Last thing I forgot to mention is that the caseback is NOT Naiad Lock, meaning it will not always line up vertically, but rather screwed down like standard case backs Anyways hope you enjoyed and reach out to my store www.caratco.com for your next Omega! And pls subscribe!

Totally agree. if this had an exhibition caseback, the different dial/hands/no crownguards make it a slightly more attractive option compared to moonwatch.
I’m all about the Pro case and handset but this immediately made my Speedy wishlist. The reason? That soleil dial is so gorgeous! And by far the cheapest way to get into a soleil dial. Both of which points seemed to have passed a lot of watch RUclipsrs by, so I appreciate your attention to detail here.
@@Jessikitty2020 Yes, I thought it was obvious I was talking about the chrono ones. I wished the chrono hands matched the hour and minute hands. Congrats on your new Omega
Got my FOIS last week after almost two month wait. Love the watch love its vintage aesthetic and the dial colour is gorgeous and it raises it to another level abd gives it a differential over othe speedys. The dome on the watch is like the Seamaster 300 heritage and missed point the omega logo etched on the crystal above the centre. The lugs are historically correct as they did no chamfer originally
Very thorough explanation and history of FOIS. Love everything about it and would get one if my wrist is a tad larger otherwise even the current moonwatch if just borderline wearable on my 6” wrist.
8:12 maybe I’m wrong but isn’t it the curving of the hands to help with the fitting of the new more rounded sapphire glass that replicates better the old style look of the hesalite glass?
I really love the dial face of the FOIS but the Hour/Minutes hands, as well as the "Seconds" subdial hand, almost disappears into the background depending on how the light hits it. If you look at 13:53 minute mark when you placed the two Speedmaster side by side, you can't really see the the hand on the "Seconds" subdial and the you have to squint to see the "Minute" hand. And the fact that the caseback is solid kinda hurts since I would love to see that beautiful movement. I kinda wish they keep the white hands of the Pro in FOIS and put in a clear caseback. Now I have a tough decision which one I want...
Perfect timing. Was looking for a review on those two. I already have the new white dial one so I was looking to get a black one as well. Pretty hard choice between the two. I might get the FOIS just because it’s a little different than just being a black dial vs the white.
Handled both of these yesterday. Wanted to like the FOIS, but honestly, the lugs on the Speedy pro make for a considerably better fit on my wrist (6.75 in). Went back and forth between the two over and over. The straight lugs on the FOIS just don't work for me.
I really like the FOIS but it does have some big flaws. The small seconds hand at 9 o’clock is polished, so when looking at it usually straight on, it looks like it’s missing. The same for the hour and minute hands they are barely visible when looking at different angles, with the lume only identifiers. Even in this video at some angles the small second hand is barely visible.
Water resistance, or lack thereof, was always a bug bear amongst Speedmaster enthusiasts. The new FOIS has even less water resistance compared to the Speedmaster, as a consequence of those pushers without crown guards.

Haven’t seen the FOIS in person but the fauxtina doesn’t fit the “classic” style of the speedy. But then again I am biased since I have the white dial speedy.
The only problem I see from this new FOIS is that the domed sapphire crystal reflects too much light unlike the H versions. They probably should have put more anti-glare perhaps on both sides instead of just inside. This FIOS glares like no body's business making it difficult to do what it's intended to do, see what time it is....
I would love an automatic version… with everything else the same, same dimension, same dial, etc… All automatic speedmaster I’ve seen so far have something different, different dial, or different size, etc… I know manual isn’t bad and it works, but I have huge memory problem and will for sure forget it to wind it up every other day. I used to have a great memory, sharp focus, but not anymore… unfortunately. I barely remember the beginning of my comment by the time I’m on the final sentence.
Omega watches have no Tfit and like GS wanting over $6000 dollars for their watches is insane. I refuse to buy a watch that the companies refuse to listen to their customers. I have Rolex watches and Tudor’s and at least Tudor is putting more of their tfit on them
I have the Speedmaster Professional Sapphire and I prefer the beautiful black dial and white indices and hands. I don’t know, but there’s something magical about a boring black dial and white accents combo. The new bracelet on the Speedmaster Professional looks also better than the flat link style bracelet and you can see the movement. I prefer the previous FOIS with the white indices and hands. Not a fan of the patina look.

I really like everything of new FOIS except the solid caseback

@@chia-mingyang5804 the only good part of the watch.

I could never buy a Speedmaster where I couldn't see that gorgeous movement
Nice review. Your attention to the details exceeds other reviews that I've watched. And your explanations are equally welcomed. Thank you
Great overview of two Iquonic and Timeless pieces... Thank you..
When you love them both, the only solution is to own them both...🙂

Sapphire sandwich moonwatch is still the one to go...
The new FOIS stark white Chrono hands with the patina lume looks off. Professional all the way!
They’re not white. They’re polished. Except for chrono, and two small ones. I’m wearing it.

The soleil dial with the fauxtina is absolutely stunning. Beautiful combination.
I am debating which one will be my 1st speed master. I’m leaning towards the professional because it has better legibility.
Your script is so well researched and entertaining!🎉

I got the white one on June 1, a hesalite one in August, and the FOIS November 1. Of the three the white one is my favorite.
Very informative, totally worth watching.

It’s different enough to justify both.
FOIS is absolutely gorgeous
Excellent presentation. Thanks 👍.
Do you think the domed sapphire will come to the regular ss moonwatch any time soon?
Some people say it has not good legibility, specially the minute hand.
Any input?
I heard the same
I have the older version, which has pretty much the same polished hands, against a black dial. Yeah, in certain lighting, legibility isn’t the best.
The FOIS is a solid alternative to the Ed White. Great release by Omega.

You are right, I tried both, and there is definitely a readability problem on the fois, the difference is obvious
I would love to get my hands on the New FOIS but unfortunately they seem to be almost as hard to come by as the Ed White…😢
Water resistance, or lack thereof, was always a bug bear amongst Speedmaster enthusiasts. The new FOIS has even less water resistance compared to the Speedmaster, as a consequence of those pushers without crown guards.
It really doesn't matter. Omega actually tests the watches for those depths, and 30m, let alone 150m, is deeper than most casual divers will go
@@Antenoxyep 50M is plenty deep👍
As long you don't push the chrono buttons you are okay.
You can get the bends even at depth of 30 metres
I’m sure crown guards have no impact on water resistance.
FOIS is my choice
would be an instant buy for me if the lug-to-lug is also 2mm shorter (45.5, down from 47.5)
what a shame
I’ll get the FOIS as I already have the new Mineral Crystal Speedmaster.
How many people will actually go to space? How many wear the watch to work and scratch it on the desk?
Great video, is the FOIS available at the store? Or is there a waitlist for it?
Not available at the moment, but you can reach out to our store directly via email sales@caratco.com
12:28 - “Minimal servicing intervals” would mean it needs to be serviced as often as possible.
lol it literally means what it means. Any Speedmaster owner can attest to that
FOIS vs Professional? Will you end up with both? or for about the same money go for one 321?
FOIS Straight lugs alpha hands the curved crystal and solid case back wears more comfortably than sapphire and the dial. Both.

It wears better due to the smaller case size, but it looks too self consciously retro. More like a Longines watch than an Omega one.

Thx man, will check with them!
The FOIS for me
FYI, you mispronounce Wally Shirra's name. The accent is on the "a" in Shirra, like sheer aaah
Wally flew the mission solo. Gordo was not onboard.
Thanks for the correction & that makes it more badass!
