected it to be. Very clearly, all sorts of components come from different manufacturers. There were obvious differences in paint finishes throughout the bike. I had my mate have a look at what I was seeing, and he agreed. Perfectly polished on the for legs, a bit of peel on the triple trees, and just an overall presentation of "thin" paint across all the components. And the paint on the "big" components, tank/fairing/guards and panniers, didn't make you stand back and go "Wow", either. It just looked a bit "cheap". The black "crackle" finish on the cases looked cheap, at best. It just didn't scream "premium". And don't mention the war! The exhaust is an afterthought. And what ever happened to chrome and polished aluminium? Isn't that why you buy a Harley?
It has been years since I've been into an HD dealership. Contrary to popular belief, the service was great. But honestly, the product seemed a bit "Chinesium", for my liking, compared to only a few years ago. O.K, probably a decade or so. Keep your eyes open if you're buying one of these, new. You pays your money.

Isnt it a normal thing with new motorcycles now? because they have to follow the super strict green EU agenda and only use water based paints and super thin amounts? from what ive seen paint on most modern cars and bikes is rubbish

      @davidbrayshaw3529 Год назад

I honestly don't know the answer to that. I had a look at a couple of Kawasaki's, last week, and I'd say that the paint finish was pretty similar to the Harley Davidson, nothing to write home about. You've given me something to think about. But then again, I was in a Mazda dealership, not too long ago, and you could go swimming in the paint, it was that deep. Once again, you've given me something to think about and I'll have to pay more attention. Interesting. @@Kevin97587

They are constantly trying to attract new owners by continually trying to make something to satisfy most riders. That constant changing I believe that puts premium quality a notch back from say 10 to 15 years ago.

A lovely bike spoilt by that paint job, no decent pillion seat or back rest and a crazy price tag. They look fantastic touring in the States, see Matt Laidlaw videos, but look a bit over the top for UK roads.

I can totally see why the people in charge would have made the speed limit no more than 40 miles an hour in your neck of the woods. Even those long, drawn out wide open highways that you show in the video look very, very dangerous to me if they were traveled above 40 miles an hour. So, please make sure you adhere to these very sensible laws and limits.
