I love these videos, not only is it entertaining & funny, but the culture & history of the fish & chips & all the restaurants is way more interesting than it should be HAHAHA
Great review. One point on the Salt, which is fish & Chip shops have been discouraged from over salting the food.Thiscis simply because the British consume far too much salt. Max intake should be no more than 4,2 grams per day to avoid long term health issues.
As someone well-versed in traditional chippy fare, coarse sea salt won't stick well to fish and chips unless you pour vinegar first, so it's better to use fine sea salt. I understand that table salt isn't ideal. You'll find some of the best fish and chips in the country in and around Yorkshire, where most are cooked in beef dripping. However, the best I've had so far was in Bristol. I also review incognito, so the chippies don't have a chance to sweeten me up with large portions. I rate on a scale of 1 to 5, as it's much easier for people to relate to, similar to how Google, Yelp, Yell, hotels, and most other platforms rate. On a scale of 1 to 10, where the difference between an 8.3 and an 8.4 means nothing to anyone, it is less effective.
The Fryer's Delight staff should have said at the start it's cash only or have a great big sign saying CASH ONLY. Give up mate, don't bother going back. It's their loss. They must lose a lot of business if people can't find cash locally and hence don't bother going back to collect their order. They're obviously not business people. If I was the owner, I'd have an ATM in the shop. We need to keep promoting the use of cash otherwise we are going to lose it to digital currency and we definitely don't want that, although it's inevitable. A lot of businesses are now ditching their card machines because of high bank charges. Always good to keep at least £50 cash on you because you never know when you may need it and if ATMs are thin on the ground because the banks have closed up, you can get caught out. If you don't have a card, how would you have got cash out of the ATM?
The principal ideas of a cashless society are for Government to have access to how, when and where you spend your money and for the banks to make even more obscene profits.
Yes, CASH only signs required. It's a similar problem with Card only when no signs displayed and you try to pay in cash. Dan and I walked out of Daylesford Organic recently as he refused to use card only and no sign displayed. Jezza Clarkson is cashless too. I used to work a few doors away from the Seashell in Lisson Grove and often had my lunch standing at the shelf inside the front window eating chips. They were undoubtedly the best chips I've ever had. I didn't have the fish very often as it was ruinously expensive, but it was very good too. I lived round the corner from The Fryers Delight and often ate there too. It was pot luck to be honest. Sometimes the fish and chips were fine, but occasionally they were, oily, soggy and quite unappetising. I think it's living on its reputation.

These days, a meal with 2 pieces of fish, 2 prawn cutlets, 2 potato cakes, 2 dim sims, and small chips would cost around $40.00 on average here in Melbourne, Australia.
