I have seen David Sanborn 6 times my most memorable was 91-92 at the Peacock pavilion inside the Cincinnati Zoo Hiram Bullock RIP was playing guitar these guys jammed so hard my 2 year old daughter was grooving to the music RIP Mr Sanborn
I'm a old fan of Sanborn and I will miss him because he was a great musician, the kind you remember for ever. He becomes part of your life that's David Sanborn to me.
5/2024 RIP David Sanborn,...was a fan since the 80s. Saw you perform live, a couple times when your route included Ohio. You will be missed. Thanks for all your wonderful music.
I’ve enjoyed David Sanborn since the 80s when I discovered his infectious blues almost soul singer style thru his sax. Always a heartfelt feeling of joy in his music in a style that many others have imitated.
What an incredible artist. I heard David's music one day at a friend's house when I was 15 years old and have been hooked ever since. I'm 68 years old now!
Anybody knows why david is not tightening the screw of the neck of his sax? I saw it falling down 3x during his live performances. He's one of my idols but it bothers me to watch the neck of his sax bending down.
I got in touch with David Sanborn in 1985, when he was the opening-act for Al Jarreau. Great performances of both and I caught them live both as often as possible. Great gigs and wonderful memories. ❤👍👏 Also loved David's guitar-players: Mike Stern, Hiram Bullock, Dean Brown and Nick Moroch. RIP Al Jarreau and Hiram Bullock. 💐
David is a Giant ,The Real McCoy ! Been a fan since the early 80´s before he got a record deal and I mean vynil records, yeah, that far back. Had the pleasure to hear and meet the man in small NYC jazz clubs. He has the rare and unique quality of playing one single note and be instantly recognizable. Great band, all outstanding, high caliber pros as usual. Specially Nicky Moroch - guitar, flawless as always and nonevethat arpegio crap. Just simple, old school, bluesrock 3 finger playing, plugged str8 into a vox , solid and crisp, just the way I like it. He´s in the same level as guys like Larry Carlton and Robben Ford. Great concert, thank you so very much for posting!
Don't forget Hiram Bullock's guitar either! I play harmonica (51 years and was full-time pro by age 20) and have adapted many of Sanborn's tunes/arrangements to harp, especially the more swinging bluesier ones like this. Robben Ford is always in my top 5 guitar players that I listen to but lately been listening much to Hiram, bought one of his CD's, etc. and he is one of those ones that can swing, has blues but also that solid Jazz foundation....or more like the blues foundation with the Jazz on top......I may like him equal to Robben Ford now. They are all great! Jeck Beck, Hendrix, Duane Allman!!!! Danny Gatton, Wes, etc.
David Sanborn is a great saxophonist , I think he is one of the greatest jazz saxophone players ever to do it, he has sound and style all his own I, pray he continues to stay healthy and continues to play the music he loves 💝💝👏👍☝🎼🎶🎷🎷I am a lover of his music, play on Mr Sanborn, play on😎👍👍🎼🎼🎶🎶🎷🎷👑👑🎆🎉
Whether you play sax or not you have to respect this man. He has many imitators on alto, but no equals.....even Michael Brecker spoke very highly of his abilities. Thank you muzline for uploading this wonderful performance.
Since I am a kid of 15 the sound of David is what I always love His sound is so interesting and unique. Three years ago sakshama made a mouthpiece for my alto sax with nearly the same sound. It is a pleasure to play this mouthpiece.
i remember him about that late night music show he had on TV.. i discovered years after on this you tube and it still sounds amazing 20 years later, "Night Music" wow
Switzerland. Lugano (Italian pronunciation: [luˈɡaːno]) is a city in southern Switzerland in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino bordering Italy (From Wikipedia.)
I've seen David a number of times. One of the most memorable was at the Fox Theater in Detroit. Marcus Miller on guitar. They were playing "Lisa" and Miller has a remote pickup (probably super common now, but 25 years ago not so much). Dave and Marcus are playing off each other, back and forth. Miller goes running down the center aisle and disappears, all while playing. A few seconds later he pops out in one of the balconies. Fantastic!
@@curtisfairbanks9089 Yeah, probably Hiram Bullock on the guitar. He loved walking through the audience while soloing and sometimes dancing on a table ... 😆🙃 ... even leaving the room and still playing together with the band 100 % tight. Wonderful guitar-player, miss him so much. And of course you're right about Marcus Miller as a bass-player, also one of the best. 👍🤝 We can watch Hiram walking around here: ruclips.net/video/kjlp54woWIo/видео.html Mindblowing! 😝👏
Drumming is good, efficient even tight and fast yet for drums to stand out there has to be magic...sorry but the impossible has to happen. Enjoy the organ wish there was more of it, altogether a good set worth listening too over again....a few times.
Dwight, I disagree with you on the drummer. He stood out to me. Great job adding his imprint. He must have been memorable for you as well for you to mention him first. But, to each his own.
okay,,, at about 105.15 ... the star david acts like he is playing background to the guitarist solo,,,, But you guys understand he plays a wind instrument ? He has to be lip synching it is classic I love david sanborn
Boney James is the SHIT! Hands Down! NOBODY can play flawless sax like Boney James. David Sanborn sounds like he is playing in a shoe box! VERY DRY! He never heard of digital delay, evidently!!!
You with that Boney James crap ??!! I happen to like both. Boney is strictly smooth jazz!! They're different styles . You can't compare Coltrane with Kenny G. Your musical diversity is very narrow!!
i never liked sanborn, seems like he was wasting my time when i could be listening to garrett, brecker, or watts. i found my way here looking for an example of sanborn playing hard bop or avant jazz. i didn't think i'd find any LOL david seems to put more of his passion into being commercial and getting money on pop records and using that as a platform to make commercial jazz records where nobody tries to hard to say anything meaningful on their instruments for fear of it not being "accessible" to the mainstream. that was always his forte, kind of a grover washington meets dave koz. this is a nice change of pace for david and has an excellent backing band in support. but i still don't FEEL anything as sanborn works through the same old tried and true bebop scales and solos with lackluster enthusiasm. he's way more into it when he knows MORE MONEY is on the table.
@@davegalloway2191 Absurd......well, to each his own. If this man does not care for this set of really Swinging Jazz/Blues. Can imagine how much disdain and time wasting he would feel if here were sat in front of Count Basie, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, BB King, T-Bone Walker, Maceo Parker, etc. etc.

Love David sandborn saw my first concert with David sandborn was in Niagara falls❤❤ RIP Your music 🎶 lives on🙏🏽

My favorite Saxophone player ever.

D.Sanborn and the keyboard player simply unbeliebable! Thanks a lot to share this.

I think you are talking about Hiram Bullock on guitar Marcus Miller plays the bass
I’m sure you are talking aboutHiram Bullock as Sanborn’s guitar player Marcus Miller plays Bass
