    Glad I came across your channel, you make everything look so easy. I need to go back and remove my mint from my planter box and put it in a pot. Good thing I just planted it a couple of days ago.

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  5 месяцев назад

      Glad you like my channel. Not sure what size your planter box is, but usually you should be able grow mint in them too. Growing in pots is better to control the spreading. Happy growing and thank you so much for your comment!

    Great video! I noticed that my spearmint has white dots covering the leaves. Any thoughts on what might be causing this? Looking for some advice. Thanks!

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  10 месяцев назад

      Most probably the leaves are effected by spider mites, specially if you can notice any tiny webs underside the leaves. Or it can be because of other pests or fungus. The best is to spray neem oil mix on both side of the leaves (1oz of 100% cold pressed neem oil + 1 tsp of dish soap in 1 gallon of room temp.) Hope this helps and thank you so much for your comment!

    after sowing seeds where to keep the tray or pot? in my city temperature is about 25 Celsius in day can I sow peppermint seeds?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  10 месяцев назад +1

      You can keep them in a bright place, but not in direct sunlight. Part shade is the best. Yes, seed will most likely germinate in 25C. Happy growing and thank you for visiting!

    What if you don’t have fish water what else can you fertilize with?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  10 месяцев назад

      I didn't mean fish water. Fish fertilizer is a consentrate emulsion available in general garden centers. Here is the link on amazon amzn.to/3QwupoY . On my other video I showed how to mix it ruclips.net/video/ao9ZbWBVRwo/видео.htmlsi=Z1wCPXb7Jkv02F8G (toward middle of the video). And if you cannot find fish fertilizer, any water soluble fertilizer high in nitrogen will work too. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting!

    Does this video also apply to peppermint plants as well? I’ve been trying to grow some with my kid sister and ours aren’t growing🤣

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  2 месяца назад

      Yes, the growing process and steps apply to both. Mint seeds are a bit tricky to germinate and grow. The key is to cover seeds very very lightly, they need light to germinate. But give it a few tries and you should be able to get them growing. Happy gardening!

    Sorry for asking , still a beginner when it comes to gardening, does the mint plant have the capability of surviving freezing winters? Planing to move to the rockies in a few years and wanna know if mint would be a good plant to grow there

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  2 месяца назад

      Yes, mint is generally winter hardy and can survive light frosts. You will need to cut back the plants to the ground before winter. This will make for healthier, more prolific plants the following year. Happy gardening and thank you for visiting!

    Can I plant the seeds straight in a big pot outdoors?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  5 месяцев назад +2

      Mint seeds are a bit tricky to germinate and it is much easier if you start them in seed trays. But you can start outdoors too (1-2 weeks after your average last frost date). Thanks for visiting.

    Why did you cover the hole with Rock how will water go out?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  7 месяцев назад +1

      The holes on terracotta pots are usually large and soil washes away when watering. I place few pieces of curved rocks or tiles around the draining holes to keep the soil inside and also to stop them clogging up. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting!

    What type of black trays are the ones you use in the video? I would like these specific ones to use for my own planting. Just trying to figure out what to exactly look for

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  5 месяцев назад

      I am re-using containers from grocery and for vegetables That black one is from mushroom container. You can use any tray at least 2" deep and add holes for drainage. Thank you for visiting!

    I love it.
    I buy small starter plants of Moroccan mint which is spearmint, I think.
    When it begins to flower and I pinch out the leaves, I get the dreaded "stiff stem".
    Am I the only one that hates the "stiff stem"?
    I have to tell you that your videos mesmerize me.
    They're great!!!
    Next year I'll try from seed.

      Will surely keep it moist maybe with a transparent plastic bag with some holes placed over the opening.
      Great channel and highly informative 👍

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  5 месяцев назад

      The plastic bag may be good for seed germination, but I don't recommend it for plants. It will increase the chance of fungal disease. That is why it is better to water at soil level. Happy growing!🌱
