- This is a 1997 Porsche 911 (993) Carrera S, with a few choice modifications. One of the most iconic Porsche stylings of the 90's, this is quintessential 911 for me, a childhood dream car. One of these goes for about $200k on the used market now. But let me know if you think this 1997 Porsche 911 (993) is worth the price tag?
Big shoutout to @Zygrene for making this review possible and Jay (@arctic.993) for letting me test drive this car.

Maybe not this one, but clean low mile 993 c2s can go for over 200k. Last air cooled wide body with rear wheel drive.
Btw, this one 996 turbo twists and steering wheel.
Nice.
I've a 1996 993 C2 iris blue metallic, 66,000 miles, 6-speed manny tranny, varioram, LSD. No CEL, no oil leaks. Multi-show full-concours winner. I do my own maintenance. I'm never selling it.
Copy that .. My '98 C2S stays with me to my grave. .. Iris Blue metallic on a 993 coupe is gorgeous!
TY. Yup, we're both on the same page.
No...Varioram is not essentially the Porsche version of V-Tech... that would be "Variocam" if I'm not mistaken...
I love listening/feeling it engage in my 02, 3.2 liter, 6 speed, 986 Boxster S with a Fabspeed Exhaust, catless headers, CAI, IPD Plenum/TB, Numeric Shifter etc. every time it hits about 5200 rpm! 😊
993s are great cars - mine was a 1996 - but unless it’s a Turbo or Turbo S the $200K is very wishful thinking. The 996 steering wheel and astronomical mileage would limit the value on this one, and as others have noted arctic silver isn’t particularly rare or sought after. Still, they are a nice drive and I wish Porsche would get the 911 back to this size.
Thanks for clarifying the value!
Agreed it’s a great size for a sports car
The owner can still sell this car and get his money back. My 993 4s only has 55k miles on it.
The 993 is a car that requires skill and knowledge to get the most out of it. I have seen guys keep up with modern 911’s in their 993s.
True That ....
200 grand? No. Just no. Unless it's perfect condition and noone ever farted in the seat. And a more special color than silver.
You don't need to unlock/lock the car for the immobilizer if getting in after car has been unlocked for a few mins. Just put key in, turn it to acc on position, press button on key fob which will also flash the red light on door indicating clear to start and then turn key on to start. Again, no need for cycling the door locks and actuators...
Thank you so much! I literally did not know about it after having the car for two years!!
Always wondered why the S has the split slatted rear air intake/spoiler compared to the regular Carerra one piece slats.
217K miles Not near a 200K car.
+1 .. Tier One 1998 Carrera C2S examples do fetch ridiculous $ money; Yes on BAT. .. .. I'm an original '98 Carrera C2S owner. .. Spec'd the coupe from new with a laundry list of options, shy $22K in options alone. .. The coupe has had an open checkbook service history from day one. .. Is this 100% factory production stock '98 993 worth $180 to $225k??? (not for my money) .. The local P-car dealership made an open offer of $195K 3 years past. .. 993 C2S/C4S coupes with 1-2 owners, heavily optioned with modest mileage under 60K to 70K coupled with full-service documentation (no BS) ,,,,, easily fetch top dollar from today's market. .. Cheers,
P.S. Our Vintage Car insurance provider increased the "Declared Cash Value" to $190K three years ago. .. The 993 market is bigger than we think... It's Porsche Stupid! .. The coupe stays with me to my grave...
Not worth $200k. Thats ridiculous 😮
BAT is showing most of the C2S at 100-115k. Where did the 200k come from?
Hmm perhaps I’m mistaken. I was told day of filming that a nice example 993 C2S is close to 200k used
@@jubbalandcars The low mileage ones have gone over 200k. Sure. But this is not a low mileage one.
That is a $100K car…. Maybe in this market
Not a fan of mixing 996 parts on a 993.
Neither am I. .. Original OEM cars have there place. .. My '98 C2S 993 coupe is as stock as it was on delivery day; with 12 miles. .. Today 88K..
