Join me to find the best fish & chips in London! 🐟🍟 I visit five top-rated spots: The Seashell of Lisson Grove, a personal favourite introduced by my grandad; the upscale Mayfair Chippy; Poppies, a popular chain; The Fryer's Delight, a cash-only traditional spot; and The Rock & Sole Plaice, London's oldest fish & chip shop established in 1871.

Omg I wasn’t expecting Seb to be the camera man!! Hi Seb!!
I love these videos, not only is it entertaining & funny, but the culture & history of the fish & chips & all the restaurants is way more interesting than it should be HAHAHA

"I feel like we've just gone back in time... What do you mean you don't take cards?" Hahaha
As someone well-versed in traditional chippy fare, coarse sea salt won't stick well to fish and chips unless you pour vinegar first, so it's better to use fine sea salt. I understand that table salt isn't ideal. You'll find some of the best fish and chips in the country in and around Yorkshire, where most are cooked in beef dripping. However, the best I've had so far was in Bristol. I also review incognito, so the chippies don't have a chance to sweeten me up with large portions. I rate on a scale of 1 to 5, as it's much easier for people to relate to, similar to how Google, Yelp, Yell, hotels, and most other platforms rate. On a scale of 1 to 10, where the difference between an 8.3 and an 8.4 means nothing to anyone, it is less effective.
The chippies in Blackpool are amazing too. Dan and I ate our way around them earlier in July. 😹
The Fryer's Delight staff should have said at the start it's cash only or have a great big sign saying CASH ONLY. Give up mate, don't bother going back. It's their loss. They must lose a lot of business if people can't find cash locally and hence don't bother going back to collect their order. They're obviously not business people. If I was the owner, I'd have an ATM in the shop. We need to keep promoting the use of cash otherwise we are going to lose it to digital currency and we definitely don't want that, although it's inevitable. A lot of businesses are now ditching their card machines because of high bank charges. Always good to keep at least £50 cash on you because you never know when you may need it and if ATMs are thin on the ground because the banks have closed up, you can get caught out. If you don't have a card, how would you have got cash out of the ATM?
The principal ideas of a cashless society are for Government to have access to how, when and where you spend your money and for the banks to make even more obscene profits.
@paullewis2413 nail on head there buddy
Cashis king. Cash spending rose 7% lasy year -- thats massive
Yes, CASH only signs required. It's a similar problem with Card only when no signs displayed and you try to pay in cash. Dan and I walked out of Daylesford Organic recently as he refused to use card only and no sign displayed. Jezza Clarkson is cashless too. Sign up at Diddly Squat farm - fair enough - but not at Farmer's Dog - naughty! So much for espoused Freedom!
The Mayfair guy clearly clocked you were recording so that's prob why all the sides were free? I could be wrong..
Also it's called *cashback* - There was a Pret two doors down!
My thoughts exactly! The guy behind the counter knew exactly what was going on 😂😂
They are actually free i’ve been there a couple of times.
Harrison, you ooze gentlemanly charisma! Great video!
When I worked in Westminster, I used to go to the Laughing Halibut. Especially on a Friday, queues would form right round the block. I took my hubby Dan there for lunch one day last year (our wedding anni meal lol!) for old times' sake and it didn't disappoint. I went to Toffs in Muswell Hill a few times in the past when I lived in London. There's a bangin' chippy in Twickenham near the Wetherspoons.
I challenge you to find the best traditional Sunday lunch in London. I lived there for 20 years and could never find it. No1 Pimlico came close.
Big Island Hawai’i, fish and chips, Harbor House, Kona side, Fish and chips around $18.50 USD, it’s fish of the day, usually Ahi, it could be Ono or Mahi. Enough for two. Delicious, no sauces needed, but their sauces are equally delicious.
I’ve only seen 3 videos from this channel and 2/3 have a section where he has to go hunt for an atm because a shop would only take cash
It’s become a thing hahah
Should always have cash on you.
@@MrWiseinhearthandy as well in case the system goes down, which it often does these days. A debit card might also be a good idea for the ATMs to work! 😹
I used to work a few doors away from the Seashell in Lisson Grove and often had my lunch standing at the shelf inside the front window eating chips. They were undoubtedly the best chips I've ever had. I didn't have the fish very often as it was ruinously expensive, but it was very good too. I lived round the corner from The Fryers Delight and often ate there too. It was pot luck to be honest. Sometimes the fish and chips were fine, but occasionally they were, oily, soggy and quite unappetising. I think it's living on its reputation.
I just want to say I’ve been LOVING!!!!! The videos Harrison! Keep up the amazing work :)))
Thankyou really appreciate it! ❤️
CASH IS KING HARRISON!
For a kingdom that ruined civilizations for spices, youd expect their food be atleast salted
"Ruined"
“ruined” lmao
u wouldn’t understand
Yes completely stolen and ruined their culture
Are you saying those countries are not good places?
My man Seb with Mohawk hair, nice!
In our country we don't eat fish without loads of lemon/lime and red hot peppers. I respect the chippie shop that won't accept cards!!!
Best London Cafes next? Pimlico Cafe etc?
3:13 OMG WHO IS SHE I'M MELTING
Fair play that was good value and lovely fish and chips from Mayfair great content.
I enjoy your videos. I remember when fish and chips were so affordable, like $10 dollars. Sitting on the beach with fresh bread, butter, tomato sauce, and maybe vinegar, enjoying it on a sanga. These days, a meal with 2 pieces of fish, 2 prawn cutlets, 2 potato cakes, 2 dim sims, and small chips would cost around $40.00 on average here in Melbourne, Australia.
Sad mate, i own a business in london selling chicken burgers at 3.50 as a meal and masala fish is around £8 from fillet cod. chips are 1.50 and drinks 75p consider visitng a new city for cheaper food
Vinegar on first, then the salt sticks to the vinegar - otherwise you just end up with loads of salt at the bottom of the tray or bag. Nice one. New Subscriber.
0:51 Everyone needs one of those.
Great content & personality son!
Love these vids, calms my very anxious nervous system 😅 Love to see different places & different foods
I love these videos Harrison! I also was not expecting to see Seb behind the camera! Hi Seb!!
The fact that i was impatiently waiting 4 another upload from u says a whole lot about how much i love ur content. ❤
I grew up in a coastal town and now I live in London, so I am paying very close attention to this! Fish and chips here is often so disappointing to me, so thanks for testing places out =D
We have the best fish and chips here in Cyprus , it's called Lambros fish and chips and it's based in the British army base of Dhekelia .
If ever you come to Cyprus for a holiday you must give this place a try , it's the best fish and chips you'll ever have .
Depends on the fish it has to be atlantic cod
A crunch is important but if you put the fish in a box an have it delivered or go somewhere its going to steam and loose the crunch.
#1 question… what meal killed Harrison’s salt taste buds haha
Nice to see a youth who doesn't litter...makes a change! 😂👍
Cash only and no working ATMS? Goodbye.
Up north, we favour Haddock over Cod. Cod is bland and could have worms between the skin and flesh
Nobody's ever found worms from Cod in a chip shop!
sundays get better with every upload from u Harrison!! 🫶🏼
Your video is different! I love it! I miss the fish & Chips there. I used to buy for a price of 5 to 7 pounds!
Quite a few places I go to in London for fish and chips you have to ask for salt or salt and vinegar on your chips
Chip shops almost never season by default. Where has this guy been living?!
3:01 that's how you know it's expensive if you see a MF Rolls Royce Cullinan in the back 😭😭🔥🔥
Mate the portable salt shaker is so genius! Legend H... Legend.
Middle class as f*ck though!!
@@annother3350 😂😂
Loving your videos, keep it up!
Could you now do a test from places mentioned on here?
Old bitter oil that hasn't been changed for weeks is the problem with a lot of these chippy places.
Harrison reminds me of the lead singer of the group Blancmange
There absolutely should have been a sign in the window, on the counter, on the door that says “Cash only”. That guy was 100% a jerk for doing that.
Cash is king. This country will be like China if you people keep using your card.
Cash only. Must doggy tax.
Good video. Should checkout Master's Superfish in Waterloo. That's a solid place for fish and chips.
I'm honestly underwhelmed I was always thinking British fish and chips is top tier.
I think Harrison has a salt addiction 😂
Go to Whitby for the best fish and chips
Used to go to Rock and Sole Plaice a lot. Looks like new owner and staff though now. Used to be really good.
Mushy Peasr are life. They also make it a square meal
the fryer's delight uses beef drippings that's why it tastes different!
One of the very few places in London that does it properly. For me the taste is incomparable.
@@bennunncan be overwhelming in taste
When my daughter and I went to London in May. We had 'What the fish' in Hammersmith. We loved it!!
FAVE TIME OF THE WEEK!
Best value fish and chips in London must go to Gig’s on Tottenham Street. £8.50 for their weekday lunch time special mini Cod and chips.
Tbh he could have gone into a local Sainsbury’s etc., bought something and got cashback 😂
Keep up these vids, love watchin all your new content!
Thankyou means a lot! Anything you like to see next?
@@HarrisonWebb97 I like all these videos of you sharing your experience somewhere and you have an open-minded approach which is refreshing because so many people are bias these days. Cafe review could be cool, maybe rating the coffee and a chosen pastry item.
I'd suggest trying somewhere outside west London... Sutton & Sons in Stoke Newington. And, complaining about lack of salt is confusing... you put your own salt on fish and chips... it's not McDonald's
I was thinking the same about the salt
I wish New Jersey had fish and chips!😥😢
Harrison always makes my Monday (NZL TIME)
I got very excited and happy when you opened with Allo Geezer! Could you do this in another video but instead say Allo Guvuner! #PrettyPlease
Great suggestion!
Omg go to a beach venue!! Lyme Regis The Place is the best ever
weird they didn’t had a sign saying cash only and they didn’t even said when you placed the order???? can you go to a brazilian supermarket now??
Hi, where did you get the Malden salt small container? Love it. And.... can you do a video on Eataly if you haven't already?
Yes officer. That’s my mini salt carrier, honest!
I screamed "oh sebbbbbbbbbbbb!" like he can hear it, when I saw him behind the camera hahahahahaha
how fish and chips could be so expensive? it's a peasant food
My first watch of your show............... pretty good actually................. we have fish & chips here in Australia................. kinda one of our staple diets.......
seriously mate, if a business doesn't accept cash and they've told me after the food is made, that's on them. i walk out and don't even bother to get cash
Especially with how he said it. The 2nd man working is definitely better with the customers
Tax evasion
It's actually so funny seeing how many times you said the meals tasted like they had no salt. 😂😂😂 Every time all I could think was "This guy is ADDICTED to salt!" Lmaoo. I got used you to saying every meal needed more salt. You are a salt addict, just like me! Lol.
So true! Hahaha
I love fish and chips but Harrison is a better snack 😉 ❤️ 😍
Can Chinese subtitles be added ? thanks~
Every fish and chip shop in New Zealand raps with paper no mushy peas here
Try the Tom kerrige one
Somewhere in the UK they make an Indian fish and chips , where is it ?
Seashell definitely over rated, Poppies went downhill after they won their awards...Faulkners in Dalston, and Toffs in Muswell Hill...2 of the best in London...personal opinion.....
Forget Lemon or Tartare sauce mate (must be a London thing). Fish & chips without Salt & Vinegar is like Sunday roast without gravy. You have to drown that stuff. And pour all that pea & curry goodness all over them chips too.
Loving the videos, top tier
Omg 😱 That’s the prices for fish and chips in london? Wow. It’s £8 for a large fish and chips where I’m from. I stopped paying, and complaining. But seems I’m lucky then 😂
I need that thing to carry my salt 😅😅
If 4.1 is the best then which one is the best from which you are comparing them to?
I heard to never get fish chips in London. Cost too much, and the quality is disappointing.
lol good luck that’s a whole life’s work 😂
Best fish and chips in London are from Chipping Wharf. Highly recommend.
Are you aware your jaw clicks when you eat 😂😂 I'm a clicker too! 🙌🙌🙌
hahah yep TMJ
£13.50 for that portion size, we used to be a proper country 😂
Hey brother I just came across your channel and really like your vibe…
I can’t eat fish and chips without ketchup, and with mushy peas, curry sauce (a new addition to fish and chips for me, this year) tartare, a pickled onion and preferably a wedge of lemon. And if you are eating in - bread and butter and a good cup of tea.
Not a fan of ketchup but I have to agree with Fish n Chips it goes so well.
The fryers delight use to be amazing years ago when I was growing up but now it’s absolutely terrible even the staff are rude it’s just not the same which is a shame it definitely needs a revamp
Should of checked out the Harrods fish and chips!!
Try this one place in Cutty Sark in Greenwich it’s pretty decent can’t remember the name but it’s pretty decent
If I owned a chippie, I'd make it cash only..... and have an ATM in the shop!!!!
My favorite videos on RUclips rn!
Fish and chips WITHOUT mushy peas should be illegal!!!
Should give the Golden Chip in Hanwell a go. Fish has plenty of flavour and proper chips too.
Unfortunately you wont find the UKs best Fish and Chips outside of a seaside town.
You’ve obviously never been to Toff’s in Muswell Hill
come to new zealand for some top tier fish and chips!
Or Scotland 🤷♀️
3:14 just a casual mustang
do they count the chips ??..you would think potatoes were dear
