We're in London, United Kingdom! In this 3 part series we're hunting down the best British food in London, United Kingdom.
This is our first video from London and we're at Borough Market to find the best British food. Borough Market is one of London's oldest and biggest food markets. Aside from a tonne of fresh produce, meat and seafood there is a wide variety of cooked food to be eaten. We want to sample the best of the best. We start with a sausage roll from the famous butcher The Ginger Pig, tuck into some oysters from Richard Harwood whose relatives have been in the oyster game since 1792, eat a chorizo roll from Brindisa (not worth it) and then scoff some of Bread Ahead's famous doughnuts.

The guy working at Brindisas was fast!! He quickly noticed you guys were filming and did not want to be filmed lol great review of the market. I enjoyed the candid and honest assessments but also the breakdown and analysis of the sausage roll, market history, and intro to donut store history. Great location chosen to inhale the donuts. Definitely on my to do list

I am so happy you came to London and went to Borough Market - its one of my all time favourite markets - I usually come into London a few times a year in the summer to go to the market - now my office has moved within walking distance its going to be hard on my wallet!!
One thing I thought was really great about the market is I was talking to one of the workers on one of the Oyster Bars in the market and he said that because they had been there so long the Trust that runs the market paid the salary of one person to man the shop during covid (for the days they were allowed to open) - and quite a few stalls remained open because of this but of course there were security making sure people queued and remained socially distanced. :-)
I think you only saw half the market though - you mentioned it was small but its really massive and is sectioned off in 3 parts - so you have to come back!! - Try some specialist coffee, some aged balsamic or some cheeses, in the summer you can usually find a venison or hog roast - one stall has a blue cheese that's been matured in wine and grapes/berries - if you like blue cheese its amazing!!
Oh gosh, lucky you working so close 😍 I feel so gutted knowing we probably missed a lot of it- definitely a reason to return 😍 It had such a lovely feel about it and we ate so well on our visit. How wonderful that the Trust looked after the stall holders during what must have been such a stressful time. It would have been devastating to see shops close because of COVID. I think I could spend days not looking at the food stalls but at the shops! I would love to see what condiments, teas an other food stuff they sell that you probably would have difficulty finding in any ordinary shop or store! Love Borough Market vlogs, I just sit here and drool!

@@ChasingaPlate Hi Guys, no don't miss the UK too much. I miss some of the food like Pork (in all it's forms) which of course can only be found in very limited places in Turkey. The country suits my life style (certainly at my age lol) much more than it would have in the UK
From what little time we’ve spent in Turkey it feels like a really relaxed pace of life!

That sausage roll is humongous, and looks so dang delish. And woah those doughnuts I can only imagine the taste. Love it how the Eton mess had flecks of vanilla seeds in the custard. So rare to see but obviously a standard that makes them stand out from the average. So blessed to see your vids & always love your honest opinions on the kai.

You guys know how much I love oysters... it’s 7am here and I’m salivating
Nice to know about the order to eat those.
I found that the oysters here in the US are very nice but they get richer in flavor the smaller they are. And the origin also makes a huge difference. The ones on the up north states like Maine or even Alaska, are saltier and have more sea flavor
So good to know guys! Will have to look out for those small ones 🤤 we’ve never eaten oysters in the States- will have to make sure we do on our next trip!

*_Borough Market_* is a must visit indeed! I had oysters while there but can’t confirm if I went to the same stall but I recall that they were nice.

First time to Borough Market, eh? I haven't done any research in years but will never forget that the original market was open for 500 years and then re-established in the early 1700s. So even the *_"newer"_* version is decades older that the U.S. Ha! I'm quite sure I've mentioned a time or two that when a market, resto or pub is super old or original, I'm visiting no matter what. Where would I begin in that lovely market, probably a plate of oysters then those yummy sausage rolls with meat and blue cheese what a surprise and finish with those strawberry creamy donuts with meringue. You can double up on the chorizo. I have only had them when the bread was freshly toasted & found it to be an excellent sandwich. The doughnuts on the other hand I found to be disappointingly tasteless. Go figure.

After the first bite of the sandwich, you should have taken it back to the stall and asked for a fresher ciabatta roll. Lesson for next time 😊🙏

It is very seldom that I comment on a video but I do for chasing a plate and chop stick traveler reason Is that when you try food you also give explanation about ingredients of dish and flavours and this thing shows that you have good knowledge about food which is missing in other so called street food video vlogs like mark wein and food rangers. Secondly you guys really explore street food or at least try to be in budget and show what masses eat and a traveller can afford. While other food review shows are doing high end touristy things with whole bunch of guides..i have visited some of the countries and I know how genuine food review you guys do

I’m usually a bread/sandwich person. But I must admit, many of the sandwiches in other countries have way to much bread compared to filling. I’d prefer just to order the fillings with no bread. 😊
This sandwich was so mediocre 5cats 2kids- you know when the bread is so crispy that it actually hurts to chew because it’s tearing up your mouth? 😝 I could definitely have done with just the filling in this instance!
