For the past 20 years I have worn this watch each day every day. People will ask me about it, either they know what it is and want to take look at it or are curious about it. I highly recommend it, a classic, never goes out of style.
Im looking at buying a speedmaster possibly as a first luxury watch. Would you recommend going with the hesalite or sapphire crystal model? Everyone seems to have different opinions so just curious what you have been wearing
@@PTR2K the Sapphire Sandwich version allows you to see the movement. The Hesalite version is what was worn on the moon but scratches more easily. Try on both in person to make your decision.
Teddy, this was forever my dream watch. The looks are just insane to me. My wife gave it to me (sapphire version) to commemorate our first child. It’s been almost a year since our baby was born. Every time I look at this watch asides from an incredible reminder in our lives, it also takes my breath away. I still love it. Great video.

My wife bought me a Breitling Navitimer for my Birthday. Thought it was a wonderful gift until I checked my credit card and realized she bought the watch with MY money. Needless to say, wife is gone but the Navitimer lives on.
Just bought and received it 30 minutes ago. A great work folks. Was my first luxury watch, can’t be more excited 😌 I wish everyone to get one, a great piece of time, love it already
My Dad left me his 67 Speedy (321 cal.). Wear it everyday. Never goes out of style. Have the original receipt from Savits Jewellers in Hartford Conn ( $175).
Great watch! I have a 68 speedy that was my Dad's, and I have the receipt and box from the day he bought it from Sayerville Jeweler's in Sayreville, NJ on Dec. 26th, 1968, same price $175 was on the receipt!
I was a kid when they first walked on the moon. Those full page/full color Omega ads in LIFE magazine had a profound impact on my young self. Not quite the impact of Raquel Welch taking an outdoor shower in 100 Guns, but still.....
For as long as I've been into watch collecting, I've wanted to get a Speedmaster. I probably tried it on 4 different times at various AD's to try to enjoy it, but the bracelet and wearability just did not do it for me. A couple of weeks ago I went in to try this new 3861 on, and if anyone here has one or has tried it on, it is a VAST improvement in wearability. The METAS certification on the 3861 and bracelet update finally put the nail in the coffin and I pulled the trigger yesterday and am now the proud owner of my first Speedmaster, in the Sapphire Sandwich variant. I love this thing
Same here tried in a few times for so many years, but happened to looked at it while on my vacation, new movement, Co - Axial Master Chronometer, METAS Certification 15,000 gauss Anti Magnetic. Took it home. Very accurate with a Deviation of Chronometric Precision between 100% and 33% of Power Reserve = 0.1 seconds per day. Best Vacation, even took a swim with it. LOL
Despite my high level of debt due to my gambling addiction, I went out and got one of these. I’m here to tell you, NO REGRETS! This thing truly is a piece of art. No one is taking this away from me!
I've owned my Speedmaster for over 25 years and only recently had it overhauled by a highly skilled watchmaker for $400. Looks better and runs better than when I bought it. Worth more than when I bought it. Thanks Omega for making such a great watch! Still hoping THE first moon watch lost in the mail will find its way to my mailbox in TX.

Brilliant watch. If I were to make changes to the previous model, these are the changes I could make. I love that Omega decided to 'evolve' the watch rather than completely overhaul it. The stepped dial, bolder hands and tapered bracelet took an iconic watch and made it better. The 3861 movement modernized it for the 21st century. If I could only have one watch, this would be it.

Never cared for the Speedy in the past. Tried the new sapphire sandwich a month back and been thinking about it ever since. Wears really well and the new bracelet and clasp are fantastic.

Well, Omega X Swatch succeeded with me. I never really paid any attention to Omega. The Moonswatch Speedmaster arrived and cought my attention. Never got one, but it pulled all my attention to the Speedmaster Professional. Been shopping for that one great watch for my 50th. The Hesalite Professional will be it. Nice work Omega!!!
Same here! I bought one Omega a while ago and it was a Seamaster, and just because it was a limited edition. After the Omega X Swatch I am starting to pay attention to the Moonwatch and may even buy one now . People were wondering why Omega would allow this collaboration... now I am starting to think it's because they knew some Omega X Swatch buyers would end wanting the real thing too so they could have both.
You will love it !🙂 I love my hesalite it feels like great on the wrist and the dome profile makes it really lovely. Btw you can put those new super thin 0.1mm self healing TPU film on the hesalite, it's virtually invisible to the naked eye and doesn't affect the opacity at all. Super cheap and easy too. Best regards
Had a Hesalite since January. Owned many variants over the years. The new one is the best looking, most comfortable and most accurate of any I’ve had experience with.
I've owned the 42mm Speedmaster hesalite for nearly a year. To me this is a watch of a lifetime. I wear it almost every day, more than any other in my collection. Staying as true as possible to the original moon watch was a key factor in choosing the hesalite version.
I bought this for myself recently. It is my first chronograph... and I absolutely love every part of this piece. I got the sapphire sandwich because I like the luxurious look, plus I love to look at the movement as it's a gorgeous movement. I know it's still new, as the watch is weeks not months old, but it's by far my most worn watch right now. I love it. I love the overall look and the balance between brushed and polished finishing. I couldn't recommend this watch highly enough
I just got my SS on bracelet on 10.7.23 and I am very pleased with it. I have wanted a "Moonwatch" since the 70's and it looks like my timing is excellent. The 3861 with all its technical / mechanical advancements is amazing. The new 5 link melt on your wrist bracelet with the recently introduced on the fly micro length adjustment. The new stepped dial, lume, domed hands, dot over 90, etc... is close to perfection. I chose the SS because of the durability and the open case back. I love to look at the movement. I am very pleased. It set me back USD 8,000 and is a tremendous value. Oh, yeah did I say it is beautiful. A classy, humble beautiful.
Teddy, you are so good in staying objective even when talking about watches that you don’t sell. And what is more important, when talking about watches you sell.
My wife gifted one of these (Sapphire) for my birthday this year - absolutely phenomenal watch. Love the new movement and design. Only critique would be to add additional micro adjustments. Awesome watch!
Thanks for the wrist shot! I have basically an identical wrist measurement, 6.25 inches, 160 cm, 50 mm across, and I was really apprehensive about pulling the trigger on this watch because I was worried about the size.
I love the vintage look of hesalite but I replaced mine with the sapphire sandwich. So happy with my decision. The sapphire case back is absolutely stunning 👍
Bought the Saphire version recently after debating on whether to wait for a black Sub. No looking back. Very pleased with this, timeless look that can be worn to work or casual. Thanks for the vid and a shout out to all hardworking fathers and their fathers. You deserve this.
My wife just got me the sapphire sandwich for our 25 wedding anniversary. Only had for a week now but I am completely satisfied with it. I have been collecting watches for a few years now and this was my unicorn. I have several watches in my collection but this is my first true luxury watch.
I’ve had my Speedy Pro for about 32 years, it’s the 20th anniversary edition of the moon landing. It’s S/N 661 of 2000. I couldn’t believe it when my wife gave me the ok to get it back in 1990. Great wife! Recently had it serviced and it runs perfectly. I’d recommend this watch to anyone who appreciates a great and timeless timepiece. I like the Hesalite with the Omega in the middle.
The Omega Seamaster was my first true higher end watch quite a few years ago sending me down the wonderful rabbit hole of well crafted watches , the Speedmaster has been on the radar to long ….. it’s time :)
Since I had already gotten my taste influenced and acquired by various media and fallen in love with my 3861, I wasn’t going to get influenced again by the watch communities about which version is more correct and looks better. I’d like to tell any potential buyers to also look at Speedy as a watch by itself minus hypes and the history.
Took some time to examine both hesalite and sapphire against each other in an AD. Once I saw the milky perimeter around the dial which the sapphire gives, I couldn’t un-see it. Hesalite all the way for me. I like the co-axial upgrade. Thanks for the video.
As someone who wears the 1861 I can say these watches are not nearly as delicate as some think they are. Polywatch can easily take care of scuffs on the hesalite and I straight run it under the sink to wash it off. It has held up well over time with no issues whatsoever
When i was 14 years old my grandfather bought it for me....I left it on a plane a year later while I was timing developing a picture taken with my polaroid camera. I was devastated.... My mother bought me another one for my eighteenth birthday in 1978. I am wearing it right now. Its a beautiful and ageless watch. looks as good today as 40 odd yearas ago...
Gilberto, my dad and his friends were either Omega or Rolex wearers. My dad gave me his Rolex Day Just at my 18th birthday the same year as you, but one his friends had the Moonwatch and since I kept eyeing it, he told the story..Time passed and a month ago and 43 years later, I have my "astronaut" as it were😊...QUITE HAPPY with it!
I have owned my speedy from 2010 (hesalite) the front still looks new, like mentioned polywatch will rid marks, but I have never ever felt "I wish omega would make a different movement" it runs great with the 1861 cal inside never had an issue, for me Omega did the change just to increase the cost of buying the watch, nothing worse for a company having a fantastic cheap watch in its collection.
I tried both 42mm versions on my 7” wrist today and also a 38mm too. I was really surprised how well the 42mm fitted on my relatively small wrist. The bracelet is super comfortable too. I’d probably go with the sapphire crystal over the hessalite as it makes the watch .5mm thinner plus you get to see the stunning movement through the back. At £7,400 it’s getting quite expensive here in the U.K. but I’m now officially in love with it so………
@@mrsentencename7334 It’s a very good question. Omega have bumped their prices a lot over the last couple of years here in the U.K. I guess they would argue that the current Speedy is a technically better watch than it’s predecessor so…… For the record, I went hesalite in the end and very pleased with my choice. Got some discount too.
Going with the sapphire because of the scratch resistance and the display back. Tough decision, though. I do like the vintage look of the Hesalite and somewhat prefer the all-bushed bracelet and (of course) the lower price of the other one. The fact that it has a new movement and a different crystal material than the one that was actually on the moon does not weigh very heavily for me... I prefer the upgrades.
Same here. The hesalite on my old Rolex already broke once. For classic appeal I would rather buy an old Omega. The hesalite alone does not do it for me.
I've just bought the sapphire version on Nov. 2023 with the new micro adjustment clasp. However, the clasp has only one step. I think it's good enough to use when swapping from left hand to right hand. Previously, I've compared it with other fine competitors in the near price range for a few weeks, e.g. Chronoscope, Chronomat, Navitimer, Monaco, Carrera, Portugieser, and Black Bay. Finally I've found that the Speedmaster is the best choice for me, and manual winding every other day in the morning is not an issue.
Hesalite for sure - love the vintage look, understated and business-like with just a hint of flair! I remember the Apollo missions from my childhood and have always been enamored with that era. I'm not a collector - I simply want that one 'forever' watch that I can wear most of the time and feel great about. My dad had his Rolex; I'm planning on having my Speedmaster. :-)

Let's not forget that one of the watches George Daniels retrofitted with a coaxial escapement back when he was trying to sell it to watch manufacturers, was an cal. 861 speedmaster, so it seems fitting Omega finally made a production version of that very prototype.
I had an 1861 hesalite for a while that I just recently traded in. I really like the hesalite but wish it had a sapphire case back as that 3863 movement is stunning. I held the new hesalite version at a boutique and the step dial and the less busy outer track were definite improvements for me. I will probably pick up a new version at some point in the future.
In the late80s through early 2000s-ish they made a version with a hesalite crystal and sapphire caseback. Those are freaking cool, worth checking out. I think a nice one with box/papers only runs like $4500. Pretty sure there are tritium and luminova versions too. Only going to go up in value I think. I think they are ref 3592.50 with the gold (!!) finished 861 movement and 3572.50 with the 1861 movement
My father bought his new while in the US Air Force in 1976. He gave it to me when he retired in 1992 as my high school graduation gift; also in 1992. I've been wearing it continuously since then; only four people in all that time have recognized what it was. It's sentimental as it has a slight nick in the tachymetre scale where he whacked it on his aircraft during preflight inspection. I'm still using the original 1171/633 bracelet that came with it. It was last at Omega for servicing in 1996. I was going to send it in for servicing in early 2020; then Covid hit. Good thing, as back then there was a 6 month turn around time for servicing. I'd hate to see what their service turnaround time is today. One pin on the bracelet broke in January 2020; luckily there is an Omega store in Scottsdale AZ and they replaced the pin at no charge. Amazing watch; just keeps on ticking.
I tried on both at my local AD. Definitely prefer the Hesalite version. It just feels more vintage. Not to mention, the only one of the two that remains flight certified. 💪🏻
@@shuycg as crazy as it sounds some of us may literally end up in space. Now if this watch is a family heirloom the next generation will most definitely end up in commercial space travel. Keep that in mind.
@@utcougar really? Do you think our kids will travel in space commercially? To what? The Moon? I really hope not. At least not on fossil fuels. It will be a gimmick for the richer for the first few decades anyway.
I wouldn’t count it out. Technology is moving along at a speed that in 4-5 decades we could easily be doing something in space. 6-8 decades and even more. I’m 40. If i hypothetically have a child next year then he/she will be 50 in 5 decades and if they have a child then we’re into the 22nd century. So a grandchild could easily be in space with computer chips plugged in their asses. Who knows what the world will be like. Our grandchildren could have an old school omega on his wrist a light saber up his ass and watch television inside his own head through Bluetooth
I’m so glad I got this latest edition in sapphire the year before it increased by 1000 (GBP) pounds. I’ve enjoyed this watch for a few years and its only depreciated 400 (GBP) pounds. This watch looks good in all occasions from formal shirt, to a black leather jacket, or even a hoodie. I don’t find the chronograph useful and don’t use it. A dive bezel I would use a lot, but the chronograph looks so nice and as a race fan/former racer I do appreciate the functions now and again. It’s one of the prettiest sport watches and the new bracelet made me pull the trigger and has been a game changer. Just needs on the fly adjust which I believe it now has. Great content as always Teddy. Thank you. ❤ ⌚️
I own a 3590.50 with the old (fantastic) tapering 1479 bracelet, and this is the first Speedy since then that I think is a compelling enough upgrade in technology without downgrading wearability like the last gen bracelet did. Makes me want to pick one up. Only thing I could ask for is 1-2 more micro adjustment slots on the clasp and some tritium lume (I know, just a dream) so I can watch it patina over the coming decades.
I've had a FOIS and the previous generation Speedy Pro and this is the next watch I plan on buying. The bracelet just really completes the look of the Speedy and the new step dial is noticeable in person.
I have 3 Rolexes and was trying to get my 4th but was being fobbed off by my AD., I am sure they are flipping the watches despite already spending on 2 pieces. I went to the Omega boutique and bought this and fell in love with this straight away. I have the Sapphire Crystal version and the bracelet is so comfortable. So Omega is now my go to watch piece and Rolex and the AD have lost a customer, the current situation with Rolex is unethical, try this watch, if you are considering or waiting for a Rolex 👍🏻
Love the new one. I had the 1861 Hesalite version which I belive was the best choice in that series because the sapphire had a horrible luminescent ring around the edge. But I never quite settled in with the Hesalite version and was very nervous of scratching it. The 3861 version is completely different, they've improved the Sapphire dramatically and its a pity Teddy never discussed this point. No more strange luminescent ring. I'm definitely going Sapphire sandwich this time, its far more practical for daily wearing and the polished bracelet looks amazing, plus I love looking at that movement!
@@JP-lf6zl Strange seeing them next to eachother there clearly is a ring next to the bezel on the sandwich. You must have a "gremlin" that doesnt have it.😉
The only reason I have ever wanted a Rolex was because I wanted the comfort of a jubilee bracelet. This new bracelet got rid of those thoughts, the bracelet is flawless.
I have since 1999 a Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow. It has date @ 18.00 (six o`clock). Perfect watch which I almost wear daily. Had it serviced Jan 2022 for € 750.
I've always had been drawn to the Speedmaster through its combination of elegant simplicity and its historical ties to NASA space missions. Once I had the opportunity to pick one up, I was not disappointed. Love the way it looks and feels on wrist. Lovely understated and comfortable design aesthetics.

Just bought the sapphire with the leather strap in Changi Airport in Singapore. I initially went into the store looking for a Constellation because of the emotional connection to my dad, but this watch spoke to me. No regrets. I have a special Chopard that I keep in a safe that I don't think I can use everyday, but I think this Omega can be interchangeable with my Apple Watch
Own the Hesalite version for two reasons, wanted the authenticity of the original, and secondly because the sapphire distorts the watch face around the perimeter. The sales guy at Omega was kind enough to show me the difference and the Hesalite definitively showed better.
I love my hesalite 3590.50. But it does hold me back from making it a 24/7 beater, big gashes in the hesalite are annoying to look through. Hairline hesalite scratches don't bother me and neither do case dings. These new ones make me wonder if a modern sapphire version with the new and more robust movement could be just bullet proof enough to be the perfect rough wearing companion to it
Got the sapphire model a few weeks ago to replace my first generation sapphire sandwich with 1863 movement. The two watches may look alike but the new one is, for me, significantly better. The 1863 always ran too fast for my taste but the new Speedy with the outstanding Co-Axial Master movement is running at 1 second fast per day with it being wound every other day. Omega finally added hacking to the Speedy which was also a major selliing point. It makes setting the time a breeze. My watch came with the quick adjust clasp which, even with only a one stop +/- adjustment, makes it easy to do it on the fly. I wasn't totally sold on the bracelet at first because it made the watch look less like a "tool" instrument. But after wearing it for a while, I love it. It lays flat on the wrist which contributes to the watch wearing smaller than its 42mm size. I wear the Speedy as dress watch sometimes and the bracelet gives it more of a clsssy look. All in all Omega hit the jackpot with the new version of this clsssic watch.
I'd convinced myself that when the day comes (and it's coming) that I'd go for the sapphire. But after this, now I'm thinking the hesalite has a better vibe (HATE polished center links). You may have just saved me $800+. Thanks, Teddy!
J.J. H Picked up Sandwich yesterday. Boutique was more than willing to switch the bracelets to brushed model. (No charge) Hopefully that will hell is your lean was toward the Sandwich. Ended up keeping the polished links and it can be dressed up or down.
The Speedmaster Moon Watch is an absolute timeless legend... to quote the Patek mantra.. "You don't own a Speedmaster...You are just the custodian for the next generation" considering my third.. (yes, we have three sons)
I can confirm at least from my few days of having the Sapphire version that the "Sharpness" is WAYYYY over played. I don't have context on what they felt like before, but if this "rumor" wasn't around before I wouldn't have even thought to comment on it. 0 wrist dig on my ~6.5in wrist
Same here. I have worn the hesalite for the best part of 2 months on my 7in wrist, and have nothing negative to report. The watch wears very comfortably.
My experience is that the edges are very sharp. If you compare it to the old speedy and even a Reduced, it is quite sharp. However, having said that, you dont feel it it at all when you have it on your wrist. It is only if you take it off and purposefully run your finger over it, do you feel it. It is not dangerously sharp, but its there.
Surprised the biggest visual differences of the sapphire and hesalite isn't mentioned, the milky ring on the former. It's definitely a factor to be taken into account, especially when placed side by side.
Love this watch! Would definitely go Sapphire as I like the stress free experience regarding the crystal. Have to see this beautiful new movement as well
This is possibly the most iconic watch in history of mankind. It brings in one everything we are all about. Starting from the human ability to measure and understand time, through the perfection of design, art, engineering and manufacturing, all the way to the crown jewel of science and human achievements - the first human to step on the celestial body other than Earth - the Moon. There are thousands of watches and watchmakers, but Omega Speedmaster Professional is one and only!
Very well put! And it's a watch worn from blue collar workers all the way to business tycoons and royalties. It's a watch that's neither cheap nor too expensive, but just pure class.
Picked up the hesalite today from nyc boutique. Tried the saphire on also and the choice was easy after watching the light hit the hesalite the choice was easy. This is my first luxury watch purchase and i keep looking at it and smiling.
Nice to have a clearly explained update on this model. I bought mine in 1974. The bracelet was OK, just, but over time the clasp became too easily undone and there was no way to adjust the grip on the wrist either. My biggest gripe about the bracelet is the spring bars holding it to the case. These are just too flimsy for such an expensive item. If they fail, then the watch is off your wrist in an instant and maybe permanently lost. Eventually I drilled out the case and fitted solid stainless bars and sewed on some velcro. Much more secure, comfortable and adjustable! Thanks for the interesting overview and escapement details.
Just bought the hesalite today and I was kind of doubting the purchase at first but after wearing it all day I can say I ABSOLUTELY love this watch!! Great video Teddy it really helped give me confidence in this purchase as it was my first luxury watch and first chronograph! Wondering how many people have picked hesalite vs the sapphire?
I purchased the hesalite version, no regrets. I love the bracelet and watch weight is perfect. It’s funny how a manual wind watch is a novelty after only considering automatic watches for years. I need to thank Rolex for not selling me a Submariner.
Just got my sapphire sandwich 3861 2 days ago straight from omega. My dream watch. And boy..I couldn't be any happier, wore it today and it makes me feel good!! The packaging was amazing, paid $8300 after taxes.
Owned a couple Speedy Pros in the past, love Omega and I love early Space Race so the Speedy is a win for me. I picked up a FOIS though in December and for me, it's the perfect Speedy. I absolutely love the straight lugs, no crown guard, etc. With that said, I can definitely see myself adding the hesalite 3861 Speedy down the road. Redundant? Yes, but my FOIS will likely go to my 3rd child coming in December 2021. Wore a different watch for the birth of my first 2 kids, so only fair the 3rd (and last!) gets a nice watch passed down too ;) So the Speedy 3861 will be mine to take to the grave!
Call me shallow, but the applied logo, that extra bit of polished finish on the bracelet, and the anti-scratch nature of the sapphire version is the clear winner for me.
I just got mine (with a discount) hesalite, and it's absolutely amazing. Omega really hit this one out of the ballpark. It wears like a 39mm watch, it's fairly light and the bracelet is just perfect, it's chronograph operation is super smooth and you'd never know it wasn't a column wheel and vertical clutch design. The accuracy has been fine, +3/24h for me, which seems to be getting better. Quite possibly the best watch Omega has made. Extremely comfortable and the hesalite has a very vintage anti-bling look to it. No regrets on this one, just perfect.
I'm not sure how many people who regurgitate the phrase that a column wheel and vertical clutch chronograph has a smoother and more refined pusher feel than a cam shuttle and lateral clutch chronograph across the board have actually even personally handled both types of chronographs to come to the conclusion themselves. I can only compare two mechanical chronographs, the 3861 Speedmaster and a Rolex 116520, but between those two the Speedy has the better pusher feel, or perhaps they are comparing a 7750 with something a lot more expensive.
Not to get to nerdy but the new movement is far superior and offers the dot above 90! That detail alone is a reason an enthusiast would buy one of these. Especially the hesalite crystal to keep true to the originals. However as someone who owns the 1861 hesalite, I might splurge for the sapphire. They look fantastic.
Pusists will disagree, but when paying top dollar for a watch I would rather be more practical than nostalgic. I will definitely buy the sapphire one. And it still has the great advantage of showing the beautiful movement through the caseback. A spectacular watch. Timeless, classic and to pass on to the next generation. Great video, Teddy, as usual.
Owned both a plexi rolex and many sapphire watches, no real difference. With the plexi/hesalite you can scratch it yes, but it buffs out fine and replacing the hesalite can be done by any watchmaker for peanuts if it ever becomes too badly scratched. Actually never had any bad scratches after years of wearing the plexi Rolex. I have seen many sapphire watches on forums that were dropped/hit and the crystal shattered, requiring a very expensive full service to get the glass splinters out + a very expensive new sapphire crystal. Display caseback is nice if you care about that (I don't personally) and don't mind the sticky feeling of sweaty glass on skin (I do, therefore I don't buy display back watches). So hesalite is not only for purists, that said even purists are completely okay with the sapphire version.
Currently still working and hoping to retire soon after 44 years and buy the Speedy as a reward for my time in telecommunications

For the past 20 years I have worn this watch each day every day. People will ask me about it, either they know what it is and want to take look at it or are curious about it. I highly recommend it, a classic, never goes out of style.
I love seeing someone who buys a watch and wears it like it should be worn. That watch has some stories I'm sure. Well done.
The best daily on the market!
@@mikemush9741 I have the same philosophy. A watch is meant to be worn not put in a safe nor to be an investment.
Im looking at buying a speedmaster possibly as a first luxury watch. Would you recommend going with the hesalite or sapphire crystal model? Everyone seems to have different opinions so just curious what you have been wearing

Teddy, this was forever my dream watch. The looks are just insane to me. My wife gave it to me (sapphire version) to commemorate our first child. It’s been almost a year since our baby was born.
I was disappointed to see that there was till no quick adjust on the bracelet. I am glad you enjoy your purchase though.
Ive been looking around for a speedy myself. I have not tried one on yet either. What about the wearability didn't you like?
Just dont take it with you to poker night 8)

That watch is now mine 😂😂
Put it on red

I’ve had mine for about a week and I haven’t taken it off. I already think this is the best watch I have owned.
The new one has a micro adjustment.
Thanks for the wrist shot! I have basically an identical wrist measurement, 6.25 inches, 160 cm, 50 mm across, and I was really apprehensive about pulling the trigger on this watch because I was worried about the size.
The Moonwatch is a classic. Timeless. I can't believe it's $6300 now. I paid $3500 for mine many, many years ago...

Just ordered the sapphire primary because that subtle polished links on bracelet are dope! They make the watch ever so slightly dressy. Amazing.
Bought one yesterday for the first anniversary of my son. Huge accomplishment for me. One day it will be his watch
Moonlight perimeter, not milky perimeter. Just sounds better for this classy Moonwatch. Lol
I recently purchased this timepiece and so far it’s a great addition to my collection.
Generally not a fan of chronographs but this is one I can absolutely get behind. Iconic and impeccable design, a true looker
At £7,400 it’s getting quite expensive here in the U.K. but I’m now officially in love with it so………
why is it getting that expensive
@@mrsentencename7334 It’s a very good question. Omega have bumped their prices a lot over the last couple of years here in the U.K. I guess they would argue that the current Speedy is a technically better watch than it’s predecessor so……
For the record, I went hesalite in the end and very pleased with my choice. Got some discount too.
I just bought one last Wednesday, it’s sweet👌
For the Moonwatch, Hesalite it must be!

That’s a long time to go with no service. 5 - 7 years usually

Just got accepted into my first Mechanical Engineering job, and I instantly decided about buying the speedmaster in a few months time🤞🤞

It’s as if you read my mind! This watch is definitely on my radar! Great video!

Did you go with the sapphire or hexalite version?
@@wardog5537 Hesalite, myself.
Thanks for the comment about your personal experience. I found that too with my time with it and I have a tendency to wear my bracelets very tight.
Same here. I have worn the hesalite for the best part of 2 months on my 7in wrist, and have nothing negative to report. The watch wears very comfortably.
Sapphire sandwich on a 7.5 wrist; also haven't felt it on a nato, leather strap, or bracelet.
No matter how long are your videos I enjoyed them
Surprised the biggest visual differences of the sapphire and hesalite isn't mentioned, the milky ring on the former. It's definitely a factor to be taken into account, especially when placed side by side.
Just picked up the Sapphire version and I’m in love with it, my favorite watch the date.
For me I think I'd go with the hesalite version. Love the back on it
Picked up the hesalite today from nyc boutique. Tried the saphire on also and the choice was easy after watching the light hit the hesalite the choice was easy. This is my first luxury watch purchase and i keep looking at it and smiling.
My Speedy purchase is planned for my 70th birthday - so I have a few months to save up. 😊
Why didn't you service it?
@@markenlightenment7101 Hi, yes it has been serviced since and a new case was suggested, but I did not want that changed now that it has solid bars.
I picked hesalite for the toll watch looks.
Love the clarity and the dome shape.
Best regards
Picked up the Sapphire to enjoy the 3861. I wear everyday and love this watch.
I picked the Hesalite version and I absolutely love it.
I purchased the hesalite version, no regrets. I love the bracelet and watch weight is perfect. It’s funny how a manual wind watch is a novelty after only considering automatic watches for years. I need to thank Rolex for not selling me a Submariner.
New bracelet on 1861 = perfection
Just got this today! Bought Seamaster at a boutique at retail, but got this one from an AD for 15% off. Reddit saved me $$ this time.
Teddy, you wear that Speedmaster well. I hope it is part of your permanent collection.
Just got my sapphire sandwich 3861 2 days ago straight from omega. My dream watch. And boy..I couldn't be any happier, wore it today and it makes me feel good!! The packaging was amazing, paid $8300 after taxes.
Roy, you should have shopped around. I got one for $7086. Tax included! Ouch😮
@@phillip5376new retail or private party? Interested myself, thanks.
Love my speedy, bought it when my son was born and will pass it down to him one day.
It's very easy for me ; I like the hesalite variant .
Yes Hesalite all the way!
Are omega open to offering discounts? I’ve always bought Rolex which is never discounted so can I be cheeky with omega and ask for a discount!?
Any chance you want to share where you got that discount?
This iconic Omega is a grail watch for sure. Thank you for explaining the differences.
this one is on my list, probably gonna get it around summertime to add to the collection. it looks so good
I have the previous version with a leather strap and deployment buckle. I knew these were coming out, but I wanted the original. No regrets.
Thanks Teddy for the comprehensive review, you help me to got the hesalite one. Very well done 👏
I dig this watch, but what I really want is a Silver Snoopy. Unfortunately their values appear to have skyrocketed.
I just got the Speedmaster Alaska 2 project watch and love it. The snoopy is a goal of mine.
