  • We can all agree there are way too many Omega Speedmasters out there. However, the age old question of which one is right for you can be tough to answer and you can go a life time without finding the right fit. Today, we compare my 3 favorite speedies. The professional vs. the reduced/automatic vs. the 1957 reissue special edition. Watch to the end because the answer has a twist.

    As an owner of the Reduced, I thank you for the review. I wear it on a Nato, on a rubber strap in summers, on a leather band if I have to be formal, and on its original bracelet if I don't. It packs a lot of a watch in its small case. It is an eye-picker and a story-teller. What more to love? This piece will surely stay in my collection. I had to service it once, after I had bought it aftermarket, and the price tag for the service was not pleasant but... It has been so good after that.

    That’s really a tough one… I have quite a large wrist and I like big watches, so I’m not afraid by the size of the Speedmaster Professional. However, I just can’t stand manual winding, I just have too much ADHD to remember to wind it regularly. I come from a digital background, so I really need a watch that will keep working as long as I’m wearing it. That’s why I tend to prefer Automatic watches… but the Reduced is smaller, I just wish they would have a Professional that looks just like it does now, but with an automatic movement… that’s it, that would be perfect for me. I’m afraid that if I buy a Reduced, I will always think that I didn’t got the big brother watch.

    Great video. The Speedmaster Reduced was my first "luxury" watch, bought 20 years ago at the AD. I was young and the nice sales guy must have shown the watch a dozen times before it could afford it. It was the right size, almost 17cm wrist, and budget options at the time. I built a great collection after that but kept trying the professional moonwatch over the years and it felt bulky with those protruding end-links. Not the 3861, it is spot on. I have a sapphire version on hold at the AD but can't seem to take the plunge. Is it a step forward or backward? Is it going to be reminiscent of getting the reduced 20 years ago, or a renovated experience? Is this the goldilocks Speedmaster? Anyway, watch enthusiast intricacies. Cheers watch gang.

    Keep ‘em all! Great video again. I knew about Marui but not the Mitsukoshi dial, very interesting! Now looking at the bracelet of 1861 it’s definitely less sophisticated than the one with 3861.
    With the reduced, have you had to bring it over to Nesbit and get it serviced? I’m curious if it’d cost more than professional.
    Cheers!

    Hi Max,
    As a first watch purchase would you recommend the Speedmaster reduced or the Black Bay 36 where the BB would be brand new and the reduced from the used market?
    They cost roughly the same where the BB 36 probably is around $ 400 more.
    Appreciate your thoughts!

      @@WatchCrunchOfficial Yes I think it looks pretty cool tbh! But my dream watch has always been a speedmaster, so will probably land in the collection at some point in my life. However at the moment unattainable.

    great review. thank you.
    all 3 pieces are beautiful. but if i had to choose?. it would be the MoonWatch. love everything about it. but find the bracelet a little too loose. as if it were worn for many years (like the old rolex bracelets). saggy and flimsy !!. or did OMEGA purposely design it this way to prevent pinching the skin and pulling hair ???. really wondering about that.

  • @brucemcintosh8260
    @brucemcintosh8260 3 года назад +1

    YOU GOT IT! That Broad Arrow is Sweet! I own this too & it is THEE Best Speedmaster out there. That New Co-Axial is O.K. but Omega Ruined the Dial by Dumbing it Down to less hash-marks per-second! I have the Old-Style Bracelet, which is tapered to 16mm & has the old friction lock & it has NEVER Failed me. That bracelet is very Unique because the contours are The Same outside & in. You can buy re-makes of the old style Omega CK2915 FlatLink bracelets from A Kat called UNCLE SEIKO. I have a couple & they are nice & light for this watch. That Broad Arrow dial is SOOOO Sexy & it doesn't have that Stupid Fautina that Omega has become so Enamoured of. I also have the reduced Auto, the Sapphire Version & i'm KEEPING them Both.

    For someone that has small wrists like me i would choose the reduced. I like the pro better but sadly it doesn't fit me that great. I also love the look of the bracelet on the reduced. Although the movement is not great. I sold my 1861 professional last year and bought a 38mm co-axial instead.
