I bought this router with 3 bases for £79 many years ago. Its been used & abused & its still going strong. I also bought the 18v katsu router & that's good too. When routing hold the router around the middle & try & keep it flat on the work peice. The bearing will ride along the wood & keep it straight. If you tilt it slightly thats when you will get a crooked line. Never hold it at the top as you have less control.
Hi, really enjoy your honest reviews and learning as you go along. You will find the palm router a very useful tool. I have the cordless makita version, and the similarities are amazing. I'm learning every day and like yourself my skills are improving. Look forward to your next video.
I have the Katsu after doing a lot of searching and reviews. Have all the bases except the tilt base but one diffferent to what you got in that kit which is the offset base. Thought it may have been underpowered at 710w but it has been an eye opener and has done everything I have asked of it and very very pleased. ebay if its fromn aimtools then it is a katsu as they are the official distro in the UK (I got the offset base and guide bushings from them). Overall a very very capable router that does what its supposed too. Currently buiding a storage case to hang on the wall and doing some dado's with it. Enjoy your purchase :) Also while there are a couple of differences between the makita and the katsu they both have the exact same user manual with the difference being the katsu only comes in chinese and english.
Have owned and used the Katsu for years. Great little machine. It is my belief that the Katsu and the Makita come out of the same factory. Still waiting for someone to prove otherwise. 👍 😎
100% not from the same factory! That's what they want you to think! In use the Makita is also smoother and more quiet. ruclips.net/video/6ZZ7P908seE/видео.html
Great review thank you, do you have any experience with the cordless version? Btw, a tip, it is the same seller on both amazon and ebay, so just buy it from ebay and save £10.
No I don't to be honest, I have only heard it's good but slightly underpowered but like I said no first hand experience. I am always cautious of eBay and how warranty's work but it's good to save money!
Good video, have the katsu myself and it handles everything I've needed so far. However please be aware where the router bit is at all times. That first use you hadn't turned it off and got awfully close to the bit. And as others said, hold lower down the router, might seem more dangerous being closer to the fast spinning noise maker but it's actually safer.👍
I must start this by saying you really should use both hands or hold the router much lower down i seriously cringed watching you hold it the way you did you had no control over the router. I have had my katsu for a couple of years now and works brilliant as said its all but a makita. I wasnt being rude about how you held the router it was just said out of concern, great vid

Hi and thanks for the message. I agree 100% with everything you've said there!
Useful with the additional guide bush set ,that only fits the largest plunge base.
Yep.

Thanks Barry!
Very pleased so far Barry...you'll see it in action in my upcoming videos...
What’s the width of the bits used in this router? 8mm?
