One thing I wish you did change about Samurott is its ability. Shell Armor isn’t really the best ability, especially for a pokemon mainly geared towards offense. I think giving it something like adaptability would make it a truly dangerous pokemon to play around, and would give it a niche on rain teams.
Maybe Sturdy if it can get Shell Smash to guarantee the boost?
Sharpness would be fine. Hisuian Samurott has it so why not the base version.
@@EinSilverRose Boring + Make them distinct. Having Samurott as a mixed attacker is valid, but Sharpness would just make it a worse version of it's Hisuian form.
Serperior is the only design of the three final forms I actually like, and while we'll never see Contrary Draco Meteor, we at least have stellar Tera Blast, which isn't even resisted by anything
Drayano's rom hacks VoltWhite/Blaze Black and VolteWhite 2/Blaze Black 2 do exactly this for typing, abilities and moves.
Servine and Serperior are both part Dragon Type and Serperior can potentially have Contrary and Draco Meteor.
Pignite and Emboar are both part Ground Type...and in the VW1/BB1 they can get Adaptability for massive damage output.
Dewott and Samurott are both part Fightning Type. Samurott will also get access to Shell Smash!

Emboar should have been fire dark, he has dark sinister vibes, and it would have freed up the slot for incineroar to be the fire fighting type it’s supposed to be

Emboar is based on actual fighters.
Incineroar is a heel wrestler that is more brutish and underhanded, more fitting of the Dark type
i think dragon type for a non mega starter might be a bit too op, as it resists all of the starter types and electric. to balance that out the snivy line should either only get that type when it becomes a serperior and / or keep its not very good stat distribution. if it didn’t get a dragon type, another way to improve serperior is to swap its attack and defense stats, and maybe give a few more points to special attack (it doesn’t really need the bulk because it’s fast).
fire / ground is a good type for emboar but i could also see it being a fire / dark type

Cool ideas but you messed up the main rock paper scissors, Emboar is now 4x weak to water and Serperior is neutral to fire
Emboar falls under the Rampardos theorem. Lowering his speed while raising his defenses slightly would help but by how much. Fire/ground would make him even worse. I still think he should be Fire/Steel. Power creep would probably keep him in the lower tiers anyway.
A fast quadrapedal emboar would make sense, and it would charge into enemies and would make perfect sense with reckless. Also stab earthquake on a speedy(or sorta speedy) mon would be good as well.
I might actually post this as a concept to r/theorymons and give credit to this channel for inspiration.
It would probably have just pretty good speed because it would also need some bulk to make sense for the stature of emboar.

Not counting Mega Evolutions, we never got a starter Pokemon gain a Dragon type. Some starters had Poison, Flying, Fighting, Ground, Steel, Psychic, Dark, Ghost, and Fairy as their secondary typings.
I would be down for a video of you covering the buffs to old pokémon throughout gens 6-9:
Gen 6:
-Clefable (who was buffed before in gens 4-5 thanks to the new ability)
-Azumarill (finally Belly Drum and Aqua Jet on one set, via some QoL breeding changes)
-Scolipede (replacing HA Quick Feet with Speed Boost)
Gen 7:
-Pelipper, Torkoal, Gigalith, and Vanilluxe (new weather setters)
-Swellow (25+ Sp. Atk for abusing Boomburst alone)
-Masquerain (beefed up Sp. Atk and Spe by 20 points each)
Gen 8:
-Poltergeist for all the low-tier physical Ghost types who starved for good STAB
-Scorching Sands for the low-tier Fire types walled by Rocks
-Too many Close Combat users to count (Poliwrarth, Krookodile, Haxorus, Braivary, Tyrantrum, Hawlucha, Lycanroc, etc.)
-Venusaur (Earth Power and Weather Ball in place of the now extinct Hidden Power)
-Blastoise (Shell Smash, and then later Flip Turn to an lesser extent)
-Alakazam (Nasty Plot)
-Zapdos (STAB Hurricane)
-Gardevoir (Mystical Fire also in place of said Hidden Power)
-Salamence (STAB Dual Wingbeat and STAB Hurricane)

-Alomomola (Flip Turn and being one of the last Scald users left)
-Oricorio (Quiver Dance)
-Drednaw (Shell Smash)
-Regidrago (Earthquake and Earth Power)
-Shiftry (replacing Early Bird with Wind Rider)
-Torterra (Shell Smash and Headlong Rush, Loaded Dice Rock Blast being a bonus)
-Empoleon (Roost, Flip Turn, replacing Defiant with Competitive, all at the cost of Scald and Defog)
-Metagross (STAB Heavy Slam, STAB Psychic Fangs, Knock Off, Trailblaze, and to an lesser extent Stone Edge)
-Cinccino (Tidy Up + Loaded Dice)

For sure, I have plans of potentially covering Gen 5's Weather Meta (and How much I hated it), and also The Worst Mega Evolutions (The bad ones that were outclassed by the broken ones), in the future tho those are some of my ideas.
Dunno about you guys but I'd love to see more Pokemon content from HC. Love that you covered the Unova starters because even though they're my favourite starter trio I always thought they were done dirty when it comes to overall utility. Serperior having Contrary and Samurott gaining a Hisuian form that makes it part Dark type made them better though, so hopefully Emboar gets some kind of buff sooner or later.

Oh for sure, I was thinking of doing Gen 6 actually because the starters in Gen 6 are heavily outclassed by Greninja.

Gen 5 mid stage starters are certainly awesome.
The Gen 5 starters were always in a weird spot.
Serperior is a Contrary Leaf Storm spammer but you can't get the Hidden Ability in the original game so you're stuck with a painfully average Grass type who has a rough time throughout the entire game.
Meanwhile Emboar is an mixed attack + HP tank for some reason? Reckless as a Hidden Ability doesn't help it at all. At least Infernape has a decent speed stat to be a mixed attacker. Still I would have preferred if both of them were dedicated physical attackers with decent bulk. Fire/Fighting for Emboar is fine just for the neutral damage to Rock moves.
Samurott is another mixed attacker with middling speed and bulk because GameFreak just can't help themselves. Samurott gaining Fighting type would be nice to contrast the Hisuian form. Although Shell Smash would solve all of its problems honestly because Shell Smash and Quiver Dance are well designed moves. I'd still want it to gain Sharpness as an ability.
Pre-video thoughts
Why isn't samurott water/fighting as a samurai, it would just make so much sense. I personally don't think a dragon starter would work since becoming a dragon gets rid of the fire/water/grass super effective match-up, unless you also give another pokemon in the trio a type like ice. I think emboar could've been a great pure fire type.

Another reason why Emboar isn’t a good tank is that both their defenses are EVEN LOWER than Infernape. How can a Pokemon meant to embody a charge and bulky be so paper thin?
Also I would change around the stats for the HP and Attack. Giving him more HP makes him appear better as a bulky Pokemon. I would also make Emboar a part Dark since it fits the pig demon it’s based on and has a reckless strategy. Also Fire/Dark is unique.

Personally I felt all three should've had Fighting as secondary type. Would put them on a sort of a level playing field and fit them being based on warriors/warlords/aristocrats from around the world (China, Japan, and Western Europe). Dragon type grass snake works really well, though, and I quite like the idea of partially Dragon type starters (Sceptile should've also had the Dragon type without Mega Evolution, and of course we all know how deserving Charizard has always been of the type). Starter trios are never balanced anyway, so why hold back from the Dragon type in any starters ever, specifically?
I think that Dewott is a case of a design much better than the two stages it's sandwiched between. I feel the same about Bayleef, Croconaw, Combusken, and Quilava - I can't even find anything specific I like about Quilava that's changed in Typhlosion, I just always like the former and dislike the latter.

I was never much of a fan of them. Kid me hated emboar, still think it should've been fire dark. On appearance.
The three starters are still super American- we love bacon, we love otters, some of us own snakes- but all three of theor designs aren't based on american traditions at all, instead being on three eastern parts of the world. I still like Samuraott and the uhhhhh giant snake, but I guess I just don't like emboar in the end.
Idk, gen 5 doesn't have bad pokemon designs but for some reason I was just never sold that it was America except for the red white and blue eagle, and even then the normal just seems wrong.
I *almost* want to attempt to make pokemon based off of what feels american and what we encounter here. But I also don't want to. At all. 💀
