I have to say that is the best roast I've seen outside of the home... everything looked cooked to perfection. £54 is expensive but as a Yorkshireman I'd pay that 👍
This is another great series from you Thomas and Sheena! Not alot of vloggers have done a series about British food, so I'm looking foward to the next episode!

A beautiful, beautiful video of London - brings back so many memories of when I was there. Those pies looked magnificent. The pies, the scotch egg, the roasts...all looked divine.
😍😍😍😍 so happy this video brought back happy memories Brenda! It was a wonderful time of the year to be there! And all of the food- all so memorable! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one 😄 Cheers, Sheena

Commonly, Yorkshire puds were served with gravy before the main meal in households where resources were very limited and a little meat had to go a long way. They were also served afterwards and at other times with jam to fill up on.
It’s so interesting that the practice carried on into the pubs like we mentioned in the video! Wouldn’t mind a Yorkshire pud with jam myself! 😍 thanks for watching and commenting S Simpson, hope you enjoyed the video 😄 Cheers, Sheena
That’s so kind of you to say! Thanks so much for watching Reid B. So glad you’re enjoying our content. Omg that roast and that pie! Delicious. Cheers, Sheena
Hi Neil, thanks so much for your kind words. We’re so happy you enjoyed the video! I hope we can get back to the UK soon and spend time travelling around the country. Hope you like the rest of the content on our channel. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Sheena
Woohoo. I like to be surprised of course but I really really love the classics. All my favorites today. *_pie and Scotch egg_* - Had a couple of pies in London and my favorite was a fish pie but loved Sheena's description of the pork. 😀👍 *_fish and chips_* - Ate fish and chips from a proper chippie and a pub...loved both. Next time I'm in London I swear I'm going to visit The Laughing Halibut due to that gent waving goodbye @9:05. So fun. Kudos for filming. *_Sunday roast_* - I was fortunate that my first visit to London included a Sunday so I got to experience Sunday roast...albeit it was at the hotel lounge. Loved it nonetheless. *_Yorkshire pudding_* - When my friends ask me to describe Yorkshire pudding I initially say it's a savory Dutch Baby (delicious slightly obscure breakfast treat in the U.S.) to which they usually respond "what's a Dutch Baby?" 😂 Fantastic day, guys! 👍
Hi Tosh! Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Yea we thought it'd be wrong if our first London series didn't cover a few of the classics- just wouldn't feel right about it 😂 Didn't get a chance to eat a fish pie- I'm a real fan so will have to find one on our next visit! The Laughing Halibut was well worth a visit- they were great in there. In fact everywhere we went we found people so kind and friendly. So glad you enjoyed this one mate. Cheers, Sheena P.S Just had to look up a Dutch Baby hahaha looks fantastic!! And very Yorkshire pud-esque!
Yes, it would be a major disappointment if a trip to London didn't showcase the classics because they are all brag worthy and quite delicious. Same for iconic dishes in Paris, Tokyo, Madrid, New York, Bangkok, you name it. I had really fantastic sushi in London but no one wants to hear about that. My friends ask about Beef Wellington, scones, a full breakfast, F&C, black pudding, eels, etc. 😀 Can't wait to see what you two got into on day 3. 👍
I try sushi in most cities I visit. 😀 In fact, I went to two places in London - Dinings near Regents Park and Dozo in Soho. Dinings was a researched resto while Dozo was a drop in while exploring Soho...it's next to a live music venue I visited. Both quite delicious. 🍣👍
The Cod and chips looked nice but, you missed mushy peas and curry sauce... best way to eat though on paper. 3 years old, they will cost at least £15 now in London. The best fish and chips are further north, Yorkshire which will be slightly cheaper and Haddock is preferred over Cod... due to the Cod being a bottom of the ocean feeder
We’re hoping to be in the north of England this year so will definitely be putting another meal of fish and chips on the menu- mushy peas and curry sauce too 😍 thanks for watching mate and hope you enjoyed this video! Cheers, Sheena
We ran out of time Roger Taylor but loads of people have raved about it- it’s on the list for next time. Thanks for the recommendation 😄 hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
Sorry to disappoint you but Guinness in the keg is as flat as a puddle of rainwater. The bubbles that form the head come through being forced under pressure through a few very small holes in the nozzle. Take the nozzle off and the liquid that gets poured into the glass is completely flat, as fizzy as a glass of water. The whole "stored under higher pressure" drivel is marketing tripe. Seriously, next time you order a pint of Guinness, ask them to pour you an extra half pint without the nozzle, (it screws off very easily.) Some breweries do the same to their ales. If you look at the end of the tap where the beer comes out you can see that the ends have a thread on them. This is so that some breweries/pubs can screw on a very restricted nozzle that artificially bubbles the beer in the same way as Guinness. The fact that this pub does not use those nozzles tells you that the bubbles and the head in your pint of bitter came from the CO2 left over from fermentation.
Hi George Davie, we were at the Shoreditch restaurant 😄 So happy you enjoyed this video! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. Do you get back to London often? Cheers, Sheena
@@ChasingaPlate Nope, I have been out of Turkey for 20 days in the last 11 years. Last time I was in the UK was 2011. Totally confuses all the Bureaucrats!
Enjoyed the video, us Brits do love our Fish & Chips so much so that during the 2nd world war it was one of the few foods not rationed as the Government of the time thought that it would be bad for morale.

Mmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!! (Imitation is flattery!!) When you first showed the pub for Sunday Roast I was wondering how one could choose among the meats. Ah ha!!! The triple threat! Wish I was enjoying that meal with you.Looks delicious. Again, your photography and conversation of the food makes me want to try things I’d usually never consider! Arthur Guinness was actually English, he learnedhis trade of brewer at Fullers. Twocenturies of Irish marketing have made him irish in fact, until the company HQ moved to Londn in 1941,senior managers were not allowed to marry catholics
Thanks for this brilliant information lordmick roach! We love learning more of the history behind the food and drink. Hope you enjoyed this video 😄 Cheers, Sheena
You can't have have proper pork pie without the geletine from the trotters young butter was one of my favourites .I think the pub was in Burton place the corner there used to be a famous club called the Revelotion ,back in 1960s certain places still serve the Yorky first Some counties do a better pudding where the meat is cooked above the batter so the juice drips into it
The best fish and chips you can eat in the uk is far up north, sat on the beach fighting off seagulls. The best meats also. Cumbrian lamb is stunning. Luckily for me I'm from the Midlands, home to the original Pork Pie and Stilton Cheese. I like London, some great restaurants but for me the true food culture of the Uk is outside of the capital.
I could just picture it all in my head reading your comment Joe! We would LOVE to travel the UK on a massive food journey and experience everything you described. We are currently publishing a NZ series where we drive from top to bottom in a campervan hitting up all the small towns and communities to find the best food. It’s where the heart and soul of the food culture of our country is, I think much like what you say about the UK 😍 Thanks for watching and commenting on this video! Cheers, Sheena
My gosh it was just amazing getting to film there and eat the pie rooms food. Unreal. The roast was absolutely amazing too! Thanks for watching this one. Cheers, Thomas 😀
If you come back to England, come up to Yorkshire and try some of our local dishes! Or try some Scottish and Welsh food, too! There's a lot of great food in the UK, as there is everywhere in the world! It's not always easy to find in the UK, but it looks like you guys did so alright. Thanks for showing our much maligned cuisine in a positive light ❤️
Hi Paul, thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! We’d love to travel around the UK and film 😍 The only thing stopping us is the cost 😆 Hope we can make it happen one day! We found some awesome spots on this trip- took some hunting around like you mentioned but what we discovered was fantastic! Have a great weekend! Cheers, Sheena
Yorkshire pudding is not a bread, it is a batter. Flour eggs and water. It is equal parts per volume so 1 cup of flour, one cup of water and a cup of eggs. Then add salt and pepper. Fill an oven friendly hot roasting tin or Yorkshire pudding pan with 1/3 oil or dripping heat for 10 minutes then add the batter cook for 35-45 minutes in a hot oven until deep brown and risen.
Great point Vicky! Thanks for that! 😍 It’s such a great component of a roast dinner 🤤 This one was delicious. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Sheena
One small warning - The Guinea is VERY EXPENSIVE. There will be no problem spending 40 pounds on your steak or 100 pounds on lunch for two without wine. Ouch !
😝😝😝😝😝 I had a quick peek at the menu whilst we had our beer sav and was sad to realise the closest we’d get to the steak was standing next to the grill watching it cook 😂 thanks for watching and commenting- hope you enjoyed this video! Cheers, Sheena

😍😍😍 I could never eat another Scotch Egg again and be happy that the last one I ate was perfect in every way. Calum is a magician! Thanks for watching and commenting mate, hope you enjoyed this video. Cheers, Sheena
What a treat to eat such lovely food, in green parks, on a warm, sunny day in London!! It's hard to choose a favorite for the day...the pie and Scotch egg looked so many notches above the usual, but all the perfectly roasted meats and accoutrements did, too! And sitting in green grass, eating a huge cod filet is hard to beat. Looks like a dream come true to me. Beautiful shots of the city, the food and your sweet, sweet smiles made this one a winner, guys. Thanks!
😍😍😍 so happy you enjoyed it MsKestrela! It was such a fun one to film- especially as we got to eat all our British favourites- and such great versions of them! The roast and the pie and Scotch egg were especially memorable. Hope you are liking the series 😀 Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Sheena 😘

We genuinely love what we do- it’s so neat to be able to share a small slice of places we travel to via the food culture with our audience- many of whom we know will never get to visit these places. I’m still dreaming about the pies and the roast dinner in this one 🤤 thanks for watching and for your support! Cheers, Sheena
Were the pies as good as Fat Bastards? We used to have in Aus, things called Snegs. They were an allempt to copy the Scotch Egg, but did not make it. I tried them a couple of times, but nah. I was in the UK in 2014, but never got around to trying F&C. Had a good place down the road from my Hotel, which did a great Full English.
Snegs! 😆 Seriously, this Scotch Egg was off the charts, we ate a few more during this trip and they just didn’t even compare. The pies are so different to FB’s- very rich, absolutely delicious- more one you can sit and savour with a beer or wine. Thanks for watching Carl! Cheers, Sheena
The pie hole looks amazing, the craft of making those delicious pies... I bet they spend their time making the best recipes with the meat and the crust. Wow Thomas that yolk looks delish. I wonder how they accomplish that texture inside of the croquette looking like ball
It was such a privilege getting to film in there! The passion Calum has for pies is infectious (not that we need to muster any enthusiasm 🤣). That yolk was next level- the meat in the Scotch egg also contains white pudding which makes it softer 🤤
It’s such an incredible city isn’t it jojo 1998? Did you spend much time there? Hope this video series brought back some great memories. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
Too right guys!! Omg the roast and the pork pie were both so memorable. Such amazing quality! Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoyed this video! Cheers, Sheena

Hey guys!!! Nice to see you enjoying the UK👍 You found some nice takes on Traditional British food there guys - look's like you are enjoying yourselves. You can't beat a good pub👍😋🍻

The reason that this fish and chip shop does not cook to order is that its location is in a market close to Victoria Street, and its the norm for lines of people out of the door, plus they have a restaurant. good quality products, they have been there years.
Such a great place. Really enjoyed the f and c’s. The pre made thing sure is different for us Kiwis. That would never happen in NZ no matter how busy a shop is. Love that about food around the world. Always little differences even if it’s the same dish. Thanks so much for watching. Thomas 😀
For the best fish and chips you need to head to the coast. There are some chippies in London that serve terrible fish and chips. but a good chippie is pure heaven
Yeah we’ve had some terrible fish and chips in London before. This place was a real stand out though and well worth a visit. Great fish. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Thomas 😀
Its pot luck, I've had great fish & chips all over the country. In Blackpool, Morecambe, Scarborough, Whitby and Dover but even Burnley right near Turf Moor, a Carlisle campsite, Hebden bridge by the canal, in the Lake district and York near races plus many many more.
Wow the roasted on English oak? The smell in that place and in the meat has to be to die for Every piece of meat looks delish, the lamb, the pork ... EVERYTHING! We are in love with that steakhouse
Fish and chips is one of our biggest temptations when it comes to food. Love that you are showing us this dish London is sooo beautiful! Can’t wait to go back.
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena i used to go often when I lived in Spain but I haven’t gone since I moved to the USA :( now its time to drag Lieles there hahaha
Epic video. That pork pie and scotch egg delicious. Sheena, considering your family has a history in fish and chip shops, to say that English shop was great I'm all in. Sunday roast looked devine. River and I both said we wanted roast beef while watching this. Especially loved your background places to grab a bite. Scenes were lovely. Despite the fact I'm not a beer drinker, that pub looked enticing, (ok the steak looked delicious). Cheers, happy healthy travels.
😂😂😂😂 wish we’d had room for the steak Rebecca! All of the food was fantastic- that roast was amazing- hope you guys get to experience one day! And that pie and scotch egg- don’t even get me started 😆 And yes! The fish and chips were very good- a very different style to what we get back in NZ but very tasty! Thanks for watching and commenting guys- hope you two are recovered?! 😘😘😘 Cheers, Sheena

Your videos are so professional and well done! Keep up the great work!
That’s so kind of you to say! Thanks so much for watching Reid B. So glad you’re enjoying our content. Omg that roast and that pie! Delicious. Cheers, Sheena
english food is so v.under rated !!!! thank u 2 ' most engaging and sincere vloggers on the tube : )
Totally agree mate! It gets such a bad rap! Thanks for watching and for your very kind words 😄 Cheers, Sheena
Very professional and good music makes your videos stand out from the crowd.
*_fish and chips_* - Ate fish and chips from a proper chippie and a pub...loved both.
*_Yorkshire pudding_* - When my friends ask me to describe Yorkshire pudding I initially say it's a savory Dutch Baby (delicious slightly obscure breakfast treat in the U.S.) to which they usually respond "what's a Dutch Baby?" 😂
Fantastic day, guys! 👍
😆😆😆😆😆😆 where did you have the sushi?
I try sushi in most cities I visit. 😀 In fact, I went to two places in London - Dinings near Regents Park and Dozo in Soho. Dinings was a researched resto while Dozo was a drop in while exploring Soho...it's next to a live music venue I visited. Both quite delicious. 🍣👍
Will make a note of them!! 😀
Have you guys been to Maltby St Market? Pretty good alternative to Borough mkt...
We ran out of time Roger Taylor but loads of people have raved about it- it’s on the list for next time. Thanks for the recommendation 😄 hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
That pork pie looks incredible!! Pie and scotch egg at the park, what a wonderful picnic experience!
It was SO brilliant! Love a pie picnic 😍 🥧
@@ChasingaPlate where was the jelly?
Nottingham College TV you mean in the pie? That is a different style. The cold one has jelly. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Thomas 😀
Seriously, next time you order a pint of Guinness, ask them to pour you an extra half pint without the nozzle, (it screws off very easily.)
Some breweries do the same to their ales.
Such awesome info! Thanks for that mate. Hope you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. Cheers, Sheena
That food looks so good!
It was brilliant! Thanks for watching. Thomas.
English classic pies look so tasty. Really wanna try them!

Which Blacklock were you at? Great vlog, you really made my mouth water. London food was nothing like that when I lived there40 years ago!
😍😍😍😍 love this bit of info! Thanks for sharing gerontius1934able. We’re major fish and chip fiends so can understand the thinking behind it 😂 So happy you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Sheena
I’m a Filipino-American in Los Angeles who is OBSESSED with a British Sunday Roast. Especially a Yorkshire pudding.
😍😍😍😍 do you cook it at home mate? Or do you go out for it? Omg yes love a good Yorkshire pud! Bet you would have loved this roast- I think about it all the time 😂 thanks for watching and commenting 😘 Cheers, Sheena
Cannot beat Melton Mowbray pork pies served with relish or piccalilli
🤤🤤🤤 YUM!
Thanks for watching and commenting Diana! Cheers, Sheena
Mmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!! (Imitation is flattery!!)
When you first showed the pub for Sunday Roast I was wondering how one could choose among the meats. Ah ha!!! The triple threat! Wish I was enjoying that meal with you.Looks delicious.
Again, your photography and conversation of the food makes me want to try things I’d usually never consider! Thanks for being up front about what you try-I appreciate the honest opinion when something isn’t great.

@@ChasingaPlate Oh yes, enjoyed the video lots. keep them coming
You can't have have proper pork pie without the geletine from the trotters young butter was one of my favourites .I think the pub was in Burton place the corner there used to be a famous club called the Revelotion ,back in 1960s certain places still serve the Yorky first
Some counties do a better pudding where the meat is cooked above the batter so the juice drips into it
That sounds SO tasty Tony. Those meat juices in the pud would be damn delicious. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
Pie room is super awesome
Sheena i hope you are feeling better with your health!!! Lots of love and keep up with the great content!
Hi mate! Thanks so much 😄 I’m pretty much back to my usual self yay 🙌 thanks so much for watching this one- hope you enjoyed it. Big love back! Cheers, Sheena
Wow... that Scotch Egg! 👍
😍😍😍 I could never eat another Scotch Egg again and be happy that the last one I ate was perfect in every way. Calum is a magician! Thanks for watching and commenting mate, hope you enjoyed this video. Cheers, Sheena
I make my own scotch eggs, I can never have a store bought one ever again.
Yorkshire pudding are made from a batter mix, excellent episode

Blacklock's breakfast is very special-looking too. I'm going to be booking two months in advance.
Yum. That was such a great meal. Loved every second of it. So tasty. Thanks for watching this one and enjoy your breakfast. Cheers, Thomas 😀
I like more well done meat. How was it seasoned? Roasted on oak wood? Gravy, cabbage and carrots sound fabulous.
Perfectly seasoned! I think about that roast all the time- it was amazing! Thanks for watching Cee Bee, hope you enjoyed this one. Cheers, Sheena

"Go hard or go home"... that Sunday roast was definitely "all in", l think for the price your bank balance went "all in" to that meal. 👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣 sure did but we’d do it again in a heartbeat! One of the best meals we had on London 🤤 thanks for watching and commenting Brilliant But Blue. Hope you liked this one. Cheers, Sheena
I miss the uk so much ❤
I was watching a video on RUclips about a British pub located in Wilmington Delaware that serves British food
Sounds neat. Loved filming this one. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Thomas 😀
Just had a pork pie for dinner, I feel that’s a classic British item to eat.

No jelly in the pie...interesting.
It was tasty as Mike! The pork pies they serve cold I believe contain jelly. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
That pub looks like a must-visit! Beautiful street scene there too with those buildings
It was a stunner!!
Which one count the bubbles on the Guinness 😂
Haha long job that 😂😂 thanks for watching. Thomas
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena wow that’s awesome
I miss London!
It’s such an incredible city isn’t it jojo 1998? Did you spend much time there? Hope this video series brought back some great memories. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
The pork pie looks really tasty, salivating right now just by watching the video 😋 Oh yeah save the best for last, roast meats - best comfort food🙌
Too right guys!! Omg the roast and the pork pie were both so memorable. Such amazing quality! Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoyed this video! Cheers, Sheena
Nice to hear they use unbleached flour. Plus so many different cuts of pork along with that fennel, mustard seed and sage!
Hi guys! Omg that pie- it packed a flavour punch!! It was mouthwatering. Wish we’d had room to sample all the other ones 😆 thanks for watching this one! Hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena
Hi guys! Wow the highlight of this video were the pies, the scotch egg and also that roast 👌🏼🤤😍 wow so good! That last especially looked melt in your mouth juicy. Fantastic video as always XX

Hey guys!!! Nice to see you enjoying the UK👍 You found some nice takes on Traditional British food there guys - look's like you are enjoying yourselves. You can't beat a good pub👍😋🍻
Hi guys! We had such a brilliant time! Love a good pub- hope we can get back to the UK in the winter time soon- there’s nothing better than holing up in a pub in cold weather! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one. Hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena
We are here! Excited to see more of London 😍😍
😍😍😍😍 hi guys!! Thanks for watching and commenting- hope you enjoy this one! Cheers, Sheena
The smell in that place and in the meat has to be to die for
Every piece of meat looks delish, the lamb, the pork ... EVERYTHING! We are in love with that steakhouse
Hope you get to visit one day guys- we talk about that roast often 😂 it was sooooo good!!
Fish and chips is one of our biggest temptations when it comes to food.
Love that you are showing us this dish
London is sooo beautiful! Can’t wait to go back.
It’s so stunning in summertime! Do you guys go there much? Yay for fish and chips!! 😍
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena i used to go often when I lived in Spain but I haven’t gone since I moved to the USA :( now its time to drag Lieles there hahaha
You must! Spain and London- kill two birds! 😍
Fun fact, Guiness was made by accident, the hops had been burnt and should have been thrown away but Mr Guinness was such a miser he used them anyway. Thank the lord he did
😍😍😍 LOVE this! Thanks so much for that Fruit Gums- you’re right, thank god he carried on! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one, hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers, Sheena
Great video guys, yet again, my God you know how to pick some good food, am still salivating, big thumbs up 👍

Yay a London Foodies series :)
You had us in the intro food teaser!
We used to live in the SW1 area for some years and found amazing places on Kings Road. Great that you're helping to bust the poor foodie myth of London cuisine.
Oh, if you're still in London there's a great place we love called "La Poule Au Pot" you must try :) On Ebury street SW1W.
Looking forward to this series.

😍😍😍😍 wow awesome guys! Do you miss it?! It’s such a great city. We can’t wait to get back again. Thanks so much for the recommendation! That old myth that British food is bad needs to be well and truly banished! Thanks for watching and commenting- hope you enjoyed this one! 😍😄 Cheers, Sheena
For Australians to complicated roasted meat is quite a compliment; Australians are good at meat.
That was such great meat. Loved that meal! Ps we’re Kiwis so even more discerning 😂😉 thanks heaps for watching. Cheers, Thomas 😀🙌
Only in London you will pay £5.50 for one scotch egg lol
I would totally pay it again- the quality was phenomenal 😍 Not an everyday food though 😝 thanks for watching and commenting Richard, hope you enjoyed the video! Cheers, Sheena

Your teaser at the beginning really put me on the edge cuz I was already salivating & the anticipation was really sky high! 😋😋😋👍👍I was not disappointed, this vid & your research really delivered. The Pie Room is awesome guys!! If I buy 1 pie each day, how many days will it take to sample each & every one of their pies.. Scotch eggs originally were never soft boiled. That's relatively recent.
Hi J Williams, thanks for watching! Yea we’ve had many an original Scotch egg with a hard boiled egg but I’ve gotta say none blew us away like Calum’s. If I never eat a Scotch egg again I’ll be happy in the knowledge that I finished my run on a stellar one. Hope you enjoyed the video and are safe and healthy! Cheers, Sheena

It was expensive 😆 everything was expensive for us (😂) but it was so interesting in London as we found that there wasn’t too much difference in price between more high end restaurants and the run of the mill spots but the difference in quality was immense!
