The Best Entry-Level Speedmaster, Speedmaster Racing: Better Than the Reduced?

- Now no one is going to debate the Speedmaster, outside the submariner, is probably the most iconic watch of all time, a classification that certainly has been earned.
And even if it not your style, there are plenty and I mean plenty, perhaps even to a fault, versions of the Speedmaster. ere are plenty and I mean plenty, perhaps even to a fault, versions of the Speedmaster. And when it comes to where many have their eyes set, the Speedmaster professional is obviously the choice, but for those with either limited funds or smaller wrists, the longtime favorite that is suggested frequently is the Speedmaster reduced. But in this video, we look at another entry-level Speedmaster model that I think is superior, the Speedmaster Racing.

Thanks for watching guys! What are your thoughts on these 40 mm Speedmaster Racing models? I have seen them trading secondhand for around the same price as the Speedmaster Reduced which makes me believe they are strong contenders for the price.
Hi
I’m loving the vids teddy this one was quite informative and I enjoyed learning more about omega
Great video! You should do one on the Omega Dynamic III from the late 1990s! Great chrono at 38mm.
Great idea!
@@TeddyBaldassarre I feel like its one of Omega's forgotten watches! So few people of heard of it partially because of the only ~3 year run.
All watch enthusiasts:
"50 meter rating - naw that's not good enough for me to swim in my 5ft deep backyard pool"
"100 meter rating - I'll wash my hands in the sink with my watch on, but I would never wear it in the shower."
"150 meter rating - I feel comfortable taking a shower with my watch on but I'd never go swimming with it."
"200 meter rating - I'll like walk around and stuff in my pool with my watch on my wrist..but I won't like splash around and go crazy ya know?"
"300 meter rating - Omg seriously? it doesn't even have a helium valve...I don't know what helium is, or what it does, I've never been diving and likely never will ever in my entire life...but jesus they could have at least put a helium valve so that my watch doesn't explode. I wouldn't even feel comfortable swimming at the beach with this thing"
Normal people who buy $12 china watches with no rating:
"I've had this $12 watch for 3 years. I've gone swimming dozens of times, jet skiing, snorkeling, cliff jumping, and everything in between. Never had any problems."
Do you ya'll know how water works? ....I mean for real...in the year 3000 everyone is still gonna be like "10,000 meter rating!!?!??!? What a piece of crap...I can't even drop this thing in the Marianas trench."
THERE IS NO GOOD ARGUMENT for this nonsense. You people are daft.
Trump Debate Live you understood the whole watch community xd
One time I was reading the comments on a review of a speedy reduced, and one guy commented that the water resistance was definitely a deal breaker for him because he sometimes forgets to take off his watch while washing the dishes. LOL! So you need a dive watch now in case you leave your watch on while washing the dishes?! Hahaha.
@@user-dr7tb4xf4o - hahaha! hilarious. what a goofball that guy was.
Perfectly right. There was an article on Watchuseek as well as a few ones on Hodinkee debunking the entire mess that many people unfortunately still believe. I've swam in the sea (what's on with that "swimming pool" nonsense? Go swim in the sea, if possible!) with a Seiko 5 (both a 30m and a 50m rated model), a Vostok Komandirskie (2 atm rated) and also a diver, a G-Shock and a 10-bar chrono (OK, this one was in a pool for like 10 min). ALL of these were fine; the Vostok had water getting inside not because of a failure, but because I wanted to "wash the part where the crown screws in". Yes, people do stupid things at times.
The overbearing over-caution of certain people is just annoying !
Yup, the only real distinction I'd make is between 'water resistant 200m and 'divers 200m'. The former is the manufacturers recommendation, the latter means it actually adheres to ISO dive rating which requires so much more robust design than simply water resistance. Yet people seldom make the distinction.
Teddy, thank you. If it wasn't for your video, this reference would not have even been on my radar. Now, it is on my wrist as I type this. It is absolutely beautiful, the textured sub-dials make an incredible impact (especially under the loupe!), and its overall character is luxurious but understated. I am deeply satisfied with this gorgeous new addition to my collection, and will forever associate it with your video. Thank you.
Which trim off of the series did you purchase?
I'm stuck between the red dial and the gray dial.
@@QuasarPolaris I have the white and blue variations.
@@icychap Hi, I am close to pulling the trigger on this watch as well. I'm just a little nervous on how it will sit on my 6.25" relatively small wrist. Any info on your experience will help, thanks!
@@zeddsquared7559 I have an approx 6.75" (172 mm) wrist, and it works very well for me. The lug-to-lug is not large and it wears smaller than its case diameter. The caveat is the heft - the case is thick, and has some weight. If you are the type of enthusiast who likes to feel a watch's presence, great. If not, the mass of this one, coupled with the "noisy" rotor may turn you off. I love it, but YMMV.
@@icychap Thank you for your quick response!! Since my wrist is just a bit smaller than yours, do you think it'll still work? I'd love to see how it works on you if you have insta/snap?
Thanks Teddy for the review, I got one for me and I love it, keep on with the good work.
I spent the better part of a year looking for a Reduced II before I stumbled on the Racing series. Like others have mentioned, there are very few reviews on these and it's shocking that they don't seem to get much love. After I saw the blue face version it was love at first sight and game over for the Reduced. This watch just blows it out of the water in every way. I've been wearing my blue Speedy Racing nearly every day since I got it, I'm absolutely enamored with it! I picked it up used for $2,200, which is less than most Reduced II's go for making it an absolute steal to boot.
So it's like impossible to get a speedmaster racing or reduced brand new? They don't do them anymore?
Unfortunately I don‘t like the Date change and The height of the Watch. Nonetheless a Great Video! :)
Greetings From Germany 😄👍🏼
Thanks for watching tim!
Teddy Baldassarre Late Night Watching of course 😂👍🏼
Unfortunately I have to agree. I tried one on a few weeks ago, but decided I’d find the date change frustrating over time. Loved the size on my wrist, but it was too high for my liking.
I'd reccommend the speedmaster date, I have a 39mm 3513.30.00 and I love it. It has the normal date change with, in my opinion a better looking face.
My favorite Speedmaster is the triple date , I got one with silver dial and it is beautiful! Very nice video and very interesting. Keep the good work my friend!
Francisco Perez I’ve got it with a blue dial, it’s a great watch and one that you don’t see too often.
Patrick Tutek that’s exactly the reason I bought mine! The blue one is gorgeous also!
I agree, since that is the one I own.
I’ve had a silver dial triple and currently have the blue dial. I will never give it up.
Same here. Have the silver dial triple date Speedy. It's understated class and keeps time exceptionally well for a Valjoux 775x movement.
yep.. i got the red with black with rubber strap ... but the one you have with completely silver dial is beautiful ! congrats!
Wish i had seen this video much earlier. I was lucky to get a nib grey dial on rubber from a online store a couple of months back. Love the 40mm fit and it looks great totally. 👍
This looks stunning. I recently bought a Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch at an online auction. I got the heselite version. I absolutely love it and can’t get it off. I didn’t think I would feel like that about it because I wasn’t a huge fan of Omega and don’t like the fact there are so many Speedmaster but it just has a presence.
I have a Speedmaster Reduced that I absolutely love but this will soon be a part of the collection too. I love the dial and the movement, I’m a sucker for the Valjoux rotor wobble. Overall, a beautiful timepiece that would make a fine addition to any collection!
The wobble is great. Totally alive.
The dial is great, especially the guilloche subdials.
Super!! I want a Speedmaster to the collection, but not being a automatic watch I´ve turned it down, but this one I think is the right size and being an automatic watch I will look in to this! Thanks for a great video!!
I like Omega. Maybe one day I can afford one. I have one Omega. My grandfather's pocket watch circa 1923. Still running and keeping good time.
Excellent video, I stumbled across it today. I have this exact same model which my wife bought me as a Christmas present about four and a half years ago. It is a lovely watch and I have enjoyed wearing it daily over the period.
I bought a new Breitling Avenger 2 Blackbird a couple of months ago and hope that you might share your thoughts on this watch in a future video.Keep up the great work.
Hot damn thats a good looking piece.. I need a speedmaster
Thanks for watching Chris!
You do need a Speedmaster Flippin but not this one. You need the one true iconic Speedmaster Professional MOTFM! It’s a fantastic watch.
Blueshirt Buddah you know it! Though honestly this one does look pretty great! Still maybe 4th on the list lol
Looking at buying this have a 6 inch wrist. Does it wear thick for 15mm or smaller than the size suggests?
Smaller, I have one
I had a Reduced second edition. It was hard to let it go. I sold it for a little bit more of what I paid for it. I really wanted to keep it, but I had to let one go after getting an Explorer II.
Automatic Like, as always. I've seen enough videos of this guys to know it'll be quality...
Appreciate it my friend!!
Nice watch Teddy and I agree nicer than a reduced, I also have an issue with date complications. I dislike the thickness of automatic chronographs which is why I prefer a manual wind, so I like the professional with the sapphire crystal. Come to think of it the broad arrow ones are nice too.
A friend has the Mk11 racing dial which I lusted after as I too loved the orange details. However after seeing it in the flesh I wasn’t struck on the case. Hey there are a lot of speedy models out there, so l’m sure there is 1 for everyone! 😁
To me this one, in the white dial is the sexiest and punches at watches twice the price.
If you’re in the market for a speedmaster reduced. Please watch this and take it to heart! Teddy is 100% spot on. I had a reduced, looked great, the bracket wasn’t great, movement had issues, really hard to fix. Have a Speedmaster Reduced now, absolutely love it. Much much better quality all around.
How do you find the thickness of the racing? What colour did you get?
I bought a speedmaster racing last November. I found the size much more desirable than the professional and wouldnt hesitate to recommend.
Loving it too...good thing I checked it out in person. Bec these guys aren't photogenic 🤭
I bought a red dial one
I like this white or silver colored Omega you reviewed. It seems like a better buy if I can get it used as it’s lower end Omega. Is the 3300 automatic mechanism any good? What’s a good site to buy this used from and at what price point used would I be looking at?
I like that one
and another very important point the speedmaster reduced prices are increasing dramatically lately in comparison to this racing edition
Hey Teddy, I have a watch called "Ellico Carvanni" and I couldn't find any information about it. I wonder if you could help me out.
It just does nothing to excite me... Nice review as always.
would have bought this,, only if it didnt have a date
Great watches!
Vincero watch ad before this video. Lol!!!
What watch do you recommend for a high schooler that has to wear a navy blazer button up and tie every day to school, I was thinking something more for dressing up rather than an everyday
Duckey Productions Look for something vintage on eBay. I picked up an early ‘60s manual wind Longines that was in great shape for under $300.00 or you could get the Timex Marlin re-issue.
Id love to pick up something vintage but I don’t know much about watches so I wouldn’t even know what to look for
What do y’all think about Thomas earnshaw watches
OmnipresentCow I’m looking at the Cornwall es 8060 06
Before I was looking at the orient 2nd gen bambino vers 2 but I’m going back to the bambino just a dif version, ultimately I decided on the vers 3, I really want a sleek black look thats why I was looking at the other watch, thx for the help tho
14.7mm is a THICC boi
Teddy - I have just bough this exact model. It's being shipped as we speak. I can't wait. Thanks for a great detailed and interesting review!
Got this because of the 40mm size. The more I wear it the more I love it. 🤗 And added bonus is the dependable workhorse movement inside. Had some chronos that were real pain. Too delicate and required regular maintenance.
This one is very accurate and can really stand up to daily wear.
How is this holding up 4 years out? I'm in the market for one right now
@@adhik029 this model is very robust, mine's over 5 yrs now no servicing, this is my rough watch and it's holding up very well to the beatings it gets. 👌
The small Speedy Racing is very underrated. It's not very photogenic, but it's definitely much nicer in person.
Exactly! And when you walk into an AD try putting it on someone else's wrist and look at it from a 3rd party perspective it's really nice.
The thickness isn't an issue at all as the case is divided into 3 segments and the rear part sits into the wrist, so all u see is the main housing and the bezel.
The dome shape of the crystal and the bezel go very well together as well... when angled it looks really really lovely.
I own a speedy reduced, here are my thoughts:
Pros:
-Same iconic look of the pro
-Affordable (relatively)
-Automatic
-Reliable
-Hesalite (also available in sapphire, but I love the distortion of the original. Easy to buff out scratches as well)
-8 beats a second, nice and smooth.
-Says Omega Speedmaster on the dial (hell yeah)
-Relatively thin for an auto chronograph in this price range
Cons:
-The bracelet. It’s too light, too narrow, pulls arm hairs, push pin link attachment, and the clasp leaves a lot to be desired. Still, it is comfortable, secure, and looks sharp.
-The size. This is completely subjective, but if you are used to 40mm+ dive watches, it will take some getting used to.
-Poor water resistance. (I know, it’s not a diver)
-Scratches the speedy itch, but still makes me want a Pro. The biggest con, in my opinion.
As for servicing, it is 600-700 US dollars if done by Omega. This includes a new crystal, new pushers, full overhaul of the movement, and polishing of the entire watch (if you want). I don’t think that is such a bad deal, but others will disagree. For what it’s worth, mine has not been serviced in nearly a decade and is still running great.
I would agree, if the Speedmaster Racing can't be had for the bargain price it's selling for these days
ewt415 Just making sure I understand what you mean, are you saying you don’t agree that the servicing cost of the reduced is reasonable because the racing is so affordable?
@@iLL1337 Well, the servicing cost of the Reduced seems a tad bit unreasonable for a watch that can be had for under $2k, especially, when you can find the Racing for right around $2500 these days. Good price for a better designed automatic chrono, especially compared to reduced prices.
While you're particular Speedmaster Reduced has been running great, you can ignore all the ones that needed servicing. That's the one thing i've learned in owning watches.
I too own the Speedy Reduced. Well, actually the Speedmaster Triple Date, but it's also part of the "reduced Speedy" line. For a Valjoux 7750-based movement, the accuracy is incredible. It's been several years (half a decade at least) since its last service and it's still only off by less than 5 seconds a day. My other Valjoux 7750 watches have better accuracy, but they're far newer. My Speedmaster Triple Date at least 20 years old now.
@@SharapovaFan Valjoux movements are generally quite reliable and easy to service. The Speedmaster Reduced that have their design almost 1 to 1 with the moonwatch use an ETA movement with a chronograph module stacked on it. I think these are still quite reliable, but servicing often means they need to replace the whole thing
The list of Omega watches I'm beginning to like just keeps on getting longer and longer and longer...
Excellent review. I bought this not for the price, but because at 40 mm it wears perfectly on my wrist. I did consider the Reduced, but both my watchmaker and the Omega AD (who I’ve known for years) both echo your view that the Racing is the better watch all round, especially the 3330 movement. Mine’s accurate to half a second a day (both by observation and on a timegrapher), incredibly comfortable and, being the black dialled variant, looks as good with a suit as it does with casual attire. A great everyday wearer.
Are you still in live with it? I love that it's 40mm and i think I want to pull the trigger on it,it seems beautiful
Still own it? How did you find the thickness?
They're like 3500€ (19% tax included) used, I am this 🤏 close to buying one.
I seriously wish I had never bought a watch to begin with, I'm becoming poor here.
I bought this model this summer with the black dial. I absolutely love it!!! Beautiful fit and finish. I think the 40 mm size wears perfect on my 71/2 in wrist. Definitely a keeper.
You’re the only person on RUclips who did a great review on this exact watch, in fact I’ve watched it about 15 times lol I ordered this model and it should be here Friday and your video helped me make my decision!
Keep making awesome videos man good job!
I hope you enjoy it Sean!
Hows the watch?
pika pi I love this watch and it’s one of my favorites but unfortunately I’m going to be selling it to make room for a Rolex
@@TheGunDude how's the Rolex?
@@jonnyjayjthe Rolex has been awesome I love my sub. But I regret selling the speedmaster racing. I’m going to be getting a regular speedmaster professional to replace it.
Thanks Teddy, I didn't know my ideal watch existed!
Another outstanding video review, Teddy! I've had my eye on an Omega Speedmaster for a long time. This one is absolutely gorgeous. Love the dial and the case diameter is spot on at 40mm. Thanks for sharing. All the best!
Thanks for watching ken! Appreciate it!
Bought this watch about a week ago today. Absolutely love it, my first automatic watch. It’s really got me interested into watches.
Good luck, the rabbit hole is very deep
I bought the red and black one and its on its way! Great vid.
You can swim with it. People are too obsessive with water resistance. As long as watch has been serviced in the past five years and has 50m of water resistance you are fine swimming with it. And I’m talking from experience here. There’s a reason why military spec for watches has been 50 metres water resistance. You don’t need more.
You should do a review of the Omega Dynamic III. Only ran for a few years in the late 1990s but its a great watch for people on a budget and smaller wrists (38mm)! And you can get them for a bargain!
I picked one up recently and 100% agree with you. It's a wonderful watch!
One of your best videos. A really nice review. I have not really looked that closely at the Speedmaster because there are so many movements, sizes and prices, that my head starts swimming and I just give up.
It still gives me a ride too with all the models. Thanks for watching my friend!
Saw one of these in a store for a great price and didn’t know anything about it. Watched this and a couple other videos and now it’s in my hand :)
Teddy -
First, your videos have been incredibly and informative as I curate my personal watch collection. You're insights were the drivers on my purchases multiple models including the Hamilton Khaki Field and the Tissot PRX.
I'm now in a position to buy first entry level "luxury" time piece. I am debating between the Tudor Black Bay, Omega Speedmaster Racing (the reduced in principle), or the Breitling Chronomat 40. I wish I could pick your brain - I'm leaning towards the Black Bay personally. Seems like the best bang for the buck and provides a lot of versatility but I certainly am no expert. Still thinking of what the "right" decision is but I'm hopeful I make it!
Note: I see this purchase being my 3 - 6 year watch. Ideally, I'd like to expand my collection with a true Omega Moonwatch when finances permit hence my hesitation on jumping into the Speedmaster Racing model.
what do you mean? outside of the submariner! that is just your opinion! I personally think the submariner sucks as do all rolex models.
I had no idea this even existed, want a speedmaster but always been a bit hung up on some of the downsides of the original version. This one is pretty much a speedmaster but with some big improvements such as:
1. Looks better than original speedmaster
2. Sapphire glass
3. 40mm
4. Automatic movement
5. Date window
6. Less expensive
I see a speedy in my near future, and it will be a racing. I'm a bigger guy, so 40mm, seemed a bit small( my other watches are 42-45mm), but after trying on a speedy, it seems pretty perfect at 40. I'm looking at the gray face, rubber strap, with yellow accents. Sporty, but still elegant. Also attainable at about $3,500, on line. Great watch!
Just bought the Speedy 38 - would love to see a video on it from a larger channel like this one @teddy
Hi Teddy,
Thanks for making this video.
I just bought one of these with the grey dial on the metal bracelet about 3 weeks ago and there are not many videos out there on this watch. I am new to the watch game and this is my first Swiss watch. So far I love it and doesn't come off my wrist often. Yes I sleep with it.
The grey dial with yellow hands grows on you. It's what I would call a "teutonic" watch.
All the Chronograph hands are in yellow perfect! Makes it very legible!
Love it.
For me, a date window is mandatory for a daily wearing watch. So I will go with this one even over the original manual winding speedmaster, any time.
Best wishes my dear Teddy.
Fine work as always.
Lol, if you find a time only watch you really love, I guarantee the "mandatory" date complication is, all of a sudden, unnecessary
Thanks for raising my awareness to this reference. Seems like there’s a lot of value here. Though I have to say I am partial to the 3539.50 (reduced v2) aesthetically speaking; It’s basically a baby moon watch which my 6.75 inch wrists appreciate. Have you checked out the reduced 2’s?
I also am looking at 3539 but they are quite rare. Racing os a good alternative but I still prefer the reduced 2 aestethics.
Have the red dial version and I fricken love it. So accurate. 19mm lugs sucks but otherwise not many complaints.
Hey Teddy, based on the 3330 movement of this watch - is it okay to leave the chronograph on perpetually to have the sweeping hand effect?
I'd take this over the speedmaster professional. It's gorgeous, there should be no talk about a speedmaster lite, or poor mans speedmaster at all.
Agreed it's just a different offering it's a "racing" offering it is what it says. Different size and different offering no less than the professional imo
Thank you so much Teddy. After watching this video I have just bought the watch in black. As I like black coz it’s more closer to the iconic watch.
Thank one again
I am just loving it. It’s perfect for in every aspect
Thanks for your comprehensive review and making me aware of this model. I've been hovering around my first Omega purchase, I've decided I want this racing with the blue dial.
Update: I chickened out and went for a black-on-black one. Been wearing it every day since October.
Beautiful Timepiece right there
Aye I got the blue dial version of this for my 21st! LOVE IT!
It helps for people to stop thinking of this as a "cheap" moonwatch. And just consider this beautiful watch on it's own merit as a wonderful timepiece made by a leading brand Omega. You get coaxial chronometer with column wheel pushers and silicon hairspring. All inside a 40mm package?! It's the most practical and best priced package.
Correct 👍
While the reduced tries to mimic the moonwatch in a smaller package, this one's a speedmaster racing. Not supposed to be mistaken as a moonwatch wannabe.
Just got one. Thank you Teddy
How do you find the thickness of the watch? Looking at buying it but have small 6inch wrist
Why very expensive speedmasters have only 5 bar water resistant, and this one has 10bar
I have a similar reference. Mine being a black face with a butterfly clasp and for me I love hearing the movement and feeling the counter balance. Makes it feel more living
Hi Teddy, follwed your advice and got the speedmaster racing 40mm on black, and its amazing. thanks!
How do you find the thickness of it? Looking at the reverse panda myself
I have Speedy Reduced II (3539.50) and thinking about this exact model for a silver dial compliment. Honestly, the 7753 seems a bit of a downgrade with the thickness and noise even offset by co-axial. Both are $750 for Omega Service so no difference there. A big draw for me is the Racing bracelet which can accept Seamaster tool-less micro-adjust clasp. In contrast, I need a whole new bracelet to accomplish same on Reduced.
Interesting video Teddy. I've been looking at Speedmaster Racing models recently but didn't realize there were so many, I guess it's like Seamasters. I'm particularly smitten with the 2 register Racing using the cal 9900 coax. I believe the Omega Ref is 329.30.44.51.01.002 but I could be wrong. They aren't as reasonably priced but still look like value for the money. The 9900 is METAS certified which ads a lot of value with a saphire caseback and, in addition to the usual chronograph feature, the watch can track a second (2nd) time zone on the 3 o'clock register by leaving the chrono running all the time.
Thanks for shedding some light on the world of Speedmasters.
The Speedmaster Reduced was my first high end watch. I loved it. It was the bug that got me into watches. I sold it so I could be my Rolex Daytona 16523. I’d like to buy another Speedmaster someday in the future.
im zeroing on a Speedy Reduced... and here goes Teddy with another cool option... thanks man for the headache... 😁
I think these are the nicest looking Speedmasters. I like the reverse panda version.
How you finding the thickness of it?
@@keefw361 I've never tried one on. I think they're 16mm tall? That's quite chunky.
I have one in my collection. I bought new 5 years ago. I have watches that are more expensive and more (High End) but I always end up wearing the Speedmaster Racing (Black dial on bracelet) at least 1 day a week. Also I wear it a lot traveling. Its a bit unassuming but It looks great on the wrist and the 40 mm size wears good in any decade.
Exactly the same thoughts!
I just love that it doesn't shout . Yet it feels quite substantial on the wrist. Just enough heft to make it feel "solid". Added bonus is the 7750 based movement makes it an absolute dependable workhorse.
The more I wear it, the more am loving it.
Thank you Teddy for your brilliant review!
Initially wanted the reverse panda and was hesitant to get this colorway.
However after seeing this particular piece (panda) in person, it was love at first sight!
IMO
Reverse panda = sporty, bold and unique
Panda = subtle, elegant and can be matched with most type of clothing
Speedmaster Racing for me is the sweet spot between reduced and the regular speedy
Cheers!
I have the grey face with the yellow hands on the rubber strap, it's a looker and wears great on the wrist.
Teddy, can you make a review of the best dress, diver, pilot, field, and chronograph watches across 3 budget levels? Like entry, mid-tier, high-end. Some can be quartz maybe? There might be some out there wanting to have the 5 essential types, but within a budget. Thanks!
I've had both the Reduced and Professional and I sold them both. This Racing model seems like an idea for a new Omega. Really nice piece
Love this one fits perfect on my wrist i would buy the black dial or the reverse panda
i am a sucker for a white dial damn
Dammit Teddy! I've been hoping no one's caught onto this watch yet! Looking to get one in the new year. Been saving up for over a year now
Teddy, I was in Barcelona at a cafe grabbing a quick espresso and saw the Barista watching your video. Very cool! We spent an hour talking horology and our favorite watches. Its nice to see that you also have fans over the pond.
Great review. I love my Speedy Pro but there are so many great and different Speedmasters (like this) that I find myself drawn to. I think my next will be a Triple Date.
Gotta go with the MK 40 black dial on this one, Teddy. The Racing is definitely better than the Reduced though, for sure.
love this.......much nicer than a common place moonwatch
Great review. Always loved the thought of owning a speedmaster but thought it fits too large for me. I've just come across the speedmaster 38mm on the Omega website. Any thoughts on those as another alternative on a slender wrist?
I bought this model, largely due to this video, and it is my favorite watch.
I appreciate your work Teddy!
How do you find the thickness at 15mm?
@@keefw361 I barely notice it. Omega's design does a good job of concealing the watch's thickness.
@@mohusseini11 thanks for the feedback. What size wrist do you have? I have a small flat 6inch wrist which is what is making me nervous on the thickness.
@@keefw361 That's a good thought. My wrist is on the larger side.
This watch hides the 15mm thic boy.
What about the Speedmaster FOIS?
This watch would be even better if they added a see thru case back to show off the beautiful movement!
agree
Thanks, Teddy. I did not know about the racing Speedmaster. I was in a dilemma about the reduced one as they are vintage and service is probably near what the watch cost being a two-piece movement or something like that. A great option for us smaller wrist guys. I will check into this. The moon watch is too large and heavy for my wrist.
I purchased this speedy as my first luxury watch. The quality of finishing is amazing and it packs a punch in terms of spec. A great buy. Thanks teddy
Hey Wesley, do you still enjoy wearing it after 2 years? I've been eyeing on this beauty for the past few weeks
@@jasonw9251 Hi Jason, as time passes by I enjoy it even more. The classic colour scheme means it can be dressed up or down with any outfit. Go ahead and do it!
@@wesleythompson2167 Thanks for your reply Wesley! It's always a pleasure to hear what other watch enthusiasts think. Will definitely check out local ADs and see if they still have this discontinued beauty in stock!
I just bought one.great experience 😊
Hey Teddy, I have bought this exact model 2 months ago. Just returned from servicing and have been wearing it since. Made the decision partly based on your review and would like to thank you for the content. It is a lot better than a reduced (not a fan of the modular movement, not to mention that is really trying too hard to be "the moonwatch"), os in my opinion you were spot on. I will keep good care of this one. The only problem is that I am eyeing badly for an OP now. :D Thanks again. Tamas
If they dropped the date I would be all in on this white dial version
I ordered this watch with the blue dial on the steel bracelet a few months ago and couldn’t be happier. Such a good price point for a quality, name brand watch that will bode well with time.
Love this version of the Speedmaster, but I'm not sure it's in the same "entry-level" category, as it's still more expensive than the Speedy Reduced. How about the Speedmaster 3513, which houses a Valjoux 7750 movement, and is around the same price point as the Reduced?
Hi , this has the 7753 heavily modified movement with the coaxial escapement. From what I have experienced so far, it's very accurate and power reserve is really good.
My vote: Omega Speedmaster FOIS 👍
Tried it... Unfortunately Diameter's difference compared to the moonwatch feels negligible :(
Only the shoulders are shaved off and doesn't look smaller on small wrists...so for ppl with tiny wrists , this is still the best option at 40mm .
Regards 😊
