Sure, it's always sad to see something like that get destroyed, but I don't think it was financially feasible to fix it. Could it have been fixed? No doubt it could have, but you could have bought a new G36 for the cost of it!

Well, "once the wings come off, they never go back on!!!". In our case that is not true....my friend (an ex isle of man TT racer) asked if I would help him rebuild a stripped down Rockwell Commander 112 he'd had in storage for around 5yrs. Hell yes was my reply & 2+yrs of weekends only work, she flew again😝

    • @MrBerryK
      @MrBerryK 3 года назад +2

Certainly not true! I used to have a Beech A-23 Musketeer, and at the annual the A&P found “exfoliating corrosion” on the wing spars. I reluctantly got a ferry permit and sold it for scrap, because the cost was more than I could pay, and I didn’t have time to invest sweat equity. A few years later I looked up the N number for fun, and Lo! Someone bought it and apparently grafted new wings on, and it’s still flying! Yay, I guess.

  • @Michael-to7oz

Definitely gotta agree with others that 310 can and should be returned to flight condition along with the Aztec. The Bonanza is definitely too far gone, but the engine and other components can be used to keep other aircraft in the skies.

The Beech at 6:20 has the exact same stripes and paint scheme as my old twin B50 that's been sitting for years since the magnesium flight controls are completely corroded, you definitely would not want to hit your head on the trailing edges because you'll be guaranteed to get tetanus. Mine has duct tape covering the trailing edges so anyone who's not paying attention doesn't get cut up to bad.... both engines run at least.

That 310 is one of the nicest I have seen in a very long time! Last time I saw a 310 was in MPLS I was leaving in my Mooney, I was waiting for the ground crew to get it out of the hanger and I saw a guy in kind of a ratty looking 310 doing a run up on the runway plane sounded decent till he got to one of the mags on the second engine and that mag was really messed up, plane just barely kept running on that bad mag. I figured the fellow would taxi back in to get the mag fixed, NOPE he proceeded to taxi out and off he went. The next week I was at the same airport and the ground crew were filling my plane with fuel and I mentioned that 310 with the bad mag flying out the week before, the fuel guy got a very weird look on his face and asked if it was a red/white one and I said yes, apparently on that following Saturday he took off with his family on board, plane crashed off the end of the runway, the pilot, his wife and 2 daughters died because of this asshole!

Just wondering, are there crews of guys that specialize in this kind of disassembly and moving of airplanes? Ive never seen it done and it was fascinating to watch. Just wondering if people do this for a living.

Yup anyone can take the wings off and slap them on but would need an A&P to approve of the work to make it air worthy again

Yes there are people who do this for a living , here in Canada I use to do that for people as I am an AME.

You need a screw knocker, alot easier that drilling out fasteners. I believe one of the aviation tool magazines sell them.

You should call yourself Buddy Holly Airlines. I mess around with cars and I often wondered if people messed with old planes, but dismissed the idea because I didn't think the law would allow anything so stupid. Again, the similarities to a toddler fumbling with a thermo-nuclear device are striking.

I recognize that airport! Seminole Lake glider port just west of Orlando. My parents used to own the lot next to the one where you have your planes. Small world.

Cripes, how many car washes did you pass in 1000 miles and what, you run out of quarters? It's much nicer to work on CLEAN stuff ya know?
But at least you beat the snow by getting out of PA before November. Hey, remember to vote early and often on Tuesday.

@@a.n.7863 Jimmy also ought to throw a young python or two in the planes to eat the rodents before he starts opening everything up.

Yes, the twin engine planes will, but with a lot of cleaning. And on the other plane duct tape can fix it, and a little JB Weld too.

Unfortunately, I don't think you will ever get the Bonanza to work again.
When I was younger, I almost took on an adventure with an old Mooney aircraft. After seeing this, I glad I didn't do that. It is interesting to see you work on that adventure Jimmy. Thanks for your videos.
