- This is the second video from our Rarotonga, Cook Island series! The Cook Islands is one of the world's smallest countries. This gem in the South Pacific is popular with Kiwi and Aussie travellers and with good reason- it's tropical, easy to get around and fish is in abundance! We spend 10 days on the island exploring the local food and the best eats to hit up when you visit. From the nation's iconic dish- ika mata (raw fish salad) to real fruit ice creams using local fruit like soursop and passionfruit to the best cafes and cheap eats on the island. Stay tuned for some epic Cook Island food!
What we ate and where we ate it:
1. Vili's Burgers, Ngatangiia District, Cook Islands. Open 7 days 11:30am to 8:30pm. Muri Burger $8.50, Double Cheese $10.50, Fries $5, Tropical Shake $7.50
2. The Pacific Fish and Chip Shop, Q56F+29G, Ara Tapu, Arorangi District, Cook Islands. Open Monday to Friday 5pm-9pm. Parrot Fish $10, Chips $6, Island Fries $8
3. LBV Bakery and Cafe, Ara Tapu, Ngatangiia District, Cook Islands. Open Monday to Friday 7:30am to 2:30pm and Sunday 7:30am to 3pm. Cinnamon donut $, filled donut $6, Ika rosti $26

We were in Raro in January and the food in Raro was so fresh and yum! People say it’s expensive but it’s the same price as NZ and tastes so much better.

Ha was there just last October and that place makes the best burgers 🍔 best even in Australia and NZ.
Look out for the Thai place down by the night markets. They will Rob I blind count your change. They charged us $80 for 2 beers 🍻

Do they use NZD ?
Yep NZD. There are some local coins that you sometimes get as change but they’re the same value as NZD. It makes it a very easy place to travel to from NZ. Thanks for watching. Thomas
