  • The Harley-Davidson Street Glide is the fully faired tourer that you can cruise around town or throw on a tour pack and go for the long haul. It's no wonder it's such a popular model with all the versatility these motorcycles offer. As popular as the Street Glide is today it's hard to believe it didn't sell well the first year. Street Glide's have a nice weight advantage over the other touring models while still having an infotainment system. It's also not hard to make your own Street Glide, there are so many nice used Electra Glides for sale from different years at much lower prices. All you need to do is strip the Electra Glides down to the bare minimum and you've just created a Street Glide for whole lot less.

Never understood the need for tunes, on a motorcycle.
I’ve done across state rides many times.
The motor, the exhaust, noise, is why I love riding.

    • @FXFBS540
      @FXFBS540 Год назад +2

I hate riding with a bunch a touring bikes, its like sitting at a light and everyone around your is blaring a different Nickleback or Five Flavor Fruit Punch Song at the same time. I like tunes when I ride, but given how good Cardo, Sena, and other brands in helmet audio has become, those bike Stereos are obsolete. I can rip 80mph+, and have a clear conversation across the phone with a open face helmet with my Cardo, talk to my girl on the back, then go back to listening to music or a Podcast without everyone else in the world having to listen as well.

    • @gabemccarty8128

I agree if the exhaust the wind and all the noise from the ride isn't the reason for the ride then you need to reevaluate the reason you ride.

That’s why I have multiple bikes, serve different purposes. My touring bike needs everything, including enough power to pull a sports car red light to red light.

I bought a 2022 Roadking standard last year. I am super happy with it. I haven't even really watched my gas mileage on it yet. But that is gonna change at the end of May. When we go on a 1500 mile one way road trip. Hell at the moment, the only relevant mileage for me. Is the inspection intervals. My bike has had only the break-in inspection/oil change . And still have 4k miles to go until the next one. But I will have it done early for my road trip. I also own a 2012 FXDF Dyna Fatbob with a Twincam 96. The difference between the Twincam 96 and the M8 107 . Is mind blowing. The power and tork that the M8 has is just amazing! The Twincam is nice, and is a much stronger engine than my old evo I used to have. But they can not hang with the KING! And that baby is stock as a rock. I bet it is an awesome machine in the stage 2 configuration. Hell the stage one will be a neck snapper too for that matter... lol

I originally wanted a street glide, but with everything I wanted to add for 2 up, the ultra made more sense, now I have a quick detach tour pack, so basically its a street glide now, obviously apart from saddle bag height, front lamps etc, and so on, you get the point though.

So I have a 2014 Firefighter Shrine Streetglide 103 HO . I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT . I PUT Scully air ride on it to drop the rear suspension when backing out ( better foothold ) then raise it on the fly with bar mounted buttons . Sadly on the 3rd of this month ( April 23) I get a young dude on his phone ram me up the ass !!!In a 05 Chevy pickup POS. But Thank God he glanced my left hard bag and ripped my bag bar off( that I had put on ) .Now it's at the dealer waiting for parts and hopefully all is straight with the Alignment. Must be getting old because it's like shit happens and I'm older . In the old days I'd of probably ripped his head off. 😉😎

Still got my 2014 SGS. Last thing I did was to put steel braided front brake lines on. Kinda for fun, kinda for looks and kinda for performance. But what it did was make it easier to find my Black bike! Easy to spot the brake lines as I'm walking along looking for my bike. As far as gas mileage, I get around 48+ if I stay off the trottle. Get up to the 80's, it drops down to around 42mpg. Running up in the Sierra Nevada passes, it will get 52mpg. Amzaing you go higher in elevation, the milage goes up. Don't know the farest I've ever gotten on a tank. I can tell ya it's farther than I care to ride. Gotta take those breaks. Thanks for a great video.

Don't like the lower rear shocks--limit lean angle for slow speed maneuvers--and ride hard. Guess I will always be a Road King'er!

I had one and hated it. One thing I didn't consider when buying it was that it is a lowered bike and me being a larger guy, the suspension sucked. Probably should have replaced the suspension like you're supposed to do with every other part on it except the frame. It's all good now though since it got replaced with a DCT Tour. If I had to give up my Wing for another Street Glide, I'd quit riding.

I had a 2018 Softail slim. It was okay. Scraped footboards on turns. Too low and expensive for what you get. Traded it in for brand new 2019 Street glide special. Added LED headlight tour pack. Padded seat. Rear foot boards. Pretty much it's like a limited but more specialized. I live in Tennessee and there's lots of amazing rides. It's a great bike.

If you really want a stripped down tourer check out the FLHS. I have a 1991 that I bought new. I put a tour pak on it and went to California and back to the east coast. My favorite. I also have a 2009 Ultra. I just don’t use the tour pak unless on a trip.
Street Glide- much ado about nothing.

I love the street glide. But I wouldn't trade my roadking for 1. As for fuel milage. I get just over 200 miles to a tank.

Batwings are just sexy as hell. I have four Harleys now in the garage and I can assure you that I am able to master the STGS without complaints of fairing issues. Any guy who complains about "wind buffeting" should probably resort to a "dad's bike" and get off the Harleys. My street glide is my number daily ride unless it's snowed the day of here in Seattle. I am a 05'02" female.... 😘

I'm not lying when I say I've done over 300 miles on a tank on my 22 road glide. Stage 1. I coasted every single hill I could going through the mountains in California into Nevada. Sometimes I could coast for miles and miles.

I always liked the look of the police bike. I liked the street glide because you could build a lot of bike from the factory. I almost pulled the trigger on one until I rode one and was turned off by the fairing wind resistance, Maybe I'm just use to naked bikes.

I bought a new bike last year. I really wanted to buy a streetglide. But wound up buying a Roadking St. Why? Only one reason , the price. I could have bought the Roadking special and still paid less than a streetglide. That fork mounted fairing isn't worth the money. And I can retro fit one any time...

I have a 2010 Limited 103' with a S&S 583 cam and tune. Cruising in FL at 75-80 mph I go about 180 miles before stopping for fuel, and I will have a little more than a gallon left in the tank. So I should get around 210-220 miles at that speed. Leaving Key West (the only place you will average 45 mph for over 100 miles) I was pulling 52 mpg.
