- When I bought this airplane 9 months ago it was broken. It sat for 24 years while it wasn't 100% a broken airplane, it was in need of some major love.

i don't have a clue what a used airplane like this cost, but now that it's fixed, cleaned and air worthy, it must be at least double the price he spend on it.
@@3DPeter But, WHY? Who is telling you what a plane is worth? Marketing is like psychiatry, is it? Prizes are insane!
Ive heard that from boat owners
@@3DPeter and half of what he spent
That’s a companion statement to “if you wanna be a millionaire in racing start with 10 million “
I’m a 66 hr non-ticketed pilot. The Cherokee six is the plane for me. Two peeps and some camping gear is fine with me. Cargo door is tops! I love the stable characteristics of that airplane. Fly from A to B call in your approach and flair. Done! Have a nice day.
Such an awesome story and turnover on this amazing airplane. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Next thing I would definitely do is change out those airplane seats for something more comfortable.
The wrap makes her absolutely beautiful! Love the pharmacy supply jokes.
😎😁😎 remove the back door now 😎 we are going to bank the plane 😁
@@NenadKralj - Yep! I didn't think it was a joke either... 😉
15 years ago I restored a t-tail Lance (paint, panel & interior). That might be a good next project? If you want a little more speed (150-155kt cruise) the Lance/Saratoga is a good choice.
This is your best vid so far, Jimmy, IMHO. Less hollering and goofiness; more useful info...but still has youthful enthusiasm. Nice work.
Really enjoyed this overview of the type and what it took to get this wonderful plane back in the air. Well done Jim keep safe
Great practical educational videos! Love them, Jimmy. I have started my commercial pilot's licence, your videos spur me on! Thank you.
Thanks for the cost breakdown and good overall plane rating.
Great job Jimmy. I bought an Aztec and fixed it up. Pickup truck x2!! Love the plane, does a great job…….but the crawling up the wing not so much. Looking at cheap 340s now. Great watching your progress. You got some guts buddy.
Congrats Jimmy, it turn out fantastic. Saw the trade a plane ad, and if I was ready to trade out of my 182, I’d have to come look at it. Just not ready, but you’ve got that one loaded like I would want! I think asking price is right for today’s market, good timing on that! Look forward to the next project, love your channel
Thanks so much!
Very enjoyable to watch you, Jimmy! Great info, you're a positive, can-do kinda guy who doesn't mind hard work and getting your hands dirty!
Best channel on RUclips! Not another car rebuild, will it start, barn survivor channel but an actual interesting and technical channel. Love the content especially the older planes.
Thanks for sharing your story about the Cherokee 6. I've got about 100 hrs in the 6 and I love that it can haul a ton and it's very comfortable for pilot and passengers. My ATF plane is the twin Comanche but the Seneca would be an interesting project plane.
Thanks for sharing!
35yrs here in southern ohio and recently became absolutely obsessed with aviation and love youre videos and very mechanically savy lol but give me a job!! Dream come true!!
Great personality that talks in very easy way that everyone can understand the meaning of aviation. Well done and you make things interesting to watch.
I've been thinking about getting my pilot's license, so I've been doing a lot of research online. I came across Jimmy's videos a few days ago and I've been watching them quite a bit. Lots of useful information and the guy has a pretty fun personality. I just subscribed, keep up the good work.👍
Good on you for getting it done!
Now, get a Baron! If I could ever afford one, that would be it.
(Just 'cause turbine singles are even MORE expensive)
Looks great, Jimmy. Thanks for the videos.
Damn nice truck if you ask me. When you get to be my age speed isn't so much of a factor but dependability, durability, and stability are cool. You did a great job refitting and upgrading the electronics. Who ever gets this machine will have a gem of a plane.
I've never seen the interior of a plane look so much like a family car. No wonder the prices are skyrocketing, we could all be flying around this country with our families and shit. That would be sweet.
Sweet as fuck, mate.
Who wants to fly with family, not me!
@@MarybethIUHoosiers Are you a pilot? I imagine you could arrange it to be no more dangerous than flying with family on a regular airliner. That comes at a cost, I'm sure.
I love the way you work and are so efficient at diagnostics. You need a former aviator handy with tools and methods to help you like me!! Your 'kid' is amazing in the videos and so knowledgabal!
I like the way you bring an aircraft back to life. The job
New subsciber here. Not a pilot, not going to buy a plane but I am a big fan of aircraft of all sorts and your channel is great, very informative, not so serious and quite funny. Keep it up Jimmy, I love it.
I'm not an aviator but enjoy watching aviation videos. I subscribed, you have a great video personality and of course aviation knowledge. Congrats!
neither do I ... i have yachts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but like a lot the passion of the guy about his stuff !!!!!
We had an Aztec in the 80's got rid of that and got a 206 Turbo... Much happier with the 206 and especially living in the southwest desert.. high wing is just a lot more comfy IMO..
Sweet. We’ve got a turbo 207.
Thanks so much for what you do... and how well you do it. I'm educated, entertained, and motivated by you. Again, thanks!

Nice job with the upgrades, I can see that thing really being fun to cruise around in.
If you want to stay in the Piper family a Lance or a Saratoga retracts get you more speed. If you are not brand tied a Cessna P210 might tickle that itch better. If you are looking at twins Aero Commander and then you can imagine you're Bob Hoover.
LOL I saw one of his performances at an airshow when I was ~12 y/o. Then later, when I was getting my MEL, his routine crossed my mind a few times. >:}
I would say, go small and get a tomahawk
Great plane, I owned 3 of them. My favorite was a 7 seat 300. I flew medivac, freight and tons of my own things. It does have a reasonable conservative flight envelope in calm low altitudes. I have flown many aircraft, piston, turboprop (PT6) and a few jets. The 540 Lycoming is the best. It is the most comfortable AC that I have flown. The big back doors are fantastic. The stability in rough weather is tops. I love the two hershey bar wings over the new tapered long span ones. The prices keep climbing for a reason.
Awesome video sir. Enjoyed the ride and the over the shoulder tech stuff. Would love to see a twin rebuild..... LOL
Thank you for taking us along. Hope to see you again soon.
Good job showing telling jimmy about the plane, and doing nothing is wrong not good so you like doing the plane’s do it to it. but rest don’t over do it so keep on flying see ya next time see ya bye.
Jimmy, loved the recap, an outstanding job. If you are looking, may I suggest a Commander 114, around 185 mph more or less, lots of room, wide cabin, retracts and the price is under $100K. Service ceiling is 17,000 and change.
Thanks for the info, good to know!
Great job Jimmy. Let's have some flying videos pls. destinations etc. Then another build. Thanks
Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video!
Never expected less from a Red Horse. Jimmy, that’s one fine restoration job, great looking airplane. Hope your family gets many an adventure with the six.
Blue skies Brother.
Thanks! maybe the next one will be called "Chargin Charlie" :) lol
Yes, your right Jimmy. The Cherokee 6 300 is an old dependable workhorse. I've spent many hours flying one back in the 70's. I dropped jumpers out it, cross country hops and hauled lots of cargo, When I could find another pilot to fly it, I made several skydives out of that cargo door. The only incident I had with the 6 300 was a broken belt that drove the alternator. Happened at night on a cross country. Lost battery power. Sure gets dark in there with no lights, and really quiet with no radio. I spent the night and a small airport. Keep up the good work. I enjoy the videos and the crazy banter. Just an old Marine here. R.
Keep her in the air Jimmy, was fun watching you build her!
Thanks so much!
Good job Jimmy, this is awesome. Man this is so cool to fly and to have your own build bird to fly. I would love to pass my PPL and start flying too but that seems to be a dream for the moment.
Go for it!
Congratulations Jimmy, damn good job. Keep it, be happy with a good dependable work mule. What's your hurry? The moment we're on the ground we wish we were back up there. Take your time, savor the moment. It's a good looking plane and a good Captain will know every inch of his ship. The richest people are those who are content with what they have.
Totally agree on the cargo space. I've flown both air ambulance and air mortuary in a six. You can imagine how much room that takes.
Jimmy, I enjoyed watching the restoration. Maybe you could show how to put all the speed mods on the plane that will make it faster and more efficient.
Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video!
I’d love to be in a place where paying 45k for something broken is a good deal lol

“You can fit all kinds of medical supplies back there”… you mean “pharmaceutical supplies” right 😂
Some people fly med supply's ( like a heart or kidneys) . not meds or pills @ 16 gallons an hour.

I don’t think he’s talking about the pharmaceutical supplies I think he’s talking about the stuff to get you high lol
It seems he is trying to get cartels to buy this aircraft
*NBA will never let you fly a private plane. It's in the contract. Experimental aircraft are actually grounds for termination.*
Awesome job Jimmy! Well done, can't wait to see your next build ;-)
Thanks so much!
Jimmy you could have saved 500 in that encoder. Remember you have dual g5 with gad 29b. You can drive digital Arinc 429 out of the gad and Into that es transponder. One less thing to get certified on your 24 month checks as well. Just FYI good job.
Great rebuild!!!
Hoovie of the planes, Doug of the 1-10 reviews, Wizard of the rebuild! And you fly the damn things!!!, Love it! Subscribed
Exactly!
And Boston George with the cargo hahahahaha
absolute madman 😂
Perfect
Thanks for the rebuild blog. It was fun to watch. Good luck with selling it. You will have a great set of videos for the perspective new owner to watch before they buy. My opinion on the new plane would be a Cessna 310 but I guess I am biased.
Hi Jimmy, Love your channel. Love you enthusiasm and knowledge. We done please keep up the great work.
Jimmy's world is a great show love it keep it up. I'm learning more about planes on every video.

Flipping with Jimmy, the story of how a young man and his MB turn a out of annual Piper into a full time RUclips channel.
In this episode Jimmy has the lust for speed, as we follow him through his work getting a multi engine rating in his new project Piper twin.
Jimmy, Love your videos and explanations of expenses. Question Jimmy....Did all the upgrades include the Annual or preparation for an Annual ?
Thanks! the Annual was all mixed in with everything else.
Jimmy. Your sense of humor is gold. Great channel you have.
Thank you kindly
Nice build! Looks good! Thanks Jimmy!
Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video!
Hey Jimmy, Thanks for the awesome channel! Love the humor (of which the subtler parts are not lost on me :)) and your resourcefulness. May I suggest now that you have built out the "airborne suburban" how about an "airborne boxter"...say a Beech 35 or even a B55 twin? At any rate, all the best!
Thanks so much!
Owned one with retractable gear. Good combination of load cg. If you stick to utility load rating and are within air density. She will not disappoint. Safe very safe aircraft. Yes it is a truck.
I love your show! Please do more! I wish you could do an F4 phantom. We need to find one of these
Jimmy nice work on the pickup with wings. Pickups are the best investment I’ve known and the most handy. Keep working on the show entertaining us, take care and keep your wings level .
They were the second most used 135 airplane in Alaska in the 80-90’s I believe
Yep, poor man’s 206
I remember loading (and unloading) two full-size pinball machines in a Six and accompanying them out to a remote village. South Nacnec
That was the 60s 70s 80s and 94s
Fantastic work & congrats!
It has been great seeing you do this. Found you channel via your crazy "Look at this Lear fighter trainer you can buy for $150k" style videos and have stuck around for this kind of content.
Think you need to keep doing both to get those new eyeballs and keeping them - you seem to have found the way to name your videos and get RUclipss algorithm to work for you :)
I'd love to see a video on the real running costs.
Thanks! real running costs on the Cherokee 6 is $200/hr wet (inc fuel)
@@therealjimmysworld Really enjoy your enlightening videos.Does that cost cover future engine replacement or re-build at TBO?
Well done Jimmy. That’s probably about as good and useful a ch.6 would ever be After all your work and upgrades.
I can't help it Jimmy I love to see those old planes put back together and get back in there I'm and that's why I watch your Channel
Someone talked me into going on a trip in a small plane once. Here's what it felt like: you're on top of a piece of plywood hooked up to a car being driven down a dirt road by a drunk.
100% accurate!! Hahahaha
Be glad you did not hop into a vintage fighter jet. That feels like sitting in a beer can being thrown by a base ball pitcher. And then hit by a champion. Tock! Few! Out of the stadium! Tock! That was mother earth.
@@voornaam3191 its dumb, but my daydream is climbing into a p51d mustang, getting some altitude, and coming down fast behind enemy fighters at 400 mph with 50 caliber blazing away. Dont miss, they shoot back.

Jimmy, thanks for bringing us along with your adventure. Enjoyed this wrap up. How much time and how many bandaids?

I love your channel and sense of humor. A Piper Cherokee 6 is my dream airplane.
9 months broken back to brand new wow thats amazing #savethe310 great job fixing it! :D
Next project should be a Piper Malibu.
Do one and post the progress.
Jimmy, does the wing on this Piper fall under the recent AD for the installation of the wing inspection plates and the required inspection of the wing joints for stress fractures? Did you have to do those? If not, why not?
yep and yep. All done and checked out perfect.
Man, I really liked that.
I seen a documentary on how heavy planes fly with shorter wings.
After watching big birds floating on the wind and getting higher.
They figured it out.
They put those curved up tips on the end of the wings. Now the heavy plane was lighter when it flew.
But don't change a thing. That plane is beautiful. You did an outstanding job.
I was just sharing something I seen one time. Planes are fascinating.
Just subscribed. I like you're hard work and time you and your team do to keep em flying.
I am a Air Force veteran who has a love for aircraft.
Great recap Jimmy. Enjoyed the build. Has Pastor Jimmy given his final blessing to the finished product?
of course! ;)
Proud of your achievements on getting your Six Packer from start to finish and let me know what power settings you are using for you and comfort
Thanks so much! To go slow I pull it back to 21in 2350 rpm and burn around 12.5gph, if I'm trying to get someplace, 23in 2400rpm and thats around 14gph
Thanks, Amazing work. Very inspiring.
Luckily for you, able to buy & repairs plus maintaining a plane, have fun 🤩
Ride the greyhound alot cheaper.
Looking good now. "I love flying" justifies all the money. You're not crazy one bit.
Great channel. Don't stop what you are doing.
Good job captain 👨✈️ and I enjoyed.
Jimmy, thank you for sharing and documenting this entire process. The educational value is enormous.
However, in hindsight, was the $45,000 sale price overvalued? Given how many things had to be fixed just to get it off the ground after so many years, it seems the seller made a fortune on what was once yard clutter.
Maybe “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” applies here.
Short answer, yes.
Great video jimmy. It was informative .

I loved the restoration. Keep it up.
Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video!
If you like airplane projects, want to be able to haul a fair amount of stuff up in the sky, and go fast.... although it's only a 4-seater, the Van's RV-10 is an awesome plane to build and fly. I helped build one with two friends... I did all the wiring and avionics on it. It was completed in 2009 and has an IO-540, CS prop, full IFR glass panel with all the usual gadgetry, autopilot and a stereo intercom system, and it cruises at 175 kts. Flies like a big version of an RV-6/RV-7.
It was a fun ride watching you bring this bird back to life.
Was it really broken?
Just started watching your videos from yesterday very interesting I am hvacr tech great work 👍 🇱🇨 🇱🇨
Sure do enjoy "Jimmy's World"!!! Keep it coming!!!
I surely know what you’re talking about with ‘forgiveness’ and ‘load.’ Even though I’ve flown a lot of oddball aircraft and did all of my ‘quals,’ in a Cassena, the only aircraft that I’ve personally owned was a 46’ Stinson 108-3. It was affectionally known as “The Station Wagon of the Skies.” I bought it for a song, from the original owner. It hadn’t been flown since the late 50’s and I bought it in 1971. It had a very tired and beat-up 165 Franklin in her. I was practically given a Franklin 220 that needed to be rebuilt, which I did myself. Since I had a connection with Edo Corporation, in Manhasset, Long Island, NY, they reworked my pontoons for $500; including shooting them in the Dupont color of the plane itself. That was one epic aircraft.
Jimmy great job im working my 1965 Cherokee Six the 144th one ever built hasn't flown in 7 years getting ready for the first engine start.....
