The indignant and STRONG manner in which he closed his speech, and, walked off in disgust, knowing "I'm Not Fearing Any Man" line is the clue- spot on like you aptly stated
You can see it in his eyes that he was tired. The phone calls and death threats had accumulated and taken it's toll at this point. They kept calling and telling him that he wasn't going to leave Memphis alive. He wasn't going to make this speech as he wasn't feeling well. We're all fortunate that he did. Here's a man who walked into a hurricane gladly for the sake of not just the black race, but for the sake of all man kind. God rest his soul.

Return_Of_The_Mack apparently in the autopsy report the coroner said that Martin had the heart of a 60 year old. And they credited it to all the stress from 13 years of fighting for civil rights.. The man sacrificed everything for the better of mankind. His legacy must not only be remembered. But carried through by us all in our daily lives.
Heidy Lopez I've shared it with my two sons their entire lives, and now as teens they listen to it frequently and independently. Good for you and your classes!
Yes. This was his greatest speech. He was a great man of Integrity and honor. But before anything he was a Christian man of Christ. His life was to fight segregation and serve Jesus With all his will. He said, "he seen the promise land". That's referring to the old testament. That the Lord gave Moses His tribulation to free the Israelite slaves and he was not going to be able to see that happen. Same thing with Martin Luther King. The Lord spoke to him And told him he was going die soon. This speech touches my heart. Because it's a religious speech that his time is up on earth. May God rest his soul.

Abraham Alarape So true Abraham. I've always regarded MLK as an example of a modern prophet from God. I get chills with early word, especially the coming of the Lord. phew.
Nahu Dimitri I believe he is referring to the passion that brother King displays in his words in comparison to an ancient prophet of the Lord...The intense faith in GOD to lay down ones life for HIM in the face of great opposition....
This being his last speech looking into his eyes and listenning to him, I think he knew it would be his last speech. Such a great man and a great speech

I don't care if your religious or not, you really need to understand the story of Moses on the mountaintop to understand how unbelievably prophetic this was. As the story goes, Moses, after a long decades long journey, had the Israelites stop at the river. Moses went up on the mountaintop to see the Promise Land of Israel for he first time. God told Moses that he would not be allowed to enter the Promise land, because he had destroyed the ten commandments. So, Moses went down, gave a speech to the Israelites, and returned to the mountaintop, where he died, as the Israelites entered into their promise land.

I believe he knew his death was imminent. I’m 52 and I’ve searched for and watched this speech over and over and over again. I’ve NEVER, ever seen, heard, *felt* a more impassioned, moving speech in all my life. God was speaking through him that night, I so firmly believe. His confidants said that after his speech, he was guided into his chair, then nearly collapsed. I pray that this movement happening right now June 2020 will *finally* materialize and begin to bring forth the Promised Land which is so, so long overdue. If you aren’t already, please support the most important cause of our lifetimes. 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
Laura Butler , even though I do not celebrate 28 days of the year in February, I knowledge that many people who have given their lives in order that we would be so much farther now , if only we knew how to weld together in unity respect and being proud of what all of them had done. They did their part it is still up to us to pick up where they left off. God over everything. Rest In Peace Mr. Martin Luther King Jr.
He had been cooped up in his motel room all day. Didn’t feel like leaving. Had already put on his pajamas and gotten into bed when some of his staff called him and said people were there hoping he’d show up and convinced him to get out of bed and come down in the pouring rain. And he was only going to make a few quick remarks but then ended up giving this prophetic, goosebump-inducing speech. He was a very depressed and stressed man towards the end of his life and I believe he did know his time was close because I believe he was exhausted and somewhere deep down he almost wished he could finally stop fighting and have peace. He was 39 when he was murdered and his autopsy revealed he had the heart of a 60-year-old. All that stress from leading a 13-year-long struggle for civil rights. You can see it in his face here. A great man who was beginning to burn out at far too young an age.
He was publicly purging his long fear of death. He seemed to have an aura or glow about him. He knew he was going to die. What absolute sacrifice this man made for his fellow human beings. His speech was the cumulation of all the training and technique he had learned previously. Absolutely brilliant speech
@@mNex00 no its "mine eyes".......it comes from a song. "mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the lord....he is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored."
When I visited the Lorraine Motel which is a civil rights museum now, I stood by the balcony where MLK was shot while this speech played. It was haunting, humbling and inspiring. Did MLK have a vision of what was to come? Looking at this speech, he seemed to know what the next few days would bring. A very brave man.
We need to show this footage to ALL OUR YOUNG PEOPLE. We want this man, and every man who leads and follows by his example of love and conviction and pride to be the EXPECTATION. My parents taught me that, really, we as a people need to pick up where He left off. Rest in peace Dr. King. Semper Fi for your service... I say this because the man was shot for our rights to freedom. I call that a veteran.
Wow you know that part when he says, "I may not get there with you..." is so ominous and dark. I wonder if he somehow knew that he would have to lay down his life for his great cause. That part always makes an impression on me.
Im sure he did expect it. as I am sure he was not afraid of that. he knew it was a small price to pay knowing that his actions and words would gain weight after his death. it was clear the government did it, just like they did with JFK
He's telling you how he knew very specifically, it wasn't an accident that those were his last words: God showed him what was to come. The speech takes on a new life with that in mind.
Anyone one of us can try to emulate, to be like him. To have the same type of strong moral conviction and deep understanding of humanity that he did. He was a man that had the courage to fight against the injustice of race and class. He saw them as two sides of the same coin. He fought for so much and was only scratching the service of the problems we were facing as a nation. If we read the words of King, and truly embrace his wisdom we can finish what he started. His message and spirit live in those who want to change things for the better.
This is par excellence example of Universal Human values. These powerful words will echo in eternity,as a real testimony of a non-violent fight for human rights, which was the only way The Great Martin Luther King strove...Unfortunately this is still a subject of debates even now, which is devastating-look whats happening on the streets...Whenever i feel that violence just might be an answer for any problem that occurs to us,i remember this SAINT.Martin although predicted his fatal fate and knew his days were numbered, never gave up on hope, never pointed a finger to lynch anyone,or asked for bloody retribution.Contrary, his powerful voice was even more determine, almost out of this World...I am sure that his words will defeat anything, that his preach will crumble any wall that“Protects us ”from each other in this dark and gloomy World.Maybe non of us will see that glorious day when well feel true freedom and togetherness, but be sure future generations will...Hope shall prevail !!!! Martin has become, not just a heritage for USA or Afro-Americans,hes a Lighthouse of Humanity for each one of us.
He wasn’t even supposed to go give this speech. He was tired and resting but the people called him up and requested him to come to the church. I’m so glad they did because it’s on e of the most memorable speeches of all time and it denotes he had came to peace with his own mortality with God. RIP Dr. King. Saying thank you is simply not enough.
The last part of this speech gives me chills. He could see his own murder and remained strong. He made the world better by sacrificing his own happiness for others.
+Queen B yes but listen to king said we have some different days ahead i sean the promise land we as of people get to the promise land thats was the part if the prediction it wasnt going to be easy
He new this speech was his last! Because he said I no things are not alright around me right now but I not afraid of anything I been through mountain paths. Right there you can see the tears on his face. This speech was to tell Americans and the world to remember him as a great hero and of freedom frighter.
I love US history. I love watching great speeches by American men and women. This may be the the greatest short speech in American history, along with the Gettysburg Address. Moving. Timely. Consequential. Prophetic. I’ve returned to this short clip many times to feel inspired and it never fails.
I remember see this on TV. My grandmother started crying and said he's going to die. They are going to kill him. I was 9 yrs old when he died. I ran to tell my grandfather, and I heard people outside screaming and shouting. That was the scariest time of my life.
It is truly awesome. To see a man that believes in the Lord Principles and took those principles with the believe of America Freedoms for all people .Then went out and change the world through love and peace.
If you ever want to see or doubt if there was a God, today you have just witness this man tell you what God will was for him & that he was going to do it if it meant his Life!!! My God, how dare anyone not respect the life one gave so that we may see the promise land it was done for you & I!! Thank God I am a believer I can't wait till the day I see Dr.King on the other side
He was amazing, and acquainted by God, to make this world a better place. He had seen enough injustice to the black people, I actually believe he was God sent or maybe God saw something so special he knew he was the one for this major task. Thank you God, all praise goes to God. Just like Jesus said. Blessings from Mexico.
I'm white and i have only one role model (is that English?) in my life. And thats Martin Luther King. A very impressive man. An example for all of us. Not only for white people, but for black also. It's always easier to point the finger to any other, point it too yourself and ask yourself what you can do to make this world a better place. Most people point to someone else and say out loud what he or she can do better. Thats the easiest way of course
He knew you can see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice 🙏🏽. They may have stopped your body, but they couldn't and never stopped your Spirit, Soul and your Precious belief for all Mankind.❤ Your as much loved and respected and remembered in 2019 as you was back then. R.I.P ❤❤❤❤
It's like he knew impending death was upon him. Very strange. This speech reveals so much yet leaves so much mystery as to what happened to him and what he suspected would. I feel sorry for him that he gave so much of himself over to his cause and lost himself in it. I don't think he was entirely comfortable yet it was too late for him to retreat and just be a Dad , husband and average guy. You could see in his eyes in many interviews that he looked a bit like a deer in the headlights and his nerves were on edge. Your heart really goes out to him when he was rallied on to continue yet had some reluctance to be the mascot for it all. It was just too much for one man to carry. Much like Jesus carrying the burden and then cross to his death. I find myself mesmerized by him whenever I see a documentary on his life. He was compelling and magnetic. I just feel his sadness and want to give him a hug. He makes me cry.
MLK was too smart for this world, he was long before allready in the promesed land. He knew it was his last speech, cause God had told him and he was not afraid. "The right to protest for right", I like that. The world needs such a leader as MLK asap. Pls. Lord, send us one.
In my opinion, I think that he already knew. I think that God talked to him and he knew that his time was drawing near hence him saying I just want to do god's will. He knew that he was about to die, but he was OK with it. He saw the promise land and he realized that it will get better. He was ready and his assignment was complete.
YES!!!! It's totally generational....will be listened too throughout eternity....so touching and motivational.....Thank God for using this man to do His will!!!
I love listening to MLK speech, he is not taught here in the philippines but his words resonate to the four corners of the globe. Rest in peace beautiful man and thanks for inspiring me.
I can tell that this man knew he was going to die. Anyone with a true relationship with God can feel it through his words and after looking into his eyes. I can tell that he had spent time with the Lord and he was shown a vision. He was tired...yes he sure was. But you tell that he was going to fight with his dying breath for ALL people to live together as one people. He must have been allowed to see it before he was taken away. Did it not come to pass...every word he spoke came to pass. No one can say it was a coincidence. God got all the glory out of his life and the situation that followed. I would say that I would be glad if he had lived to see it but it is obvious he did. If he had not....he would not have spoken as he did. This is an old speech....yet my spirit can discern so much from so little. Thank God for him and thank God for God!!!
He knew, bless him. And he was not afraid.
Yeah. I think he did know
,o yes he is the man for all hours

Laura Butler , even though I do not celebrate 28 days of the year in February, I knowledge that many people who have given their lives in order that we would be so much farther now , if only we knew how to weld together in unity respect and being proud of what all of them had done. They did their part it is still up to us to pick up where they left off. God over everything. Rest In Peace Mr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Laura Butler he’ll truly be a guide to ending racism. But people keep thinking that we must be racist to all colors. But it’s not turning out to good.
So powerful babes
"I might not get there with you" rip mlk he was a great man.
He was publicly purging his long fear of death. He seemed to have an aura or glow about him. He knew he was going to die. What absolute sacrifice this man made for his fellow human beings. His speech was the cumulation of all the training and technique he had learned previously. Absolutely brilliant speech
He sounds much like Jesus at the last supper he knew he was going to die

"I go to prepare a place for you"
He was assassinated a little over a week before Easter.
“I’m not worried about anything, I’m not fearing any man” GOSH how brave and beautiful this man was
killed for waking up his people with a message for those who had ears to understand
Yep.
Fortunately, others have stepped up in recent years to continue the work he started 50 years ago.
benjamin kilton , the speach was letting us know that he knew he was going to get murdered, listen closely
like who?
Yup. Isreal Wake up
Peacefully too damn them fools will pay
"Mine eyes have seen the Glory of the coming of the Lord!"
My*
You’re with him now dr. King. Standing right by the lord’s side
@@mNex00 he is correct. MLK said "Mine..."
@@sonja3659 yea i heard it while watching it my bad
@@mNex00 no its "mine eyes".......it comes from a song. "mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the lord....he is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored."
When I visited the Lorraine Motel which is a civil rights museum now, I stood by the balcony where MLK was shot while this speech played. It was haunting, humbling and inspiring. Did MLK have a vision of what was to come? Looking at this speech, he seemed to know what the next few days would bring. A very brave man.
his last speech was at a church in Paterson New Jersey
my teacher showed this at school and i cried and not let my friends see me crying
EBOLA MAN our teacher did to us too and I tried to hide my tears but I didn’t resist it 😭😭
No shame in crying, feelings make us human. MLK knew that and thought that was our power.
Thats right !!!!!
Gluteus Maximos let your friends see you cry this is real and the way all humans should be treated
Gluteus Maximos its absurd and at the same time motivational. We have to fight for all mankind to free.
@@stevenscully282 Very well said!!!!!
He says something as he walks away, but I can't pick it out....He knew what was around the corner...Wish we had another leader similar to him
Anyone one of us can try to emulate, to be like him.
His message and spirit live in those who want to change things for the better.
dream1133 definitely feel the same way just imagine if this generation and the generation before this just how far we would be!
He need them to help him as he was overcame with grief .
Did you see the tears well up in his eyes , he fought to hold them back
He said "into the Promised Land". That was the ending to his final sentence
No TelePrompter, no pre-typed speech...straight from the heart. ♥️
Hands down, THE most powerful few words of the 21st century. I am white, MLK is one of my greatest heros. Long live the Truth.
So what you're white? so what if you're black? we're all the same here m8:)
Mike W I hate to be that guy, but these words were from the 20th century.
Commenter839 but they carried into the 21 century it resonates til this day R.I.P martin luther king
Now that I'm older when I hear this I fully understand, R.I.P DR. Martin Luther King
We don’t hear people speak in such a way as this anymore now days. This was so passionate.
MLK's legacy will never die, I will always look to him for inspiration
He wasn’t even supposed to go give this speech. He was tired and resting but the people called him up and requested him to come to the church. I’m so glad they did because it’s on e of the most memorable speeches of all time and it denotes he had came to peace with his own mortality with God. RIP Dr. King. Saying thank you is simply not enough.
The last part of this speech gives me chills. He could see his own murder and remained strong. He made the world better by sacrificing his own happiness for others.
Facts!!!!!!
Incredible, very moving speech.
Every speech brings tears to my eyes. What a great man. I try to live by his words every day.

Great speech,great man
Greetings from KURDISTAN👍
He new this speech was his last! Because he said I no things are not alright around me right now but I not afraid of anything I been through mountain paths. Right there you can see the tears on his face. This speech was to tell Americans and the world to remember him as a great hero and of freedom frighter.
I love US history. I love watching great speeches by American men and women. This may be the the greatest short speech in American history, along with the Gettysburg Address. Moving. Timely. Consequential. Prophetic. I’ve returned to this short clip many times to feel inspired and it never fails.
A Great man of GOD.
Watching this on July 4 2020. Legendary speech
2:10 Dr. King smirked as if he knew that Jesus was ready for him to come home! Chills
2019 anyone watching this great leader??
“Longevity has it’s place” 🖤MLK’s legacy will long live on this planet.
I remember see this on TV. My grandmother started crying and said he's going to die. They are going to kill him. I was 9 yrs old when he died. I ran to tell my grandfather, and I heard people outside screaming and shouting. That was the scariest time of my life.
One of the greatest speeches, ever.
Legitimately one of the greatest men that ever lived.
My Lord. He was on fire in the pulpit that night! This speech is definately one of the best ever. Thank God this footage was taken and preserved
Thank God I am a believer I can't wait till the day I see Dr.King on the other side
monique wallace , AMEN 🙏🏾
Who watching after the Georges Floyd death
Desinat Djeffson I am still watching, he was our hero even now. I love this guy but he knew what is going to happen.
@@abyssiniamedia7701 agreed!
even to this day his speeches are very relevant.
Me
Feel like BLM need a voice like this to get stuff done. Pressure groups without a leader tend to be ineffective
That was a powerful speech.
Shayla Brewer very true
at 1:30 theres just something in his eyes, and then his voice breaks. its like he knew he was at the end
Those are tears. He was ready to cry, but he managed to hold back.
God bless him
What a GREAT man
Love from Algeria 🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿
When he said I’m not fearing any man made me shiver 🥶
This speech is so powerful, just amazing..God bless your soul, Dr. King.
'As evil as they were'. That doesn't sound very positive :)
My apologies man, but i'm just really happy at how attitudes towards different races have changed, it just lifts your mood.
I wish you were here right now to lead America with everything going on right now. Violence is not the answer.
It gives me chills every time I listen to this speech...every time.
Peace.
I needed to hear this today.
Tara Knight YES sister I am with you...
Same.
My favorite speech to preach and remember how great he was. I celebrate him regularly. I thank God for him.
This man was a prophet 😭 😭 💔 🇬🇭
2020 and I can't stop watching him 😓 😭 Rip daddy
it's scary how he knew..when he said " I May not get there with ya" they knew he knew
Fearlessly Given His Speech on last moment... 👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏
MLK was too smart for this world, he was long before allready in the promesed land. He knew it was his last speech, cause God had told him and he was not afraid.
"The right to protest for right", I like that.
The world needs such a leader as MLK asap. Pls. Lord, send us one.
Thank you Dr. King....God bless......
*If only this man wasn't killed he had so much more to say and change*
His will for change is working in us, and there will be leaders rising up to take us to the promised land
Bless his heart he knew his time was coming...what a great man and powerful speech RIP MLK
Martin Luther King Jr has earned his place as one of the greatest Americans to have ever lived. RIP 🙏🏼🇺🇸
I would venture to say one of the greatest human beings that ever lived.
It touches me every time I hear this final speech 🙏🏽🙌🏾😢.
Dude I cried man. Marvelous speech. R.I.P. MLK.
Hearing this speech made me cry. Thank you to MLK and the others that fought for my freedom.
last speech gave him death for speaking god truth
In my opinion, I think that he already knew. I think that God talked to him and he knew that his time was drawing near hence him saying I just want to do god's will. He knew that he was about to die, but he was OK with it. He saw the promise land and he realized that it will get better. He was ready and his assignment was complete.
Yes that's what we are in the world for only a few
Thank you Dr. King from the bottom of my heart
THIS WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING FELT HIS DEATH I ALWAYS FIND MYSELF LISTENING TO THIS
chills man
A man of God. His speech and faith moved Mountains. I truly believe he saw the promise land.
YES!!!! It's totally generational....will be listened too throughout eternity....so touching and motivational.....Thank God for using this man to do His will!!!
And then he was gone....if anyone from our history was needed at this time, it is this man.
