Yes. It is one of the best interpretation I ever heard... the one of my young years, when I was a teenager. A gift from my dad, who was an avid collector of classical music. And a refined music lover. What I eventually became too... ;-)
My favourites Brahms concerto no 2 are Really=Edwin Fischer from 1942! Sviatoslav Richter with the Paris Orchestra with Lorin Maazel from 1969! Grigory Sokolov with the Finnish Radio Symphony video youtube from 1987! Sviatoslav Richter the most Genius Brahms no 2! Sokolov the best piano sound! Sokolov unbeatable rhythmic vitalness! Sokolov the most Titanic!
A classic version. Truly recommendable. The partnership between Anda and Fricsay forms a real symbiosis. I guess it helped having the Berlin Philharmonic and two inspired hungarians giving it their all. Brahms would be proud. Another one to look out for is Richter-Haaser with Karajan on EMI.
Geza Anda in the 4th minute is so different from everyone else and truly Brahmsian! I had never heard of Richter-Haaser and months ago I wanted to hear Karajan in this and after the second piano entrance I realized he was maybe the greatest musician I had never heard of ! I must find more Richter-Haaser unforgettable sound, phrasing the mastery and presence but above all the rightness of his Brahms . I just couldn't believe I had never heard mention of this recording it stays in my memory like that mad Russian womanYudina playing Schubert last Sonata .
This pianist makes sense.GilelsandRichter don't have his class in this! The phrasing in 3ndmov and the trills passagewith arpeggi has never meant as much as inAnda's way.So many marvelous details in slowMOv!Anda is just as wonderful here as he is with Karajan years later.Furtwangler was broadcast in this with Adrian Aschbacer (not good recording exciting untamed unBrahmsian pianist )Gawd I can't believe the music he makes out of this .This is my 3rd or 4th time relistening to him in this for many years. I wish I could love (however(Leonskaya is remarkable!)MyraHess or Bachauer in this but not as much as Fricsay and Anda..Most of today's pianists (the women have the strength) .Anda is unforgettable in this and Fricsay we are so lucky the record companies knew these 2 Hungarians went to gether in Brahms - so wonderful . Tere is even film of Anda in Chopin no less!!!
Very nice performance of this classic concerto.
Simply the best Brahms 2 I ever hope to hear; such warmth, impeccable tempi and phrasing!

A beautiful interpretation. But personally the 1972 recording with Gilels/Jochum is my reference.
@@stylianosleontsinis8268 I personally find Gilels/Reiner even better

この映像は凄い、本当にありがとう。
ゲッザアンダがブラームスの傍で弾いているようです!
Definitely the best 4th movement I've heard, usually it's more of an afterthought.
Absolutely outstanding!
revelation!
