You and Andras Schiff are the reasons I've totally been sucked into Bach sir. Your Bach sounds like a conversation with an old friend. It is truly a pleasure to listen to. I'm working through The Well-Tempered clavier 1 right now myself. There are many roadblocks but they don't feel insurmountable. I've had to admit to myself that I've simply not practised enough and variably enough. Accuracy suffers quite easily even in medium tempo if there are big leaps, maintaining a light legato regardless of note values or ornaments is also hard - stiffness creeps in. Being mostly self taught I know there are holes and when it comes to piano method, there are so many little aspects to think of. But I am enjoying myself. Discluding the few Chopin etudes I've practised I feel like Bach's music has a certain quality to It that, at least for me, invites faster, comprehensive learning. I really feel It, with every prelude and fugue. Also, hands that stand totally equal and free of each other - a beautiful dream at this point. But I try to be humble and patient. Thank you.
Hi Paul. I have notice a special , peculiar use of your right hand, specially the thumb when conducting 2 voices, can you teach me why or when you use the thumb or how it works better, please. Cheers from Saltillo COAH, México
Very interesting and beautiful as always... I noted 2 things in this suite: 1)Isn't it "funny" to write something so "joyful" in C minor ? (an example of "Well tempered keyboard" ?) 2)Is there a reason to use a key signature of Bflat for the "Gigue" and to add plenty of Aflat in the score ?
Toujours "Bachement" magnifique...
Quel plaisir de vous écouter !!!
Merci

Great playing! I’d love if you did French Suite 4, that’s the one I’m studying right now.
Beautifully done!
This was refreshing for my soul.
Cheers.

Tonalities weren’t fully developed yet in the baroque era. So this was in the C dorian mode not aeolian, with all the a flats added in manually.
Sheer delight 👍🐘😁😘
Hey Paul, will you ever play English Suite no 2 bach?
