Dodge Steps in to help US Soldier after Mac Haik Screwed Him - Massive Backlash

  • Dodge recently stepped in to help a US soldier after his Demon 170 was sold out from under him by Mac Haik Dodge in Flowood MS. Many RUclips personalities caught wind of the situation and it caught so much traction that Dodge stepped in to help this gentleman get his dream car. This is proof that social media is powerful tool and dealerships can no longer get away with the unfair business practices that they have gotten accustomed to.

    This whole situation really pissed me off.. Mac Haik has been doing this for years… the guy that bought the soldiers car actually went to pick up a silver demon.. but the dealership sold that out from underneath him, then offered him the soldiers vehicle. I’m super happy Dodge stepped up and made this happen. Especially the Jay Leno delivery.,,, Thinking of you and your family Paul 🙏

      and that same buyer, Larry I think was his name, felt so horrible he contacted the soldier and his family to give it back. It did not even have to reach this point when the stealership had every chance to correct this snafu.

    This entire debacle could have been avoided had Tim Kiniskus enforced his promise that he would not allow dealerships to charge more than MSRP. He ABSOLUTELY knows that many of the Demon orders had been placed bybusing straw customers, yet he chose to turn a blind eye to it. The same thing happened with sales of the Ram TRX. Stellantis needs to get their house in order.

    • @voodoodiecast

    While I think it is absolutely great that Dodge stepped in and gave this serviceman one of the held back Demons at MSRP, I have to pause for a second, and think about all the other people that had this same exact thing happen to them, and still have zero recourse. Let's be completely honest, the ONLY reason this happened was optics. The horrible optics of the guy that was screwed being a serviceman stationed overseas, and how it was reported online and blew up. Did Dodge step in and help ANYONE else that had this same exact thing happen to them??? NO! Tim K. simply saw an opportunity to be the "hero" and make an easy PR move by doing this. Dodge could have prevented all of this from the very beginning, but did NOTHING. Again, I am VERY happy that this soldier is getting his car, and I am SUPER happy that Mac Haik is getting hammered over this, as they should, but I totally disagree that "Dodge is pissed at Mac Haik" and how awesome Tim K. is for stepping in and "doing the right thing" when they haven't done it in the past year, and are only doing it because of the public backlash and an easy PR layup by stepping in. Again, what about all the others?

    Unethical dealers should not be allowed to get any high end and/or specialty vehicles. There should be a list online of these dealerships for people to see and be made aware their deals could be altered at the point of delivery, which is messed up. Customer satisfaction is not their priority. Great job Dodge! I'm more proud than ever to drive my Last Call car.

    Dealership price gouging is not limited to Dodge. It is a problem that has infected most of the industry in which dealerships can talk people into spending $100,000+ on pickup trucks. The dealers are begging for greater government regulation with their fraud and dishonesty.

    Being a 26 year military Veteran and a subscriber to ButtaDaInsider, I was very excited and Proud of BDI on how he broke the news on how this Service member was mistreated. I chimed in on this story at BuddaDaInsider’s channel and gave the Haik dealership my two cents on how unprofessional they were as a company. The ONLY way to describe this is greed on behalf of the Haik dealership. The last person they should have done this to is an Active Duty member , who is serving in a war zone, and protecting our way of living as Americans. There should have been some heads rolling over at Haik Dodge. Thank you again Buddy Da Insider for shedding light on this story and giving it the attention it deserves.

    I am impressed that so many people came to the support of this individual. I bought my 2012 Charger SRT direct from the factory and had it shipped to the dealership at the advice of a salesperson. This saved me thousands of dollars in dealer addons and mark ups. I ordered the car in April and waited until November for it to be built and delivered. I received emails and messages from the manufacturer during the entire building of the car. My wife and I were VERY excited to receive this car. When I went to the dealership to pick up my car, the owner of the dealership was there and tried to pull the car from under me. I had no idea, I could have been screwed by the owner and that I would have had no recourse to get the vehicle. Fortunately, in my case, the owner didn't push the issue any further and I am still the proud owner of a 2012 SRT................. My heart goes out to this soldier and his situation and my hat is off to Dodge and Jay Leno for making a PR Nightmare a better deal for him. Shame on the dealership for exploiting someone for profit and showing zero ethics.

    My thanks and appreciation to all of the folks who together made the situation better for a US serviceman. I'm glad Dodge and Tim K. stepped in and found a solution. With that said, anyone who couldn't see this coming at the onset of Last call and chief donut maker is as blind as a person can be. As much as I wanted to step up from my Scat Pack to a Supercharged car I refuse to allow myself to be victimized. For that reason I turned my back on the last 2 years of Dodge, at least until they announced the unbelieveable Demon 170. I tried to purchase one from a dealer and salesman I know (they sell at MSRP or less) but both allocations were already sold. Fortunately, one was sold at MSRP on day 1 to a very deserving person I know. I hope he has the car now but 2 weeks ago he didn't yet have it even though he was a very earlier purchaser (order 600 ish) supposidly with priority for MSRP purchase while Mac Haik and other were floor planning Demons via fake purchasers.

    Thank you to “Butter De Insider” to his coverage. This is why lawmakers need to get their asses together and introduce laws that would outright ban markups on any vehicle like the FTC did with junk fees regardless of whichever class car or truck.

    I have a friend who just bought a demon 170 , he agreed to pay $25k over sticker . Upon delivery (the car came in early) the financing became an issue so amazingly the dealership said we’ll wave the $25 k so the loan will go through ! How cool is that ! He’s picking it up this sat !

    Years ago, we signed a sales contract for a new Buick Rainer and left a deposit. When we went to pick the vehicle up, the owner of the dealership told us that if we wanted the vehicle we would have to finance part of it through GMC. There is a God, years later the dealership folded and the owner's wife was arrested for embezzling at work to pay off gambling debts. Ha, ha.

    I seen alot of comments asking if the soldier will get the replacement for MSRP or if he still has to pay the markup. I too was curious. According to an article published in The Drive he will only be paying MSRP. Great job Dodge.

    To answer your question about how this worked because it was the people. This is why America was founded. When corps, governments, or anyone else tread over our neighbors we come together and stand up for each other. It’s beautiful. And I think we should have these attitudes towards more things in our daily lives. Getting back to that sense of community. Love you all!❤

    Kudos to all of the RUclips content creators that brought a spotlight on the situation. I'm glad that Tim at Dodge stepped in to correct the situation., But ... Dodge's seemingly hands-off attitude toward dealers gouging buyers during their BS "Last Call" marketing gimmick made it possible for the Mac Haik dealership to screw the US Soldier.
    Frankly, Dodge should pull the franchise from Mac Haik. Anything short of that tells other dealers that they can get away with anything and wait for corporate to solve the problem.

    Great video. I would submit this dealership will survive and come out of this virtually unscathed.
    I disagree that they’re in a world of hurt or in trouble. When all is said and done, most will forget what happened and won’t hesitate to go there, especially if their car is available and the price is right.
    Sadly there are very few honorable dealerships left. As you pointed out lots of bad things happening in this industry.
    Yes social media is a powerful voice for the consumer but some of these dealerships are run by well connected people. Anyone remember what happened to Paul from Family Crusin when he tried to disparage a dealer up north? His life quickly unraveled.

    • @RacerX9
      @RacerX9  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes I remember that.. it was a shame! This was a situation where an entire community banned together! It will definitely take time and some damage control with consumers and Dodge in my opinion

    • @RobZelinka
      @RobZelinka 3 месяца назад

      @@RacerX9 You're right, an entire community did come together and that drove a positive outcome for the guy who got shafted. That said, if you define the community as the YT community, then I'd submit most of these people live outside the market this dealership serves so the impact to them would be minimal.
      For the sake of discussion, I will concede to your point here though and while the actions of this dealership are deplorable, they are in good company with other dealerships that are also doing deplorable things. Generally speaking, this is not an industry that operates from the premise of having high integrity.
      Last point on Dodge. I think it's fantastic that the CEO of Dodge got involved to drive the right and proper outcome for this customer. That said, how many other instances are there where a dealership shafts a consumer? Quite a few if you look at the BBB, and other online reviews. I would submit there's little to no accountability for these dealerships. In my mind these dealerships make a lot of money, and the manufacturers are benefactors. There is little reason to believe that a dealer will get cutoff by manufacturer. How many times have we seen so called market adjustments even with the manufacturer saying there will be consequences for this. I ask what consequences?
      I keep going back to in most cases, these businesses are very well connected in their communities, cities, states, and even in some cases they have national connections. All the reason why I think this will quickly be forgotten.

    Same thing happen to me at a Ford Dealership in Phoenix with a 2006 Mustang GT, I ordered a car from the factory and once the vehicle arrive at the dealer all the numbers changed . The dealer explained that the price change was due to market conditions. I walked away and never returned to that dealer. I have purchased three more Mustangs since without stepping a foot on that dealer that screwed me.
