      @@RacoonEvil A staff, that’s the 5 lines with the clef on the left, where you write musical notes. usually there is only two for piano music.
      Liszt used a third staff to write the melody at the top, while the accompaniment takes two staves at the bottom.
      Actually that 3 staves part at the beginning looks impressive with the hands crossing, but it’s definitely not the hardest part.
      Have a look at this one, still for solo piano music. how one can play this is beyond what I can comprehend.

Well, as you might guess, I was right and I was wrong! In some ways I marvel at the simplicity of Liszt's composing, taking simple phrases and making them sound really hard when they actually fell right together nicely. Yeah, then there's the other parts! Most of the piece really wasn't bad, just the 2 damn arpeggio's gave me fits.

      Comparing Liszt’s romantic harmonies and modulations to those of Mozart is a little absurd. From just a harmonic point of view, Mozart would have never written anything like this. That’s not to say Mozart’s harmonic craftsmanship is any less genius than Liszt’s, but Liszt’s is incomparable due to differing styles and harmonic techniques.

      Oddly enough I find Liebestraum more difficult to play. But I learned this one when I was more advanced and I learned Liebestraum when my technique was kind of crappy. Just my $0.02, both are difficult but well worth the effort.

    1. Be born as a genius with musical talent and huge hands. 2. Be born to a pianist who plays for a Prince. 3. Sight read Chopin like it’s nothing, get noticed by aristocrats. 4. Practice scales and arpeggios 10-12 hours per day until you get so sick of having mastered every awkward fingering pattern that you decide to challange yourself by making even harder ones. 5. Laugh at everyone that tries to play your “practice problems.”

To my ears, your performance in that first upload is on one of the most balanced and tuned upright pianos that I've ever heard. To hear this piece on the Feurich with your current recording technique is just... grandiose. Thank you so much for this. This made my day!

    This is my favorite rendition I’ve ever heard of this piece. You actually take your time with it and give as much intonation to each note played as you can. Most versions sound more like a rolling cascade of notes to me rather than an beautiful, rolling harmony with a clear melody on top.

    • @xyxyxy2066
      @xyxyxy2066 6 лет назад

      I agree It's very good technically but nowhere near Hamelin's level. You can tell Barton slowed down in difficult places, which gets in the way of the musicality. Hamelin doesn't have that problem and plays it both faster and much softer/sweeter.
