    I have always found bnq rediculously expensive . It is purely down to the hours they are open I think , iow you lnow they will be open if you need something desperately . Screwfix a frustrating to deal with because if it's a larger item they have to order it in , which means more waiting time when you could have the job finished . But as you say they will have a million small items on the shelf . Keep up the good work 👍⛏️🔨🔧

    Hi Roger .. Another great video as always. With regard to the hose issue with your compressor, I have the exact same Hyundai and I bought my hose from Amazon. Had no issues, it worked straight out of the packaging with the appropriate connectors already fitted. It is still in stock and costs only £20. It is the YOTOO Air Compressor Hose Polyurethane Recoil 10m Long 6mm ID x 9.5mm OD with Bend Restrictor, 1/4" Europe Quick Coupler and Plug, Blue. Yes, a very long name 😀. No issues as yet with the coil, it seems to go back to its shape without problem. Hope this works for you if you decide to go for it. I too would be very interested to see any good replies from viewers regarding the purchase of wood online. The ones I have looked at either charge an arm and a leg just for the wood or, if it's cheaper then they charge the earth for postage!! Very envious here as well about the quality of wood we see on the US woodworking videos. Cheers 😊

    Hi Roger,I bought a Amazon basics retractable air line made by UMI about three years ago cost was £60 and it's served me well albeit it's not in regular use ,probably about once a week,the only issue I had was the hose from the compressor to the reel came with a different size tail so I had to buy another cheap hose and connectors cost about £20 to make it all come together all my air tools are using Euro connectors

    Hi roger great video. You should have a bowl gauge and a spindle gauge in a set of six. The chisels look ok, but you need to hold them properly when turning. I wish I lived nearby as i'm a woodturner. I could pop round and help you carry the parkside lathe to the skip😉

  • @TheOldcoder
    @TheOldcoder 17 дней назад

    Roger, you didn’t chop the corners off that block! No wonder the poor thing struggled with it. Those chisels look great, it’s all about technique when using them. They will need to be sharpened eventually. Professionals will have special sharpening systems costing £000’s Why not do a comparison with Carbide chisels? They last longer than HSS ones and the blades can be changed easily. For the DIY guy, like me, the Parkside lathe and Carbide chisels have served me well - I’ve made some small bowls with it. Check out Glen & Lisa Teagle’s channel, a professional turner who uses both traditional and carbide tools ruclips.net/video/JiXX3611N4g/видео.html

    I really enjoyed this video and that you showed how you resolved your issues. The one thing I would say is using the jack and putting pressure on the top of the router. There is a bearing there and could be affected if the casing pushed in. I would have tried to make a cradle that had cutouts on the uprights that engaged the handles on the body. The handles are designed to put pressure on. Maybe a later upgrade. Thanks.

    Hi Roger, A good router table cabinet build square and solid, a good lifting device using a car jack. I do enjoy building projects for the workshop and this looks a great build. NVR switch is definitely a must and you got one fitted. That is a problem at time with warped boards when you trying to make a level base, is to get it braced and screwed down and 9.9 times out of 10 it does work. Pocket hole screws are perfectly fine for workshop furniture. Quick & effective. It's not like you'll be hammering on the router table. Nice build! After your Trend RT video, I was inspired to revisit my DIY one. It's the second iteration and works OK but was installed in an awkward spot in the shop & changing the bits was such a pain that I barely used it. After a lot of research, I decided to buy a RT & build a cart. I looked at the Lumberjack one with a built-in router (and the Rutlands version) which cost around £200 on Amazon but was not happy with the build quality of the fence. As I already own a large Erbauer router, I didn't really need a built-in one & some reviews questioned the alignment of the bits & lift mechanism. In the end, I discovered the Lumberjack one on cast iron top, which only cost £50 more, but didn't come with the built-in router & lift. I'm really glad I did as the build quality is excellent. Getting the router attached to the plate was the hardest part & I re-used the threaded rod lift mechanism in a modified form, so I can raise & lower the bit with a driver through the provided hole in the tabletop. Photos at instagram.com/rooster_carpentry/ if anyone is interested. The end result is pretty similar to yours, though my cart is a bit more basic. It lives by the door of my workshop. I can easily swap it into the table saw space (which is also on wheels) as the top was the exact same width as my Bosch table saw (a happy surprise). It also means I can easily get to the back of the router for the bit changing lock etc...
