It's officially OVER! The End of an Era.. Now What?

  • I recently received a video of the last Hemi powered "L" car leaving the Brampton assembly plant, which happened to also be the last Demon 170 produced. This is officially marks the end of the muscle car era as we know it. I share with you my thoughts on this massive transition from Dodge. How does it make you feel watching the very last hemi powered challenger leave the factory?

Horrible decision by Dodge and Stellantis. Hopefully, when they lose billions and eventually decide to reverse this decision, they'll finally understand who and what made them so successful in the first place.

@bc9477 Highly doubtful. The type of owners they have now are accustomed to kowtowing to government and toeing the line. They're sheep to the federal wolves. They're used to building cheap (and I don't mean economically), weak/underpowered, slow, and lame or lazy designs with no innovations. The Demon was only cool in reality to those who owned them! It was a last gasp of life from a dying era. Well, an era that was strangled and murdered. Now Dodge will be represented more vanilla vehicles that specific types of people will buy. It won't be the guys that paid a quarter mill for a Challenger. It'll be green conscious goobers that want Urkle cars with batteries that have no idea how truly devastating the production process of a battery really is. Dodge is done.

They don't have a choice...Dodge was paying out the ass in CAFE fines to the federal government to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars so they can financially continue making those vehicles. This is partially why the Charger and Challenger were increased in price to try and make up those costs. Dodge doesn't have any fuel efficient vehicles to offset the horrible mileage and emissions the Charger and Challenger have so they were having to purchase CAFE credits from companies like Tesla which are very expensive.
This is why vehicles like the Dodge Hornet are important to Dodge whether you like the vehicle or not. The more vehicles like that they sell the more Dodge can make a new muscle car and sell it without having to pay those fines. You should want to Hornet to sell very well, even if you don't like it.

The most depressing part about the future? EV vehicles... Those are just not for me. Goodbye HEMI Challenger. You will be missed. 😭

I think they're still lots of fun to be had with these cars, I mean, it's not like Stuff we don't know about them are gonna be found out Or at least much stuff, but the whole reason I got the super stock Is cause I figured Y not Try to get one of the rarest To at least have that to say, but it's just another name Kind of a demon in sheep's clothing With almost a matching price tag, But no fan fair.😢 I mean, it's stupid that the direct connection kits literally just tern it into what it is a demon, Lately even says the same stuff once you do it. Must add 100 octane 2 get blah Blah blah Just need to activate on the uconnect instead of a button. And shhh🤫 But it's really easy to do yourself Not like I was gonna sit there and pay Dodge thousands of dollars for just a little bit of power. But I'm going big with this one.

Kind of hard to remember the good things when they're so overshadowed by the horrible. No one here denies the cool things like HEMIS, 'Cats, TRX, Trackhawks, wheelies, etc etc etc but when you have to put out a statement of WHY you're killing anything worthy of excitement that takes longer to explain than what you're actually there for (Kuniskis telling us how much they've lost/paid out for credits) then it consumes any excitement. The Demon was ONLY done to prayerfully hype the brand high enough in hopes of people doing what you're doing now and "remembering the good times" before they turn to trash. If they weren't making the move to priority EV production, not manufacturing a V8 for anything, and not having one single performance car after nearly 2 decades of them, the Demon would've never saw the light of day. That's why they didn't give a flying shot dealers were screwing "The Brotherhood" until it got national press an active duty Marine was shafted and only THEN did Tim Kuniskis lift a finger. But ONLY for that particular case. Not the other 3,299 cars that went over sticker with ADM lugnuts for $99,999.

Man, in 6 years Dodge/Chrysler has killed the Viper, Challenger, Charger, 300, Ram TRX(ALL v8 Rams, Jeep Trackhawk (ALL v8 Jeeps) and what did they give us? One car 98% of their customers can't afford, an import style inline 6 TT that will inevitably have myriad issues when they've claimed the American Muscle crown for decades, and just a whooole lot of uncertainty. If I were in the market for another toy I'd go to Ford and I cry saying that lol. At least they're innovative and kept trying. They were also business savvy to build new models to offset their carbon footprint so they could CONTINUE to build a muscle/pony car. GM is just as guilty killing the Camaro, but Dodge now holds the crown of weakness and mediocrity.

@@jeffrey501green Well, unfortunately it's the truth and saddens me. The Demon, and Kuniskis being brought in was NOTHING but a marketing ploy, proactive CYA and CRISIS MANAGEMENT. Demon and Kuniskis was eye candy and smooth talk to get your eye off the ball. Just ask yourself this...would something like the Demon, a car leaps above the Hellcat (any flavor and it was comparable to GMs and Fords hottest engine so it had market competition thus it was a good move), ever have been made if they weren't going to gut the companies catalog and remove not just EVERY performance model and V8, but 3 entire models regardless of engine and emissions output? No. Hell no. The Demon, as awesome as it is, because it is bad as hell, was a way to buy some favor from Dodge fans in hopes it would last until they figure their messy shit out and bow before the EPA. On the other hand, IMAGINE, if Dodge, GM, & Ford got together and made a plan to tell the EPA to shove it. Well shut down nationwide production of every domestic car in the country, and we're not paying these ridiculous "fines" anymore for you to then donate them via subsidies to BS green companies that embezzlement and waste it then close shop! They had power together and could've lobbied together to stop this absurd push that will NEVERRRRR make its deadline. EVs ARE the future. Even car guys with half a brain see that. But you can't forcefully create an industry and supporting infrastructure in 5 or 10 years. Implement that over 20-25 and gives us a valid plan and maybe we'd support it. But there's no common sense in DC. On EITHER SIDE, red or blue.

Well,K cars would fit in your budget...Aries and Reliant were the K cars...Even the square LeBaron was..The sportier J Body or J Car LeBaron and H body or H car LeBaron GTS were a lot nicer..
The G body or G -Car Daytona/Laser was cool car that did beat 5.0 Fox Body or Fox cars and 5.0 and 5.7 Chevy/Pontiac Trans-Am and Camaro back in the day..
Shelby Charger L body were pretty quick especially for 1980's cars 14-15 sec 1/4 mile cars...Those K cars Aries/Reliant with the Chrysler built 2.2 and 2.5 4cyl ran 300,000 miles and were good driving, solid cars..The Japanese imports were ugly as hell back then for the cars in the same class..
I am a former Toyota Tech (retired at 38 several years ago) and the owner of the dealer I worked for also owned a Chrysler dealer adjoining building..I started in the early 90's and they still worked on Aries/Reliant K cars as they built the K car until 1989..They were as good and better than some Toyota products back then..
Remember people assume the mileage on the odometer is actual, they only went to 99,999 then to 00,000 again Chrysler didn't use a 6 digit odometer until the early 90's on most cars, this is where the confusion begins even with old 60's and 70's cars..They all have 200,000 plus miles! I am a car guy/collector and restorer!
Now,I assume you meant K car Aries/Reliant for the looks, well they have the Hornet for that these days...Dodge is dead and gm will dump a few divisions yet,Ford is electric after 2028 when the Mustang Coupe goes away, only the Mustang Electric suv..
Do what I did, until 2005 I drove 1960's and 70's Mopar cars my daily was a low 12 second 1/4 mile 383 Cuda..383 was pretty much stock,Mopar purple cam and mildly polished/ported heads..I also ran 3.23 gearing..I had and have tons of old cars as I always bought/sold cars since the late 80's as a teen.

Unless the EPA CAFE MPG laws can be changed at the federal level, any one who buys Dodge, or any other company, will be faced with the same problem that Dodge is facing right now with the CAFE standards! They certainly are NOT going to invest hundreds of millions of dollars to build an engine and vehicle that they cannot sell or if they sell, they will be penalized to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars - that's what Stellantis is experiencing right now!!! Stellantis now pays hundreds of millions of dollars to Tesla to buy carbon credits for their corporate MPG doesn't meet federal standards!!! So Tesla does nothing but make their battery cars and get paid this pile of money just because the federal government has their hand on the scale tipping it in favor of battery car.

Some silly decisions were made and I sold the 1320 but found myself in a Widebody Scat pack years later. These cars have been such a thrill and a love affair for me and to see them go away possibly forever as the muscle car we all have come to love just hurts my heart. hi, the last ship delivery from Charger and Challener has now arrived at the port of Bremerhaven in Germany.
It makes me very sad that the Americans are also riding the eco horse.
and..., many people don't even know... from 2035, new combustion vehicles will no longer be allowed to be registered in the EU.
Only electric vehicles can now be registered here.
However, used vehicles still retain their registration... although the EU is also working on gradually taxing them at high prices. Damn EU.
    Greeting from Germany

Its so sad dude 😢 I work with and see several chargers and challengers daily. Not demons unfortunately but, like today it hurt to see a scatpack shaker retuned with door dents, fenders with collision holes in them and chewed up wheels. As someone that takes pride in their ride and would love to have a v8 challenger someday it saddens me to see another beauty with so much damage.

    Hello folks.
    Thanks for the video RacerX
Boys and girls, I am totally disappointed, shocked and angry that Dodge and Ram are doing this and abolishing themselves.
    I'm from Germany and had a 2011 and now a 2018 ram 1500 5.7l hemi.
The engines and the sound are incomparable.
The Hemi is certainly not perfect, but it has gotten everyone from A to B for over 20 years.
Some have already expressed their opinions here. positive or negative.
In Germany/Europe, the Ram 1500 is in first place among all three US truck manufacturers. and it is bought because of the V8. !
Ram truck had 5 years to develop a new one and what should replace it. ?! A shitty inflated forced-cooled 3l bulkhead engine??!! Honest!! It was a mistake for FCA to team up with the French for this measure.
I hope that you over the pond, dodge and ram fire under the ass and that you feel that it was a single mistake. No electric or twin turbo crap can replace a V8.
    My 2018 Ram consumes 11l - 100km - 21.3814mpg depending on the weather
And I don't need a V6 or even any electrical junk.
Please don't buy this shit and make it clear to Dodge/Ram what's under the hood.
    especially CEO Kuniskis.
    Thanks.

Rides much better too, and I love the Challenger. I predict Ford is going to make BANKKKKK with the Mustang the next 5 to 10 years now. BUT that NEXT ZR1 and Zora....will be a thrilling beast of a ride.

Just so unfortunate that this muscle car era has to come to an end. At least back in the 70's manufacturers still produced the nameplates. While not quite as powerful, many were still cool cars in their own right.
However, the social climate today has way too much momentum to give engineers a chance at keeping the i.c.e. V8 alive.
All we can really do is pray for some really cool, fun to drive vehicles in the future. Of course, also saving our pennies knowing the muscle car future is going to be rebuilding the classics.

    • @BrotherKellerman
      @BrotherKellerman 3 месяца назад

@@jointhefist1016 yep at least that, and I’d honestly say it’s closer to 10 than 5. But even then I mean can an electric truck tow what as much as v8 can all day on one tank of gas/one charge? And then gas companies will go out of business as well leaving millions upon millions of people without vehicles potentially. Then on top of that I can fill up my truck in about 5 min tops, I’ve seen electric cars take up to 30 minutes causing major lines and delays. Also many “off brand” charging stations may not even work for your vehicle. It’s gonna be a huge change and I think forcing it now is just dumb by the powers that be, I just think the world is ready for it.
